A LETTER FROM YOUR DNE Hello Unicorns! I hope all of you had a time of your life at Fall Rally South. Although I was not able to attend it because of scheduling conflicts, it was very exciting to see that many people attended and were truly inspired and motivated to serve more in Key Club. The finals is approaching very quickly, and sometimes it can be very stressful just thinking about it. Relax, take a deep breath, and think about cuddling with a teddy bear on couch, wrapped around with a soft blanket and drinking hot chocolate. In this issue of the Unicorn Herald, I will be covering the LA AIDS walk, and ar ticle submitted by Siddartha Sen of Valencia High School Key Club, and the November DCM, submitted by Paige Kauffman of Saugus High School Key Club. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at d16n.cnhkc.dne@gmail.com. DNE Shane Cho ♍♍
A LETTER FROM YOUR LTG Hello my lovely Unicorns! I hope every single one of you enjoyed Fall Rally. although we were not able to earn the spirit stick, I am so proud to serve Division 16 North. Standing up on stage and seeing every one of you cheer was truly inspiring. Even though Fall Rally planning was extremely stressful, every last minute was definitely worth it. I hope that all of you will continue to stick around Key Club and be more active than ever! Also we have raised over $2000 for Pediatric Trauma Program ($500 over our goal!!!). Now that PTP is over, time to start fundraising for MNT!!! Have an amazing December filled with peppermint and snowflakes (hopefully, even though it is SoCal). Keep Serving, and until next time, LTG Joyce Kim
AIDS Walk This year, Key Club attended the annual Los Angeles AIDS walk. This is a fundraising event designed to help support multiple health service organizations. Participants walked 10 kilometers around Los Angeles. Although there were a lot of participants, Key Club members were a common sight during the event. Carrying their spirit sticks and wearing their respective Key Club shirts, the members paraded around the city. Occasionally, one might have heard
the “Feel Good cheer somewhere in the crowd. The event route was something memorable. It started off when walkers crossed a giant overhead banner. Then there were numerous turns, and the participants got a chance to see different sections of the city. Finally, everyone had to surmount a steep road to reach the finish line. The walk itself was long and tiring, but certainly not impossible. There were numerous resting stops
and volunteers were constantly handing out refreshments to the participants. Additionally, there were DJs, cheerleaders, and dancers to help motivate the walkers to complete their journey. Overall, the LA AIDS walk was a great event for Key Club to participate in.

November This past Saturday, November 5th, the November DCM took place at Heritage Park in Santa Clarita. From 1 to about 3 p.m., members from the various schools that make up Division 16 North came together to have to great time and practice the fun cheers for the upcoming Fall Rally. After everyone showed up, met each other, and settled down, division leaders came and began to get everyone in spirit for the day and the
DCM
approaching Fall Rally. The event then started off with the usual ice breakers—including simply going around and saying your favorite food and ice cream flavor, and human knot (which is always a crowd pleaser). After these group building activities, members got back together and started practicing all the awesome cheers, which were airdropped to everyone. After practicing, groups were formed based on schools, and we competed in a
cheer battle to see who did it best and how it was supposed to be done. Finally, those attending all had a chance to throw pies at each of the school’s leaders! After attending the DCM, hopefully all the schools within our division were inspired to be extra spirited and pumped for the Fall Rally on Saturday, November 12th!
