Rising Arts Agency Exhibition
Creative Youth Network’s Spring Programme Our Spring programme brings you all of our new sessions, exhibitions and events throughout the city. We’re celebrating Bristol’s youth. In each seasonal programme, you’ll get to hear from one of the young people we work with. Nick (19) has been coming to The Station for four years. He comes to get support from youth workers and to improve his music production skills in our sessions. The most important thing to him is the inclusive environment we have. Experiencing challenging family circumstances, involving aggression and ill mental health held Nick back from engaging with education. This also meant he associated with unsafe peer groups.
9–27 January at The Station | FREE Rising Arts Agency supports emerging young artists through mentoring and professional support, and during January a collective of 6 artists who work with Rising Arts Agency will be taking over the gallery space at The Station to exhibit their work.
Mad, Bonkers, Mental
“If I hadn’t come to The Station when I was younger, I would have been worse off and got into more trouble.” “The best thing about coming to The Station has been that it’s made me more confident. I never used to believe in myself. I’ve grown as a person because everyone here encouraged me. They never look at you differently, no matter where you come from and everyone is treated the same. I was encouraged to make my own music. Now that’s how I express myself and control my anger instead of letting it out on other people, I can sit down, write lyrics and straight away make a track.”
“What’s changed the most for me is that I can now see a future for myself. I couldn’t do that when I was younger. Every day I’m grateful to still be alive.” Find out more about The Station at www.creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk/thestation Creative Youth Network is a charity. 6–25 February at The Station | FREE During February, we’ll be celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week with an exhibition of work created by young people who are supported by the charity Off The Record. The exhibition will raise awareness of mental health, share stories from those who are affected by mental health issues and exhibit the amazing work produced through the creative therapy programmes delivered in Bristol by Off The Record.
Tallulah Pomeroy: Exhibition 6 – 31 March at The Station | FREE Tallulah’s exhibition of ceramics, sketches and stories is a collection of overheard conversations, misconceptions and myths about what it is to be a female and what’s expected of you if you are. Having graduated in 2014, Tallulah is an emerging artist living in Bristol.
Creative Youth Network at The Station are thrilled to be working with the young programmers at the Festival Of Ideas who will be bringing the following free talks to The Station this Spring for other young people to attend, be in the audience and ask questions: Wed 25th Jan, 7 – 8:30pm – Homelessness | Wed 29th Mar, 7 – 8.30pm – Legal Highs&Other Drugs
