For details about the cover see reverse Our cover image is from our show Rights to Move, a dance performance with live music. It was inspired by civil and human rights movements. Rights to Move was a collaborative project with Rise Youth Dance Company with support from local historian Dr Edson Burton and Bristol Museums and Archives. If you’re a budding artist, illustrator, designer or photographer, we need you! Each term we feature the work of young people on the cover. So submit your ideas for the cover at info@creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk.

Get on Track Creative Youth Network’s Spring Programme Our spring programme brings you all of our new sessions, exhibitions and events in January – March 2018. We’re celebrating Bristol youth. In each seasonal programme, you’ll get to hear from one of the young people we work with. Ellie (16) went through a difficult period in her life. Due to changes in her family’s situation she had to move far away from her friends. She felt very isolated and didn’t feel confident to make new friends or express herself. “It was hard being outside of the city and not being able to go see my friends because it’s so expensive. It made me feel lonely; it was a tricky time,” Ellie said. We met Ellie and started working with her one to one, to help her adapt to her new situation. “Lucy (youth worker) was very nice from the beginning. She helped me understand there was plenty to do in South Gloucestershire. She showed me there’s a rugby club and I joined straight away. Coming to youth club every week meant I met lots of people just like me and having Lucy there made me confident to make new friends. She introduced me to people and the activities at youth club meant it was easier to talk to other people.”

Ellie also felt she needed to know more about how to live independently, so Lucy suggested she could look into getting part time work. Ellie was motivated, found a vacancy and applied for it all on her own. “I feel like my confidence and motivation has grown massively in the last few months. I’ve gone from sitting at home on my own to having new friends, being able to see my old friends in town with the money I earn from my part time job and not being scared of getting out and about.” Ellie is starting a new course in September at college and we wish her all the best for the future, now she’s on the way to achieving her true potential.

“I want to thank Lucy for all of her help. It’s been great to have someone to encourage me and listen to my worries.” Find out more about our one to one support at www.creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk/advice Creative Youth Network is a charity. You can support us at www.creativeyouthnetwork.org.uk
