Current situation

Trawsfynydd is a highly credible and attractive opportunity to kick start a long-term programme of SMR projects in the UK. Cwmni Egino provides a development vehicle to push the project forward.

We are positioned to be one of the projects ready for approval by the latter part of the decade, in line with the UK Government’s energy security priorities, seeking nomination by UK Government for SMR to be developed at Trawsfynydd in the initial wave of SMR developments. The creation of Great British Nuclear (GBN) is hugely important in this regard and we will work with them to build the capability rapidly to drive the nuclear programme forward.

To unlock the opportunity at Trawsfynydd, Cwmni Egino is focussing on 4 critical areas in 2023:

• confirmation that the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ)/Great British Nuclear (GBN) wishes to proceed with development of Trawsfynydd as one of the projects planned for approval in the next Parliament;

• clarification of the role of GBN and its relationship with Cwmni Egino;

• confirmation of the technology for Trawsfynydd; and

• Core development activities to mitigate key risks and further define the development programme.
