THANKS To everyone who attended the ANZAC commemorations here at OPS. WELCOME Kohen Frecklington to R1

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK AND NEXT WEEK It was great to see so many OPS families attending the Omokoroa Commemorations on ANZAC day. Well done to the Omokoroa Sea Scouts who served so well all day. Our thanks to Heather, Liz and Alison the ANZAC organizing committee for pulling the events together so successfully.

Today nomination forms for the OPS BOT election have been sent home with your child. Please take the time to read these and complete if you would like to make a nomination.

In May 2014 students from OPS were successful in presenting a submission to the Western Bay of Plenty District Council for the development of a skate path. From small but ambitious beginnings the Omokoroa Community Skate Group worked to raise the significant funds required to build the Skate path – a huge undertaking by a small group of incredible people that OPS has been privileged to be involved with. We can’t wait to see the Omokoroa Skate path officially opened this Saturday 7 May at 2 pm. Come along to celebrate with us.

PTA Fundraising BOP Phone Directories One of our major fundraisers for the PTA is for our families to deliver the BOP phone directories for Omokoroa and Aongatete. The money raised helps to subsidise visiting performers, some sports uniforms, extra classroom games and sports equipment, Year 8 Young Leaders Conference etc…

Lunch with the Stars

Each family is asked to help out by delivering to a designated area – if everyone helps out it is not too onerous.

Term 1 stars were – Lisa for being a great OPS ambassador when working in the office, Patrick for stepping up as a senior, Jaymie for emerging leadership, Phillip for being a Mathematician extraordinaire and Kayliss for awesome commitment to his learning.

HAVE YOUR SAY A number of reserve areas around Omokoroa are being reviewed by Council. They would love to hear your feedback. http://www.westernbay.govt.nz/our-district/currentprojects/Pages/Kaimai-Reserve-Management-Plan.aspx

The Omokoroa community has been asked to submit thoughts regarding the Draft Kaimai Ward Reserves Management plan 2016. One of the council’s ideas is to open up the Precious Reserve to provide for public vehicle access to the harbour edge. Many people are keen to see this reserve area left as it is to keep as one of the few remaining reserve areas to walk or cycle to for peace and tranquillity. A petition is available in the school office if you wish to sign.
