INSPIRING EXCELLENCE

At Cundall Manor, we prioritise stretching and challenging each pupil through individualised learning. With small class sizes and dedicated teachers, we ensure all students’ abilities are recognised. For those needing extra support, our learning support department offers specialised assistance. Our scholarship programme provides extension tasks and activities to deepen enthusiasm and learning for our most able pupils. We encourage enthusiastic students from Year 6 upwards to apply for scholarships, allowing them to further their learning and become exemplary ambassadors within the school.

Our aim is to help every child discover their talents and reach their full potential. The open scholarship programme supports a range of talents, including Academia, Art, Drama, Music, Sports, and AllRounder. While the selection process is rigorous, the assessment day is designed to be enjoyable.

Each scholar is supported by a personal Scholarship Tutor, in addition to their Form Tutor, to nurture and celebrate their skills within a supportive community. They also gain access to workshops, events, and guest speakers throughout the year.

As a scholar, students are expected to:

• Represent the school with distinction in their area of expertise

• Act as exemplary role models, sharing their passions with peers

• Embrace all additional learning opportunities and complete any tasks set by their tutor

• Actively participate in scholar events, workshops, and other sessions within the Scholarship programme

CREATIVE TALENT

ART

Art Scholars explore new techniques in painting, ceramics, and sculpture while being encouraged to reflect critically and collaborate with peers. Their work is showcased around the school and in the sculpture garden. Scholars also enjoy access to creative workshops, talks by practising artists, and gallery visits. To earn a scholarship, candidates must complete a still life drawing exercise, and a conceptual ideas response during the assessment day.

DRAMA

Drama Scholars are required to perform a memorised monologue, poem, or book excerpt and participate in a workshop where they will prepare and perform an unseen piece. Successful scholars are given access to lead roles in school productions and receive support for participation in external groups, auditions, and examinations. They also benefit from exclusive trips, workshops, and backstage theatre access throughout the year.

PERFORMING ARTS

MUSIC

Music Scholars frequently participate in school ensembles, choirs, bands, and musical theatre orchestras. They receive support to join external musical groups and competitions, as well as festivals and tours, with assistance for auditions, travel, and scheduling—such as with the Ripon Cathedral Choir. Scholars also enjoy access to recording studio events, trips, and workshops throughout the year.
