Half year results 2025

On 29 July we announced our half year results. Croda Way recently sat down with our CEO, Steve Foots, and CFO, Stephen Oxley, to talk about our first half performance, investor sentiment, and the transformation journey ahead. Here’s what they had to say.

How would you summarise our performance in the first half of the year?

SEF: I would say it’s a solid set of results. We delivered 7% sales growth and an 11% recovery in volumes, which is no small feat in today’s environment. We also reaffirmed our full-year guidance, which shows confidence in our direction.

SRO: I completely agree. It’s a testament to the hard work and resilience of our teams across the business. We’re performing well in a tough market – and that’s something to be proud of.

What’s been the reaction from investors?

SEF: Since the results announcement, we’ve met with many major investors. There’s strong support for Croda and a real desire to see us get back to the strong, consistent performance we’re known for. They recognise our strengths – particularly in innovation and customer relationships.

SRO: I’d say there is a sense of optimism, but also realism. They see that our profits and margins have slipped in recent years, and they want to see us become more efficient and commercially focused. That aligns with what we’re hearing internally too. That’s why we’re taking the next steps in our transformation journey – to unlock value and improve returns.

It’s about putting our customers at the heart of everything we do and using our smart science and One Croda spirit to improve lives and deliver outstanding performance.

The share price dipped after the results. What’s your take on that?

SEF: It was disappointing, yes. But we’re not alone – many in our sector are seeing similar trends due to lower growth expectations particularly in pharma and increased competition. The share price reflects broader market sentiment, not just our performance.

SRO: What matters now is delivery. If we stay focused, improve consistency, and deliver quarter in, quarter out, the share price will follow. It’s in our hands.

Why is transformation such a priority right now?

SEF: Because growth alone isn’t enough. In recent years, we’ve made significant investments – in acquisitions, capital, and infrastructure – and now we need to see the returns. The environment is tough: demand is unpredictable, and regulations are shifting. To get to sustained growth and realise our full potential, we must transform for the future. That means being more structured and disciplined in how we deliver. It’s about putting our customers at the heart of everything we do and using our smart science and One Croda spirit to improve lives and deliver outstanding performance.

SRO: To support us, we’ve set up a Transformation Office – a small, focused team supported by external expertise – to help us improve how we work together, stay on track, and accelerate delivery. We’re building on what we’ve already started. Over the next 18 months, we’ll be delivering transformation while continuing to grow with our customers.

What should we expect in the months ahead?

We’re building on what we’ve already started. Over the next 18 months, we’ll be delivering transformation while continuing to grow with our customers.

SEF: This is a journey we’re on together and we’ll be sharing updates regularly and being transparent about where we’re heading. Over the next 18 months our initial focus for transformation will be on both growth and efficiency to help us become more effective, easier to work with, and empowered to deliver our best work.

SRO: This will help us to improve how we work with customers and innovate to meet their needs, while also strengthening how we operate across manufacturing, supply chain, and enabling functions like Finance, HR, and IT. And we’ll be investing in new skills and capabilities too, so we’re ready for the future.

What’s your message as we look ahead to the rest of the year?

SEF: Let’s be proud that together we’ve delivered solid results in a challenging market. That shows we’re winning, even when conditions are tough. Now we build on that foundation driving growth, improving efficiency, and staying focused on our customers.

SRO: Thank you for all you do to deliver for our customers. There’s a lot to deliver in the second half – and if we stay focused, the results will follow.

Transforming for the future

Writing

the next chapter of our story

Croda Way caught up with Mark Robinson, who is leading our transformation, to learn more.

We have invested in the right markets with the right products for great growth, positioning ourselves to be at the forefront of helping to deliver cures for major global diseases, redefining sustainable consumer care ingredients and helping to feed the world with crops and practices shaped by our science and innovation.

But the world around us is changing fast.

Geopolitical tensions, disrupted global trade, emerging technologies and new competitors are redrawing the map. Climate change, shifting tariffs and regulation, localisation, and AI are accelerating this shift. Internally, our ways of working create unnecessary complexity which diverts focus away from our customers, drives up costs and hinders growth.

As part of transformation, we have a set of global initiatives prioritised for impact, with an initial 18-month focus on growth and efficiency to support business strategy and delivery, and to better serve our customers. These initiatives are organised across five pillars, each driving progress through targeted workstreams.

Here’s a quick tour of the transformation pillars:

Winning Portfolio

Led by Sandra Breene

We’re optimising our customer and product combinations, accelerating innovation and differentiating with sustainability.

Prioritising what counts — for our customers, our future and each other

• We’re focusing on what matters most. Around 40 global projects are being stopped - freeing up energy and resources to drive transformation and our future success.

• As teams, let’s keep our priorities sharp - by regularly reviewing what to stop, start or continue.

• Not everyone will be directly involved in transformation - but everyone plays a part. Please continue to stay focused on what matters for our customers, and be ready to embrace new ways of working as they develop.

As we transform our business, innovation remains the driving force. It begins with listening to our customers, turning insight into action, and fostering a high performing culture where new ideas can thrive. This is how we grow, and how Croda continues to stand out.

Growth in action

As we continue to build momentum across the business, let’s look at some examples of how we are driving growth through strategic focus and bold execution. From unlocking value in recent investments to innovating for tomorrow’s customers, here’s how we’re making it happen.

PRIORITY ONE

Maximising returns from recent investments – we’re accelerating company-wide growth by focusing on three high-potential areas.

1. Ceramides portfolio

Acquired via Solus in 2023, ceramides offer strong sales and margin potential. Known for rapid moisturisation and skin barrier protection, these ingredients are now fully commercialised thanks to a shift away from distributor agreements and a boost to our global sales capabilities. Sales are up 50%, with growth across regions and customer segments. We’ve also launched Sphingo’HAIR™ Drypure™, a world-first ceramide for hair care – marking a bold step beyond traditional skin applications.

2. Pharma ingredients portfolio

Led by Thomas Riermeier, President Life Sciences, Project Flagship is breathing new life into our well-established portfolio of pharmaceutical excipients. At our Leek, UK site, we’ve commissioned a novel super refining process, strengthening our leadership in speciality excipients. One standout product, Super Refined™ Poloxamer 188, a key ingredient for manufacturing modern biopharmaceuticals, is seeing rapid uptake and demonstrates the value of our differentiated biotech innovation

3. Emerging markets expansion

We’re shifting manufacturing to fastgrowth regions, especially Asia. In H2, we’ll commission a new surfactant plant in Dahej, India, where Consumer Care sales rose 30% in H1 – underscoring the value of being close to growth markets

PRIORITY TWO

Powering local and regional customer success

These customers are innovating rapidly and gaining market share. We’ve long invested in expanding our footprint to better serve them, especially in high-growth regions.

2 3

PRIORITY THREE

Stepping up innovation

Post-pandemic, customers are ready to create again – and we’re ready to lead.

Beauty:

Consumer Care:

Regional giants like Boticario (Brazil), Arma (Egypt), Kolmar (Korea), and Milbon (Japan) are thriving. We’re replicating our successful China model to support their growth.

Pharma:

Asia is a key growth region, with China now representing 30% of global drug development. Our long-term efforts in China have driven strong growth since 2020, and we’re expanding into other key markets.

Agriculture:

We’re focused on smaller customers in Latin America and Asia, where innovation demand is strongest. Sales to these customers grew 11%, now representing 56% of Crop sales (up from 44% in 2019).

We remain committed to multi-national customers, but adapting to diverse, fast-evolving markets is essential.

Pharma:

Our R&D is focused on customer-led projects that drive higher margin sales and new ingredient creation. Sampling is up, and Kerabio K31, a vegan-friendly bond builder for professional hair care, is a standout launch born from deep customer insight.

Since acquiring Avanti in 2020 with a portfolio of 2,000 lipids, we’ve added 130 new products this year alone. We’re partnering with Certest to provide our customers access to their proprietary ionisable lipid range, and our lipid sales for drug research continue to grow in double digits.

Croda’s Crop adjuvants play a crucial role in boosting pesticide performance. Through close collaboration with our key customers, we are delivering rapid innovation to the market. A perfect example of this is Atplus DRT 8000 – a customised product taken from concept to commercialisation in just 9 months!

Centenary celebrations

2025 marks a momentous milestone as we celebrate 100 years since Croda was founded by Mr Crowe and Mr Dawe at a disused waterworks in Rawcliffe Bridge, UK. After China kicked off our centenary at the start of the year, celebrations have continued throughout 2025 and we have been thrilled to receive so many wonderful updates from teams around the world, each showcasing creative and meaningful ways our people have celebrated.

Celebrations honouring our legacy

Starting with our celebrations at Cowick Hall, Croda Headquarters, we constructed an exhibition showcasing our 100 years of innovation and our people across the globe who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to where we are today. The exhibition was brought to life with content from our new book: Milestones and Memories, authored by Alan Knights, former editor of the Croda Way, our internal magazine, and now a Croda retiree.

This remarkable book captures the essence of our first 100 years, drawing on decades of stories, publications, and reflections to showcase our journey from day one to today.

Alan’s work is a powerful reminder that our people are our greatest strength. Their passion and innovative spirit have shaped who we are today and continue to shape who we become.

Thanks to Chris Holman, Creative Engagement Partner, you can explore the exhibition from anywhere in the world through a virtual version; step into each room, uncover our rich history, and join us in celebrating what we’ve accomplished together.

The celebrations continued at Cowick with a vibrant festival – a chance to relax, reconnect, and enjoy time together. With food stalls, music, games, and entertainment, the event reflected the warmth and energy of the Croda community.

Netherlands marked the occasion in true Dutch style, with a vibrant tulip display, later refreshed with begonias to keep the celebration blooming.

Incotec

Croda Goole, UK celebrated with a ‘Fleece to Grease’ science demonstration, to learn more about our lanolin heritage, alongside an afternoon tea buffet, garden games, and ice cream served from an ice cream van.

Croda Rawcliffe Bridge in the UK, our founding site, marked the centenary with a lively 1920s-themed tea party, outdoor games, and creative displays. The celebrations also included community tributes such as tree planting and a time capsule, along with a drone-captured human “100” formation.

Croda Denmark celebrated with Danish flags, layer cake, and a song – plus a thoughtful session on our Purpose, culture, and living our Values, led by Jette Kjeldal, Site Director and Martin Jelsted, Head of Operations.

Incotec Brazil’s Holambra site celebrated both Croda’s centenary and Incotec Brazil’s 25th anniversary.

Croda Korea hosted a series of meaningful activities reflecting hopes for our continued success.

This centenary year is not just about our history, it is about recognising the incredible people who have made Croda what it is, and inspiring the next generation to take us even further. Its’ a celebration of our past, and the start of a journey. I’d like to thank everyone for their hard work in organising celebrations across the globe and we look forward to seeing how our people continue to celebrate over the remainder of the year.

Net zero and decarbonisation: Croda’s journey and future goals

As we mark the halfway point to our 2030 commitment, it’s time to reflect on our decarbonisation journey to date. Croda Way caught up with Sarah Davidson, Technology Development Lead, and Rebecca Wood, Sustainability Director - Life Sciences & Decarbonisation, who have been helping the organisation plan for net zero, alongside Claire-Marie Grizaud, Group Sustainability Director.

Q: Back in 2020 we set a goal to halve our operational emissions by 2030, reduce the emissions associated with our raw material purchases by 12% and get to net zero emissions by 2050. How much has changed in those five years? And is decarbonisation still important to the business?

SD: Things have definitely changed over the past five years. We’ve seen wars, changes in government across the world and a Croda reorganisation all thrown into the mix. However, decarbonisation is still very much on Croda’s agenda. We are being driven to reduce our emissions by our customers, who are constantly seeking lower and lower carbon footprint products.

RLW: So much has changed, it’s hard to believe when our commitment was set, Covid wasn’t even a household word. However, the global climate crisis hasn’t changed or gone away, we still feel the effects of climate change around the globe whether that is flash flooding, droughts or heat waves, and we know industrial decarbonisation is core to limiting global temperature rises. Croda operates in markets with bold commitments to reduce carbon emissions across Beauty, Pharma and Agriculture. This means it’s not just important to us, it’s important to our customers.

Q: What about Scope 3 emissions that occur outside of Croda’s gates, both upstream and downstream – like those associated with the production of raw materials we use?

RLW: Although it may seem that these emissions lie outside of Croda’s control, there are lots of ways we can reduce them. We have come a long way in the past five years in measuring and understanding our Scope 3 emissions.

Our sustainable sourcing team have identified suppliers aligned with our ambitions and continue to engage and support their efforts. But Scope 3 isn’t simply a procurement responsibility: focusing on manufacturing efficiency, quality and reducing air freight are also key ways we can cut Scope 3 emissions. The next five years will see us move from measuring and understanding to delivering on decarbonisation, as our Beauty Care team put it ‘measure it to master it’.

Q: What are our customers saying?

RLW: Over the past three years we’ve seen a significant rise in the number of Life Sciences customers asking for carbon emissions data with many customers at the start of their own sustainability journey. They certainly see Croda as a leader in sustainability, and a partner for sustainable innovation. As more of our customers mature from measuring carbon to taking decarbonisation action, we need to understand the opportunities to create value and continue to strengthen our relationships.

CMG: L’Oréal’s 2025 “Spread the Green Vibes” event marked the halfway point of its sustainability journey, inviting Croda and other partners to celebrate progress and commit to 2030 goals. Focus areas included climate action, nature protection, community support, and circularity. The event emphasised collaboration, innovation, and evolving business models for a more sustainable future.

Our

procurement

teams in North America have managed to identify a cost neutral lower carbon impact raw material which could lead to over 40,000 tonnes of CO2 saved by 2030

Q: And what about net zero?

CMG: In 2021 we publicly committed to becoming net zero by 2050. This means we must reduce our total emissions, by at least 90%. To achieve this, our organisation and our supply chains need to drastically reduce raw material and energy reliance on fossil fuels – a pretty big challenge! Even though 2050 feels really far away, we have already started outlining our pathway to net zero.

From an R&D perspective, delivering our ambitious net zero and decarbonisation goals will require us to transform our product portfolio, and we know this can only be achieved through collaboration.

Q: What have we achieved

: Over the past five years we’ve decreased our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 28%. You might wonder, is this any good? Yes, it really is! By doing this, we’ve met our 2024 target to reduce emissions by 25%, getting halfway to our 2030 target. Croda sites across the world have all been doing their bit to reduce their emissions, even in challenging times.

RLW: I believe net zero is the real goal and we need to be making decisions now with net zero alignment in mind. We’ve been calling this ‘Net Zero Ready’.

SD: R&D is focused on being ‘Net Zero Ready’, ensuring new technologies are designed with a clear path to zero emissions. A predictive product carbon footprint app is being developed to estimate the footprint of innovations early in the product development process, supporting more informed decision-making.

CMG: At Atlas Point in the US, the team have managed to decrease emissions by 36% since 2018, which has helped reduce our corporate emissions by 12%! Croda Denmark has done an amazing job, achieving a 98% reduction in emissions by switching to renewable energy, which practically wipes out all Scope 2 emissions thanks to their lowenergy, electrified processes. Plus, the sites at Chocques, IRB, Incotec, and Alabaster have all reduced their emissions by over 75% by moving towards more renewable energy sources.

GSK, one of our global key accounts in Pharma, has committed to a net zero, nature positive, healthier planet with ambitious goals set for 2030 and 2045. It has a program to work with its suppliers, including Croda, to support in reaching these targets.

Marie Maisonette, Sustainable Sourcing Manager
Jasmine Barcock, Sales Director, Croda Pharma

Decarbonisation is a key focus for consumer care multinationals where suppliers with strong decarbonisation projects and net zero targets are positioned as strategic suppliers. Our ability to demonstrate the effect of decarbonisation projects at product level has greatly improved our customer value proposition and acts as a differentiator for Croda.

Hayden

Q: Who is responsible for net zero in Croda?

RLW: Net zero at Croda is a shared responsibility, led at the executive level by Thiru Selvan JM, President of Supply Chain Operations. Through 2024 and 2025, a cross-functional team, including Strategy, Sustainability, R&D, Process Innovation and Operations, has been developing roadmaps to transition platform technologies. This work involves deep dives into product chemistry, manufacturing, and market trajectories, helping align business growth with sustainability goals.

Q: And what does net zero mean for the future?

RLW: To keep moving towards our goal, we need to make sure the organisation is moving in the same direction. New products need to consider net zero at the outset not as an afterthought. Operations and supply chains need to be efficient, smart and integrated from our suppliers to our customers. As a specialty chemical producer becoming net zero means decarbonisation of our energy demand and defossilisation of our products.

Q: Is getting

to

net zero achievable?

SD: Yes, it is challenging but achievable. The first net zero roadmaps have given us the framework and scale of the opportunity, and we know we will need to work with multiple partners and aligned industries. We also know that many of our suppliers and our customers are on the same journey, and they are looking to Croda to support their sustainability ambitions. In our centenary year we can be proud of our heritage and proud of our sustainable outlook for the future.

Every net zero conversation must start with how we can reduce our demand on resources

Innovation, purpose and teamwork in action

Leek’s new super refining facility opens its doors

It’s all systems go at Leek, starting with the successful commissioning of our new Solid Super Refining facility in February 2025. This investment expands our bioprocessing capabilities by enabling the purification of cell culture ingredients like Super Refined™ Poloxamer 188. These ingredients support the delivery of targeted therapeutics for previously untreatable conditions, including various cancers and autoimmune diseases. Ultimately, this means helping our customers bring potentially life-changing therapies to patients who need them most. The facility also offers flexibility for purifying other products in the future, opening up exciting possibilities for innovation and impact.

This achievement reflects the incredible teamwork and commitment across the site and beyond. With a focused project team and a positive, can-do attitude across the site, the launch of the plant was a huge success and something we can all be proud of – and another great example of using Smart science to improve livesTM

Check out the ribbon cutting ceremony to see this exciting milestone in action.

More exciting projects at Leek

Sustainably Sourced Squalene

Our new Sustainably Sourced Squalene is engineered through synthetic biology, making it non-shark-derived. This secures supply for life-saving vaccines and addresses the environmental concerns of traditional sources. The project recently won a prestigious award in the vaccine industry and speaks to our company values of Responsible, Innovative and Together.

Listen to our recent podcast here to hear how Croda teams made this development possible.

Tricaprylin

The transfer of manufacturing of the active ingredient tricaprylin, an excipient for pharmaceutical applications, from Alabaster, US to Leek supports existing and future customers. It also frees up valuable Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) capacity at Alabaster for new product lines.

Benzyl alcohol

In collaboration with the Princeton team, in America, we’ve developed a bespoke Super Refining process that removes impurities and delivers a highpurity excipient for pharmaceutical applications.

Rebecca Murray, Operations Manager at Leek told us: “The Team at Leek are working on a range of projects and have a number of exciting collaborations with external partners and other sites such as Princeton and Alabaster in the US. Leek has never been such an exciting place to be, and our teams are energised and motivated!”

And there’s more to come.

Construction of a new flexible asset based on ALC Lipids and ex-Pilot Plant products is currently underway with commissioning due in Q3, 2026. To complete our current investment program, we have just submitted the capital proposal for our new laboratory to house our Quality Control, Process and Analytical Development teams.

Meet Stephen Whittingham, Site Director, Leek

Time flies when we are learning and working hard at what gives us purpose and having fun! I’m six months into my new job and genuinely enjoying every minute. I feel privileged to be part of Team Leek at such an exciting (and challenging!) time for the site and wider business. The site has a strong track record of delivery and agility in responding to business, customer, and societal needs, backed by a solid Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) culture, and licenses to operate. We have our new assets and a growing portfolio of products, but we are also focussing on efficiency and driving value from our established plant and portfolio. All of this is great, but fundamentally a business and site are little without its people working together as one team – and here lies Leek site’s greatest strength.

Safety achievements at Croda sites

Croda teams continue to show their commitment to living SHE as a value. From major staff safety milestones to significant infrastructure upgrades, let’s hear from our teams at Dahej in India and SIPO in China about some of their recent safety achievements.

Five million safe people hours at Dahej, India

A major safety milestone has been achieved at our Dahej Project site in India. As of 5 July 2025, the team has successfully reached five million safe people hours without a single recordable injury.

This milestone is more than a number; it’s a reflection of the culture of care, discipline, and operational excellence at the site. With over 6,000 skilled individuals contributing to the construction of this new alkoxylation facility, safety has remained a core value at every step.

Eknath Patil, Lead SHE Coordinator at Dahej, shares, “This outstanding achievement is a true testament to the unwavering commitment of every member of our team in upholding the highest standards of safety, discipline, and operational excellence. It reflects

the collective dedication of our employees, contractors, and partners in fostering a culture where SHE is not just a priority - it is a core value.”

Safety was embedded in every operational decision and success was made possible by the team’s proactive approach to safety, strict adherence to protocols, and genuine care for one another.

Additionally, Croda Dahej is a symbol of Croda’s commitment to sustainability, inclusion, and community impact. The plant will be powered by 100% green electricity and designed for zero effluent discharge, setting new standards for responsible manufacturing. We’re also proud to be working toward a 30% female workforce, exceeding Indian industry norms and reinforcing our belief that diverse teams drive better outcomes.

Croda SIPO completes safety upgrade project in record time

Ahead of schedule, Croda SIPO in China have completed the update to their central control building and fire water system. This achievement marks a major step forward in strengthening the site’s safety infrastructure.

The project was initiated in response to updated local regulatory requirements and a proactive internal safety review. It was identified that the original central control building was located within the blast radius of the amide facility, presenting a serious safety risk in the event of an incident. Additionally, the fire water system was found to be under-capacity, limiting the site’s ability to respond effectively to emergencies.

To address these concerns, Croda SIPO launched a comprehensive upgrade of its central control building and fire water system to meet modern safety standards and ensure full compliance with updated regulations. The project team navigated a range of challenges, including complex geological conditions, technically demanding construction, and a tight delivery timeline. Despite these obstacles, the team successfully completed the project within just ten months, demonstrating outstanding project management, collaboration, and operational discipline.

Throughout the project, safety and quality remained top priorities. The team achieved zero recordable injuries and

zero quality issues, a testament to their detailed planning, collaboration, and commitment to excellence. The newly constructed control building now meets intrinsic safety standards, eliminating the risks associated with its previous location. The upgraded fire water system has significantly improved the site’s emergency response capabilities, ensuring greater resilience in the face of potential hazards. To celebrate the completion of the project, the Croda China team, led by Jeffrey Wu, Managing Director, visited the site to join the factory team in marking this important moment.

This milestone lays a solid foundation for continued operational excellence and longterm success. A huge congratulations and thank you to the Croda SIPO team!

Living SHE as a Value

Howard Peng, Engineering Manager at Croda SIPO, At the moment of completion, what I saw was more than codecompliant building spacing and a firewater system, it was the fruit of our team’s wisdom and effort, a record of finishing 90 days ahead of schedule with zero accidents, and a commitment to sustainable development written into the future through green technology.

It’s important that we open ourselves to learning, engagement and discussion on how we think, what we say and what we do to embody SHE as a value. We can do this in many ways, for example in adding SHE Moments to our meetings, incorporating SHE in our personal objectives or in ensuring SHE is a key consideration in project plans and in our management of change. Please keep sharing your feedback on SHE through YourVoice and taking actions so that we all keep living SHE as a value.

YourVoice

Six months in

Back in March, we launched YourVoice, our new employee listening and engagement platform. YourVoice replaced our Culture Survey and is all about honest and actionable feedback. We are now 6 months into using our new tool and with new ways of working for everyone, we wanted to reflect on our listening journey with YourVoice so far and hear from leaders and people managers on how it’s helping to understand and engage their teams.

Why is this important?

YourVoice enables us to gather regular, meaningful feedback. It’s a tool to help managers and leaders to identify key areas of feedback to address and act on them. We call this process “share, act and close the loop”. Research shows that engaged employees are more likely to thrive both at work and in life, and that high performing organisations collect and respond to feedback more frequently than lower performing peers.

How does it work?

Each month, you get a short set of questions, just 15 or so, that take around four minutes to answer. You rate how you feel about things like recognition, wellbeing, growth opportunities, and more. You can add comments to explain your scores, giving your manager context to how you are feeling. And if there is a question that doesn’t feel relevant, you can skip it. It’s anonymous and it’s easy.

YOUR IMPACT SO

Engagement score: 7.5 out of 10

Participation: 5,235 employees (83%)

Close the loop

Comments shared: Over 47,000

What’s next?

We’ve now closed our sixth feedback window, which means everyone has had the opportunity to answer the full set of questions. That’s a big milestone on our YourVoice journey. Leaders and managers are reviewing the insights. Some managers are directly replying in the platform, while others are discussing team-level feedback and action suggestions in meetings, both approaches are working and ensuring your voice is heard and acted on.

Let’s keep the conversation going 83% of you

already – thank you! If you haven’t taken part yet, please keep a look out in your inbox each month for the link. Through our transformation journey, it will be more important than ever to keep sharing your feedback every month your regular feedback will help us understand what’s important to you, ensuring your voice directly influences positive workplace actions.

YourVoice is giving me regular input into the things my team values most about Croda and our ways of working, but also those areas where they see room to continue to develop. I’ve been able to directly apply this feedback to create both specific actions for myself and the team, and also escalate wider organisational suggestions to the appropriate forums.

The members of the Consumer Care Leadership Team are grateful to have a new source of insight about employee experience. We’ve long been delighted to have lots of daily interactions with our colleagues around the world, which often include feedback and insights about employee engagement, but we were conscious that this would never give a complete picture. The addition of YourVoice with its researched questions, regularity and anonymity gives a big boost to the information we have.

YourVoice is a good tool for me as Country Leader to hear the voice of the employee candidly, instantly and frequently. Share-act-close the loop is simple yet powerful for us to identify and map the room for improvement, discuss and agree on what action needs to be taken that can bring significant impact, and importantly share back with the team to close the loop.

Since it first became available earlier this year, YourVoice data has come up in many of our CCLT discussions and indeed we had a dedicated agenda item on YourVoice at our face-to-face meeting in July. Sometimes, the data in YourVoice raises as many questions as answers, and this prompts us to have valuable, targeted conversations with our teams on topics where there seems to be opportunity to improve employee experience.

Product spotlights

Want to hear more about some of our specialty ingredients and the amazing work of our people? You’re in luck. Croda Way caught up with teams in Consumer Care, Life Sciences, and Industrial Specialties to shine a spotlight on some of our products and the people behind them.

First up to Life Sciences with a product spotlight on Sustainably Sourced Squalene

Squalene is a naturally occurring compound with powerful bioactive properties. It is widely used in skincare and cosmetics, and it plays a vital role in vaccines. In flu vaccines, squalene-based emulsions such as MF59, AS03 and AF03 help trigger a stronger and longer-lasting immune response. This is especially important for vulnerable groups like elderly people and young children.

Historically, squalene has been sourced from shark liver oil, as sharks store large amounts of it in their livers. However, this method has serious environmental consequences. Oceanic shark populations have plummeted by 71.1% from 1970 to 2018, and half of all species are now

endangered. Continued harvesting not only threatens marine ecosystems but also limits the availability of this valuable ingredient.

To address this, Croda has partnered with Amyris, a biotech company using fermentation to produce pharmaceuticalgrade squalene. By engineering yeast to convert sugar into squalene, Amyris offers a sustainable, ethical and scalable alternative that is molecularly identical to shark-derived squalene. This innovation was made possible by our advanced purification expertise at our Leek site, allowing us to produce the highest purity product tailored to meet the vital needs of the vaccine industry.

To learn more, please listen to the Croda Podcast on Sustainably Sourced Squalene. You can also view this image of Sustainably Sourced Squalene under the microscope. The circles are yeast cells used by our partner Amyris to manufacture squalene. The small green circles inside are freshly made squalene.

By utilising Amyris’ expertise of synthetic biology and Croda’s high purity excellence, the team has been able to develop a sustainable alternative to animal derived squalene to the vaccine market. This breakthrough ensures a more ethical, scalable, and resilient supply chain, paving the way for future life-saving vaccine development worldwide.

Next up, Consumer Care

with a product spotlight on Coltide™ Radiance

Coltide™ Radiance is an innovative biopolymer with a modified backbone that provides increased substantivity to fabric and fibres. The product is designed to protect garments and fabrics from damage, colour loss and greying. It’s used in both concentrated and diluted fabric conditioners.

Dropps customer collaboration –North America

Sean McMullen, Account Manager at Croda Inc, gave us an insight into their sales of Coltide™ Radiance and their collaboration with their customer, Dropps:

“Coltide™ Radiance continues to gain momentum in the home care laundry market. Most recently we have been working on new laundry formulation containing ECO Brij™ L7L and Coltide™ Radiance with Dropps for a new product launch at Target. Dropps is known for pioneering biobased cleaning formulas in the laundry and dish markets. They were specifically interested in showing microplastic reduction and fabric care protection. Local R&D in Princeton and UK R&D have been integral in supporting Dropps throughout the formulation process. Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs (PSRA) is also providing essential documentation highlighting formulation biobased content. Croda’s key ingredients and internal support have been vital in our partnership with Dropps.’”

BlueSun -

Various markets worldwide

Our valued customer BlueSun are a manufacturer of some of the most prominent brands in home care. They use Coltide™ Radiance in the manufacture of liquid laundry detergent for various brands – you might recognise one!

MercadonaSpain and Portugal

The biggest supermarket chain in Spain, Mercadona, own 40% of the market share of fabric care. Our product Coltide™ Radiance is used in their private label, Bosque Verde, as liquid laundry detergent for dark clothes, white and colour.

Product spotlights

Our final pit stop is Industrial Specialties with an update from one of our customers that uses Croda Phase Change Materials (PCM’s) in performance cooling. This may interest any Formula 1 fans out there…

INUTEQ and the Adidas CLIMACOOL System

Ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season, Adidas has introduced the CLIMACOOL system, a significant advancement in driver cooling technology. Developed in collaboration with our customer INUTEQ, the system features an insulated jacket and a custom cooling vest designed to help the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team perform at their best in extreme heat.

Lab tests have shown that combining the jacket with INUTEQ’s vest nearly doubles the cooling effect compared to the vest alone. This helps drivers like George Russell and Kimi Antonelli stay focused and physically sharp, even when cockpit temperatures reach 55 to 60 degrees Celsius.

The same technology is also being used in the Tour de France, supporting elite cyclists as they manage heat and maintain performance during one of the world’s most demanding endurance events. It is a strong example of how Croda’s innovative materials can contribute to enhanced athletic performance.

Steve Johnson, Global Business Director, commented “Following Formula 1 it’s clear that teams are looking for gains of tenths or hundredths of a second that can be decisive in a race. Whilst a lot of focus is on the car design, I’m hugely proud that our biobased phase change materials can help drivers stay cool and focused, providing an extra edge in performance.”

Celebrating our own Steve Foots awarded CBE

and Honorary Doctorate

2025 has been a landmark year for Croda, and also for our CEO, Steve Foots. We’re proud to celebrate Steve’s recent recognition on both national and academic stages.

In June, Steve was awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the King’s Birthday Honours List. This prestigious accolade acknowledges his outstanding contribution to the chemical and life sciences industries, and his role in steering Croda’s global impact, particularly during the pandemic, when our lipid systems played a vital role in the PfizerBioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

Steve said: “As a young boy growing up in Sunderland, if someone had told me that one day I would be honoured in this way, I would have probably laughed and certainly wouldn’t have believed them. This award is

recognition of Croda’s success, the company that I have been lucky enough to lead for the past 13 years, with its world-leading science and incredibly talented people – the lifeblood of this great business.”

Just weeks later, Steve received an honorary doctorate from the University of York, where he earned his BSc in Chemistry. The university praised his visionary leadership, commitment to sustainability,

and continued engagement with the scientific community. During the acceptance ceremony, Steve shared his best advice for the new graduates entering the world of work for the first time: “You’re stepping into a world that urgently needs you.”

Steve’s recognition is a moment of pride for all of us at Croda. It is proof that when we lead with purpose, the world takes notice.

Dan said, “Leadership Clinton County was a great place to learn about all the services and industry that the county supports. I enjoyed being able to see the inner workings of the community while representing Croda Mill Hall!”

Brandis added, “True leadership isn’t just about authority or a title. It’s about leading by example and creating a culture where people feel heard, supported, and motivated to do their best work.”

UK Sales Operations take on ChemUK

At the end of May, Croda UK & Ireland made its debut at ChemUK, one of the UK’s leading cross-sector events for the chemical industry.

As a multi-industry exhibition, ChemUK provided the perfect opportunity for our UK sales teams to come together, reconnect with existing customers, and engage new prospects interested in our Smart Science philosophy.

Croda was proudly represented by Kira Drabble for Crop and Industrial Specialties, along with Richard Barcock and Sofia Kazantzi for Consumer Care.

Speaking on the value of exhibiting, Jamie Pocklington, Sales Director for Industrial Specialties said: “It was great to attend ChemUK this year. Local shows are extremely important to engage face to face with our customers, especially for Industrial Specialties where we need to reaffirm our presence within the market. I can’t wait for us to be back there next year”.

Croda Chocques opens new raw materials storage facility

In June, the Chocques team in France celebrated the opening of a new raw materials storage facility. Around 50 colleagues gathered to mark the occasion and explore the upgraded space.

Replacing the old warehouse, the new facility is now the central hub for raw materials, designed to improve safety, streamline processes, and boost efficiency across the site.

It’s ‘Quality Time’ at Croda Italy

Croda Italy recently hosted its first Quality event across the Altavilla IRB and Mortara sites – an inspiring day that brought teams together to explore what quality means in everyday work.

The event featured training sessions, collaborative workshops, and a lively Quality Game Challenge. At Mortara, the marketing team led a session on Emotional Drivers, helping teams understand how emotions influence customer behaviour. Meanwhile, at IRB, a session on Managing the Unexpected introduced principles from High Reliability Organisations, providing tools to help teams maintain consistent performance during periods of change.

In the Quality in Practice workshops, teams reflected on their own processes and identified opportunities for improvement, turning insights into action. The day wrapped up with a shared lunch where everyone brought homemade dishes, reinforcing the sense of community and collaboration that defined the event. A fantastic first step in building a stronger, more connected culture of quality!

Croda Singapore celebrates Hari Raya Haji

In June, Croda Singapore marked Hari Raya Haji with vibrant celebrations at both Seraya Site and International Business Park (IBP) office. Hari Raya Haji is also known as the ‘Festival of Sacrifice’ and is one of the most important festivals in the Muslim calendar. Organised by a DEI Committee and led by Ruchika Kapoor, Sales Director and APAC Lead DEI, the event brought together around 80 colleagues at Seraya and 30 colleagues at IBP office. The day was full of cultural appreciation, meaningful conversations, and team connection.

At Seraya Site, Vui Shung Chok, Site Head opened with a welcoming address on embracing cultural diversity, followed by operational updates and a SHE session.

Meanwhile at IBP office, Ruchika Kapoor set the tone with a heartfelt personal anecdote that echoed the values of sacrifice and gratitude. Personal reflections from Nabilah Aqilah, Applications Scientist, and Dariya Nurtazayeva, Regional SHE Manager, on their family traditions and the spiritual

significance of the day offered deeper insight into the celebration.

A short video, quiz, and DEI poll kept the energy high, ending with food and great conversations.

Croda Singapore’s Hari Raya Haji celebration honoured cultural traditions and togetherness, while also reinforcing our commitment to building a space where great minds can think differently, connect meaningfully, and thrive.

Croda in the community Making a positive difference

We’re proud to share some of the fantastic ways our people are supporting charities and local communities.

Croda Poland runs for little hearts

The Croda Poland team recently took part in the Bieg Marzanny, a charity running event aimed at supporting young people with cardiac conditions. Demonstrating both team spirit and compassion, Croda colleagues joined hundreds of fellow runners in two meaningful races: the HalfMarathon and a 5 km run for little hearts.

Both events were held with the shared goal of raising awareness and funds for children facing heart-related health challenges.

Half-Marathon – Robert Brozek and Pawel Wolanski

5 km run for little hearts – Lukasz Kutrzeba, Katarzyna Sieminska, Gabriela Boczek and Edyta Jaworska.

Rawcliffe Bridge get baking for VE Day!

To mark Victory in Europe (VE) Day and to honour those who have served and continue to serve, Rawcliffe teams in the UK put their baking skills to work, creating a delicious spread of homemade cakes, buns, biscuits, and sausage rolls. Colleagues were invited to enjoy the treats in exchange for donations to Help for Heroes. The event raised a fantastic £207.29 through the cake sale, with additional donations made online.

The Incotec team perseveres in the battle

In cold, rainy conditions, the Incotec team tackled over 36 obstacles during the Battle4Life event. Despite the weather, team spirit stayed high, and the atmosphere remained upbeat throughout the course.

The team celebrated their achievement on stage with DJ and colleague Buitenhuis, marking a memorable finish.

Proceeds from the event will support Inloophuis Pisa, an organisation that provides care and comfort to people living with cancer and their loved ones.

North America Community Engagement team champions

STEM education through community giving

In May, the Mill Hall and Lamar team donated $4,000 to Keystone Central Foundation. This will support STEM education in the local school district. The donation, made through the Keystone Central Foundation, will help introduce 3D printers into local elementary schools and launch a new mini-grant scheme for teachers.

Keeping with North American Community Engagement’s goal to support STEM education, the team sponsored eight students for Bucknell’s Summer Engineering Camp. Students came from schools near Atlas Point and Mill Hall. The camp offered hands-on experience, college exposure and insight into engineering careers.

In June, the Mill Hall and Lamar team proudly joined the Best of Clinton County Parade. The team handed out candy and shared company information, while colleagues and community members cheered them on.

Following the devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar on 28 March, the Cowick community in the UK, came together in a heartfelt show of support.

Championed by Su Pyae, whose home country is Myanmar, and Marie Maisonette, from the sustainable sourcing team, a simple bake sale quickly grew into something much bigger. Thanks to the generosity of the Cowick team, over £500 was raised for the British Red Cross Myanmar Earthquake Appeal.

Croda Pharma R&T volunteers support local hunger relief

In New Jersey, US, the Croda Pharma R&T team volunteered with America’s Grow-a-Row, harvesting 5,700 pounds of produce. This is enough for 22,800 servings for families in need.

James Beevers, Vice Chair of the Cowick Wellbeing Committee says, “Su Pyae and Marie Maisonnette approached us with the idea of hosting a bake sale. I thought that the Cuppa Club would provide a perfect opportunity to capture as many attendees as possible and jumped at the chance to help. Su and Marie worked super quickly on choosing the appropriate charity and arranging bakers on site. It was lovely to see so many people joining us for a cuppa and cake on the day. I was amazed with the affection shown by our colleagues at Cowick. The money raised for this great cause is an effect of the strong community here on site”.

1% Club Stars

Since October 2023, Stefania Zugni, Customer Service Coordinator at Mortara, Italy, has been volunteering with Angeli Colorati. This is a local group dedicated to bringing joy to hospitals and care homes through “Smile Therapy.” Dressed in vibrant costumes and red noses, Stefania helps spread laughter, compassion, and optimism to patients of all ages.

The 1% Club is our employee volunteering programme, which allows you to volunteer 1% of your working time to help out in your local community. Find

Celebrating pride month

Pride Month is an opportunity to celebrate, through honest conversations, personal stories and a shared commitment to inclusion.

Across Croda we shared a Pride animation featuring our people from around the world, full of heartfelt quotes and reflections on what it feels like to belong. Jacob Wegbreit, Business Analyst, North America, shared how Croda’s culture allows them to be themselves without hesitation. Sarah Everett, Research Scientist, North America reflected: “Croda has given me co-workers who genuinely love and accept me for how I am. That’s powerful and a reminder that inclusion isn’t something we say, it’s something we feel.”

In Brazil, Maximiliano Diaz D´Esposito told his own powerful journey of parenthood that is deeply personal to him and his partner. Accompanied by other families sharing real stories full of love, challenges, and resilience. They talked openly about prejudice, affection, adoption, and raising children with pride. Maxi commented that: “Seeing my colleagues listen with empathy, ask thoughtful questions and connect on such a human level was emotional for everyone involved. Inclusion is not an HR issue, it is a value that needs to be alive in the culture of companies.”

In Thailand, we would like to highlight a brilliant Pride celebration where the team held a DIY Mocktail session. Everyone created their own drinks, choosing flavours and colours that reflected their own style and identity. It was a vibrant and joyful way to celebrate individuality and togetherness.

In Singapore, our Home Care team took part in Racial Harmony Week. Colleagues came dressed in traditional ethnic wear, and the team watched Dr Nita Mosby Tyler’s talk, “Want a more just world? Be an unlikely ally.” This was followed by breakout discussions that sparked meaningful conversations around inclusion, allyship and how we each have a role to play in building a more just workplace.

In North America, our LGBTQ+ Affinity Group invited colleagues to a virtual event ahead of the 56th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. It was a space to celebrate the resilience, joy and beauty of LGBTQ+ people while reflecting on how we can continue building a culture that lifts each other up. That honesty and sense of togetherness really stood out.

These moments from across our regions may have looked different, but they shared the same spirit, one of pride, openness and deep respect for one another. Pride Month reminded us that when we create space to listen and learn, we shape a culture where everyone can feel safe and seen, and where great minds think differently.
