They Grow Up So Fast! Year 13 have been enjoying their final few days with us before heading off on study leave this Friday. It's been a lovely and emotional time, full of celebration and reflection.
On Thursday evening, the girls came together for their Leavers’ Liturgy and dinner a special moment to mark the end of their journey here. Then on Friday, they enjoyed a celebratory BBQ and a heartfelt assembly, where they looked back fondly on their time at school, sharing memories and laughter with friends and staff alike.
We are incredibly proud of everything they’ve achieved over the years.
Good luck in your upcoming A Level exams, girls - you’re going to ace it!
ECO COUNCIL BIDS FAREWELL
TOYEAR 13
We’re saying a heartfelt goodbye to our incredible Year 13 Eco Council members, who have been eco champions since Year 7. Over the years, their passion and dedication have driven countless initiatives : diverting food waste, running second-hand book and clothes sales, introducing recycling to boarding, and improving recycling efforts across the school.
They have also played a key role in gardening, tree planting, and launching seed bomb projects. Most notably, their hard work led us to proudly receive the Eco Flag award, an achievement that reflects their unwavering commitment to sustainability.
Their efforts have left an indelible mark on the school and set a golden standard for future eco warriors. Good luck, girls, and thank you for everything you’ve done. You’ve truly made a difference for generations to come.
YEAR 11 SHIRT SIGNING
As our Year 11s went on study leave it was a great opportunity to spend time together and take part in the annual shirt signing fun! All the best with your GCSEs.
BOARDING NEWS
This weeks warm sunny weather meant the boarders enjoyed lots of outside fun and evening walks.
On Wednesday, the girls baked both chocolate chip and lemon cupcakes, making a sweet treat that all the boarders could enjoy together. In the evening, the St Teresa’s Evensong at Winchester Cathedral was streamed on the TV in both boarding houses for the girls to enjoy and spend some time reflecting.
It was lovely to meet so many perspective families at Open Morning last Friday.
To start of the Bank Holiday weekend the boarders took a much-anticipated trip to Thorpe Park. Trying out the all the rides and consistently going back to their favourite ones.
Sunday was spent going to Guildford and shopping, obtaining supplies such as wellies and clothes for the Year 10 Geography trip later in the week.
An Ice Cream van on Monday was the big highlight for the boarders this Bank Holiday weekend. Though the weather had cooled down a bit it certainly didn’t dampen their spirits.
INTERHOUSE DANCE
We kicked off Thursday morning with plenty of excitement at our annual Inter-House Dance Competition. Every House brought incredible energy and creativity to the stage, but it was St Ignatius who danced their way to first place!
A NIGHT AT THE THEATRE
We were treated to a fantastic performance from our Music department at "A Night at the Theatre". It was such a joy to hear our pupils bring theatre classics to life, and having two visiting soloists join made it all the more special. A huge well done to everyone involved
Our pupils were treated to a delightful spread Thursday afternoon, as our catering team laid out a wonderful selection of cakes and desserts in celebration of VE Day. Absolutely delicious!
VE Day is actually rather ingrained in our school’s history! You can read more about St Teresa’s in its WW2 years on our website HERE.
Peace in 1945 was celebrated when almost the entire school danced around a bonfire at the far end of Effingham Common, nuns and pupils linking arms and singing while marching back to the Covent in the dark, the church bells becoming fainter and fainter.”

A TASTE OF SEVILLE
Once again this year, the MFL department has brought a splash of Spanish culture into the classroom by hosting a series of live video calls with the Feria de Abril in Seville (one of Spain’s most spectacular and well-known flamenco festivals).
Pupils had the opportunity to practise their Spanish with native speakers from Seville and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the Feria in real time. Through the screen, they enjoyed seeing the traditional flamenco dresses and accessories, as well as the beautiful horses and horse-drawn carriages that are such a key part of the celebration.
It was a unique and colourful way to bring language learning to life and connect our pupils directly with Spanish culture.
A TASTE OF FISH PAST
Meanwhile, some delicious smells were drifting from the Food Preparation and Nutrition room, where the girls have been busy making homemade pasta accompanied by a creamy fish sauce. The fresh fish was kindly provided by Fish Heroes, a charity dedicated to bringing a wider variety of ingredients into schools.
Fish Heroes previously worked with us when they introduced mussels to our classrooms, helping students gain confidence in preparing and tasting new ingredients!

Reading
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
In the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them,‘Peace be with you’, and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again,‘Peace be with you. ‘As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.’
After saying this he breathed on them and said: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.
For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained.’
Reflection
As I sit and write this week’s Chaplaincy Pages the Conclave has just started. I am sure that as you read this a new Pope will have been chosen. Chosen by God and chosen for His Church. It is quite a job, quite a role, quite a vocation. May he be a person of peace and be full of God’s Holy Spirit.
