The girls had an informative morning yesterday at the University Roadshow. They had the chance to speak with representatives from universities around the world and find out more about studying abroad. They learned about the application process, student life in different countries, and the opportunities that come with studying overseas. BOARDING NEWS
During this past week our Boarding Prefect Ophelia and Head of Boarding Mrs. Wragg dropped off donations to the food bank in Dorking giving back to those who need it.
On Saturday, the boarders embarked on a gladiator adventure at Ninja Warrior. Testing their strength and endurance on the challenging course. Laughter could be heard as they fell many times only to get back up and try again. Of course, no trip is complete without taste testing the food on offer and the gladiators needed to refuel after such a gruelling task.
Sunday, the boarding house was filled with the wonderful smells of baking as the Year 11s made some sweet treats during their study break as they prepare for their exams next term. As we settle into spring the boarders have enjoyed the daffodils both around the school grounds and inside the boarding house.
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY ASSEMBLY
As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations and to conclude our focus on National Careers Week, we were delighted to welcome Laura Coryton MBE to speak to the whole school on Monday, 17th March.
Laura is a feminist campaigner, author, and founder of the social enterprise Sex Ed Matters. She led the successful UK petition to end tampon tax, which gained over 300,000 signatures and helped secure nearly £100 million in funding for female-focused charities. She spoke to the girls about her campaigning work, her experiences in politics including standing in the 2024 parliamentary election and her research on reimagining relationships and sex education. Her talk was thought-provoking

and inspiring, encouraging pupils to consider the power of activism and their own potential to create change.
During the assembly, Dr McShane also presented awards, and the Head Girl team distributed purple ribbon badges, which our pupils have proudly worn throughout the week in recognition of International Women’s Day.
Showcasing to our pupils the many career paths available to women, the girls had a fascinating talk from Meredyth Grant about opportunities in journalism and the military. She shared her own experiences, spoke about her career journey, and gave valuable insights into the different possibilities open to them. It was an inspiring session that encouraged the girls to think about their own futures and the paths they might take.
YEAR 7 ENRICHMENT
As part of their enrichment lessons, Year 7 have been learning essential car maintenance and how a car engine works. They explored the battery, different fuel types, and how to check and change oil using a dipstick!
MATHS MASTERCLASS
Another successful Maths Masterclass was run by our Sixth Formers! This time, we had the pleasure of welcoming pupils from Manor House what a fantastic opportunity for collaboration and learning!
TEAM BUILDING
Year 6 and 7 had a wonderful time working together on classic team-building activities and puzzles, making the most of the beautiful sunshine.
Dr. McShane is looking forward to seeing you all next year and welcoming the Year 6s to the Senior school!
There is still time to enter the British Science Week Competitions currently running across the school!
Design a Zoo Enclosure! The theme for this year's science week is Adapt and Change. Can you design a zoo enclosure to reflect the natural behaviours of your favourite animal? Ideally the enclosure should reflect the wild environment that the animal comes from, which can be achieved by using furnishings, such as plants and rocks in the enclosure. You can also think about the ways in which your animal is adapted to its natural environment and how you can design a space for your animal to thrive. Entries should be on one side of A4 and be handed to Mr Stephens by 25th March 2025.
Science Short Story! This is your opportunity to turn your hand to writing a short story. Any science theme is fine, and your short story should be no more than 1000 words. Please email your short story to Mr Garlic by 25th March 2025.
Wildlife Photography! This is your opportunity to show off your photography skills. The theme is 'adapt and change'. Please submit your photographs to Miss Skilbeck by 25th March 2025.
These competitions are open to all, and prizes will be given out for winning entries. Winners will be announced after the Easter holidays.

A Reading from the Gospel of John:
None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
“I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Reflection
Let us pause and remember that Lent is a period of sanctification, an old fashioned word that means to be put aside or made holy. This Lent and as we approach Easter I really encourage you all to reflect on your life and to ask yourself is there something you can give up or something you can take up that will help you become the best that you can be.
Blessed Carlo Acutis who is to be canonised this April understood the pressures we all feel but he also recognised that only in Jesus can our hearts find the peace we so desperately seek.
Concluding Prayer
Let us pray
God our Father, we give thanks for the season of Lent.
Give us the honesty to recognise what we need to change in our lives.
Help us to make choices in our lives that make space for You. And guide us to become the good person you created us to be.
We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
"Happiness is to look to God, sadness is to look to oneself". Bl Carlo Acutis
