With one week to go to the end of term and temperature soaring again in time for Sport’s Day, please note the change of times and ensure you send your daughter to school prepared for the hot weather.
This week the girls were treated to an extra special assembly all about dental hygiene and looking after their teeth (poignant prior to a long Summer break) by our resident expert Dr. Haselden.
Year 4 celebrated the culmination of their Spanish learning with an amazing Trust Partnership Flamenco event led by Sra. Granada and our Senior MFL team, ably assisted by staff from Year 4 at St. T’s and Cranmore. There was Flamenco dancing, rhythmical clapping and flower making. All Year 4 girls and boys had a great time.
Wednesday saw our Year 4 and Year 5 chaplain team head to Arundel Cathedral for The Good Shepherd Celebration, hosted by the diocese with Bishop Richard. My thanks to Mr. Jakubowski for driving us to and from the event. What an awe-inspiring architectural site to hold such a special celebration.
Finally, a special thanks to Year 6 girls, Year 5 chorus, Mrs Gibson and the Prep staff team for last night’s performance of The Jungle Book – wasn’t it just a spectacular feast for the senses. We are very much looking forward to the final performance this evening – break a leg girls!
Next week, come prepared for Moving Up Day, Prep Sports’ Day, Year 6 Leavers’ Liturgy, Author Visit, Prize Giving and the last day on the Prep site!
Brace yourselves – it’s the final countdown,
Gareth Tindall
YEAR 6 INDUCTION DAY – MONDAY 30th JUNE 2025
Please can your daughter arrive at the Prep School as normal on Monday 30th June. She will then be escorted to Mairlot Hall for the Senior School Induction Day later in the morning by a member of the Prep School staff.
Please can she only bring a pencil case with her – any other bags brought to school will be left at the Prep School for collection after Induction Day ends.
If you wish to collect your daughter from the Senior School at 2.30pm please let Mrs Charles know, in advance by Friday 27th June, so she can prepare a list accordingly. Any girls not on this list will be taken back to the Prep School for normal collection arrangements.
Pastoral Pause
Prepare yourself this weekend for the beginning of Jump Back Up July. There are some outstanding challenges to give yourself and your daughter’s the time to accomplish over the Summer break.
From adopting a growth mindset of ‘yet’, to getting the basics of eat, move and sleep correct, there is something for everyone to help boost a healthier, happier summer.
My personal favourites from the Calendar below are: July 7th, July 13th, July 14th (always), July 21st, July 22nd and July 27th. I like many more though and will be carrying the calendar with me throughout the summer. And don’t forget to live in the wonder of all that God’s creation has to offer.
God Bless You,
Gareth

We were all absolutely blown away by their wonderful acting skills, beautiful singing voices, and the super commitment each and every one of them showed to their roles. What a truly memorable performance, Well done, Year 6!
Warmer Weather
As temperatures are expected to reach up to 24 degrees next week, we kindly remind you to apply nut-free sunscreen to your daughter before she comes to school each day. If they are bringing sunscreen to school, please ensure it is a nut-free product.
Additionally, we ask that each pupil brings a named hat and water bottle to school every day. Staying hydrated is important in warm weather, and having a water bottle will enable your child to drink water throughout the day.
Lastly, if your daughter suffers from hay fever, please ensure she has taken her hay fever medication before coming to school.

Butterfly update
Now that all five of our butterflies have hatched, on Friday, Mr Tindall led our butterfly release assembly. We learnt that the Painted Lady butterfly (the type we have grown at school) are migratory butterflies and travel long distances to come to the UK. We watched them fly around the playground before they disappeared over our heads!
Sunflower Growing Competition
Eco and Gardening Club
We had a wonderful final Eco and Gardening Club session this week! The girls planted beautiful burgundy and yellow sunflowers, some for the St Teresa's gardens and some to take home.
Over the summer holidays, we invite you to support your child in caring for their sunflower by watering it regularly and planting it in your garden when it's ready. At the end of the summer, please measure how tall the sunflower has grown and take a photo of your daughter standing next to it.
We’d love to see the results! Kindly send your photos and measurements to Mrs Ridulfa or prepinfo@st-teresas.com so we can celebrate everyone's green thumbs in September.

Inspire Academy of Dance
We are thrilled to share some wonderful news about our talented students who attend the Inspire Academy of Dance after-school club. On Sunday, they took to the stage at The Hawth Theatre and they were absolutely amazing!
They performed a graceful ballet piece to Wish (from the Disney film) and a high-energy hip hop number to Hit Me Up from Happy Feet. Their ballet performance was a true highlight of the evening, receiving an emotional and enthusiastic response from the audience. Not only did they shine on stage, but they also represented our school with impeccable behaviour and pride. It was a joy to see them perform with such enthusiasm and professionalism. We are incredibly proud of them for their hard work and dedication. A huge thank you to the Inspire team for providing such a fantastic opportunity for the girls to grow and express themselves. Well done to all our young performers, you were brilliant!

Teeth Assembly
On Tuesday, Mrs Haselden led an assembly all about teeth. Using her previous experience as a dentist, she told us the ways that we can look after our teeth: brushing twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, choosing healthy snacks and visiting the dentist regularly to catch problems early. The girls were shocked to know how much sugar is found in our favourite drinks! Thanks to the wonderful charity Dentaid and their Bright Bites programme, each child brought home a toothbrush, a toothpaste and an information leaflet. The charity provides dental care, equipment and oral health advice for people experiencing homelessness, harm, poverty and abuse in the UK and overseas. Please speak to Mrs Haselden if you'd like to know more!

First Maths Challenge 2025
The girls in Year 4 have been incredibly busy in their Maths lessons and took part in the First Maths Challenge 2025. They tackled problems on a range of different topics including shape, measurement and time, as well as calculating. Many questions involved applying knowledge to solve multiple steps and the girls should be very proud of their efforts.
Onatti Production
Our Year 6 girls had a fantastic time visiting Cranmore School to watch the Onatti French performance. They were completely engrossed in the exciting outer-space adventure and especially loved the hilarious alien character! The half-French, half-English format made the story really accessible and enjoyable for everyone, helping to build confidence in understanding French. The girls' behaviour throughout the trip was impeccable, and it was wonderful to see them so engaged, enthusiastic and thoroughly entertained.

Year 6 Wintershall
What a brilliant day Year 6 had at the Wintershall Estate watching The Life of Christ! We were so lucky with the weather, blue skies, warm sunshine and delicious chocolate cookies.
The open-air performance was powerful and moving, with beautiful scenery all around us and lots of moments that really stuck with us. We especially loved seeing the donkeys, sheep and horses; who definitely stole the show a few times with their surprise appearances!
One of our favourite moments was the feeding of the 5,000, not just because it was so cleverly done, but because we got to try some of the bread too!
It was such a special experience, peaceful, thought-provoking and memorable, we felt very lucky to be part of such a wonderful production.

Flamenco Workshop, A Colourful Celebration of Spanish Culture
On Tuesday 24th June, the Flamenco Workshop was a great success! Over 60 pupils from Cranmore and St Teresa’s came together for a fantastic day of cultural discovery, celebrating the vibrant traditions of Spain. The children rotated through four exciting workshops: in one, they listened to a story about Seville’s famous Feria de Abril; in another, they made paper flowers – hair accessories for the girls and jacket decorations for the boys. They also learned to clap in rhythm (palmas) and, of course, tried their hand – and feet – at flamenco dancing. Midway through the workshops, everyone enjoyed a well-deserved break with delicious churros. It was a joyful day filled with music, movement, and creativity – ¡olé!

Alice Kettle,Together
We are thrilled to share some wonderful news from the art world that involves the creativity and generosity of our very own students. Textile artist Alice Kettle has written to express her heartfelt thanks for the beautiful drawings contributed by some of our pupils to her latest collaborative piece, Together. This monumental textile artwork is now on display as part of the exhibition Soft Power: Lives Told Through Textile Art at the Royal West of England Academy (RWA) in Bristol, running until 10th August 2025. You can find more details about the exhibition here: Soft Power at the RWA.
Alice described the process of stitching the children’s drawings into the final piece as a “huge undertaking” that took over eight months to complete. The finished work is an impressive 4.4 metres high and 9.8 metres wide, made up of seven panels that gently move with the air, bringing the piece to life. She shared that she remained as faithful as possible to the original drawings, interpreting colours while preserving the spirit of each child’s contribution. A screen at the exhibition also displays the original drawings, ensuring each young artist is acknowledged.
Accompanying the artwork is a poem by Jenny Mitchell, which beautifully captures the spirit of collaboration and community that defines Together
Together with Alice Kettle and Friends
The gallery has come alive –more breath as objects move – me taking steps towards Together, monumental, soft in form, not sacred like a church but worshipping each face, if worship means to mend because the world divides, connecting with a human force, no longer torn apart – seven banners raised as one arms held out surrendering flags that wave in no one’s hand couples glowing cheek-to-cheek flames a falling alchemy stars that grow as flowers might blue a reckless dash of sea yellow reigning crown-like sun a reflection of one mind bonding with community.

The Good Shepherd Celebration
On Wednesday 25th June, Monica, Florence D, Charlotte and Thea S, accompanied Mr. Jakubowski, myself and five boys from Cranmore, to The Good Shepherd Celebration held at Arundel Cathedral. There were dozens of schools from the diocese all joined together in the annual celebration, which this year highlighted the work of CAFOD and the year of jubilee with its ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ theme.
Each school was tasked with providing a pledge this year with how we will esteem ‘Community’ (our school value for this year) and support those less fortunate than ourselves. The Prep Chaplaincy team have come up with several excellent pledge ideas for next year which include our annual Harvest donations to food bank; our Christmas Shoe box appeal, providing gifts for children with very little over the festive period; but also consider other ways we as a Prep School can support those in our local area through fund raising and charitable actions once a half term with events like cake sales, mufti, sponsored campout and the like.
The girls decorated a beautiful goldfish bowl for their offering to place their pledges in, with the declaration: To be a follower of Jesus means a life of swimming against the current. As Ghandi once said, ‘Be the change you want to see in the world.’ That is our pledge for the coming academic year where our School Value for the year aptly changes to Compassion.

U9 Cricket vs St Catherine’s
Even though we only had 6 players (and Millie with an injury) the girls fielded really well and played some great cricket. Eloise was the bowler of the match, bowling 2 overs with pace and accuracy. Viv and Monica also bowled well, with Monica getting our only wicket. Our batting could have been a little stronger, as we could connect with the ball but not hit it with enough power to find the gaps in the field. Overall, it was a really strong performance, and it clearly demonstrated the progress that this team has made this term. Players of the match were Monica for batting and Eloise for bowling, well done to everyone in the team!
The girls' cricket team put on a fantastic performance in their match against St Catherine’s, securing a convincing victory by 40 runs. Batting first, the team showed great composure and teamwork, building a strong total with contributions throughout the order. The batting unit worked well to set a competitive target for the opposition. It was in the bowling innings where the girls truly shone. With sharp, disciplined bowling and excellent fielding support, they kept St Catherine’s under pressure from the start. Some superstar bowling from Maddie and Lelia, who created lots of pressure and created wickets. Well done to all the girls involved!
The U9C team played a fantastic match against St Catherine’s, coming away with a narrow 2-run victory in a very close game. The girls batted confidently and bowled with great accuracy, showing real teamwork and focus throughout. Quick running between the wickets and tight fielding kept the pressure on, and every player played their part in a strong all round performance. The match went right down to the wire, but the team held their nerve to secure a brilliant win. Florence stood out with an excellent all round display, contributing key runs and bowling consistently well. A deserved POM for her calm and committed performance. The U9D cricket team travelled to St Cats to play a match in sunny and hot conditions. They won the toss and selected to field first. There was some excellent bowling, particularly from Sophia H. Ellie F took a wicket with an amazing catch. At the end of their batting innings St Cats had scored a total of 246. Their target for batting was to sneak more runs than their previous match, which they did. Ivy and Molly batted well scoring some 4s. Congratulations

Reading
A reading from St Paul’s Letter to the Galatians
You are, all of you, sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. All baptised in Christ, you have all clothed yourselves in Christ, and there are no more distinctions between Jew and Greek, slave and free, male and female, but all of you are one in Christ Jesus. Merely by belonging to Christ you are the posterity of Abraham, the heirs he was promised.
Reflection
A focus on the great feast of Corpus On Sunday we as a church celebrated the great feast of Corpus Christi. This is a feast that celebrates the very real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Here are some reflective words from Pope Leo XIV about Corpus Christi: In saving the crowds from hunger, Jesus proclaims that he will save everyone from death. That is the mystery of faith, which we celebrate in the sacrament of the Eucharist. For just as hunger is a sign of our radical needs in this life, so breaking bread is a sign of God’s gift of salvation.
Prayer
We continue to pray for peace in our word. Let us recite and echo the prayer of St Francis as we say together:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is error, the truth; where there is doubt, the faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. Amen.
"If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other."
