22 JANUARY 2024 3 JULY 2023 Message from the Head of Prep

The school has been alive with learning this week, in and out of the classroom. Our EYFS team have been introducing the children to Chinese New Year while pupils in Year 1 have been looking at tessellation. Years 2 and 3 have been exploring the wonders of nature at our Forest School site and Year 3 pupils have also been enjoying the delights of Mrs Millar’s flute playing in the Music Department.

The Science labs have been busy with Year 4 tackling various aspects of practical work and it has been lovely to recognise the achievements of a number of children in Year 5 for their French studies with Linguist Awards. Year 6 took time to reflect upon St Maximilian Kolbe, thinking about his dedication and self-sacrifice. They enjoyed their time with the author Fiorella De Maria, who has published a book about the life of this saint.

Storm Isha brought strong winds followed soon after by Storm Jocelyn, but thankfully our recent sporting fixtures have been able to go ahead. We enjoyed success at the Shrewsbury House tournament and have had matches against a number of local schools this week. Praise must go to our Under 9 and Under 11 teams who were undefeated. Thursday saw us host a very exciting swimming gala and today our Under 10 teams have been in action against Milbourne Lodge and Rokeby. We wish the best of luck to all those involved in the Murray Cup rugby this weekend.

Mr Heaver
