Message from the Headmaster
On Monday, we held a highly entertaining morning with the ‘Easter Eggstravaganza’ in our Nursery. It was a busy event with current and new families involved in the hunt for Easter eggs, biscuit decorating and an egg and spoon race. On Thursday, Year 2 pupils enjoyed a visit to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. It was the perfect place to engage young storytellers with the writing process which inspired some of the world's most-read stories. Year 1 had a wonderful trip to Godstone Farm on Friday to explore, feed the animals and take advantage of the outdoor adventure play areas.
The Spring Soiree was a joyous celebration of the incredible musical talents at Cranmore. Pupils from across both Prep and Senior School performed pieces of music from classical composers, such as Pachelbel and Beethoven, to more contemporary artists, The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I am encouraged to see that there is a noticeable rise in the level and standard of musical performance across the school.
Thank you to the Eco Council for presenting their findings from the recent school pupil survey. Members of the group highlighted the important changes we have put in place to reduce the amount of food wastage at school; the 120 tree saplings that we planted on the Henderson Fields that were donated by the Woodland Trust; and conservation of water in recognition of World Water Day on Wednesday.
We are all excited about the CPA ball this weekend. I look forward to seeing many of you there for what promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable event.

Year 4 Performance of Heroes of Troy
On Wednesday 15th March, Year 4 pupils worked very hard to prepare for their Drama performance, Heroes of Troy. The songs they learnt in Music with Mrs Thornton enhanced the mood and atmosphere of the scenes. Pupils took on the role of the iconic Greek Heroes, such as Achilles, Odysseus and Agamemnon, and retold the story from the Old Soldiers’ memories. Over 10 years of war, he concludes “What was that all about then? And to this day, I don’t know. All I know is this tale of Heroes will outlast me. It’ll live for ever….”
This challenging play with songs was delivered with such confidence and the pupils organised themselves on stage, presenting the characters and historic story with real enthusiasm. Huge congratulations to them!

Lower Prep School Council News
The Lower Prep all voted for the charity they felt they wanted to raise money for and chose the Rainbows Bereavement Support Charity. The Lower Prep School Council wrote and signed a beautiful letter to this special charity. The councillors are busy baking cakes to sell this Friday to raise as much as they can for this great cause.
Reception News
Reception had a wonderful time at Forest School this week. We saw a real life slow worm and frog that Mrs Ellie had found in her garden. The slow worm felt very smooth and the frog was camouflaged to such an extent that we could barely see it. So much fun was had by all!

Nursery News
At Forest School this week the Nursery children had a visit from two creatures who inhabit our Forest School Lead’s garden: a slow worm and a frog! Some of the children enjoyed playing with the diggers in the mud and demonstrating their balancing skills on the slack line. We are focusing on Easter over the next two weeks, and in our RE session the children learnt all about the events leading up to Easter Sunday. The children have really been improving their Yoga positions and had a fun lesson based around traditional nursery rhymes.
