13 NOVEMBER 3 JULY 2023 2023 Message from the Head of Prep

An enormous thank you must go to all of those involved with organising and hosting the football tournament and fireworks on Saturday. We retained the Henkes Shield in the morning with a number of dominant performances and then enjoyed a spectacular display of pyrotechnic illuminations in the evening. On Monday, it was great to see Year 10 leading an assembly for Upper Prep to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week and addressing the importance of not being a bystander but of standing up and speaking out when something is not right. On Tuesday, our EYFS pupils enjoyed a STEM workshop during which they created bridges using an array of classroom materials. The Upper Prep School Council met on Tuesday morning to share their classes’ suggestions for improving our school and enjoy freshly baked pastries. It was then the turn of the Lower Prep School Council to meet on Thursday morning and Mrs Carpenter was very impressed with their ideas although the suggestion to build a school rollercoaster may not make it through the planning process! The Fairtrade Chocolate sale over Friday morning break was a great success. Thanks to the members of our EcoCouncil and School Council for putting that on. It was wonderful to see such an amazing array of socks for Odd Socks Day, recognising that we are different and that our uniqueness should be celebrated. Looking ahead, our rugby season commences in earnest next week so please remember that Year 3 are advised to bring a mouthguard and that mouthguards are compulsory for Year 4 and up.

Mr Heaver
