Message from the Head of Prep
We began this week by reflecting on the courage and bravery of those involved with D-Day and the war effort. We thought about the freedoms we enjoy today as a result of the sacrifices they made. Even though so few veterans remain with us alive today there are family connections between our Cranmore community and those who contributed over the war years, many of whom paid the ultimate price. Our CCF section took part in commemorations at Headley Court to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings and Upper Prep will take part in workshops next week to explore this moment in history.
Across the school, there have been various visitors bringing with them enriching experiences for the children. Following on from World Bee Day, Science Club welcomed a representative from a local beekeeping group to school and learnt a great deal about the importance of bees as well as sampling some delicious honey. Reception through to Year 2 enjoyed an incredible Fairy Tales and Fables workshop and Years 5 and 6 were treated to a fascinating talk by the mathematician Zoe Griffiths.
Thank you to everyone involved with Thursday’s Bring and Buy sale for Cancer Research UK. Our School Councillors did a fantastic job of organising the event and raising funds for a worthy cause. Today we played host to girls from St Teresa’s and Manor House, as they joined our Year 6 cohort for an MFL afternoon with Onatti Productions. Tomorrow we wish the best of luck to those swimmers attending the IAPS Finals at the London Aquatics Centre and we hope that the weather is kind to those coming along to Cranfest.

Year 2 News
Year 2 have also loved visiting Forest School and seeing all the changes! They played a treasure hunt game in partners and had to use directional language to help their partner find the treasure (a feather). They enjoyed identifying the trees now all the leaves are out and climbing them too! We ended the session by toasting marshmallows and making s’mores. Delicious!
Year 2 have enjoyed launching their new topic all about extreme weather. This week they learnt about blizzards. They designed and made sledges that would slide across the heavy snow which they investigated. They also created their own blizzard pictures following a series of steps using masking tape, paint, salt and pens.
At Forest School this week the children collected leaves and flowers to stick on their paper which was then left in the sunshine. The overall effect was beautiful sun leaf pictures. This term we are focusing on transitions and have set up our own Reception classroom in the role play area. The children have really enjoyed dressing up in the school uniform and imaginary classroom play!

Corpus Christi
"Jesus has made Himself the Bread of Life to give us life. Night and day, He is there. If you really want to grow in love, come back to the Eucharist, come back to that Adoration."
Mother Teresa
A Reading from the Gospel of Mark
Reflection
Amen
While they were eating, He took bread, said the blessing, broke it, gave it to them, and said, "Take it; this is my body." Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and they all drank from it. He said to them, "This is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed for many.”
The Word of the Lord Thanks be to God
Reflection
This week we focus on the great Feast of Corpus Christi. This is a major feast within the church. Corpus Christi are the Latin Words, 'The Body of Christ.' Jesus promised that He would be with us always. As Catholics we believe in the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. Every time we go to Mass, Jesus is truly present in body, blood, soul and divinity. He is there. This should give us encouragement and strength.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to be generous: to serve you as you deserve; to give and not to count the cost; to fight and not to heed the wounds; to toil and not to seek to rest; to labour and to ask for no reward save that of knowing I do your will.
Amen
