With competence in mechatronics, you will develop new systems by combining elements of electrical engineering, computer science, and mechanical engineering.

Minimum Admission Requirements
National Senior Certificate (NSC/ Grade 12) with: *A minimum achievement rating of 4 in at least four NSC 20-credit subjects.
• English, Home or First Additional Language (4)
• Mathematics (4); Technical Mathematics (5)
• Physical Sciences (4); Technical Science (5)
Recommended: One of the following:
• Electrical Technology (4); Engineering Graphics & Design (4); Mechanical Technology (4)
National Certificate (NC)
• English (N4) (60%); Mathematics (N4) (60%); Engineering Science (N4) (60%)
National Certificate/ Vocational (NCV)
• English (5) (60−69%); Mathematics (5) (60−69%); Engineering Science (3) (min 60%)
• Recommended: Electro Technology (3) (50–69%); Mechatronic Systems (3) (50–69%)
The department utilises an Admission Point Score (APS) as selection criteria once your minimum admission requirements are satisfied. You have to score a minimum of 30 on the APS for the mainstream course; 27–29 for the ECP, 23–26 should you be wait-listed.
Subject to the space availability, consideration will be given for admitting students to the Extended Curriculum Programme (ECP) with: English (4); with one of either Mathematics/ Physical Science (4), and the other (3), with a minimum of 45%, or Technical Maths/ Technical Science (5) and the other (4) with a minimum of 55%.
