POLICE INVESTIGATE BURNING CAR IN CORNFIELD

He is due in court on August 13th. • Charles Champney, 34, of St. Albans was arrested for driving with a criminally suspended license on Interstate 89 in Colchester on Friday evening. He is due in court on August 28th. • Roxanne Prevost, 26, of St. Hubert, Quebec was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after police stopped her for speeding on Interstate 89 in St. Albans Town on Sunday. Troopers were conducting a speed enforcement detail when they clocked the woman speeding around 10:44pm. She was cited into court on July 30th to answer to the charge.
Vermont State Police Trooper Benjamin Weed said he is investigating a suspected arson in Highgate on Friday morning after police were notified of a 2012 Volkswagon Jetta that had been lit on fire in a cornfield in Highgate. According to the officer, the Highgate Fire Department responded to extinguish the vehicle, which was in a cornfield near 377 Gore Road, and is a stone’s throw from the owner’s home, according to court records.

• Jamie Mason, 30, of Richford was arrested and charged with driving with a criminally suspended license as well as disorderly conduct after police were called to a River Street residence at around 2:30am on Thursday. Police say they learned the whereabouts of Mason about an hour and a half later, which also led them to charge him with DLS.
