Bioderma takes pride in being a brand that reconciles both worlds of science and life. For over 45 years, ECOBIOLOGY NAOS has been Bioderma’s scientific approach to dermatology. Understanding skin like no one else, Bioderma treats the skin as a living ecosystem that needs to be preserved and protected. Bioderma’s dermo cosmetic products restore skin’s balance by relaunching its own natural biological mechanisms for long-lasting efficacy.
By Frank Turco
The Start of the ECOBIOLOGY Journey
NAOS was founded by Jean-Noel Thorel, a pharmacist biologist and at an early start, he wanted to revolutionize the beauty industry. He began as a young director in the pharmaceutical industry but quickly ventured on his own to start his career as a designer and inventory. He quickly built and formed trusted relationships with scientists, dermatologists, pharmacists and pharmaceutical laboratories allowing him to create and sell products combining a biological function within the epidermis and a cosmetic surface function.
Dermatologist Recommended
With over 150,000 dermatologists and healthcare professionals in their network, Bioderma uses this global group to support their vision of ECOBIOLOGY. These medical professionals are part of Bioderma’s research group that helps develop dermatological skincare products that meet the specific needs of each skin type. The Bioderma brand considers the skin as an ECOsystem that acts with the skin’s BIOLOGY to form an ECOBIOLOGY that focuses on healthy, radiant and stronger skin. This has become their unique selling proposition.
H2O: A Revolutionary Ingredient
It was in 1995 that Bioderma first imagined micellar water. With the launch of their innovative 2-in-1 make up remover, Bioderma was able provide an incredible solution to the traditional combinations of cleansing milk and lotion in this category. Sensibio H2O was originally designed for dermatologists to care for their patients’ sensitive skin but quickly gained popularity and made available in pharmacies allowing other skin professionals and ultimately consumers, the opportunity to use this revolutionary HERO product. Make up artists quickly took note of H2O’s incredible revolutionary capabilities and began applying it to their clients. They appreciated the product’s high tolerance, simplicity and efficacy. With a single bottle, they could now apply, remove and reapply make up endlessly without damaging their client’s (models) skin. Over the past 25 years since its creation, a bottle of Sensibio H2O is sold every second around the world. This proprietary biomimetic formula captures and remove 99% of impurities and makeup. It interacts with the skin’s natural biological mechanisms to lastingly soothe while respecting the skin’s microbiome and balance. Today, Sensibio H2O is aimed at the skin concerned, skin conscious, and skin professionals.
Sensibio H2O: Celebrating 30 years with A Collaboration Like No Other
In spring 2025, Bioderma’s HERO product Sensibio H2O will take on a new face as it joins forces with one of the world’s most famous and iconic women to celebrate it’s 30 years of CARE. Bioderma and NAOS have partnered with the one and only Victoria Beckham to celebrate this incredible product and journey. A newly created bottle will hit the shelves in celebration of the ICONIC collaboration.
From her early years as a teen, Victoria was an avid user of Bioderma’s Sensibio H20. She found it to be the best solution for her skin and that has stuck with her. Today, she continues to use the product and will often have to hunt one of her bottles down, in her daughter Harper’s room. Victoria Beckham’s iconic VB monogram has been introduced on the limited edition 30-year bottle, which is set for distribution in retail and online in early March. The monogram bottle is in limited quantities so you will want to get your hands on one quickly. And her face and videos are the focus of the 30th anniversary campaign. Victoria Beckham not only brings her beautiful skin to this celebration but her well respected and trusted personality – she expresses empowerment and confidence like no other. Back in 1995, Bioderma created the first leave-on formula that cleanses the skin in one single use with the greatest respect of sensitive skin. The cleansing process included the removal of all impurities leaving the skin perfectly cleansed and free from environmental aggressors. But beyond cleansing the skin, this product offers skincare benefits with dermatological advanced formula technology. Sensibio H2O also helps the skin find its natural balance with DAF™ technology that increases the threshold of tolerance of sensitive skin.
A bottle of Sensibio H2O is sold every second around the world.

25 years of LIFE SCIENCES EXPERIENCE
By Frank Turco
5 years FORMULATING a PATENTED PROTOCOL 1 SKIN REJUVENATION Mission!
Founded by two CANADIAN innovators with a passion for skin health, IDC Dermo was born from a commitment to push skincare science further. From the start, the founders pledged to develop high-performance solutions grounded in dermatological research— formulas designed to enhance skin vitality, boost confidence, and promote overall well-being. And it was this pledge and strong commitment that has made IDC Dermo a top recognized brand for achieving skincare results today.
“Our25-yearjourneyinscientificresearch,dermatology andproductdevelopmenthasbeendrivenbya commitmenttointegrityandexcellence.Ourzero -compromisephilosophymeanswewillneverdiminish thepotencyofactiveingredients, andbycollaboration withtopdermatologists, scientists, andchemistswe deliverpremiumproductsthatembodythisprinciple. The IDC Promise
The IDC brand DNA is focused on 3 areas that ensure the best possible ingredients, products, and benefits to consumers. Skin expertise is at the root of what IDC stands for. IDC truly exists to support consumers achieve skin beauty and confidence in their skin. Efficacious Formulas are a critical base to all the products within the brand. IDC’s formulas are dermatologically tested and hypoallergic for safety and efficacy to ensure products are gentle, enhance the skin’s appearance while caring for the skin barrier.
Continuous innovation is delivered through their proprietary innovation LAB. This LAB ensures that IDC continues to improve formulas with new actives and studies that bring better products to consumers. And it is this IDC Innovation Lab that has allowed IDC to introduce a patented skin transformation protocol that is focused on meticulous ingredient selections for healthier, visibly younger-looking skin. This protocol is known as ReGen16 and after 5 years of development, it is actively used in IDC products to ensure the best possible results for the skin.
ReGen16 Protocol – Delivering Transformative Results for Consumers
IDC Dermo has developed a formulation to design efficacious skincare products. This use of this protocol addresses the 16 known mechanisms of aging at a cellular level. It can effectively reprogram the skin to act younger. From REVITALIZING to RENEWING, ReGen16 Protocol can change the way your skin behaves to make you look and feel younger. It’s a GAME CHANGER in the industry and
And it doesn’t stop there!
On top of the incredible ReGen16 protocol, IDC Dermo has mastered pre-menopausal and menopausal skincare needs. As a brand that is known for products to help deal with every life stage and skin need, IDC Dermo has incredible clinical-grade products that help the skin survive the life stage and in particular menopause which can have a severe impact on one’s skin.
Best in Class Products
The IDC brand’s products have been recognized in the industry as Best in Class having won several accolades and Canadian awards. From moisturizers to hydration, the IDC product range is simply outstanding. The core program includes ULTIME, which provides nourishing restorative care for mature, menopausal skin. The impact of menopause on the skin can be severe as it causes the skin to become drier, thinner, more prone to wrinkles and saggy due to a significant decline in collagen production leading to loss of skin elasticity and firmness. EXPRESS is another core product range for consumers with a busy lifestyle. This product range offers all-in-one anti-aging formulas, supercharged for Face, Eyes and Neck, effectively replacing day and night regiments. And BOOST offers highly concentrated formulas on key active ingredients recommended by dermatologists to boost your results. Above having an innovative and results driven product assortment for women, IDC has not forgotten about the men. IDC offers products for men focusing on line-reducing firming care. The product uses the patented skin protocol ReGen16 to address signs of aging like wrinkles, lines, and loss of firmness in their skin. The product is MenG2 – an allin-one anti-wrinkle and firming cream.
NEW FOR SPRING – Anti-aging meets SPF.
IDC Dermo’s LAB continually develops exclusive products that revolutionize the industry. Launching this month, IDC has developed 2 new anti-aging sunscreen fluids with SPF 50+. SOLIS is the latest development, endorsed with the official Certified Canadian Dermatologist logo, that contains formulas that guarantee the highest level of sun protection with PA++++. UVA and UVB coverage thanks to advanced solar technology that uses 100% mineral filters. These formulas include dermatologically active ingredients with anti-aging and anti-blemish benefits. They include smoothing wrinkles, reducing pigmentation spots while promoting a more even complexion. Available in natural and tinted versions.
Made in CANADA
Never has the statement “made in Canada” been more important than at this time and IDC Dermo is proudly Canadian – born in Quebec. Their innovation LAB is also in Canada ensuring that they are always at the leading edge of the industry with ingredients and product development for all Canadians. “We’ve had a fair number of clients from Quebec over the years asking for the Solis+ SPF 50 mineral powder sunscreen. Several have told us they like using it on their scalps, as the powder formula makes it easy to apply.” – Jessica, Shoppers Drug Mart

The trend to having glossy lips is nothing new to the makeup industry. Lip oils, glosses and variations of lipsticks have drawn a lot of attention to the lips. But not all glosses are treated equally.
GLO$$ by Good Gloss recently entered the makeup scene with an innovative take on gloss. Before you even get into the incredible product, the packaging stands out. It is simple and luxurious and in an adorable pink colour story.

Trend No. 1
Holo Glam
Popularized by the Y2K aesthetic and Pinterest’s 2025 “aura makeup” trend, holographic eye makeup has been spotted everywhere lately, including on celebs like Sabrina Carpenter, Precious Lee and countless influencers. The look is very spring-friendly, says celebrity makeup artist Nate Palacios. “We are beginning to pull inspiration from natural elements around us and that includes nods to the aquatic world.”To get this look, start with an eyeshadow primer. For minimal makeup wearers, Palacios suggests trying an icy metallic blue in the inner corner of the eye. Those who are more adventurous can sweep the same metallic colour along the lower lash line for a dreamy look. “A glowy blush around the perimeter of the face and swept onto the eyelid (rather than the apples of the cheeks) gives an ethereal mermaidlike cheek,” she adds. To amplify the colour and finish, use a brush to pick up the metallic product first and then spritz a bit of setting spray on it.

Trend No. 2
Arch Revival
Endorsed by trendsetters like Gabbriette and Chappell Roan, super thin brows are trending again. “Makeup feels more playful right now,” says celebrity makeup artist Tami El Sombati. “In 2025, skinny brows are almost a little rebellious after so many years of fuller brows being at the forefront.” The look may seem like it requires a dramatic transformation, but it can be achieved without getting out the tweezers. For less commitment, try shaving your brows. “A single blade facial razor can be a great tool to shape and keep your brows thin, and it’s non-committal,” El Sombati says, adding that plucking can be forever. To achieve thin brows on set, she often glues down natural brows and then conceals them before sketching a skinny brow on top. Depending on your brow shape, she says, you can also try saturating your brow hairs using a firm hold gel, and then pinching your brow hairs together to create a skinnier shape.

the last few years. How does JVN Hair stay ahead of the curve with high-performance products that stay true to the brand’s values?
I work really closely with our product development team and our chemists to make sure that we’re making things that are interesting, that are needed, and that bring something unique to the market that isn’t already there.
When I found hemisqualane and realized what a good ingredient it is for hair, that was a large part of our battle. Hemisqualane, just by nature of the molecule itself, already is ahead of the curve. I think hemisqualane continues to be the thing that sets our line apart. It’s so innovative in the way that it comes from fermented sugarcane. The shine and the finish that it gives hair — I haven’t seen it repeated with anything else.

Innovation & Confidence
By Lora Grady
Few people bring as much joy and wisdom (and fabulous hair flips) to the beauty world as Jonathan Van Ness. The Queer Eye star, hairstylist, and founder of JVN Hair has built a brand that’s as inclusive as it is innovative—proving that high-performance haircare can also be sustainable and accessible.
On a chilly January afternoon in Toronto, I got to see Van Ness in action. While they cut and styled away, I asked them about choosing cutting-edge ingredients, how to get super shiny hair and the power of taking a moment for self care.
How do you apply your hairstyling expertise when it comes to creating products?
In my career, I have done so many people’s hair that there is a comma in that number. I’ve been doing hair since I was a teenager, so I can apply so many experiences that people have shared with me over the years. I had clients who I met when I was 18 and they were in their 70s, and I did their hair for the rest of their lives. People have really different experiences at different stages of their life. I’ve really been fortunate to get to take advantage of those experiences and find out what clients were looking for. Like, what do you need in a product? I’m grateful that I’ve had such a breadth of experience to bring to JVN Hair.

What product is key when it comes to getting healthy-looking shine?
The Rapid Repair Bond Gloss is going to be gorgeous. It really gives the most beautiful shine. One thing I love about it that it takes less than a minute and it lasts for so many washes. The enemy of shine is over-washing and over-heat-styling without a heat protectant. If you’re washing and blow-drying your hair every single day with no heat protectant, you’re going to struggle with dullness. One thing that consumers don’t realize is that your hair is really similar to fabric; it’s like jeans. If you wash and dry your jeans every day, they’ll be a tattered mess at the end of the year. So too much wetting and drying is not good, especially if you’re not using heat protectant. If you are a daily washer, you’re an especially good candidate for Bond Gloss, especially because it’s going to help put back so much of the shine that you’re taking out of it.
For folks who are really busy, what’s one way that they can incorporate self-care into their haircare regimen?
One thing that I do is apply Pre-Wash Scalp Oil throughout the scalp and massage. I’ll turn on some
spa music, and I apply it all the way through my ends. I like to take 10 to 15 minutes, but sometimes I only have three minutes, and I still do it and get beautiful benefits.
If you had to choose a favorite product from your line, what would it be?
There is a legit two-way tie. I’m most proud of Air Dry Cream for how efficient it is. I wanted to make a product that was like a one-stop shop, and would play well with others. The hold and the moisture that it offers is really nice, because you don’t have to use 10 million products — you really can get away with just that one. But if you want to add more, you can. I’m really proud of the innovation and how much time it saves, and how many people have learned to love their curls. It makes me kind of emotional, because I never loved my hair growing up, and I got made fun of for it a lot. Seeing people find joy for the first time in their hair with Air Dry Cream really makes me feel so fulfilled. The other one I’m really, really proud of is our Embody Shampoo and Conditioner. Just because you have textured hair doesn’t mean that it’s really dense. Someone can have 4C curly hair and still be dealing with traction alopecia, or have menopause and their

hair gets a lot finer. Embody is formulated with aloe leaf juice so it’s super lightweight. It also has caffeine for the hair follicle. It’s a really cool formula.
Are there any particular innovations in hairstyling or treatments that you’re hoping to tackle next?
I’m really proud of the Rapid Repair Bond Gloss. I know there are a few other ones on the market, but our bonding agent is an algae-derived sugar and that’s really unique. And the rice water protein is so light. Everyone is going to get more shine. Without any spoilers, I’m really excited for something we have coming out this year. We’ve been working on it since the beginning of 2023. And our new parent company [Windsong Global] has been really supportive in letting us stay true to our mission.
How can beauty professionals help their customers see themselves as their most fabulous, confident selves?
’s HaircareHeroes
Confidence isn’t a journey that you can see. It’s not like you learn how to be confident, and then you never have days where you don’t feel great. So to expect ourselves to always feel like we’re our best selves is an unrealistic expectation. Sometimes I find myself saying, “You’re strong enough to feel your feelings. If you’re going through something today, I believe that you’re strong enough to feel this. And then you’re going to have a better day tomorrow.”
One thing I do is I ask a lot of questions. If someone says they want to cut off all their hair, I’m like, “What are you going through?” Sometimes when we’re not feeling our most confident, it’s not about the outside but what’s happening on the inside. And then sometimes it’s just that their hair is puffy, and they don’t like how puffy it is, and I’m like, “oh, well that’s Air Dry Cream. You just need a little bit more moisture, don’t freak out!”
Strengthen your strands, minimize the appearance of split ends and protect against heat damage with this serum, made with niacinamide and lemon protein.

colleagues to thrive and reach their full potential. The Canadian team, with its entrepreneurial spirit and agile mindset, is a constant source of inspiration. Together, we are pushing boundaries, embracing innovation, and driving L’Oréal Canada forward as a leader in the beauty industry.
Canada is very advanced when it comes to innovation, AI and new technologies. We are very fortunate to have ModiFace, a Toronto based company acquired by L’Oréal Groupe in 2019, right here in Canada. ModiFace in the leader in augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) specializing in beauty applications. They develop technology that allow consumers to virtually try on makeup, hairstyles, and other beauty products using their smartphones or other devices. These technologies are featured into our brands’ websites and apps.
This acquisition provided L’Oréal with a powerful tool to enhance the customer experience. By allowing customers to virtually try on products before purchasing, it reduced the uncertainty associated with online beauty shopping and likely increased sales conversions. The technology also allows for a more personalized beauty experience as consumers can experiment with different looks and find the products best suited for their individual needs and preferences.
How L’Oréal’s Cutting-Edge AI and AR Technologies Redefine the Beauty Experience
Virtual Try-Ons (AR): Thanks to Toronto-based startup ModiFace, L’Oréal brands can offer ARpowered virtual try-ons for makeup and hair color, enhancing shopping experiences and boosting consumer confidence. Many L’Oréal Groupe brands offer these try-on services online, including Armani Beauty, L’Oréal Paris and Maybelline.
Personal AI Beauty Assistant (AI): L’Oréal Paris is launching Beauty Genius, a Gen AI-powered personal beauty assistant available 24/7. This app provides a rich, immersive experience to learn anything about beauty in a simple, safe and easy way, through personalized diagnostics, recommendations, and Q&A.
Skin Diagnostics (AI): AI tools, like those used by La Roche-Posay SpotScan, analyze skin conditions for more precise product recommendations.
L’Oreal’s Sustainability Mission
“The L’Oréal for the Future program, launched in 2020, embodies the Groupe’s ambition in terms of sustainability and the conviction that companies can be part of the solution to the challenges the world is facing,” says Verhulst-Santos. The company set bold, measurable targets for 2030 on climate, water, biodiversity and natural resources.
• L’Oréal uses AI and data analysis to optimize packaging design, minimizing material usage and maximizing recyclability. “We are also exploring innovative, bio-based packaging materials,” says Verhulst-Santos.
• “We develop eco-friendly formulations with sustainably sourced ingredients and reduced water footprints.” In 2023, 65% of the company’s ingredients were biobased or derived from abundant minerals. By 2030, the objective is to have 95% biobased ingredients, 100% of which will be traceable and derived from sustainable sources.
• This year, L’Oréal is committed to achieving 100% renewable energy in all its plants, distribution centers and offices (a goal already achieved in Canada!).
• By 2030, 100% of the water used in the company’s industrial processes will be recycled and reused in a loop on our sites. “We are extremely proud that our Montreal plant was the first factory of all L’Oréal sites to filter and reuse washing water,” Verhulst-Santos says. “Launched in 2013, the filtration unit saves nearly 16 million liters of water per year.”
• L’Oréal already uses 100% FSC or PEFC certified paper for all its packaging.
• Refill and reuse programs: L’Oréal is increasing innovative refill and reuse programs for some of its product lines, reducing the need for single-use packaging.
Looking Good, Feeling Better: Madeline’s Volunteer Story
Fashion and beauty lover Madeline Della Mora has been a core part of Look Good Feel Better as a Cosmetic Advisor Volunteer. Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) is the only charitable program dedicated to helping people manage the appearance-related effects of cancer and its treatment for over 30 years.
This year, Madeline celebrates eight years of volunteering with LGFB. “You’re never alone while volunteering with LGFB,” Madeline said. “This volunteer work has been something that I look forward to so much— especially because of the sense of community and friendship shared among volunteers. Going through cancer treatment is hard, but you should not feel alone. That’s why we are here!”
One of the most challenging aspects of a cancer diagnosis is the loss of identity that comes with it. Body image is a critical psychosocial issue for patients with cancer because they often undergo significant changes to their appearance, like hair loss and skin changes. At the heart of the LGFB programs are complimentary workshops that address the appearance-related impact of cancer and its treatment, while offering people a community where they can connect with others facing similar challenges.
“Many of the side effects of treatment are common. At LGFB, we are overflowing with products and techniques to make the appearancerelated side effects more tolerable and manageable,” shared Madeline. “The moments I cherish the most are candid interactions between participants. In one workshop, a woman who had attended years ago and is now cancer-free came with her recently diagnosed friend. She took out the wig she wore during her treatment and let her friend try
it on. It suited her so well that when she went to return it, the woman said, ‘Actually, you keep it.’ There were tears and hugs, but this moment was about more than just passing on a wig. It symbolized the support, love, and camaraderie that our LGFB workshops embody.”
As the seasons change, Madeline reminds us of some must-know tips for skincare—starting with cleaning our makeup bags! “Did you know products should ONLY be used for three to six months? Once they’re opened, oxygen begins to degrade the formula, and they’ll start to expire—regardless of the use-by date. And sun-screen is a non-negotiable all year round when we’re spending time with our skin exposed!”
“The moments I cherish the most are candid interactions between participants.”
Madeline is proud to support those facing cancer through LGFB workshops both online and in-person.

I have multiple JetPeels in my practice because I love how seamlessly they enhance every treatment. JetPeel elevates laser procedures by improving outcomes and speeding up recovery, transforming them into a more luxurious experience. I often pair it with pre- and post-laser care, IPL, RF microneedling, and topical exosomes. It’s especially effective for concerns like acne, rosacea, and hair thinning. Patients love the faster results and long-term benefits.
Dr. Roni Munk MunkMD Dermatology
We’re always impressed with how the JetPeel treatment is multi-purpose in addressing various skin conditions. This transdermal infusion device combines lymphatic massage, exfoliation, and infusion of active skin care. This treatment results in improved skin texture, hydration, rejuvenation and more!

Dr. Sabrina Stewart Midwest Laser Centre
We offer our patients JetPeel for facial and skin rejuvenation, lymphatic drainage post-surgery, and application of Exosomes for hair treatments. We recommend Hale Derma hypochlorous acid (HOCl) with JetPeel pre-treatment to cleanse the skin and post-treatment to aid in wound healing and minimize scarring, as the JetPeel optimally delivers the medical grade, concentrated HOCl into the skin.
Dr. Benjamin Taylor MARA Medical Aesthetics
“ ”
The JetPeel is one of my favourite treatments because my patients always tell me how much they love the results. I have a lot of patients who are hesitant about injectables, even microneedling, being needle phobic, but the JetPeel is able to deliver infusion of ingredients into the dermis at 200m/s without needles and pain. Its performance is truly amazing, one of a kind.

FREEDOM FROM AGE
By Frank Turco
As Prestilux celebrates 55 years in business, President Marie Farel reflects on its journey, key achievements, and future ambitions. From earning recognition as one of Deloitte Canada’s Best Managed Companies to expanding into the haircare market with T3 Micro, Prestilux continues to evolve, innovate, and shape the beauty industry in Canada.
1. Congratulations on reaching this incredible milestone of 55 years in business. I suspect there have been a lot of ups and downs over the years. What stands out for you as the most memorable moment — or is it still to come?
“Thank you so much! Reaching 55 years in business is an incredible milestone for Prestilux, and there have been many defining moments along the way. However, one that stands out for me is when we were named one of Deloitte Canada’s Best Managed Companies just three years after I became President. It was a proud moment for our entire team, a clear reflection of our hard work and shared commitment to excellence. While we’re proud of this achievement, I’m even more excited about the future. It’s the part of our journey that truly fuels me as we continue to lead, innovate, and shape the beauty industry.”
2. Prestilux has seen brands come and go over the past 55 years for various reasons. Is there a brand you wish you still represented or one you regret not acquiring when the opportunity arose?
“Over the years, we’ve been fortunate to work with many incredible brands, and while some have moved on, witnessing a brand reaching the point where it stands on its own is simply part of the game! Christian Dior, for example, was a key brand that sparked the creation of Prestilux. We’ve also been privileged to be part of the growth of brands like Roc and the launch of Bioderma in Canada. Instead of regret, we take pride in the role we’ve played in their success. Looking forward, our focus is on the future as we aim to be the trusted Canadian partner for the next generation of iconic beauty brands.”
3. Curating beloved brands is central to Prestilux’s success. How do you select which brands to bring to the Canadian market, and what makes a brand worthy of representing?
“At Prestilux, selecting brands for the Canadian market starts with understanding the specific needs and preferences of Canadian consumers. We seek brands with strong growth potential that align with current trends or address gaps in the market. It’s equally important that these brands view Canada as a priority, with a commitment to long-term partnerships. Furthermore, we ensure that each new brand complements our existing portfolio and supports the values we’ve built over the years. A brand worthy of representation is one that brings a unique value to consumers, forging deep and lasting relationships.”
4. Prestilux values close relationships with its retail partners. How do these partnerships contribute to your long-term success, and how do you maintain that level of trust and collaboration?
“We work hand in hand with our retail partners, adapting closely to the unique environment of the Canadian retail landscape. We understand the specific constraints and consumer behaviors in this market, and we aim to provide tailored solutions that meet both the challenges and opportunities our partners face. Our longterm success is rooted in this flexibility and in the trust we build through consistent, transparent communication. We pride ourselves on our agility and our ability to quickly respond to the needs of our retail partners, ensuring that together we can build strong, sustainable brands that thrive in the Canadian market.”

reflects the spirit of our industry— evolving. It’s a place where we can
5. Beauty advisors are often the face of the brands in stores, directly interacting with customers. What role do you think they play in shaping consumer perceptions of the brands Prestilux represents?
“Beauty advisors play a vital role in shaping how consumers perceive the brands we represent. They are often the first point of contact and the voice that communicates a brand’s story, values, and benefits. Their expertise, passion, and personalized approach create trust with consumers, fostering long-term loyalty and building that
continuously evolve to meet the demands of both our partners and consumers, responding quickly to challenges and opportunities. A key factor in our longevity is how we approach the brands we represent — treating each one as our own, with the utmost care, passion, and dedication. This hands-on approach has helped us build long-lasting relationships with both brands and retail partners. Looking ahead, we’re focused on preparing for the brands of tomorrow, staying ahead of trends, and embracing the next wave of innovation. For others in the distribution space, my advice is simple: stay flexible, committed, and always anticipate what comes next.”
together as we shape the future of across several key categories like skincare, makeup, fragrances, baby care, and natural health. Are there plans to enter any new product categories in the near future?
“Yes, we are always exploring new opportunities to expand and diversify our portfolio. A recent exciting development is our new partnership with T3 Micro, a leading brand in hair tools. This addition allows us to tap into the highly dynamic haircare segment, which is seeing rapid growth and innovation. We’re thrilled to offer our retail partners and consumers access to premium styling tools that align with the high standards and quality that Prestilux represents.”
9. Looking ahead, what trends do you think will shape the cosmetics and beauty industry over the next decade?
“Looking ahead, several key trends are set to shape the beauty industry in the coming decade. Sustainability and eco-consciousness will continue to dominate, with consumers increasingly seeking brands that prioritize clean ingredients, eco-friendly packaging, and ethical practices. The rise of personalized beauty solutions, powered by technology and data, will also play a major role, as consumers expect products tailored to their unique needs. Additionally, the integration of wellness and beauty will gain momentum, with a focus on holistic approaches to skincare and selfcare. Lastly, the growing influence of digital platforms and social media will continue to drive trends, with virtual try-ons, influencer partnerships, and direct-to-consumer models redefining how beauty brands connect with their audience.”
10. Many of our readers are beauty advisors from different retailers across the country. What message would you like to share with them as you continue to bring incredible products to Canadian consumers?
“To all the beauty advisors across the country, thank you for being the heart and soul of the beauty industry. Your expertise and dedication make a difference in every customer interaction. Keep sharing your passion for the brands we represent, as you are the ones who shape the product experience for consumers. Your role is invaluable, and we look forward to continuing to work together to bring the world’s most loved beauty brands to Canadians.”
11. Navigating economic challenges like tariffs is a growing concern for the industry. How do you plan to manage these issues, and do you think distributors are in a better or worse position than manufacturers?
“Economic challenges, including tariffs, are a reality that we need to navigate carefully. At Prestilux, we’re committed to maintaining a flexible and proactive approach to mitigate the impact of these challenges. We work closely with our suppliers and retail partners to manage costs while ensuring we continue offering value to our customers. In terms of position, all parties are exposed. Our priority remains to offer the best beauty and wellness solutions to end consumers, sourcing these solutions from the very best brands in the world, across all continents.”

Electrolytes are bringing their moisture-boosting power from the gym to your skincare routine—but is the hype real? Here’s what experts say.
By Lora Grady
When you hear electrolytes, you probably think of post-workout hydration and sports drinks. But these minerals are making waves in skincare now, too. With their natural electrical charge, electrolytes are said to help draw water deep into the skin, boosting hydration, strengthening the barrier, and enhancing overall radiance. As the beauty world leans into high-performance hydration, electrolyte-infused formulas are quickly becoming a must-have for dewy, plump skin. Electrolytes are essential minerals (including potassium, sodium bicarbonate, and chloride) naturally found in the body, says Dr. Lisa Kellett, dermatologist and founder of DLK on Avenue in Toronto. “Basically, we need them to regulate volume status in the body, for muscle contractions and for nerve signaling,” she explains. So far, Dr. Kellett adds, “there’s not a lot of evidence-based medicine to support their use in skincare.” While the research may be limited, some skincare experts tout the power of electrolytes when it comes to maintaining optimal hydration. “Electrolytes are essential minerals that help regulate the skin’s hydration balance,” says Rachelle Séguin,
co-founder and president of Omy Lab. She explains that they work by attracting and retaining moisture within the skin barrier, which is crucial for maintaining healthy, plump skin. Electrolytes like magnesium, calcium, and potassium replenish and strengthen the skin’s natural barrier, helping to defend against environmental stressors.
Omy Lab formulates its products with electrolyte-rich aquifer water, avoiding the use of demineralized water commonly found in skincare. According to Séguin, this approach helps address the growing prevalence of sensitive skin, ensuring a stronger and more resilient skin barrier. While electrolytes may not yet have widespread scientific backing in skincare, brands like Omy Lab see their potential for improving hydration and supporting skin health, particularly for those with dryness, sensitivity, or inflammation. Whether they become a staple ingredient or remain a niche trend, their role in skincare is definitely one to watch.

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

tiste Mondino, Baz Luhrmann, Jean-Pierre Jeunet -, Martin Scorsese…

L’insolent Very Irrésistible de Givenchy.
