Celebrating our Teachers!
We celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week from May 1-5. Campuses celebrated teachers with homemade barbecue, treats and goodies!
Campuses celebrated with an array of themes including Hollywood glamour and dogs! No matter how it was celebrated, one theme remained the same: appreciation!

Technology coordinator featured in CoSN newsletter
Brandon Manrow, coordinator of business information systems, was featured in the Consortium for School Network’s (CoSN) newsletter.
CCISD received CoSN’s Community Leadership Award for Digital Equity recently.
“Corpus Christi ISD Technology Department is very security conscious. Everything that we do seems to have an information security aspect to it,” Manrow said in the newsletter.
Congratulations, April Above the Line winners!
Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez recently announced Above the Line winners for April 2023! Three employees were surprised at their respective campuses or offices with news they were selected. Congratulations!
Dr. Maria Iyescas, Coordinator of Mental Health Services
Dr. Iyescas has organized various community events that have made a great impact on the lives of students and families. She coordinated the opening of the Caring Corner, and Back to School events, where families could receive clothing and other supplies. She has also collaborated with the Coastal Bend Food Bank to host mobile food pantries for our families in need. Her love and commitment to help those in need does not go unrecognized.
Eric Cuevas, Paraprofessional, Grant Middle School
Mr. Cuevas goes Above the Line when it comes to forming positive relationships with students, staff and parents. Students often greet him with a fist bump and call him “grandpa” in the hallways. He truly cares about the students’ classes and hobbies. Mr. Cuevas helps in the cafeteria, checks in with students and is heavily involved with our AE classrooms. There is no doubt that his smile has a positive impact on his co-workers.
Jenna Ruiz-Ortiz, Science Teacher, Metro Prep
Mrs. Ruiz-Ortiz is one of the foundations of the Metro Program. She guides and provides confidence our 7th and 8th grade students need to be successful. She challenges students to be well-rounded individuals in all they do. She is a great science teacher. Year after year, students say Mr. Ruiz-Ortiz is the reason they have been successful.
