On Tuesday, March 19, CCISD staff, Teacher of the Year finalists, and members of the media gathered to hear Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez make the announcement of the winners of this year’s Teacher of the Year program. The Teacher of the Year selection committee chose Azita Pardom from Stanley Kostoryz Elementary School as the Elementary Teacher of the Year and Ryan Bennett from Roy Miller High School and Metro Prep School of Design as Secondary Teacher of the Year. Azita Pardom has been teaching for 3 years and is a 4th grade teacher at Stanley Kostoryz Elementary School. Ms. Pardom believes there is no greater reward than being part of a child’s development. Her teaching philosophy is to not only hope but to insist that a learner be the best they can be. Ryan Bennett has also been teaching for 3 years. He is an 8th grade teacher in the Metro Prep program as well as an AP U.S. History teacher at Roy Miller High School. Part of his teaching philosophy is to teach through a high-energy approach to traditional lecture and the incorporation of diverse teaching strategies to provide his pupils the opportunity to grow as students, citizens and human beings. Congratulations Azita and Ryan! Thank you for making us #CCISDproud.
