CCISD announces district administrators

As CCISD plans for the upcoming school year, the district continues updating the community regarding new leadership assignments. The district has filled three key positions: Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Executive Director of Construction and Project Management, and Director of Special Programs.

Dr. Sandra Clement has been promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction. Clement joined district administration in 2019 after 12 years as a campus leader, including principal of Foy H. Moody High School. Most recently, she served as Chief Officer of School Improvement and Innovation. Her work in school improvement led to increased accountability scores for 22 schools. She holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, master’s degrees in counseling and educational administration, and a doctorate in educational leadership, all from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Honors include regional awards from the Education Service Center and H-E-B as well as state-level recognition from PTA, Texas Association of Secondary School Principals and Association of Texas Professional Educators.

“We weren’t ready for Dr. Clement to retire just yet!” said Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “The energy and passion she brings to her work, as well as her breadth and depth of experience, makes this dynamic leader the right fit at the right time.”

CCISD welcomes Trent Wagner back to the district as Executive Director of Construction and Project Management. Most recently, he served as project manager at Christus Spohn Health System. His career began in CCISD, where he was a site maintenance lead foreman. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business from Texas A&M University Kingsville and a master’s in business administration-project management from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.

“We are looking forward to benefiting from Mr. Wagner’s business experience and familiarity with our district,” Hernandez said. “Building new schools and significantly renovating others is an important part of our mission to serve our community, and we are grateful to have Mr. Wagner’s leadership in this important role.”

Additionally, the district named Teresa Jo Wright Director of Special Programs, which includes bilingual education and the Office for Students in Transition. In addition to her experience at Education Service Center, Region 2, she served as superintendent of Laneville ISD for seven years. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University and a master’s degree from Walden University as well as her superintendent’s certification.

“Ms. Wright is a highly experienced educator and administrator,” Hernandez said. “We are delighted to welcome her to CCISD and look forward to benefiting from her leadership.”

Corpus Christi ISD is on a Monday-Thursday summer schedule through the end of July. The 2024-2025 school year begins Monday, August 12.
