The Learning by Languages® Innovation Hub is the centre of excellence for research and innovation in the field of education under the Learning by Languages® brand. It is a place for sharing, research, and experimentation. A gathering centre that connects producers, consultants, universities, research and training centres, and specialised publishing companies.

The Learning by Languages® Innovation Hub is located in Italy, in Reggio Emilia, a city that has made education its excellence. It stands at the heart of the headquarters of Coopselios, a non-profit organisation that has been working in the field of education for forty years.

Through a guided journey, you will have the opportunity to discover and experience innovative learning environments and tools, explore topics of pedagogical innovation, and consult specialised publishing. Experience with us the free flow of know-how, innovation, and passion for the world of education. Let yourself be inspired by the Learning by Languages® universe to innovate your professional contexts.

Experience Map

Meeting a place, experimenting with its possibilities, gathering material and immaterial testimonies, fostering relationships, and activating participation are steps that form the foundation of an ecological-type educational perspective. You will be guided by the Learning by Languages® team on an exploratory and experiential group journey that will gradually introduce you to the discovery of the connections and nodes that underpin our Learning by Languages® Innovation Hub, because beauty is not just an external recognition, but must be earned through an inner, cognitive, and exploratory journey.

Further details

During each day, you will have the opportunity to explore 2 topics from those offered by the experiential nodes of the Innovation Hub: choose the ones that inspire you the most.

Atelier Aperto

Atelier Aperto is the space dedicated to the development of expressive languages. Expressive languages contribute to the construction of rich and complex knowledge, supporting the development of creative and divergent thinking, as well as problem-solving skills. They simultaneously engage both hands and mind, along with emotions, thus fostering experiences with multiple forms of communication, materials, and tools. Inside the Atelier, you can experiment with:

- The I-Vulcani learning environment, dedicated to the development of scientific thinking and the introduction to STEAM disciplines, starting from the elements of air, water, fire, and earth.

- The Material World learning environment, a habitable architecture that supports encounters with both constructive and informal materials.

- Coding activities, both unplugged and with tools.

- Graphic and pictorial language, light, and clay.

Wind tunnel

The wind tunnel is an ‘artificial frame’ characterised by different geometries. Real and imaginary wind currents pass through the tunnel in different seasons. Inside the wind tunnel, you can experiment with and explore:

Wind-friendly materials: Which materials can help me see the wind?

Wind geometries: Does wind have a shape? What geometries and forms? Can we draw it?

Unplugged coding: Can we follow the movement of the wind? Can we replicate it?

Feeling the wind: Can we perceive the wind with our senses by listening with our body?

The sound of the wind: Does the wind have a sound? How can we listen to it?

Capturing the wind: Can we trap and capture the wind?

Den tree

A large western plane tree, thanks to its size, shape, and the density of its canopy that reaches down to the ground, creating a sort of vegetal tent, has been named the ‘Den tree,’ a name that evokes an idea of welcome, care, and the pleasure of staying in a context that offers an interesting complexity and biodiversity. Under the Tana Tree, you can experiment with:

Graphic explorations with different materials.

Observing the tree and its forms, lights, and shadows from different perspectives.

Investigations and research on the biodiversity of the natural world.

Observations and studies of the ecosystem beneath the tree.

Living green narratives under the tree.

Observatory

It is the space dedicated to the experimentation of observation. The aim is to perceive the concrete reality with our eyes through a systematic, formative, dynamic, and authentic observation, from the global to the particular. In a society that is increasingly fast-paced and inattentive, today we speak of the importance of the ‘pedagogy of attention,’ the importance of cultivating the art of lingering on things. We must educate and train ourselves to look and develop a contemplative dimension in order to enhance reflective abilities and the capacity to connect to the context in which we live. In this space, you can experiment with:

Observations with different tools and strategies to focus on details.

Collecting significant elements to observe and analyse from a scientific perspective.

Observing the variations in the context based on seasonal and climatic characteristics.

Metaphorical and graphic reinterpretations of the sensations collected during the observation.

The time of waiting: observations with the Digital Bird House, a tool that offers the opportunity to observe birds, study different species, shapes, colours, voices/chirps, and understand the rhythms of nature.

Soundscape area

It is the space where the ‘pedagogy of listening’ to places and their characteristics is cultivated.

Listening with all the senses allows us to attune ourselves to the context and its features: an essential skill to develop in educational settings. It involves training ourselves to grasp the complexity of overlaps and to consider reality as a layering of sounds, images, and different perspectives. In this space, you can experiment with and explore:

Listening to the sounds of animals that inhabit the park, particularly birds.

Listening to the sound of trees through both analogue and digital tools.

Exploring the graphic and narrative dimensions of sounds.

Delving into the habitat of birds, their living environments, and habits.

Listening to the sounds of nature throughout the different times of the year and the seasons.

Big Leaf

Big Leaf is a learning environment that supports constructive language. The Big Leaf is a metaphor that expresses the identity of a place in close relation to nature, but designed to connect the inside with the outside, the natural world with the artificial one, informal materials with formal ones. It is very important to talk about connections in education and to train ourselves to connect in harmony with the brain’s functioning from birth, with the learning processes of children, and with contemporary culture, which forces us to keep different and multiple planes connected. In this space, you can experiment with:

Constructive activities using a variety of natural and artificial materials.

Extraordinary connections between the inside and the outside.

The value of transparency and inhabiting thresholds.

The body language between the inside and the outside.

Narratives between the natural and the artificial.

Food Experience

You will have the opportunity to share lunchtime as an occasion to experience a meal that nourishes not only the body but also the team spirit, becoming a chance for professional networking. The lunch break transforms into a sensory experience, featuring the typical flavours of the region, prepared with expert craftsmanship in a smart format to be enjoyed in the park when the season allows.

Book Shop

Our bookshop offers a wide range of publications, magazines, and specialised tools. The corner dedicated to Junior Editions, a publishing house specialised in early childhood, provides valuable opportunities for professionals to deepen their knowledge on key topics in the world of education. You can get recommendations, including access to the online catalogue, on the tools best suited to your professional growth needs.

Share and inspire

At the end of the day, there will be an important moment to share the emotions and reflections gathered throughout the journey: an opportunity for a collective creation of ‘new possible paths’ to inspire us to continue the innovation journey in our usual contexts.
