W. Hamilton (Ham) Smythe IV has been in the passenger transportation business since 1981 when he joined Yellow Cab Company, whose roots in Memphis date back more than 150 years. Smythe added Checker Cab Company in 1989 and Premier Transportation Services in 2000. Yellow Cab and Checker Cab provide 24/7 taxi service to the local community, and Premier Transportation offers scheduled and chartered bus, mini-bus, van and sedan/SUV service. Together, these companies provide a range of solutions designed to get people to where they need to be, whether it’s one person

to the airport, seven people to a special event or 200 people to a conference. Last fall, Smythe unveiled Memphis’ newest and most unique transportation vehicle, Ride the Roo, which connects Midtown entertainment districts Overton Square and Cooper-Young during weekend nights and special events. Recently, Smythe launched Lough Foyle Management as a firm to oversee his transportation companies and interests including technology and insurance. He will serve as Chairman alongside Tamarin Lindenberg as CEO.
