van Gogh Tribute
Christy Lee Rogers “Beauty and her Sister Truth”
Welcome to Vincent Van Gogh Tribute, a celebration of extraordinary artistic talent from across the globe. This special collection brings together the works of artists who participated in the Van Gogh Award —international competition dedicated to honoring the spirit and legacy of Vincent van Gogh.
With nearly 200 entries from passionate and talented artists worldwide, this prestigious award has become a beacon for those who resonate with Van Gogh’s profound artistic philosophy. Each artist who took part was driven not only by skill but by a deep understanding of Van Gogh’s emotional depth, his daring use of color, and his fearless exploration of form.
The jury, faced with the challenging task of selecting winners from such an impressive and diverse pool, sought creators whose work truly captured Van Gogh’s spirit. Through careful deliberation, the artists chosen to be part of this tribute are those whose creations embody the raw passion, the vivid color palettes, and the visionary style that Van Gogh so uniquely brought to life in his own masterpieces.
This collection is more than an homage; it is a testament to the enduring influence of Van Gogh’s work on contemporary art. These pieces not only reflect the essence of his artistic journey but also inspire new generations of artists to push the boundaries of selfexpression.
We invite you to explore these remarkable works and experience the deep connection they share with Van Gogh’s timeless legacy.

“The work “Same-Lama”, is an informal title that connects the traditional Sami closeness to nature, and the lamas (spiritual teachers) from Tibet - together in one work. Lama - means: La = teacher, and ma = mother. I have created a mixed media work with a photo and a small stone sculpture. The photo is a portrait of someone who has shaved off his hair, - as monks and nuns in Tibet doand the person has a “hair installation”: a crown of grass on his head. A stone stupa with seven layers is placed in front of the photo. Both the Sami people and Tibetans have a closeness to nature and spirituality in common ,
and is a gift to the modern world”. The work was part of the National exhibition HOMMAGE IVER JÅKS / 2008-2010
To pay tribute and remember the well known Sami artist Iver Jåks (1932–2007) for his “small”/miniature works, the Nordnorsk Artists’ Center , Riddo Duottar Museat, Sami artist center, The Savio Museum arranged a national exhibition. The project was supported by the Research Council of Norway, the Polar Year, Fritt Ord Foundation, The Sami Parliament, and the Norwegian Cultural Council. The exhibition ended at the Oslo Art Association and a seminar at the National Gallery in Oslo, Norway.
As an artist my work focuses on the concept of Landscape in its different contexts. And how these are build over time in new Landscape. From here I m representing these Landcape in my works whithin an Abstract Expresionist trend. Whithin the Contemporary Framework. Differents ranges of colours, gesture and form stand out jn my work.
My work has had very good rewiews among gallery owners, curators an the public. My work has been published in ArtistTalkMagazine. And selected in contests an Awards. As I have also had the oportunity to exhibit in numerous galleries.

The execution of my works takes place with digital artistic techniques, that is with the use of software and applications suitable for drawing and painting with a wide range of colors and tools (pencil, felt-tip pens, brushes, ...). The ductility of digital tools allows you to resort to different
creative solutions and to correct endless times the projects based on preparatory sketches in pencil. The different possibilities offered by the chosen technique are used for the purpose of composing images born from sensations, emotions, ideas, surrounding reality, movies.
In the fascinating world of digital art and photography, emerges the remarkable work of Alex Funes Lovis, originally from Mexico born on November 8, 1966, a passionate Plastic Artist whose creativity transcends conventional limits. Through his lens, he captures the very essence of iconic places around the world, transforming images and textures into authentic masterpieces that resonate with the depth of lived experience. The work of
Alex Funes Lovis is characterized by his ability to fuse the rich visual heritage of the places he has visited with sacred geometric elements, vibrant colors and the mystique of numerology. Each creation is a journey in itself, a bridge between the viewer and the destinations they have explored, a connection that goes beyond the physical and penetrates the emotional and spiritual realms.

Lost in a sea of rich saturation of dark and light blue colors, a feminine form gracefully traverses the expanse of the water. Alex Sher’s “Anesthesia” invites us into an abstracted alternate reality, the other side of the mirror. As if we were immersed in an aquatic version of Van Gogh’s “The Starry Night”, Sher’s photography masterfully captures a beautiful magical underwater world where rapidly releasing bubbles mirror the cosmos. Calm in her stride, we are left disoriented does she glide above us or is she trapped below? “Anesthesia” is a part of Alex Sher’s popular series REFLECTIONS - underwater photographs that could be almost mistaken for abstract paintings. In fact REFLECTIONS are straight photographic capturing of the water’s surface from below, with a submerged underwater camera. The photographs freeze natural momentary reflections in water surface the unique kaleidoscopic fragmentations of human body into nearly unrecognizable forms. Viewing the distinctive distortions and bold accents of color on these unrefined natural photographs one
cannot help but draw the connections with masterpieces by Salvador Dali, Van Gogh or Gustav Klimt. Alex Sher is an award-winning American underwater fine art photographer internationally recognized for his distinctive depictions of feminine sensuality. Sher’s underwater photography began to attract extensive interest in 2015. To date, his works have been exhibited in London, Paris, New York, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other major cities including the Louvre Museum in Paris. His first solo show was held in 2016 in Los Angeles by Bruce Lurie Gallery. Since his debut, Sher had seven exclusive exhibitions, participated in numerous group exhibitions and prominent art fairs. Sher’s photographs are published in 58 magazines articles in 13 countries. His first photo book “Mermaids” has been published in 2018. Sher mastered the profession of underwater coaching. Bringing forth his technical and artistic innovations, he generously shares his techniques with his models and aspiring photographers.

“Starting with the cubist aesthetics, the fragmentation of forms became the object of analysis of perception: such a fragmentation and reorganization of forms meant that a
work no longer had to be seen as a window through which the image of the world is seen, rather it is a physical object on which a subjective response to the world is created.”

«Through my work, I have tried to create complete pictorial independence. After years of intense work, I strive to capture in my work my physical, carnal relationship with colors, forms and textures. A constant subject of interest returns to me like an obsession: the human condition and how to define the states of mind and attitudes through colors and simple forms. How to to go deeper and probe into my being and that of others, observing, feeling, filtering through myself to transfer this on to a canvas, paper or other foundation. I continuously filter and refine until I have the pure essence of what I wish to capture, which is to translate the soul in a work of art. I want my work to overflow, and for the viewer to sense that it extends into the infinite. “The human being” - here is the most complex and most passionate subject, a constant
search in the “research of the truth”. For many years, I explored a classical approach to painting and while my current work appears divergent, these classical styles and skills constitute my starting point. I have gradually added other media, in the course of discovering a new world and integrating it into my work as a logical evolution. I have enriched my projects through other artistic fields (theater, writing music, etc), which I use and am inspired by. Each time they breathe another breath into my creation. This thirst of expression, generosity and sharing have always been my reason for living.
In 1993, he discovered a new and unique ink painting technique called nijimi-gaR, which had never been seen before in the 3000-year history of ink painting. It is also listed on Wikipedia. It is a unique ink painting technique that pursues beauty by repeatedly applying multiple layers of ink without losing transparency and making use of the noise of the ink bleeding. The themes of his works are the environment, life, and animal protection. He met the indigenous Ainu people of Japan in his childhood and learned the importance of coexisting with nature. He
creates works that confront environmental issues through the Ainu god, the Blakiston’s fish owl. He also works on animal support activities under the theme of “Save the cats & dogs,” as his beloved cat was a rescue cat. He has also been highly acclaimed internationally, having worked hard for many years to improve the value of historical art and to honor the world’s most outstanding unique abilities and original creativity, and was awarded the prestigious Academy Award/Creativity Oscar by the Costanza Foundation in Italy.

From the first line I ever drew and up to the works living in my fantasy, understanding the relation between ourselves and the world has always been the fixed and unchanging question. As is claimed by modern scientific thought, perceptible material reality is an illusion of human physiology, created in specific areas of the brain with the help of our sensory organs. Moreover, according to Plato, what our senses perceive is but “the imperfect depiction (the appearance) of the original Form (the essence) of a particular object, a particular concept in its archetypal dimension.” This is the illusion I wish to illustrate, extending
its boundaries through memory and through a particular aesthetic approach. I usually work with a sketchbook where I try to capture everything and I literally mean everything it tickles my interest. A landscape , pictures of antique zoology books, old fotos , an image in a movie, in the papers. When I work on a painting, I use parts and particles from this sketchbook to set up my painting .My latest works are going one step further and are based on the aesthetics of vintage posters, where I can tell my story through a number of images.

‘The naked truth’ is an interesting concept. Our toughest moments can be when facing your own truths. These moments can also be transformative. In the process of becoming self-aware, there are moments of rawness, of anger and despair that comes from a depth which feels unfathomable, dark. One which you would rather
not confront. Within these truths there lies a serenity, a wholeness of the self. Within the chakra system blue is associated with the throat area. The voice of your own truth, one for you to acknowledge and own. One that also leads to great enlightenment of and within the self.

“I feel I am useless as an artist when I am happy. Pain is what creates my artwork. The painful experiences people go through as they journey through life in the world around us from childhood to adulthood, which in many ways is full of chaos and hardship, are what sparks and motivate me to possess my objectives to make purposeful artwork that
hopefully generates meaningful and fulfilling empathetic connections to people. As I observe and interpret the world around me combined with creating my artwork, I discover repeatedly that true beauty lies within the darkness and that sometimes nightmares are the birthplace of some of the best ideas for an artist.”

Buddha preached that “By understanding and accepting the impermanence and insubstantiality of this world, we can control our cravings and alleviate suffering.”I am inspired by his philosophy and the Japanese aesthetics of WabiSabi (imperfection) and Mono no A-wa-re (compassionate heart). Through my artwork, I convey that compassion is a meaningful solution to alleviating cravings. I focus on personal desires and suffering, and on people and things that are forced to suffer in order to satisfy the greed of others. Fear and disgust are also causes of suffering. I work to help people let go of negative emotions by finding new
perspectives and turning negative emotions into positive ones. While studying academic art, I also followed my own curiosity and learned craft techniques. They include dressmaking, kimono dyeing, dyeing in general, ceramics, ceramic painting, Japanese embroidery, knitting, weaving, and Urushi-lacquer. In addition to continuously examining the difference between art and craft and the potential of craft as an artistic expression, I would like to pursue innovative art without being bound by preconceived notions.

Atom Hovhanesyan
Atom Hovhanesyan was a self-taught artist that worked and lived in New York. He was born in Armenia on August 19, 1981. In 1997, just as Atom graduated from high school at age 16, his family immigrated to the United States. In 1998, Atom was accepted at St. John’s University where he studied Economics while continuing to work in the restaurant industry where he excelled and quickly moved into key management positions in both the New York and Los Angeles restaurant market. Atom relocated from Los Angeles to New York in 2009 and began painting- the passion of his childhood and youth. From that point his entire life was dedicated to Art. He busied himself with the study of anatomy, perspective, effects of light, color theory, art history, and the works of the Old Masters and
the Modern Masters. As a faithful and respectful learner, then successor of legendary master’s vision, style and performance, loved very much traditional choice of medium and ground his own colors. And after colossal dedication to art, some times, 72 hours nonstop painting or drawing, unintentionally or maybe subconsciously created unique, unrepeatable style and technique in post divisionism and ink drawings, never observed before. He has had Solo and Group Exhibitions in USA, China, Germany, UK, Italy, France, Japan. Atom Hovhanesyan created over 250 pieces of art (some of his artworks belong to private collections in many countries), before losing his battle with depression in May 10, 2018. He was 36 years old.

“Monsoons” represents the challenges; the storms of life. Over the arc of my long career, I’ve been tested and endured many. My purpose now is to create paintings that lift people up; bringing hope, peace and joy to their environment. My unusual technique has been developed and refined over five decades - a spontaneous occurrence, born out of the experience, but maturing reflexively in the process of creation. My technique is controlled improvisation. Gravity is my medium. Images are caught with intent. I worked figuratively for a long time, but did not feel challenged. I wanted to paint from the inside
- my thoughts and my feelings. When I saw the huge, colorful work of Paul Jenkins, it brought me to my knees. Fortunately I was introduced to him in 1979 and when he saw my watercolors he advised me to eliminate subject matter, work large and focus on color, space and time. It took nine years of work to achieve anything acceptable. When, in 1988 Jenkins said, “You’re ready for a show”, that was it. A gallery in Alexandria, Virginia offered me a solo exhibit. It sold out and that was the beginning of a long and exciting career.

My work delves into the abstract realms of emotion, perception and the subconscious mind. Through layers of texture, color and form. I seek to evoke a visceral response in the viewer. Transcending the boundaries of language and rational thought. Each piece is a journey into exploration of the intangible aspects of the human experience. Inviting
the audience to emerse themselves in a world of infinite possibility and interpretation. In embracing the fluidity of abstraction. I strive to create a space for introspection, reflection and discovery where meaning is not prescribed but rather discovered through individual interpretation and connection.

My painting focuses on embracing the uniqueness of individuals with unusual facial pigmentation. As I see it, a fair world is one in which all people-irrespective of race, social class or disability-can have a positive self-concept. Self-concept revolves around the face, by which humans recognise and interact with each other. Vitiligo is a rare autoimmune skin condition that manifests differently in each individual. Having vitiligo myself, I see it first-hand. ‘Breathe’ is a portrait of Ralph Souffrant, originally from Haiti, who has a skin condition similar to vitiligo. He’s a successful model in NYC, working with the liked of Fendi,
Tommy Hilfiger and many more. In his words:“As a child, I hated my freckles. I was teased, stared at by strangers and extremely self-conscious. Now, people embrace them and I love my uniqueness. Thanks to my freckles, I can provide for my family and get my family out of poverty.”I view Ralph as a shining rôle model for people with unique facial features. He is breaking down barriers and, in so doing, is paving the way for others to follow. My aim is to destigmatise vitiligo and to promote those unique individuals for whom it is part of daily life.

Creating works of art is a compelling lifeforce. It encompasses passion, intellect, spontaneity, and self discovery. I am an intuitive painter who uses experimental processes and a saturated palette to create vivid works of organic art. Inspired by nature, I use color to transcend the

“The Tentacles of the River” ( 300x160x160cm, resin ) narrates a story within a story, a reflection on the changing environment. The inclusion of jellyfish in the river of Amsterdam serves as a poignant symbol of the impact of climate change. The human brains sculpted from natural resin with the narrative, signifying our role in this evolving ecosystem. We are not just observers; we are integral parts, witnessing the beauty and shouldering the responsibility for its vulnerability. The human lungs featured in the sculpture reinforce the interconnectedness between humanity and nature. Through this visual metaphor, Caroline emphasizes the symbiotic relationship between
the two, subtly urging us to recognize our dependence on the environment. The inclusion of a tree branch and kite wires further extends the metaphorical landscape, creating a cohesive narrative that reflects the broader story of our existence. Despite addressing pressing issues such as climate change and environmental vulnerability, her art resonates with an optimistic undertone. The breath of life, the cognitive processes of thinking, and the profound emotion of happiness are seamlessly woven into the fabric of her sculptures. It’s a celebration of the complexities of our being, presented through a visually striking and thought-provoking lens.

This artwork is called Persephone created by Celine Chan. If people have the characteristics of Persephone, they are likely to have experienced major drawbacks in their lives. Such experiences force people to face their dark side and make them more resilient to difficulties. Persephone represents the spirit of rebirth from suffering. The characters in the works give people a sad yet steadfast feeling. The author hopes to convey a positive attitude towards life to the suffering women through the images in the painting. Named after Persephone, the Greek goddess associated with the underworld and rebirth, this artwork likely explores themes of transformation and resilience.
The intense gaze of the woman suggests strength and determination. The swirling gold lines may represent the light and life that Persephone brings with her return to the earth each spring, symbolizing hope and renewal. This interpretation aligns with Celine’s artistic vision of expressing the psychological side of human beings and their attitudes toward facing problems. Celine’s intention to express the psychological side of human beings is evident in “Persephone.” The woman’s face conveys a complex mix of emotions, inviting viewers to contemplate her inner thoughts and feelings.

I chose this painting to represent love, anxiety, hope and suffering. Of course it is inspired by Leonardo but I also feel a strong connection with Vincent - his bold search for truth and meaning, his direct and unafraid expression with colour and the way he created a sense of space and connection between his subjects, backgrounds and landscapes. These qualities are of immense importance
in our present world where nothing appears to be stable anymore, where human values seem to be shifting and mankind is approaching an uncertain era in time. I´m sure that facing the truth, searching for love and feeling the connection of hope is always a good compass in difficult times.

“The Wandering Artist” is a tribute to the relentless journey of creativity, reflecting the endless pursuit of artistic expression and the tools of our trade. Inspired by the life and works of Van Gogh and the spirit of artists who follow in his footsteps, this sculpture captures the essence of the paths artists traverse, the landscapes they explore, and the countless hours spent honing their craft. Each element within the piece symbolizes a facet of this journey: the raw materials representing potential, the well-worn tools
denoting practice and perseverance, and the mirroring of the ever-evolving nature of artistic creation. The sculpture pays homage to the passion that drives us, the obstacles we overcome, and the milestones we celebrate. Through “The Wandering Artist,” I invite viewers to reflect on their creative paths and the tools that guide them, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the creativity inherent in all our lives.

My painting and drawing invites you to experience with me that moment in time. I use vivid colors to excite the senses and sooth the soul. I recreate that moment when you see
birds, trees, rivers, or lakes. That moment when sunrise or sunset is most vivid. I invite you to join me and enjoy that moment in time.

Art accompanies on difficult times as on better times, it’s like a lifeline through all these years since childhood through maturity and now. My motivation to do art comes from the longing for the silence that is found in this process of creation, hope is there. It is a magnet for me, searching what is there in the artworks. These artworks arise from one another when the approach is associative. The artworks are in a figurative space but do not try nor
pretend to give an accurate testimony of the landscape. Landscapes paintings can be from the same place but are totaly different. Two masters from Israeli artists who influenced me were Uri Reisman and Anna Ticho. The starting points are my drawings whether it’s a pencil or charcoal. The main part of my work is in oil on canvas or on prepared paper sheets.

I painted this picture dedicating it to the event 170 years since the birth of Wangog. The picture has a voiceover in the form of a song indicated in the title. I mix different types of creativity and here I decided to mix paintings, Picaso as he was inspired by the artist Gauguin as well as Van Gogh, and pictures Van Gogh. I decided to depict the story of the severed ear in the painting, which is talked about by everyone who has ever heard of Van Gogh, and after personally researching it, I decided that Van Gogh was in love with Gauguin, I don’t think it was male love, but that it was a kind of fanaticism for a creative personality on the verge, that’s for sure. So here we see two works of sunflowers with which he hung Gauguin’s bedroom when he came to live with him, we see Van Gogh self-portrait with
a severed ear, but only here, since this is suprematism, I used the image of a famous instagrammed cat who has already appeared in my painting 44 cats,@loveyoustefan he always suffers from love or from something...in this case, he perfectly conveys the mood of Van Gogh in the form of a cat. And in the foreground we see the very ear that everyone is talking about, but in fact he only cut off the lobe of the ear.All this is written in the exact composition of Picaso the lover of absinthe, that favorite subject and drink of the artists of that time.Van Gogh was in love with Gauguin as an outstanding creative personality.I also love Gauguin’s paintings. 2023-2024 year size 70-90sm oil canvas.

“Dark thoughts” is part of an ongoing project I am developing on the theme of water. It is an allegory about the importance of water in our lives and a desperate cry for us to take greater care of the planet’s water sources. Through this series I try to create an emotional connection between the viewer and water, a natural element we are deeply and inextricably connected to and cannot live without. My intent is to uncover the deeper facets of water, reveal the stories and creatures within this fluid element and highlight
its beauty through art. I feel that there is something divine and poetic living in the water, that we must protect. “Dark thoughts” reveals my environmental agony. The photos of the series were all captured in camera, using the effects created by the movement of the water, the reflections on the surface in combination with the elements inside the shallow river. The imaginary water spirits that are created through my camera are in fact the reflections of my own emotions.

Look at Me!
Francesco Ruspoli
instagram.com/francesco.ruspoli
Francesco Ruspoli’s work is an exploration of relational space and its changing possibilities within contemporary society. His work explores the dynamic frontier between abstraction and figuration. This fertile area keeps alive the infinite possibilities of being human in an age intent upon limiting them. There is a defiant romanticism that insists that emotions are precious, meaning is creative and that there is a world beyond commodities. Using a strikingly vibrant palette, each painting enacts a symphonic dance of colour where subtle gradation and dramatic contrast express nuances of emotion and sensuous physicality. Timely reminder of our embodied life with its hopes and dreams, pain and the poignancy of yearning. The eternal human dance of reaching out and holding back is thus movingly enacted. The work expresses the direct sensation of lived experience through organic shapes and forms woven from flowing lines and the gaze of the viewer. You are invited to participate in a creative encounter with these elements, constructing your own visual languages, responses and meanings. From this aesthetic encounter, urgent questions will arise about the quality of engagement
between humans and their many environments. It is hoped there also follows an increased sense of wonder at your own capacity for re-interpretation and invention that will uplift both you and the world in which you live: this is the very essence of hope. The relational concern of his work is intended to embrace all viewers, so their interpretations are equally valid as his. The act of viewing is to enter a relationship, a mutual encounter of the painting and the viewer. This is why the figures in his work are placed so viscerally in relation to each other, and why this stimulates a reflection on relatedness which encompasses the viewer. A vital part of interpretation is our emotional response, which incidentally is not solely the preserve of a ‘refined’ academic elite. The experience of being with others is the essence of his work, so he hopes his work is able to share that precise experience with the viewer. You could say his message, theme and vision is to co-create an experience of emotional connection, whatever it happens to be on that precise moment of that particular day, with you, here, in this space together.

tells a story that provoke thought and range of emotions, breaking down perceptions of what constitutes art.
Art is like a fire in the soul - i can subscribe to this quote by van gogh 100% - it is what drives me. the inner restlessness that makes me feel connected as soon as something of the expression of what we call soul is present in the work of art and cannot be precisely put into words, but can be felt as soon as it is there. Creation as a whole and our reckless treatment of it are my driving themes - giving things their soul - it’s my fire.

Seeing a pink Barbie-alike female beauty and the automatically associated assumption of: “Outside beauty equals inner beauty” is just an illusion. The sculpture was built on smashed beer cans, locally produced in Switzerland and stands for the strong contrast of a fairy-tale beautiful Swiss mountainious landscape and unexpected mental disorders of people living there. More and more alcohol
related abuses also apply to females, not just males, as it was in the past, anymore. A drunk man on the street was always considered as normal, but a drunk woman on a daily basis is either a threat or has to be avoided by any means. This sculpture stands symbolically to integrate them back into society and is also an attempt to bring out their inner beauty again.

Inspired by the triune nature of existence, the artist explores different facets of womanhood. Each figure might symbolize stages like the

FLUIDISM is the most important moment in my artistic career. It is the essence of what I am. It is all about fluidity. Everything flows. Fluidity belongs to the human being, is in our biological composition and in the composition of our society in which we all are immersed. It is about a strong communication system with its own language and infinite ways of expression. It is about a reality that finds and elaborates its nature in the liquid state of things. We are immersed in it and we are carried away by the flow of eternal becoming. ARTISTIC STATEMENT FLUIDISM is a concept through which I express my artistic creed in works of art, inspired by the existence of a complex substance
of outstanding properties and qualities – WATER. WATER is a unique and indestructible substance. WATER is the basis of life, growth and change. WATER has the ability to regenerate continually. WATER soothes and heals. WATER shows understanding and sensitivity. WATER is an accomplished artist. WATER is the most important element on the planet, can be found in 70% of our earth and in the same proportion in the bodies of humans, animals and plants – sometimes even in a larger quantity. I have chosen to use the seven colors of the rainbow and the shades obtained by combining them in all of my artworks.

While listening to music, images and colors flow through my mind and body. This has gone on for as long as I can remember and I figured this is how life is for everyone so it never occurred to talk about it or question if others experienced this. Recently, I was asked by my children why I didn’t allow music to be played at certain times while driving. That was the first time I had to think about, verbalize what I was experiencing and realized that not everyone experiences this. Once I started explaining, I have had a more complete understanding of my artwork
as well as my mission as an artist. Looking at the artwork I have created as far back as elementary school, it has pertained to movement, music, color, light, capturing what I was experiencing. The colors I see range from opaque bold color to transparent light which most likely explains why I am drawn to both oil painting and glasswork. My soul is nourished through listening to many different kinds of music and experiencing these images and colors. My mission through my art is to Nourish Your Soul Through a Symphony of Light and Colour!
Anxiety, Oil on canvas, 48 in x 48 in
My art is a journey through color and emotion. Each stroke of the brush or mixed media on the canvas is a piece of my heart, a reflection of the world as I see it. I aim to capture the fleeting moments of beauty and mystery that often go unnoticed in our busy lives. Through my artworks, I hope to inspire others to pause, take a break, and find joy in the simple wonders surrounding us. My art is an exploration of
the unique multicolored spirit. It’s a way for me to express the complex and ever-changing emotions that define our imagination. Whether it’s the joy of discovery or the depths of introspection, I strive to create pieces that resonate with the shared experiences of colors. I hope that my art can serve as a magic mirror, reflecting the emotions and stories that connect us all.

DNA human, is an affirming piece. It was designed in love for friends in my church choir. This painting was an effort to help bring acceptance to gay persons. The original acrylic painting has been donated to the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Centre and Washington DC., 2020. I believe that our loving God watches over all persons. He and She grants me the power to create and gives me the ideas that I paint. I stand up for human rights. DNA human is about love. It’s not about sex. I believe that more studies need to be done to support DNA research and the ‘Gay’ connection. As a pansexual, I believe that it’s in our genes. Does that mean I need to act on those
desires? On a personal note, not unlike in the 1970s when endometriosis (a woman’s disease), was virtually unknown and underfunded. I suffered for 22 years from the age of 17 with this painful disease. The endo lining tissue was told by my hormones, that I was not pregnant every month. Next, my bowel would release the lining it thought to be in my uterus and I menstruated through my bowel. Surgery at 40, finally relieved this agony. Then, I had a complete breakdown. Well, practically not eating the whole summer of 2000, may have had a factor in it. So now, I stand as an Artist. Waiting to be discovered, loved and appreciated.

I am a self-taught and emerging acrylic painter based out of Florida, USA. Art has always been a part of my life since childhood. I draw inspiration from my global travel and life experiences. I create abstract and landscape paintings that reflect my passion for art, which I rekindled after following a conventional career path. I use colorful brush strokes and textures to create images that astound and inspire my viewers. In the kaleidoscope of life, the carnival emerges—a vibrant celebration of color, movement, and hidden stories. My canvas becomes the midway, where laughter intertwines with melancholy, and the carousel
spins tales of forgotten dreams. ‘Carnival’ invites you to step beyond the velvet ropes, to taste cotton candy sunsets and dance with the echoes of forgotten melodies. Each stroke is a ticket to wonder, and every brush whispers secrets of the heart. Carnival” is an invitation to embrace the unpredictable joy of existence. It encourages us to twirl, laugh, and lose ourselves in the whirlwind of colors. Whether viewed from a bustling street corner or a quiet gallery, this painting ignites our own inner carnival—a celebration of life, love, and the sheer thrill of being alive.

I have created a Van Gogh inspired dress in the theme of hope. I chose hope because I wanted to show that even in dark times you should always have a bit of hope. The materials I used for the dress were Touch Markers and fineline pens. I chose the color yellow for the corset and blue for the skirt of the dress to try and create an effect of “Starry Night”. The skirt acts as a curtain to reveal a small part of light blue and a Starry Night pattern on top. For the
background of the dress, I painted Starry Night in black and white using acrylics. I then ripped it up and used it as a collage for the background. The reason I chose black and white was to highlight the theme of hope. Since the background is dark the bright colors of the dress stand out more. In the corner of the canvas, I drew a graffiti style sign of the word hope. I used graffiti because it brings the piece into the modern world and connects it to teenagers.

I am a visionary artist and ecopsychology educator. My acrylic paintings and mixed media artworks explore intuitive, embodied sacred art journeys to the ecological self: the self that recognizes its inherent interconnectedness with the more than human world. My art has been achieved from decades of self-directed experiential learning, celebrating earth, the rising feminine spirit and invoking wholeness, joy and aliveness. I do not set out to paint a particular image. Rather, I create a prayer on the canvas and intuitively follow the flow of paint to see what emerges. This method of intuitive process painting requires trust to
bypass the inner critic allowing for deeper messages from soul to emerge on the canvas visually. It is a spiritual, healing and satisfying contemplative experience that has brought me many unexpected surprises over the past few years. Each painting represents a sacred inner journey, sometimes inspired by outer journeys to places that have touched and changed me, such as Kauai and Jamaica where I was born and raised. I believe this type of intuitive process painting is one method of restoring wholeness and opening and deepening connection to Earth. I affirm my belief that nature plus art, equals joy and resilience.

I am an art photographer based in Japan. I am very happy and honored to be able to participate in this special publishing project as a photographer. Paintings that can create the unreal on a canvas with free ideas are very attractive to me. In contrast, landscape photography is limited in terms of composition and the placement of free information. However, the joy of finding the best spot, guided by the landscape that unfolds before my eyes, is a charm that only photography can offer. The work I chose
for this tribute project is a photograph of the evening scene from the historic Japanese garden called “Tokugawaen” in Nagoya, Japan, which dates back to 1695. If I were to apply this work, which I photographed in 2018, to Van Gogh’s many masterpieces, I feel that it is close to the worldview of “Starry Night”, and I would be happy if it could be one of the good works that add color to the “Van Gogh Tribute Art Prize & Book” that will be published this time.

Kevin has stretched his creativity with artwork storytelling and fiction writing. “Figuratives” is an example, in which the art processes are revealed and twisted into a fictionalized plot. In this excerpt, Adam, the artwork buyer is on cellphone with K’C the artist: K’C explained. “Adam and Eve are in my nightscapes. There’s also a rascal I call North Shorty – the nightwalkers. My homage to Eddy Hopper’s “Night Hawks” – and homage to you Adam.” Adam was flabbergasted; defensive. “I saw those paintings. That’s not me. I don’t own a grey fedora and a trench...” K’C disrupted in mid-flight. “Adam, how did you
think I painted those nightscapes? It was wet, rainy. Did you think I set up my easel and painted in the rain?” Adam was tongue-tied. Silence burned. “I took photographs. And guess who kept showing up in my photographs? Adam the night hawk. And Eve? It was always Eve in my paintings. But in my photographs?” Adam gripped his phone. His fingers throbbed. “Eve in “Schwartz Nacht”? Remember Elizabeth Cooper? You were married even then, when you had that dalliance. She was painted as Eve. But in the photographs?”

In my work, I delicately observe the suppressed desires and anxieties that modern people experience in social relationships, and meditatively express them at the point where consciousness and unconsciousness meet. In modern society, the expansion of capitalism amplifies human desires. This often leads to social violence. Representative examples include the hierarchical
structure by power, domestic violence, and war. This social violence suppresses the human mind and causes anxiety, fear, and horror. My paintings go beyond the dichotomous opposition of past and present, East and West, reality and myth, anxiety and hope, and tell the story that everything is interconnected through causal relationships.
The portrait of Katerina in a Post-Impressionism style is part of a series called “Sisterly Impressions”. To create this portrait, I have done thorough research and applied the colors and techniques that were originally used by Van Gogh. Within the project “Sisterly Impressions” I explore various painting styles while capturing the essence of my sister. Anchored by a single reference, every artwork undergoes a metamorphosis through diverse application
of colors, brushstrokes, and techniques. I sought guidance from masters like Sandro Botticelli, Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Alphonse Mucha, and Gustav Klimt, each influencing a specific style within this series. Through this series, I want to show how powerful creativity can be. The viewers will see how one idea can be expressed in so many different ways. How many stories can one subject tell, depending on the eye that beholds it?

My art explores time’s passage and emotion, delving into the ways in which these two forces intertwine and influence one another. By capturing these instances in time, I can then transform them to fit my private world. In the quiet spaces of my art, there’s a lingering embrace
of life, a gentle resistance against its inevitable flow, as I strive to hold onto each moment a bit longer. Through my creations, I aim to evoke contemplation on the transient nature of existence while inviting viewers to explore the depth of their inner emotional world.

I am an artist who mainly uses oil paint on canvas. My background comes from three areas- of art study. Working with design, And also the study of Jewish philosophy. My works aim to arouse curiosity and interest in ancient Jewish wisdom and in the stories that shape Israel’s nation thought. And how all this affects our lives today, in a world that is searching for meaning and direction. Mainly in view of the burning conflicts in the Middle East, my art is looking for the wisdom that will provide an answer, and that will
direct us to the spiritual root that stands behind these conflicts. In my paintings I mainly bring topics that have great meaning and foundations within the experience of the soul of the Jewish people. Topics that touch pain, hope and values that the Jewish nation aspires to radiate to all of humanity. And I want to share with the world a hidden meaning that is revealed in my paintings from the deeper observation of them.

My art style is mixed media as I love to use many different materials and have a love of extreme textures and techniques. I love art that can be felt physically as well as emotionally. I love the colour gold and it is normally found in my paintings.
My main inspiration is spirituality, I feel that living from the heart and art go hand in hand. I find painting can be a meditation and can help in times of stress. I hope my paintings bring joy and awareness. Van Gogh was the first artist that stirred emotion in me, and he was my earliest inspiration.

During summer here in Ibiza, many glorious days float around the mid 30° temperatures. Like scattered jewels, women on the beach & in hidden coves stand out as beautiful flowers, each with their own expression, minds full of thoughts & stories, history & future... Hot days driving to the studio, enjoying the process and keeping cool. On this quiet afternoon I sat down to chat for awhile before setting up my fresh canvas & mounting it on the
wall in readiness. Deep blue sky tones, strong sun & the multitude of colours & sights of recent hot weeks filled my mind. A few musicians drifted in as the afternoon heat calmed & the sound of instruments built a new ambience into the night, I consumed myself with the work I was creating, enjoying every brush stroke to express the vibrance & feeling, darting back and forth between colours as the hours passed & the piece came to life....

Equality is often mistaken for conformity, for similarity, and becomes the passive and painless mode of social behavior. By paraphrasing this itinerary, we intend to propose a reflection inherent to some dogmas and concepts of our community which sometimes tend to become inappropriate cultural references and models. Therefore, to avoid a sort of conformism, which has always been the worst poison for social thought, attention is paid to the concept
of not homogenising too much some aspects of daily life (almost a sort of metallurgy of thought...) but vice versa personalizing and validating the choices as well as the capabilities of the individual because these appear to be the only antidote to a community that does not reflect as it should and often does not satisfy its ethical and social references.et.

My journey into fine art began with the discovery of digital art. I was inspired to focus on flowers as a subject due to their delicate nature and emotional resonance. Through my work, I strive to convey emotional and spiritual narratives by transforming flowers into characters. I often integrate

Through painting and song writing, I am “mind traveling” to various known and unknown places, “meeting” different people and mentalities, all of them with similar emotions. I`m always trying to express certain emotions in my artworks. Therefore, in my figurative art, you can notice mostly women acts, their natural beauty and perfection of the woman`s body as the unique space of a growing new life and giving birth, occupied with different thoughts, whether melancholic, happy or amorous... some of them connected with certain musical instruments. More of the paintings are abstractions, motivated by specific thoughts of how I see the cosmic space connected with some life
and divine events... imaginary landscapes, as well as different entities living all together in a beautiful harmony. There are different styles of my artworks, depending on my inspiration during different periods of my life. The techniques are mostly acrylic on canvas, aquarelle with ink in different colours and dry pastels, frequently choosing warm, light and pastel colours. Following the new technology, in last few years I create a digital art from scratch, using various digital programs, so the original files can be printed on any desired medium, canvas, plexiglass, textile, wood and etc.,

I often paint from a philosophical and phenomenological point of view, looking at how we interact with each other as humans. I am fascinated by how our inner landscape of emotions relates to the outer world, and the landscapes we live in. This artwork gathers many emotions throughout my life and many people can recognize the feelings from pure love to great sadness. The girl protects herself in her loneliness and melancholic mood, shifting from pain and a desire to be loved by a father figure. All she needs is love. Still - the overlapping transparency of the two figures
invites to a beautiful story of a strong connection. I have used a variety of techniques in the coloring, the web of lines and cells to convey their relationship, and the viewer to interpret their interaction and what it means to them. It was a challenge to create the title as there are so many emotions involved here, but I ended up tracing back to my first instinct and feeling when I started painting, (always happy and creative in my solitude when painting) – the loneliness of the girl, my own so to speak...

“What seems ugly to us usually has its very own, often deeper and soul-touching aesthetics.” In recent years, the industrial and port areas of the Ruhrregion have cast a spell over me. Born and raised in Duisburg, they have influenced me since childhood and challenged my aesthetic sensibilities. Today I see these scenes with a different eye. I look for nooks and crannies that generally go unnoticedbut which are interesting or bizarre or present themselves
in strange shapes and compositions. Detached from their surroundings, completely new impressions of an “industrial aesthetic” emerge in the focus of the painterly realization. Each motif tells its own little story in its own visual language. Stories of hard work, of manual and mechanical production processes, of being invented, forgotten and rediscovered. They are testimonies to the creative power of mankind.
Marta Carceller
Marta Carceller’s painting acquires its own sign of singularity in the dialectical figuration/abstraction. On one hand, the artist approaches the shapes of the Spanish realism that emerged during the 1980s through a broad thematic register that covers the human figure, still lifes and both urban and natural landscapes. On the other hand, this entire figurative structure is stressed through the exploration of abstraction’s own resources. This dialectical condition of Carceller’s work translates into a split of the pictorial work on two planes: the representational or constructive, and the expressive or deconstructive. Indeed, when Carceller Massana’s works are observed, the spectator faces a double treatment of the pictorial surface. Constructive work immerses the gaze in a three-dimensional universe, regulated by the idea and the realistic effect - the figures acquire body, the cutlery inscribes its silent physicality in space, the streets of the city weave their way through a perfect perspective. Said in other terms, the pictorial surface acquires depth to include a world of volumes. However, while the viewer’s
gaze is seduced by the illusionist universe of the plausible, Carceller “closes” the pictorial surface to emphasize that it is flat and impenetrable. Is in this work dimension where the constructive effort leaves space to expressive counterweight and, consequently, the language of abstraction is convened to undermine the hegemony of the figurative. There are two ways in which Carceller Massana deconstructs and places a parenthesis in the illusionism of figuration: through the plastic vocabulary and visual gestural abstraction; and through strategies close to geometric abstraction. In the first case, the author uses dripping and stains to juxtapose an abstract plot that “messes” the transparency of the representing scene. In the second, geometric shapes are used to suggest a process of decomposition of the figure, which has been captured by the artist. The dialectic figuration/abstraction reaches, in this case, its maximum degree of tension, given into account of the abrupt heterogeneity of the pictorial elements put to coexist.

“Mercedes Grassi King is an innovative artist, as she places herself both in front of and behind the lens, becoming at the same time a passive and active individual of the whole creative process. This choice recalls the determined will to embrace and show one’s essence, one’s existence characterized by chaos and order, by deep sensations and hidden thoughts. What is created are shots, artworks with a strong dark flavor, which bring to mind the immense and dark dream world. Courage and audacity come
together to show the depths of one’s abyss, full of tales and melancholy; an abyss left in darkness for a long time but which now, more than ever, feels the need to go out and shout to the whole world. The art of Mercedes Grassi King is a succession of changes of perspectives, which entice the viewer first to understand the profound soul of the artist, and then to lead a profound inner reflection on what is shown and on what, instead, often is left aside.”

Submitting my work for the Van Gogh Tribute Award has been an honor and a significant personal milestone. This opportunity has allowed me to freely engage with themes that resonate deeply within my artistic journey. Like many, I have always regarded Van Gogh as a master of unparalleled skill and expression. Initially, the task of aligning my work with his legacy felt overwhelming. However, as I immersed myself in his world, I discovered a profound connection to his relentless pursuit of beauty,
joy, and artistic introspection—qualities that permeate much of his work and inspire me as an artist. Furthermore, Van Gogh’s empathy for the less privileged is a sentiment I share deeply. His ability to make art that speaks not only to the elite but also to the common person is something I strive to embody in my practice. It is this aspect of his work that makes Van Gogh’s art so enduring and powerful, and it is a vision I hope to contribute to through my own creations.

Michelle’s art reflects her love of the Australian landscape, especially wildflowers, water systems and desertscapes. Many of the characteristics of the Australian landscape are reflected in the traits of women: resilient, enduring, strong, kind, ruthless, merciful, passionate, blossoming, and embracing. The relationship between person and nature, as most reflected in the female form and the spiritual practice of being in nature grounded in ‘presence’ are essential to
her art practice. The search for that which brings peace in ‘being female’ and respected is a deep motivation. Her artwork markings, shapes and colour illustrating a strong connection with what nurtures a positive relationship with ourselves and the world as it is, using colour to enhance optimism and a sense of security, as well as hints at an endearing sense of humour and frivolity in an era of deep instability.

Gravitational Perceptions is a work created in the artist’s seaside atelier during September 2024. The oil-oncanvas painting is inspired by Van Gogh’s character by emphasizing, through color and spatial composition, the artist’s tribulations in the act of putting her inner anxieties on canvas. Thus the painter portrays herself as waiting, in an unlimited and suspended time, the artistic time in which everything seems possible by relieving for a moment the anguish of human existence.

I never met Van Gogh as a person. I only encountered him through his works and information. In 1990, I saw the Mingei Theatre Company’s production of “A Little Tale of Van Gogh: The Man of Fire” in Osaka, Japan. The program included a piece by Mr. Makoto Fujimura entitled “Van Gogh: The Rhythm of East and West,” which read, “Like burning a candle at both ends, Van Gogh burned his body and mind,” and “died at the age of 37.” I am trying to live twice as long as he did. In my hand, I hold a pin badge of a
chair from the Art Pins Collection “Van Gogh” (1853-1890) at the Musée d’Orsay. This chair was painted as a pair in the bedroom of the so-called “Yellow House,” where he lived and dreamed of turning it into a community of artists. The yellow chair. He is nowhere to be seen. But did his life’s dream burn out at the age of 37? Perhaps his dream is still burning. His dream, invisible to anyone, The dream of life. It’s sure still burning.

As an artist, I am fascinated by the blank canvas. The purity and potential of a white canvas is both exciting and intimidating. I use bold, vibrant colours and expressive brushstrokes to create works that are both visually striking and emotionally evocative. My paintings are a reflection of my innermost thoughts and feelings, and I strive to capture the essence of the human experience in each piece. I am particularly drawn to the beauty of nature, and my works often feature landscapes and seascapes that are both serene and powerful. Through my art, I aim to challenge
traditional notions of beauty and perfection. I believe that imperfection is what makes us human, and I celebrate the raw, authentic aspects of life in my paintings. My works are a visual representation of the emotions and experiences that we all share, and I hope that they resonate with viewers on a deep level. In my Art, I invite you to join me on a journey of self-discovery and exploration. Charlie O’Neal (my special grandson) provided the inspiration for the portrait I call “Charlie”. Most interestingly, for almost two years (off and on) Charlie modeled for drawings twice a week. It took immense courage for him, he sat with no expectations of me- only of himself. Never did he ask to see the drawings or even the painting -when finished. The experience of drawing him gave me a unique insight into his “BEING”. He worked hard to give of “HIMSELF”. However, Charlie appeared to be relieved when the sessions were over. Yet, pleased if he sensed I
was satisfied with his work. In the end, I decided to make a painting-summing up the experience that was deeply important to me. Having the benefit of photos taken after each sitting, I chose one that seemed his unique “Self”, an introspective part of his nature (interpreted by me). The panel (96.5cm x 61cm) prepared for the painting took a great deal of attention of purpose and added meaning to the painting. A technique use which I have developed over the years.

In most of my paintings color is strong and dominant, while line and composition – though not neglected – are secondary. In addition to canvas, I often paint on old books, bibles, art books, monetarynotes, accountbooks, comics, etc. I’m intrigued by text, print and painting relations. Perhaps because I was a bookworm as a child, I enjoy erasing words with paint. A kind of renewed self-definition. Being a 20th century product, realism, modernism, and abstract are my points of reference, and the periods that influenced and shaped me. I create from an internal place, but the traditions of art and their history are familiar to me and presence clearly in my background. I believe that art cannot be created in a vacuum. At first, my paintings were figurative. The bible and mythology were the subjects
that interested me the most. Furthermore, I drew from observation. In the past few years, I’ve become more absorbed in the abstract. Basic forms intrigue me, I keep reverting to them obsessively and never quench. The free play and the relations between shapes and colors are what I relish. I enjoy creating series. They release me from the need to decide What to draw and let me concentrate and work solely on the How. I go back again and again to a certain form or composition and explore it thoroughly. When I work, I’m surprised by the gap between intention and outcome, the produce of the matter’s will, objection and point of view. In those moments, when the action streams off effortlessly, I feel myself become a mere instrument; I’m only a tube, or an insignificant mediator. These are rare moments of exaltation.

I have studied and enjoyed the work of Vincent Van Gogh for many years. His use of colour and in particular his very interesting and unique brush strokes which make his work stand out from other artists. Having studied a number of
his self portraits and a few old photographs I thought I would paint a tribute to him by painting his portrait in simple plain brush strokes, completely the opposite of his style !

From New York, now living in the West of Ireland, I paint and draw in neo-expressionist and art brut styles with mixed media including oil, acrylic, oil stick, pastels, charcoal and pencil. I believe my work yields a spontaneous truth, with eviscerated emotional energy, not to be mitigated by hesitation. With figurative comment on social issues, I subscribe to a raw sense of urgency I feel parallels the excitement of life and all its accompanying vicissitudes. Only with the viewer’s perception, does an artwork achieve transcendence, and completion.

“… Yet his paintings are relentlessly modern, more modern than many of the fashions of recent years. His pictures show the beauty of the upside-down world, torn apart. Between the New Objectivity and Photorealism, they show the end of kitsch, the transformation of landscape into agriculture. Reality as art. It is a painting of radical detail full of technical subtleties. In contrast to the content I emphasized in his pictures, it is above all highly skilled painting. His gaze magnifies wounds to the
point of recognizability, as if under a microscope. For him, landscape painting is no longer the genre of utopia, the dream of the Garden of Eden. As historically conscious, historically advanced painting, it no longer has anything to do with the world and the painting of Vermeer and Breughel, which originated only kilometers away and yet lies light years away. It shows the ugliness and perversion of our treatment of nature as the norm, and it shows this ugliness in attractive beauty.” Jan Thorn-Prikker

“An engagement leads work with materials when the tactile texture falls back into the very matter from which it’s made - it then comes into vision as something suggested. The physicality of oil paint and the archaeology of layers; plus the application and movement across the surface inseparable
from the content, Clossick presents a rigorous enquiry informed by his own experience. His work reverberates with notions of freedom, selfhood, representation and aspects of the human condition connected to our divergent identities and experiences.”

“There is at the back of every artist’s mind something like a pattern and a type of architecture… It is a thing like the landscape of his dreams; the sort of world he would like to make or in which he would like to wander, the strange flora and fauna, his own secret planet…” - G. K. Chesterton Petra has been painting since 2019, mainly using oil paints. Rather than painting realistic objects, Petra likes to focus on what is outside our “real” visible world, what is not obvious
at a first glance. She perceives the frame of the painting as a “door” into a parallel world - another dimension - and it fascinates her to gradually uncover this new space by applying colors and adding or revealing hidden symbolics and meanings. If they evoke emotions within a viewer and force him/her to “look with his/her heart”, then they have fulfilled their purpose.

My paintings are an exploration in colour, composition and textures. They balance freedom and risk with compositional intent and have been happy new spaces for ideas to flow and find their way from thought into physical space. I hope
you feel a similar sense of tranquility, calm, wonder and possibility while being with these paintings. Taking you into a meditative state of tranquil peace.

My artworks are meditative reflections on the simplicity and beauty of life. They aim to create a grounding experience, emanating calm, peace, and serenity. These pieces invite viewers to momentarily step away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, offering a quiet space for reflection and resonance—a chance for the eyes to rest and the soul to linger. This collection, titled “Balanced Vibrations”
is a series of paintings that I worked on. It captures the delicate relationship between form and energy, depicting moments of perfect harmony where contrasting forces find equilibrium. Each piece radiates a sense of calm and stability, inviting the observer to experience the subtle rhythm of sustainable balance in a world of constant motion.

“Alexandria of Versailles” draws viewers into a surreal realm where the natural world melds with vibrant hues. A nude woman, adorned with green leaves, stands at its center, holding a slender branch in her right hand and gracefully concealing her lower abdomen with her left. This juxtaposition of vulnerability and strength is set in an impeccably designed garden with symmetrical pathways and manicured foliage. Above, a mystical green-blue sky with luminescent stars and a low-hovering moon casts an ethereal glow, enshrouding the garden in an otherworldly light. This celestial expanse pulsates with serenity and
harmony, inviting the viewer to lose themselves in its embrace. “Alexandria of Versailles” offers not just a visual experience but a journey into a transcendent world. Photography is my voice, a medium to express feelings beyond words. Through my lens, I capture moments uniquely beautiful and bring them to life in the darkroom. My art begins with all my senses absorbing the world’s beauty. In the digital darkroom, I refine the image to unveil my spiritual vision. My objective is to showcase a vision of beauty, fantasy, sensuality, and eroticism—this is my voice.

The materials that I used to draw the dress were Touch markers and fine line pens. These are one of my favorite markers because they have many colors that you can choose from, and they blend in with other colors very well. I decided to put the dress on a background of a forest in autumn. At first, the dress does not stand out, but the eye is then drawn to the details and colours. On the dress you can see many butterflies which represent my love for nature
and animals. I chose the colors yellow, red and orange for the butterflies because you see these colors in nature very often and because these colors also represent love. You can also see that the butterflies gradually increase in size as you move down the dress and lead to the main butterfly at the bottom of the dress. On the right side of the dress, I added a graffiti style word to connect the piece with another form of vivid art that is used to express feelings.

From January6-February 26, 2024, there was a retrospective exhibition of my work at the Takashimaya archives Museum in Osaka. There were a lot of media and visitors, and I was nervous and had gastroenteritis, but it was a very fulfilling day. For me, painting is like drinking water when I’m thirsty. I feel that painting is the only thing that makes me alive. This work was created when I was
struck by the fact that I found a blooming Asiatic dayflower in the gutter. At first, I drew it realistically, but as I repeated the number of sheets, I ended up with a thickly painted picture that weighed about 20 kg. By the way, Van Gogh is my favorite painter at the top. Lastly, I am very happy that people from overseas can see my work through books.

All my life, I created art full of emotions and feelings; I love to play with the composition of colours and objects. In the last three decades, I have been creating wall-mounted, cast resin and aluminum sculptures combined with canvas and gold leaf and exploring the computer as an art tool for creating digital artwork and chemicals for oxidizing to
create art. The last two decades are aimed at the struggle of emotions and adaptions. I have been getting deeper into the Surreal-abstract style for the past ten years. The main motto of my artwork is; Just as in a written story, the readers have space to create their image; in a visual image, the viewers can form their interpretation.

I consider myself a beginning artist with a beginner’s mind. Most of the time I don’t know exactly what I’m doing except for the fact that I’m working in a flux of expanded consciousness quite different from ordinary life. In spite of that, I like to work on the blurring of frontiers between life and art by including processes and actions that were always available to my intuition and judgment. It’s probably only a matter of listening to “silence”. Accordingly,
improvisation and indetermination are constant ludic concerns in the processes I like to work with. Moreover, an outsider, primitive or raw creation spirit always drove my urge to make things, both in video art as in performance art or mixed media. But, on the other side, I’m strongly influenced by the language of experimental cinema and video art, not only as a viewer but also as an academic researcher and teacher. Ghost
As an emotional painter, she works with the inner world that is reflected in each of us. Her painting is telling a story and convey words that are giving a message. As an emotional creator playing with his thoughts, showing them proudly to the world, she combines visual and mental perception. The image is the total of all sensations, so it remains forever. She wants to merge everything into one. Forever.
If I lose myself, I lose the key. If I lose myself I lose the world I see.
When I lose myself, the flowers lose the colors. My heart stop beating and it creates a chaos.
If I lose myself, do I lose the sky and the sea ?
If I lose myself, I lose the mirror of the world I see. Will I see the world in a different way ?
The sun with the sky and clouds would have the same face ?
Why do I have so many questions ?
Seeing the world differently brings me great satisfaction.

OUR LOSS. The praying man on the left represents the families that have lost loved ones to Covid 19 in the pandemic. The hearts emanating from him and moving to the coffins represent the prayers and love of the families for their departed. The coffins stacked up reflect that moment when the pandemic hit NYC and there was not enough room for the bodies. The four simple coffins
below the ground represent the unmarked coffins buried in a trench at Hart Island. The hospital workers delivering the corpse are bringing the last body to fill the stack. The ambulance represents the work to get sick people to the hospital, to get them healed, the incredible work of the nurses and doctors to keep people alive. The sirens and lights express grief.

“Weronika Raczynska’s paintings are a vibrant testament to the power of color and form to evoke emotion and narrative. Through a bold use of paint and a distinctive style that marries abstract and figurative elements, Raczynska creates works that are at once deeply personal and universally resonant. (…) Raczynska’s paintings are also notable for their emotional impact. There is a rawness and immediacy to her work that speaks to the viewer on an instinctual level. Her paintings can be contemplative and quiet or full of raw energy and power. They invite an emotional response, asking the viewer to engage not just
with the eyes but with the heart and mind as well. (…) Raczynska’s work often touches on the human condition, exploring themes of identity, connection, and the passage of time. (…) Raczynska has created a body of work that is both impressive in its craftsmanship and moving in its impact, securing her place as a significant voice in contemporary art.
My work is very important to me and I use art to express my spirituality, physical state and make sense of my thoughts and emotions, I prefer to paint than to speak and I never plan any pieces to make sure I only use my intuition. When I paint I feel I’m connecting to my higher self and I channel those messages on the canvas. The synchronicities collection is based on those subtle nudges from the
universe that we often call coincidences but can often feel like something more, experiencing the interconnectedness of all things. Through paint and colour i can alchemise pain into beauty and happiness and hopefully this message gets across to the viewer and inspires them through their own personal darkness

Thanks to these I have had the opportunity to show my work in the most important countries in the world, including the United States, the Netherlands, Spain, England, Austria, Belgium, France (Louvre Museum in Paris), Italy (Palazzo della Cancelleria di Roma , Palazzo della Cancelleria Vaticana, Museo Villa Pisani di Venice) Denmark, Sweden,

In Italy, I was part of the tribute to Frida Khalo, an exhibition presented in Rome, Milan, Lucca, Ragusa, Melilli, Consenza, Diamante and Florence. During the beginning of the pandemic, one night I had a revealing dream, where he showed me the new style I should paint. The next morning I did my first work. Giving rise to what art experts have called “Modern Pop Expressionism” At first I was questioned and criticized by very close family members. But the opposite side of the coin is that I have won 11 awards internationally (Italy, France, Spain and the United Arab Emirates) thanks to this new style.

A map is a symbolic necessity for a sea captain sailing the vast seas. The story of a captain who goes to Treasure
Island using an old map to find treasure buried on the sea floor is expressed in this work.

I drew it using acrylic paint, imagining plum blossoms in full bloom in spring, and just as the buds burst and the flowers bloom, I drew it with the hope that a new spring will
begin in my heart as well. For a three-dimensional feel, I scooped it up using a spoon and drew pretty flower petals.

As an architect by training with an emphasized interest in ruins and drawings, all of my work pursues space, time, and the essence of the human condition. The works aim to convey expression, emotion, and observation.

What inspired you to pursue a career in art, and how has your style evolved over the years?
My journey into art began as a deeply personal exploration of how much—or how little—was needed to convey an idea, emotion, or moment. I’ve always been fascinated by the fundamental simplicity of shapes, colors, and materials and how they interact with their surroundings. Over the years, my style has evolved into a pursuit of balance and reduction, striving to distill each piece to its essence without losing its depth or mystery. This evolution has been guided by a desire to create artworks that radiate calm, peace, and serenity while maintaining a subtle tension that keeps them alive and engaging.
How do you approach the creative process when beginning a new piece? Do you follow a specific routine or let intuition guide you?
My creative process is a blend of intuition and thoughtful exploration. I don’t begin with a rigid plan; instead, I allow the piece to reveal itself as I engage with the materials and forms. It’s about finding a balance between intention and spontaneity, letting the work guide me as much as I guide it. Often, I start with an idea of the emotions or concepts I want to convey, but the journey unfolds through each brushstroke, adjustment, and interaction with the canvas. This intuitive approach allows me to stay open to unexpected possibilities, ensuring each piece feels authentic and alive.
Can you share the personal significance behind “Equanimity”? What emotions or ideas were you aiming to convey?
‘Equanimity’ was born from a desire to capture a sense of calm and inner stillness, reflecting the delicate balance we all seek in life. I wanted to explore how simple forms, colors, and textures could evoke a grounding experience, offering a moment of peace amidst the chaos. The piece is about finding harmony in the seemingly ordinary, revealing that even in simplicity, there’s a profound beauty and depth. It embodies the idea of being fully present, embracing serenity while acknowledging the subtle tensions that make life so rich and dynamic.
What role does nature, society, or personal experience play in shaping the themes of your artwork?
Nature, society, and personal experience all play a significant role in shaping my work, but it’s often the universal concepts they represent that truly resonate with me. Nature offers endless lessons in form, rhythm, and proportion, while society provides a backdrop of contrast, structure, and the dynamic interplay of energies. My personal experiences are woven into the process, influencing how I approach each piece, yet I aim to distill these influences into something more fundamental. The goal is to create artworks that transcend the personal, capturing themes of balance, harmony, and the essence of existence that feel relatable and grounding to anyone who engages with them.
How do you feel about the intersection of technology and traditional art forms? Has this influenced your work in any way?
I find the blend of technology and traditional art forms intriguing, as it opens up new possibilities for exploration. While I stay rooted in hands-on, traditional techniques, technology offers a way to expand my approach and reach. It enhances my process, but the core of my work remains in the direct interaction with materials, where true expression emerges.
Who are the artists (past or contemporary) that you admire, and how have they influenced your artistic journey?
I greatly admire artists like Constantin Brâncuși and Giorgio Morandi, who had an extraordinary ability to distill form to its purest essence. Their work teaches the beauty of restraint and how simplicity can be deeply evocative. Contemporary artists such as Anish Kapoor, who explore form, space, and perception, also inspire me to push the boundaries of how art interacts with its surroundings. These influences have shaped my journey, encouraging me to create with intention and clarity.
Winning the Van Gogh Tribute Award is a tremendous achievement—how do you think this recognition will impact your future work and artistic goals?
Winning the Van Gogh Tribute Award is an incredible honor, and it reinforces my commitment to exploring the themes of balance, simplicity, and essence in my work. This recognition encourages me to continue pushing the boundaries of my artistic journey, trusting even more in my intuitive approach. It serves as a reminder to stay true to my vision while also inspiring me to explore new possibilities, refine my techniques, and delve deeper into the concepts that resonate most deeply with me.
What message or emotions do you hope people take away when they view your art?
I hope my art offers viewers a sense of calm, balance, and introspection. I want each piece to be a grounding experience, inviting them to pause and connect with the beauty of simplicity and stillness. At the same time, I aim to leave a hint of mystery—something that encourages them to explore the subtle nuances and relationships within the work, finding their own meaning and connection.
