PUBLISHER’S LETTER

LADDER S

omewhere far away on a huge mountain between the trees stood a ladder. The ladder was really tall, but the wood was rotten and moldy. The ladder’s paint was faded and grey. The ladder had been there for such a long time, and nobody knew what it had been used for. Surrounding the ladder stood large, strong, vibrant trees that looked very majestic. Compared to those trees, this ladder looked really ugly and not attractive at all. One day, some lumberjacks went alongside the mountain and noticed the ladder. They were really surprised to find a ladder in such a place. When they came closer to the ladder, they could see old dirt and rust on it, and they all agreed that this ladder did not have any purpose in this spectacular forest between the magnificent trees. All of them decided that the best thing they could do would be to chop down the ladder. They chopped the ladder down into pieces that they did not have any use for at all.

KATARZYNA (KASIA) SZUMAL PUBLISHER

Later that day, the lumberjacks went home. When night came, they noticed that it was very dark, and there were no stars or moon in the sky. The next night, they went outside their homes and noticed that it was so dark they knew that something was wrong. At that moment, they all had the thought that perhaps they should go back to the place where they chopped down the ladder. When they got there, they noticed a small man who stood in front of the chopped ladder. When they asked him what he was doing there he said that someone had chopped down his ladder, so he could not light up all the stars. This story illustrates how small things, random people, events, and thoughts are important, and how everything matters and creates our reality. This summer, I hope that each of you is able to take some time for yourself and celebrate all of the small things and the big things about you, and appreciate the people and things around you as well. You matter and everything around you does as well. At this moment, I want to encourage all of you to support our advertisers and be an active part of this community. Your support and impact are both appreciated and important! Enjoy our July issue and have a great summer! Happy Independence Day! The Best,

[COMMUNITY Q&A]

ASK ALECIA by Alecia Rice

Q: I’m evolving out of my religion into more of a neutral spirituality, yet my husband is still content being a Christian. He’s having difficulty understanding some of my changes. How do we navigate this transition to stay together? — Questioning My Beliefs A: Dear Questioning My Beliefs, My response is based upon your husband being more of an “open” Christian who may not share your new beliefs but is conscious enough to understand that you get to choose what brings your soul peace. If he’s not, that’s much more complex and may not give you much wiggle room to work with, especially if you’re raising children. Many are standing in your shoes, not quite sure which way to turn, as they’re torn between the questions that their minds and hearts are seeking answers to while not wanting to put distance between them and their loved ones who seem content in their belief systems. It can be an adventurous—often uncomfortable—journey which requires varying amounts of time to settle into a place that finally feels safe and solid. It requires much courage to continue forth in the midst of spousal uncertainty, but respect and good communication have a way of bridging troubled waters in the relationship, when love and flexible mindsets are held up as essential tools and goals for continued connection. Clear, honest communication is key to keep resentment from building through 8

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE JULY 2019

your changes. Seeking comfortable mediums that serve and support both of you, is the goal that we’re looking for, rather than attempting to persuade another to believe differently. Changing the dance steps—let alone the music—of the relationship in big ways can really upset the equilibrium of the partnership because our shifts affect how our partner engages, dances and flows alongside us. Multi-faith marriages require mutual respect, maturity, curiosity and lots of empathy, held on behalf of our partners as we try to understand where the other is coming from while learning a new dance. Without these tools in place, it’s easy to inadvertently step on each other’s toes as we blindly seek our way forward in the midst of the uncertainties of change. Seeking new ways can be a very scary, messy process. It’s hard enough to see our own way through it, let alone deal with the potential insecurities, fears and questions of another who seems in disagreement with what we are doing. This dynamic can easily lend itself to a “crabs in a bucket” mentality where, as a crab begins to crawl up and out of a bucket, the others will pull it back down to keep it from escaping. This is a real phenomenon by which our relationships can sometimes be affected. Friends and family can fear the changes we’re making, thereby judging and trying to run interference with our choices, because as we change it also affects their lives. We know that most people

resist change, especially when someone else’s changes are rearranging the life that we’ve become comfortable in. First and foremost, we must be true to our connection with the God/Source, what we’re feeling, and why we’re seeking in new places. We alone are responsible for the state—and peace—of our souls. This is one thing that shouldn’t be compromised away just because another doesn’t agree with us. Faith is a quiet, deeply personal issue on which we’re not necessarily going to be in perfect alignment. If your husband is flexible, invite him to visit your new place of spiritual fellowship to help remove some of the mystery of what you’re now learning. Share articles or videos that you can read or watch together of your new favorite topics which may be helpful to him understanding your changes. The more he understands, the better chance you have of him being supportive even though he still may not agree. Sometimes we can hear things differently coming from a stranger than we can from our loved ones. It’s also important that you accompany him to church or social functions on occasion to reciprocate him sharing in yours. You may not share the same beliefs anymore, but you’re still a couple that, hopefully, wants to remain bonded through whatever your differing faith journeys are and supporting one another accomplishes this. Divergent belief systems can be a challenge to navigate, but they’re not impossible if you both stand in a place that respects and supports the right of the other to believe differently. If you have a strong foundation of friendship, chances are you’ll come out the other side of this dancing a beautiful new dance. Janae: You describe your book as a memoir of remedies, would you like to elaborate on what that means to you? Megan Griswold: Yeah. I had a rather unusual upbringing. My family was very immersed in “New Age stuff.” When I was born I was assigned a Christian Science practitioner; by age seven, I asked Santa for my first mantra for Christmas and got one; and by age 12, I was taking weekend workshops. So, I’ve done over 15,000 hours of spiritual and New Age practices organically—not as an experiment. Then I was married, my husband got arrested for soliciting a prostitute who was an undercover cop. That experience put enough pressure of a certain kind that I dove into what I knew to do when I was in pain or having a challenge. That was these alternative experiments. The book reads more like a novel; it starts on the night of his arrest. Every chapter kicks off with the name of that therapy, purpose, cost, equipment needed and humiliation factor (that is my favorite). The book mentions over 200 healing practices, and there are about 100 that provide the lens to tell the story. Spencer: You mentioned the “humiliation factor.” Are you talking about opening up to your vulnerabilities? MG: Yeah. I think in a lot of times, whether it’s in a group setting, one-on-one or even with just yourself, you can be embarrassed. I’ve been embarrassed with just me watching. During a silent retreat, the meditation teacher sent me up in the woods to do this stick-mashing exercise alone. I was just so embarrassed to do the whole thing with just myself. Now, however many years later, I had to do this trailer for the book where I had to reenact some of the activities in the book. So, I had to do the same exercise. I was in the middle of Grand Teton National Park, and I stamped out this little place in the snow and did the stick-smashing exercise. I had to raise sticks over my head and yell like a lunatic. My friend was photographing, and she had an assistant with her who was doing the steady-cam. There was this funny moment when she looked at her assistant and said, “I think I should have told you more about the book.” [Laughs.] I had started in and went berserk, and I thought, “Oh my God! I’ve obviously changed!” This had mortified me years ago by myself, and here I could do it in front of people. Tourists were driving by and filming it; it was ridiculous! In a different moment, I would have definitely been more embarrassed. JJ: I could see the humiliation factor being a valuable part of the therapy by helping you to get over yourself. MG: Exactly! I like to name it as humiliating, rather than pretend that it’s not a little uncomfortable to do these types of things. SS: It is difficult, if not impossible, to go through life totally independent from other human beings. I think the root cause of toxic masculinity is how our culture socializes men not to talk about their feelings. In order to find spiritual engagement, emotional growth, a therapist that works for you, or any of these things that are going to help heal you as a man, you have to acknowledge that you need other

people. This applies to women equally. If you want to be independent, not co-dependent, you need to know how to find the right people to help you. MG: I definitely think that culturally women are encouraged to be curious and looking for insight. I think it’s absolutely true that men aren’t encouraged to do that. Certainly, the challenges I’ve dealt with have to do with being around a wonderful man who wasn’t given the tools he needed to deal with the hand he was dealt. JJ: Besides writing this book, your website says you reside in a yurt, and you’re an off-the-grid interior designer. Can you tell us a bit about that? MG: One thing that I find particularly nourishing is being outside in the back country. (I used to be a mountain guide instructor.) While I was working on becoming a full-time writer, I was cultivating other income streams. It turned out I was good at making pretty places and turning them into Airbnb type businesses. I had the opportunity to rent a yurt and then another yurt, in this unintentionally intentional or intentionally unintentional community in the middle of Grand Teton National Park. It’s a little bit like living in New York and stumbling into a rent-controlled apartment. So, after renting a couple yurts in this community, I got to build one. That developed into its own design project, separate from the Airbnb operations that I started. I started to be able to merge my interests and spend all this time outside and erect this beautiful space that’s affordable. The project turned into an online resource for other people who want to curate beautiful places for themselves that are essentially off-the-grid. JJ: Are you part of a community there? MG: I knew myself well enough that I knew that I did not want to be completely isolated. I like that we have this interaction in the bathhouse doing dishes or laundry, or that we’re looking out for each other. Somebody will look out for my solar panels or clean them off or vice versa; or I’ll look after somebody’s pup. I think something interesting happens when we don’t have much insulation. I think with very thin walls, you feel what is going on under the other roofs. It’s like when you sleep outside in tents and you cycle up with the moon. I think you are cycling up with your neighbors and what’s going on with them. You become sensitive to that. Janae Jean serves as an editor and media consultant Conscious Community Magazine. [ALL ABOUT TOWN]

WHEN LIFE THROWS YOU LEMONS…

MUST YOU ALWAYS MAKE LEMONADE? June 2, 2019

by Theresa Puskar I headed downtown today to review an event, only to be disappointed that it had been canceled at the last minute. I found it interesting that this also happened last month (which is why you got a movie review instead of my usual event review). To satiate my angst, I detoured to my favorite downtown doughnut joint and purchased a delectable deep-fried “Do-Wrong,” buttermilk, sugar dipped-dipped-and-dippedagain doughnut. I shoveled it into my mouth, so engrossed in my frustration, that I barely allowed myself to experience the delicious taste. It was down 12

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE JULY 2019

my throat and into my belly before my taste buds had a chance to know what hit them! On the hour-long drive back to the western suburbs, while trying to ignore the “fried” and “sugar” guilty pangs that arose with every morsel that I had snorted, I asked myself, “Do I always HAVE to make lemonade when I am dealt lemons? Why? And who says so? Humbug!” I find it interesting how often old paradigms—emotional and spiritual patterns that I have worked on throughout my life—continue to rear their determined

heads. That good ol’ guilt that stemmed from my family dynamics, my upbringing in an organized religion and my own self-shaming psyche continues to challenge me in my life. When I think of the tens of thousands of dollars that I spent on therapy, workshops, seminars, as well as book and audio programs, I am aghast. That being said, I would not have given any of it up, despite the continued internal battles I fight. It’s a funny theater of the absurd that often plays out in my mind. The witness-self watches as the ego and higher-self stand their ground:

Self 1: “I’m angry. I’m frustrated. I hate this world!” Self 2: “Seriously? And you say you are committed to growing more consciously? You’re failing BIG TIME at doing so with such a negative attitude.” Self 1: “**** you. I don’t need this guilttrip now! Leave me alone and let me experience this.” Self 2: “Be careful! You believe in the Law of Attraction. What are you attracting into this world with such negativity and anger?” Self 1: “Yeah, well... What are you attracting with all the guilt you are spewing?” Does this internal self-dialogue sound familiar? The tricky thing is that neither voice is that of the higher-self. That is what so often trips us. The ego is really crafty, and often, under the guise of the higher-self, stands steadfast in its righteousness, determined in its condemnation. Therein lies the internal struggle that we see externalized all over the world. There is a battle, but although one side is determined, it waves the flag of consciousness—both sides judge and stand immobile in their righteousness. Especially in America’s current political arena, I find myself vehemently judging the judgers, and in doing so, I realize that I am no better than they are! In a sea of anger, I want to right the wrongs of the “other side,” determined to squelch the voice of those “other” wrongdoers. However, hatred begets hatred, judgment begets judgment. When I catch myself fighting this battle, I try to stop and say a prayer—for myself, for America, for the world, and especially for the “other.” I try to stay away from the inflammatory projections on the news and take a moment to witness the innocent child that is hidden at the core of the one I perceive as the perpetrator. While this is not always easy to do, I selfishly try whenever I can because I feel better about myself when I do. Life is such a complicated paradox at times. Then I find that I am pulled into that “SHOULD-self” time and time

again. It’s as if my higher-self is testing me. “Do you really want peace? Do you really believe you are guiltless?” A couple of months ago, I attended a spiritual community event that I was new to and found myself tormented. At times, it seemed to be of such a high level of awareness, and at other times, I found myself feeling that it was punitive and shaming. I wondered if this was another “SHOULD-self” testing me. The wonderful thing is that I asked for guidance and set my intention on getting clarity. As usual, I asked and abundantly received a response! After being absent for three months, I attended another event at the venue and was struck by two experiences that ultimately gave me my answer. In the first, I was telling one of the community members about my new business initiative, Dragon Soup Children’s Theatre Training and Productions. In the fall, I am starting a pre-school program, Power Princesses and Super Heroes, that develops selfacceptance, confidence, conflict resolution and other emotional intelligence skills through fun, musical theatre and storytelling. A grandmother’s response was shocking and perfect, “I’m so glad my grandson attended our blessing. Now I can talk to him about the darkness in his heart.” Yikes! In my program, I’m talking about the light that shines in the hearts of all children, young and old, and she wants to share rhetoric on darkness in their hearts? No, thank you!

the road upon which I was already traveling. While I anticipate that such forks in the road will continue to take me off-course occasionally; with each detour, I grow stronger in my clarity and deeper in my conviction. At times, I may find lemonade stands along the road; at other times, I may just have to suck it up and continue to growl in the sour soup of my own self-creation. Either way, I’ll keep on walking. Theresa Puskar is an author, performer, speaker, minister and motivational audiobook producer. She is the creator of the “Terri” children’s book series, as well as being an actress and director. A powerful inspirational speaker and transition leader, Theresa edu-tains her audiences, by touching hearts and minds in a way that is engaging, joyful and life-affirming. Her most recent endeavors are her solo show Causeless Joy and her new company, Dragon Soup Children’s Theatre Training and Productions. For more information, visit www.TheresaPuskar.com.

Then as I was leaving the event, the leader of the program approached me in front of fellow community members and said, “I haven’t seen you in three months. Is our program too difficult for you?” I responded that I am constantly seeking to raise my consciousness, whether under their guidance or not. It has nothing to do with difficulty, however, I instantly realized that his comment was shaming. It challenged my integrity and my commitment—and it was perfect. As I left, my heart was filled with gratitude and my mind found the answer it was seeking. Enough shame. While for a short time, I was tempted to fall back into the realm of “I am guilty and not enough,” I decided to stay on CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

[FROM THE HEART]

THE WITCH DOCTOR’S SECRET by Alan Cohen

In rural West Bengal, India, many people harbor the strange belief that if they have been bitten by a dog, they have become pregnant with its puppies. The fearful victims run to a witch doctor, who administers yogurt and herbs and tells them they are no longer pregnant. Then they go home relieved. The dynamic behind “Puppy Pregnancy Syndrome” illustrates what A Course in Miracles describes as “magic,” the belief that material things outside of us can 14

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE JULY 2019

hurt us or heal us. The Course takes a firm stand that our pain and healing are more a function of our thoughts than physical causes. It tells us, “You are not bound by all the strange and twisted laws you have set up to save you. You really think that…a small round pellet or some fluid pushed into your veins through a sharpened needle will ward off disease and death.” The Course teaches that we are sustained not by medicine, money or lovers. We are sustained by the love of God.

It goes on to explain that the real physician is the mind of the patient; we choose doctors as agents who play out our intentions. Because we have been invested by God with the ability to create, we are capable of making up stories of sickness and healing and then manifesting them in our experience. Considering the Course’s bold stance on the power of the mind, “Puppy Pregnancy Syndrome” is not so different from the ways we manufacture

and offset more accepted diseases. We dream we are sick, we go to a doctor who believes in the same dream (or, more precisely, is an actor in our own dream), the physician prescribes dream medicine, and then we experience a dream healing. Yet, in spite of the apparently solid storyline, we were never really sick in the first place. We are eternal, whole, spiritual beings created in the image and likeness of a perfect God. We got mixed up thinking we are bodies, became subject to all of the “laws” that govern bodies and produced the stories that bodies go through. Yet even as this drama unfolds, we remain as God created us. Neither I nor the Course are suggesting that you should avoid, deny or discredit doctors and medicine, all of which help in important ways. Good doctors and medicine are blessings that serve nobly to relieve suffering. We achieve healing in accord with the way we are willing to accept it. Better to get yourself out of pain than hold out until you are enlightened. Meanwhile, we can work to peel away our beliefs in magic. We must examine our thoughts and attitudes and recognize their link to the condition of our health. Edgar Cayce said, “Mind is the builder.” Thoughts build illness and they build healing. In a sense, all disease is psychosomatic. Not that we don’t have physical symptoms, which certainly feel real in the world of the senses. Yet physical symptoms do not appear randomly. They are always connected to our consciousness. Physical illness is the last step in the progression of thought and emotion. Louise Hay did groundbreaking work identifying the relationship between belief, feeling, illness and healing. Her books Heal Your Body, and You Can Heal Your Life provide clear roadmaps tracing obvious symptoms to more subtle causes. When I coach a client who has a physical illness, I pull one of Louise’s books from my desk drawer and read to the client the correlation between the mentalpattern and the disease. In almost every case, my client has an “aha!” and

hooks up cause and effect. Then we mobilize Louise’s suggested affirmation of truth that offsets the illusion to which the client has been subscribing. Yogis tell of a man who went to visit a friend in the country. During the night the visitor got up to go to the bathroom and saw a deadly snake coiled at his feet. In the morning the host found his guest dead on the ground, next to a coiled rope. The guest had gotten so frightened that he died of a heart attack. Even though there was no snake, he was just as dead as if a deadly snake had bitten him. A Course in Miracles tells us, “Illusions are as strong in their effects as the truth.” No one has ever gotten pregnant from a puppy bite, but plenty of people give birth to diseases resulting from stress and fear, both of which, A Course in Miracles explains, are entirely unnecessary and founded in illusion. While we

may be tempted to laugh at ignorant rural Indians, we all suffer from ignorance. Fear bites worse than any dog, and love heals more powerfully than yogurt and herbs. Rather than running to a witch doctor to cure a disease we made up, let us run to reality, the ultimate healer. Let’s not attempt to escape from one illusion by trading it for another. If we are going to escape from illusions, the only place to escape to is reality. Alan Cohen is the bestselling author of A Course in Miracles Made Easy. WHY HERBS AND SPICES MATTER by Linda Scotti, RN, BSN, MA I’ve always been interested in nature and plants. Scientists estimate that there are more than 5,000 phytochemicals (naturally occurring plant chemicals). These phytochemicals not only protect the plant from pathogens and cell damage, but they also help us when we ingest the plant. Herbs and spices contain high levels of these phytochemicals which are powerful antioxidants that improve digestion, reduce inflammation, support the immune system and are antimicrobial. More than 2,000 years ago, the Hippocratic school of medicine pro16

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE JULY 2019

claimed, “Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food.” Fortunately, this sage advice is coming back these days as more and more people are demanding local, organic, nutrient-rich food. Plant-based whole foods are gaining in popularity. Embracing a cuisine rich in spices, as well as fruits and vegetables, is not only much more flavorful but also health-promoting and disease-preventive. Herbs and spices not only add more flavor to our foods but also add concentrated nutrients for our health and well-being. Our ancestors have known this for thousands of years. We

only need to look at cookbooks from other cultures around the world to see how they’ve used the local herbs and spices in their food. Many of the chronic diseases today start in the gut with poor digestion. Digestive spices like ginger, coriander, cumin, fennel and cardamom should be added to everyone’s daily diet. Clove, oregano, thyme, cinnamon and cumin are now being studied as additives to prevent spoilage in packaged foods because of their high levels of antibacterial and antifungal properties. Why not put them in our food?

The Mediterranean diet has long been known for its health-promoting properties. Look at the herbs they use—thyme, rosemary, oregano, sage, lavender, etc. India has a very low incidence of dementia, primarily attributed to their daily dose of turmeric with its powerful curcumin pigment that gives it that bright yellow color. We can learn quite a bit from these cultures. When I visited Istanbul, the food was so flavorful and alive! My mouth still waters remembering the olives with fresh herbs that I ate for breakfast daily. Recently, on one of my frequent visits to Mexico City, I had oyster mushrooms with mole sauce at a vegan restaurant. The mole was purely vegan and made from scratch! The flavors danced in my mouth with each bite. I had never experienced those flavors in food before—an orchestra of flavors—the various chilies, the dried fruits, the nuts, the spices, and then, the dark chocolate. It was so amazing I purchased two bags of mole paste at a local vegan market to take home! The key to receiving benefits from these herbs and spices is to use the freshest and highest quality herbs and spices available. If possible, it’s best to buy the whole spice (seeds, barks, berries, etc.) in small quantities and grind them fresh as you use them. An inexpensive coffee grinder works great. This is especially important for herbal teas and infusions. Nowadays, there are many small organic farms that you can buy from directly. Please note, when I speak about using or ingesting herbs and spices, I am talking about cooking with herbs and spices—and using them in teas and infusions—not taking them in a pill form. Consult with a certified herbalist or your doctor when considering taking anything in a concentrated form.

THESE ARE SOME OF THE SPICES THAT I USE DAILY: Turmeric: Known as “Indian gold” and “guardian of the liver,” turmeric is beyond amazing, a must for everyone to take daily. As it’s very potent,

you only need one-quarter teaspoon per day to reap its immune boosting benefits. Always take it with a pinch of black pepper for better absorption. Cooking it in oil also aids in absorption. It’s available in powder or the fresh root. Its benefits are extensive—anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hemostatic (stops bleeding), blood purifier, and a powerful antioxidant—a cancer fighter. More than a thousand studies have shown the many cancer-fighting properties and DNA protection of curcumin, the active pigment that gives it that yellow color. Black Pepper: Known as the “King of Spices,” black pepper potentiates the bioavailability of turmeric as much as 2,000 percent! It also increases the bioavailability of other herbs. Coriander seeds: One of the oldest spices, dating back to 7000 B.C., coriander seeds have powerful cellprotecting antioxidants that soothe digestive ailments. Cumin seeds: Another super digestive spice, cumin is the most popular spice in Mexican cuisine. Its volatile oils come alive in Indian cooking as the seeds are put to heat and that nutty aroma fills the kitchen. Cumin is full of vitamins and minerals, including iron. It also is about one percent salicylic acid which contributes to its anti-inflammatory properties.

cardamom has powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-spasmodic qualities that improve digestion. The best cardamom comes from the rainforests of Southern India where it is harvested by hand. Its sweet flavor activates comfort and a positive feeling about life. This year, Veggie Fest will be held on the grounds of Danada South Park, 2701 Navistar Circle in Lisle, IL. Taking place Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Veggie Fest Chicago is a family fun festival, celebrating the joy, science, food, and compassion behind the vegetarian lifestyle. Admission is free! For more about Veggie Fest, visit us at www. VeggieFestChicago.com. See you there! Linda Scotti, RN, BSN, MA presents classes at the Science of Spirituality International Meditation Center in Lisle, Illinois. She has been working in the health-care field for over 40 years. Having lived and traveled all over the world, she and her husband have explored the foods, herbs and spices of Japan, Mexico, India, and many countries in South America. She says that the healing properties of herbs and spices are safe and effective when used in the kitchen to create delicious meals and aromatic teas and infusions.

Fennel: Fennel has it all: it’s a vegetable, an herb and a spice. The seeds have potent aromatic qualities, and help to relieve digestive problems, muscle tension and pain as it’s also a powerful anti-inflammatory. Ginger: I can’t imagine food without ginger. Ginger is a proven remedy for nausea, motion sickness, as well as a powerful anti-inflammatory shown to decrease joint pain. If you eat a small piece of fresh ginger before your meal, it stimulates the digestive firereleasing enzymes for better assimilation of nutrients. Cardamom: I’m in love with cardamom with its enticing flavor and aroma! Known as the “Queen of Spices” for its special medicinal and culinary values, CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

FULL MOON – JULY 16, 2019 Lunar Eclipse: Strong Currents of Emotion by Donna Stellhorn This month, we have the Cancer/ Capricorn Lunar Eclipse and Mercury retrograde (from July 7 to July 31), bringing us a focus on work/life balance. Cancer represents home and family, while Capricorn is our reputation and career in the world. This emphasis on home matters may give you a desire to declutter and tidy up your space. Some may choose to decorate, adding a few new items to brighten up the home. The Capricorn energy will be strong too. Those of you departing on vacation may find your desk overloaded with work before and after the trip, but your hard work will bring some recognition when your desk is clear again. You may feel unable to take time off because of the obligations of work, clients and customers. It would be a good idea to have a minivacation of a day or two at this time. For those who work for themselves, there are positive opportunities for business success. This month, you can shine in your profession. 18

| CONSCIOUS COMMUNITY MAGAZINE JULY 2019

This month, the eclipsing Moon sits very close to Pluto signaling a month where emotional reactions in people intensify. It can feel like the undertow of a strong ocean current unexpectedly dragging you into feelings. If you struggle, denying the feelings, it gets worse. Pluto can be overwhelming. But, if you stop for a moment and acknowledge what you’re really feeling and treat yourself with compassion and understanding, the emotions will pass. Over the next four weeks, you’ll feel the energy of Saturn opposing Venus. Saturn is about responsibility, hard work and focused attention. Venus is about having fun, spending money, being with friends and relaxing. When these two sit opposite each other we’re reminded to find the balance between them. This is about eating your veggies and then having dessert. It’s about saving some of your money and spending some too. It’s about marking some time as worktime but also giving yourself an opportunity to rest and play.

Additionally, Saturn sits with the South Node cutting off your usual escapes. Whatever you run to when you’re feeling uncomfortable is not there right now, or if it is, it’s not relieving the pressure. At the same time, Venus is sitting with the North Node. This means when you do your life path, break new ground and go outside of your comfort zone, you are rewarded. The rewards of Venus are great. They can be wealth, success, ice cream sundaes and puppies. So focus your hard work and study on things that move you into a new space in your life. Go outside your comfort zone and enjoy the rewards. Here are my predictions for each sign:

ARIES Recognition or a promotion is possible this month. (This may have been promised to you a while ago, but now it manifests.) Happy news comes from a family member. There may be an addition to the family announced. An older relative

gives you some wise advice, and they would love to see you follow up on it. A creative project brings the possibility of a financial windfall. Physical healing is happening. New treatments and/or health routines are benefiting you.

what you can do. There is exciting news from an adult child or younger relative. If you’re looking for love there can be opportunities for you at your gym, yoga club or martial arts studio.

TAURUS A planned trip turns out to be more involved than you first realized. You may be signing a contract for a large purchase, a residence or employment. Don’t sign until you negotiate for what you want. There’s a happy connection with a sibling or neighbor. You may be invited to a party that’s really worth your time. A small mishap at home may cause a little damage, so be careful at home. A mature woman pays you a special compliment.

VIRGO There is a lot of energy around children now. You may be hosting friends of your children. An adult child may bring home a new relationship. You might be expecting a child. Pets are also highlighted and one could be added to the household during this period. Travel or seeing a new place inspires you to make a bigger change. Career income shows a boost. If you’re looking for a new job, there are opportunities coming soon. A dear friend of yours can help you expand your circle of friends.

GEMINI More income flows in, and there may be money coming from the sale of a vehicle or large item. Investments need your attention this month. It’s time to rebalance your portfolio, or you may need to seek new investment advice. An argument with a sibling or neighbor can be averted if you keep your emotions in check. Your confidence can surge when you receive real support from a close friend, one whose opinion you think very highly of.

LIBRA Changes are happening at home. You may be doing a deep declutter or some repairs are taking place. Your career is going well. There are opportunities to expand what you do or to have your success recognized by someone whose opinion you value. A friendship may become romantic. If you’re already in a love relationship, there can be some quite romantic times this month. Changes in a diet or exercise routine will bring you a lot of benefits.

CANCER Several people gather to show you how much they care about you. One friend, however, seems jealous or preoccupied with his or her own stuff. A visit with a health care professional or alternative medicine doctor proves very beneficial. Finances improve and there may be an increase in income from a job. A person from your past reaches out to you. A new relationship can become more serious. It may be time to introduce this person to your friends and relatives.

SCORPIO Some transportation issues may need a creative solution, and you can find help through friends or co-workers. A book or television program inspires you to make a big change in your thinking. Management at your company has noticed your good work and may offer you a leadership role. You have a stronger spiritual connection to nature and the Universe now. A lover or friend from your past returns and says they have changed. Now is a good time to spend time with kids; you can make some happy memories.

LEO Your routine is disrupted this month with so many things you have on your list to do. You may need some downtime. Schedule yourself some time off or a mini-vacation away from home. Some changes at work bring you more confidence and an opportunity to show

SAGITTARIUS A new, exciting exercise program may get your attention. You are more confident and have more energy during this period. Some money you thought was lost is recovered. The Universe sends you a message in the form of a dream

or vision. Your relationship grows stronger as you find you understand each other more and more. It’s beneficial to buy less this month and find creative solutions instead; ask neighbors or friends if you can borrow items instead of buying.

CAPRICORN A new relationship may be getting quite serious. You may consider living together or getting engaged. If you’re looking for love, you have some opportunities if you ask friends to help. They will both give you advice and introduce you to some new people. A movie or a play you see inspires you to start a creative project. There is a peaceful resolution to a family matter due to your wise words and prudent actions. Help with a debt or obligation lightens your load this month. AQUARIUS A person you trust and care about pays you a wonderful compliment. It’s good to believe them. Changes at home bring joy. Now is the time to get rid of excess stuff, especially old electronics. You will benefit by finding ways to get more sleep; consider even getting a new bed. Work is stable, and you are finding co-workers you like to work with. You can attract more money now through magical actions like meditation, positive thinking and affirmations. PISCES You have a real opportunity to meet someone special. Consider attending parties and barbeques you’re invited to. A mistake on an invoice or your paycheck can be corrected if you bring it to the right people’s attention. There is a lot of energy around transportation; perhaps you’re looking at getting a new car. You can have a great time with children or younger relatives. Don’t miss an opportunity to be with them. Someone may ask you if you want to adopt a cat or very small dog. CELEBRATING NATIONAL HOT DOG MONTH WITH Carrot Dogs by Betsy Bruns

July is National Hot Dog Month. It’s said that because the hot dog is such a vibrant part of Americana, Hot Dog Month is celebrated in the same month that America celebrates her independence. While it’s unclear exactly when the hot dog was invented, they have been linked to sausages developed during the 13th century in Germany. Chicago may have played a big part in hot dog history. In 1893, the Colombian Exposition brought herds of visitors who devoured large quantities of sau20

sages sold by vendors. According to culinary historian Bruce Kraig, Ph.D., retired professor emeritus at Roosevelt University, Germans ate dachshund sausages with bread. (They were called “dachshund” or “little dog” sausages due to their shape). Since sausage culture is German, it is likely that Germans introduced the practice of eating dachshund sausages, which we know today as the hot dog, nestled in a bun. Since that time, adoration for the hot dog has exploded. Here are some fun facts:

• Major league baseball fans will eat 18.3 million hot dogs at ballparks in 2019. • 9 billion hot dogs are sold annually in the U.S. • Americans eat 155 million hot dogs on the 4th of July each year. • From Memorial Day to Labor Day, 7 billion hot dogs are consumed in the U.S. every year. • Mustard is the most popular condiment for hot dogs. While Americans love hot dogs and

consume billions of them each year, hot dogs don’t love us back. In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) released a report declaring hot dogs and other processed meats carcinogenic to humans. Studies show that consuming one daily 50-gram serving of processed meat—about the size of a typical hot dog—increases the risk of colorectal cancer by 21 percent.

½ teaspoon garlic powder

Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

So, how can we enjoy our beloved hot dogs and still eat healthfully? While there are many more healthful, plantbased hot dogs on the market, why not experiment with an alternative that not only won’t increase your cancer risk but helps to protect you from it? How about carrots over carcinogens?

First, cut the carrots to bun length and boil or steam them until they are tender but still have some snap. This would be one to two minutes on lowpressure in a pressure cooker or four to five minutes on the stove top. Once cooked, prick them with a fork several times to prepare for the next step.

We are talking about carrot dogs. Sound unreal? We double dog dare you to give these a try and bet that you will find them to be delicious.

Whisk the remaining ingredients (minus the buns) together and marinate the cooked carrots in the sauce for a minimum of three hours. Throw them on the grill or pan fry for five to seven minutes.

Carrots love you back. They are loaded with beta-carotene and antioxidants, which supports the immune system and may help protect from cancer. Also, carrots are weight-loss friendly, may help lower cholesterol and improve eye health. Serve these up with a side of baked sweet potato fries to boost betacarotene and nutrition.

4 vegan hot dog buns The trick to carrot dogs is selecting carrots that are similar in thickness to a hot dog. If your carrots are not uniform in thickness, you may wish to whittle them even with a potato peeler before cooking.

Here’s where you can get creative. Top your carrot dogs with healthier alternatives like cucumbers, chopped fresh tomatoes, raw sauerkraut, sautéed onions and/or bell peppers. That old standby, mustard, is one of the cleanest condiments you can find at the supermarket and never forget the celery salt!

¼ cup apple cider vinegar ½ cup low-sodium vegetable broth

2 tablespoons liquid aminos or lowsodium soy sauce

GROW Your Business

CARROT DOGS 4 whole carrots

¼ cup aquafaba (bean juice from canned chickpeas)

Premix the spices to blend the flavors. Place cut sweet potato fries into a mixing bowl and toss with the spices. Next, spread the fries out evenly on the sheet pan, making sure they have space and that there is no overlap (that is the key to getting them crispy). Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, flip and turn the broiler on low and bake for another five to seven minutes, watching to make sure they don’t burn. Serve with your favorite condiments.

SWEET POTATO FRIES 2 large sweet potatoes cut into fry shapes, ¼ to ½ inch thick

which all manifests) and infinite possibility is being sent on the breath to the receiver. The role that the quartz crystal plays in the efficacy of the OXOY is significant.

[REVIEW OF HEALING MODALITIES]

OXOY

Breath That Heals by Susan Voigt Can you imagine sharing universal life energy by way of the breath, rather than the hands? This is what the OXOY, an emerging healing modality, opens the door to and welcomes in. The OXOY is both a tool and a method. The name comes from the symbolic and mystical significance of the point where vertical meets horizontal. The experience comes from the synergy of quartz crystal meeting breathwork meeting spirit. The OXOY is more than just a tool that facilitates a healer’s practice. It introduces at least two things that expand the giver’s experience, thereby expanding the receiver’s experience by equal measure. One is, in practice, the tube stretches the giver’s exhalation out. It is known that a longer exhalation followed by a shorter inhalation stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and enhances the meditative state. By introducing breathwork into the healing session, the OXOY heightens the giver’s expansion as they dance within alpha and theta levels of consciousness. Essentially, the breathwork component of the OXOY invites the giver into a richer meditative state than they might otherwise experience. This supports the healer’s work because where the giver travels, the receiver travels. The second is that the tube is crafted of 100% fused quartz crystal. Anyone who works with or has attended a crystal singing bowl event understands the power of quartz crystal. Quartz crystal is silica, and there is silica in every cell of our bodies. Whether that silica is activated by way of a bowl and a wand, or a tube and the breath, it is by way of resonance that the silica in the chosen modality speaks to the silica in the body. Then, by way of entrainment, the bowls influence because each bowl is tuned to a different note that aligns with a particular chakra. The OXOY influences because the giver is moving within the space between thought (the space from

The OXOY can be used alone or with enhancement accessories such as chakra colors, minerals, crystals, symbols, as well as other unique ideas that inspire a healer, such as essential oils. A detachable 4” diameter borosilicate diffuser is provided with a 12” long quartz crystal tube that is a comfortable 1/2” in diameter. The diffuser, crafted of silica and boron, aids in working with accessories. A set of seven 4” square 100% merino wool chakra colors are included for work with the primary chakras. While the use of minerals and crystals is an integral part of working with the OXOY, their selection is a personal one, so they are left for the energy worker to choose for themselves. The use of enhancements is powerful. They allow for the introduction of chromotherapy, activation of specimens, setting of symbols into motion, and more. Then these intensified frequencies and vibrations wind their way through the subtle bodies on the breath. The OXOY can be used alongside other modalities or as a stand-alone treatment. Gentling in with tingshas or bowls, moving to a bit of hands-on to say hello and create agreements, then introducing the OXOY creates a dynamic energy work session. Acupoint stimulation by pressure or needle can be enhanced by introducing the OXOY to gently encourage flow. Massage therapists can use the OXOY to support initial relaxation and throughout the session to assist in creating openings. Practitioners within the healing arts will naturally intuit how to incorporate the OXOY into their work. The healing kit for practitioners will soon be followed by a tool for individuals to use as a personal meditation enhancer. Additionally, a group of seven chakra colored tubes is in the works for couples. This intimacy set will be called “the7breaths.” Susan Voigt is a professional energy worker. Her training with Reiki Council expanded to a richer understanding of energy work through metaphysics intensives at Holistic Health Chicago. Her more than 20 years of meditation along with her work with crystal singing bowls and Peruvian whistles helped to crystalize her understanding. COSMIC DAILY WEATHER July 2019 by Bernadette Evans

Overview

July is a busy month astrologically. Eclipse season is back. Eclipses are new Moons or full Moons that are super-charged. They’re powerful, and their effects last approximately six months. The first eclipse is a New Moon Solar Eclipse on July 2 in the sign of Cancer. The focus will be on family and how you can look after yourself in the mix. How can you support others while being supported yourself? The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is on July 16 in the sign of Capricorn. Family will still be emphasized along with responsibility—what’s yours and what isn’t. The month ends with a second New Moon, this time it’s in Leo. What would you like to create? Maybe you’re seeking more romance, want to play with your children or grandchildren or want to be a leader that everyone looks up to. Whatever your intention is, New Moons are the perfect time to set your intentions for the coming month. Mercury stations Retrograde on July 7 and will be retrograde for just over three weeks. When Mercury is Retrograde, depending on how it’s affecting your chart, it can mean miscommunications, emails and text messages getting lost, or just delays in general. If you don’t have to make a major purchase at this time, don’t. Be sure to look over any contracts carefully, before signing. Mercury isn’t all doom and gloom, it’s a terrific time to revisit, rethink or re-evaluate what’s been working for you and what hasn’t, and then make the appropriate changes. There’s a lot going on this month; with patience, attention to details and taking some time out for yourself, it can be a great month. The Moon takes about 28 days to complete its orbit through the 12 signs, staying approximately two and a half days in each sign. When we say the Moon is Void of Course (VoC), it means the Moon makes no more major aspects to other planets before it leaves the sign its in. At these times, it can be difficult to get focused and accomplish a task. You may want to relax, meditate or do something where your focus is turned inward. Don’t try and get a new project off the ground when the Moon is void. If you want to find out more about the Void of Course Moon, check out Moontracks.com. The times below are listed in Central Daylight Time.

Monday, July 1 Happy Canada Day to my Canadian Readers! You may feel the excitement and the anticipation in the air. The Moon is winding up its monthly visit in Gemini; while Mars enters the fiery sign of Leo at 6:19 p.m. When Mars is in Leo, you may find yourself striving to be noticed. You’re feeling enthusiastic and want to be recognized for your hard work and achievements. Moon VoC at 4:48 p.m. until 8:24 p.m. when it enters the sign of Cancer.

Tuesday, July 2 The New Moon Solar Eclipse is at 10 degrees of Cancer at 2:16 p.m. It’s highlighting family and emotions. What feeds your soul? Spend some time thinking about what nourishes you, and focus your intentions there. At this time, you’re just planting the seeds; with time and nurturing, your intentions can blossom. With the New Moon sextile to Uranus, there’s a possibility of an unexpected business opportunity that could be lucrative. You may partner up with one or two people to bring it to fruition. Whatever you dream, keep your feet planted on terra firma to maintain your balance.

Wednesday, July 3 Venus enters the sign of Cancer at 10:18 a.m. When Venus enters the sign of Cancer 28

you may want to spend more time at home. You might feel like redecorating or to have family and friends over for a meal. With the Moon being VoC most of the day, you want to surround yourself with those you love and care about. You could also feel the need for some solitude and want a little me time. Moon VoC at 9:25 a.m. until 10:19 p.m. when it enters the sign of Leo.

Thursday, July 4 Happy Independence Day to my American readers! It’s a day of play and celebrating with family and friends, which is perfect with the Moon in Leo. You want to let your hair down and have some fun. With the Moon-Uranus square, you might feel the urge to shake things up; whether it is with people or a situation there can be a rebellious streak. Some may feel the restless energy and do nothing or feel antsy; while others feel it and want to stir the pot. Recognize the restlessness and go play without wreaking havoc.

Friday, July 5 The Moon is VoC all day and night in Leo. Self-confidence and pride are evident when you look at all that you’ve created. Congratulate yourself and give yourself a pat on the back for all your achievements. Moon VoC at 1:24 a.m. until 11:25 p.m. when it moves into the sign of Virgo.

Saturday, July 6 When the Moon trines Uranus, you could be craving a little excitement. You may also have a brilliant idea that is useful when trying to create some order in a certain area of your life. It could be innovative and make your life so much easier.

Sunday, July 7 You may want some time alone to sit with any feelings that surface when the Moon Trines Pluto. The Moon is Void for a good portion of the day, which makes it a great time to journal, paint, go for a walk or whatever speaks to you. Mercury Stations Retrograde at 6:14 p.m., another reason for reflection. Moon VoC at 11:50 a.m. for the rest of the day.

Monday, July 8 When Mercury conjuncts Mars, you’re quite passionate about your ideas and are eager to share them with others. You may be recognized for your ideas or for achieving a goal. There’s also the potential

for disagreements with others, as you may feel you have to defend your ideas. Moon enters the sign of Libra at 1:07 a.m.

Tuesday, July 9 Communication could come to a standstill with the Sun-Saturn opposition, squaring the Moon. You may feel misunderstood and want to isolate yourself. Is it possible to look at the situation another way? Find some middle ground that allows everyone to move forward with their feelings and dignity intact. Moon VoC at 2:36 p.m. for the remainder of the day.

Wednesday, July 10 Feelings are heightened with the MoonUranus opposition. You may be seeking passion and excitement just to change things up. There is a feeling of wanting to rebel and be contrary just for the fun of it. Moon enters the sign of Scorpio at 4:29 a.m.

Thursday, July 11 Sensitivity and intuition are heightened today. There is grand water trine in the sky, with the Sun-Moon-Neptune all dancing together. These three planets combined can create something magical and beautiful. It could be a creation of a relationship, or, a piece of art, or beginning a new spiritual practice. Whatever it is, you’re passionate about it. Moon VoC at 7:28 p.m.

Friday, July 12 You may feel the need to explore a new subject with the Moon in Sagittarius. The Moon-Mercury trine may prod you to speak up about your beliefs. You exude quiet confidence and want to share your thoughts about these beliefs. Moon enters the sign of Sagittarius at 10:05 a.m.

Saturday, July 13 Earlier in the day when the Moon quincunx Venus, you could find yourself compromising and rearranging your plans to get along with a friend. Then in the late afternoon when the Moon conjuncts Jupiter, your enthusiasm puts you in a party mood. You’re feeling generous and want to play. If there is one caution with this aspect, it’s about overdoing it. Moon VoC at 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, July 14 Home, family and responsibility are in the spotlight with the Sun-Pluto opposition. You could find yourself in the middle of a power

struggle today. A situation or a relationship may have come to an end, or an honest discussion may help resolve your differences. Moon VoC most of the day until 6:05 p.m. when it enters the sign of Capricorn.

Monday, July 15 Practical matters are at the forefront with the Moon in Capricorn. When the Moon trines Uranus an unusual idea could present itself, which helps you at work. There is electricity in the air with Uranus and the Moon-Mars quincunx. You may feel like you’re moving in one direction, only to find yourself readjusting and moving in another direction, then back again. It can be challenging trying to fit all the pieces together.

Tuesday, July 16 The energies of the Full Moon are amplified because there is a partial Lunar Eclipse. Pluto is also thrown into the mix, which makes it even more intense. The focus is still on family, home and relationships, a continuation of whatever took place on July 2. Is there something you’re seeing now with a more objective eye that you need to release? It’s powerful and emotionally intense. At times, you may feel alone on this journey, but you’re quietly determined and focused on what needs to be done and what you need to let go of. Today the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is at 4:38 p.m. and then the Moon is VoC.

Wednesday, July 17 There is an air of detachment today when the Moon moves into Aquarius. This feeling of separateness from others or feeling like you’re being restricted can make you feel like you want to escape from it all. You could turn inward and face whatever or whomever you want to run away from, head-on and learn from it. Moon enters the sign of Aquarius at 4:19 a.m.

Thursday, July 18 You feel pretty good about your relationships when Venus trines Neptune. Going out with friends tonight may be on the agenda. Nurture yourself and have fun; you can return to earth and reality tomorrow. Moon VoC at 10:53 a.m. for the rest of the day.

Friday, July 19 Mercury retrogrades back into Cancer at 2:06 a.m. You’re revisiting themes around CONSCIOUSCOMMUNITYMAGAZINE.COM

home and family. Seeing things from a different perspective may give you new insights after you’ve internalized your feelings. Moon enters the sign of Pisces at 4:19 p.m.

Saturday, July 20 The Moon in Pisces may motivate you to tap into your artistic side and feel into your emotions. Use your intuition to be creative or go on a meditative journey. Pisces can get lost in a spiritual practice, or drugs and alcohol, or too much TV. There are many roads you can go down; you choose the one you want to travel.

Sunday, July 21 The Sun-Mercury conjunction can enhance your awareness about what’s going on around you. Add the Venus-Pluto opposition and you could find those in authority trying to exert pressure or control the situation. Instead of getting drawn into any drama, use this energy to create something you love. Work on your craft, your hard work will pay off.

Monday, July 22 It’s the start of Leo season, so Happy Birthday to all the Leos out there! The Moon-Sun trine fills you with excitement and vim and vigor. You have enthusiasm when it comes to new ventures. All of this energy may get you fired up and out the door to exercise. Moving your body is a great way to dispel all this energy. Someone may also catch your eye today. The Sun enters Leo at 9:50 p.m. Moon VoC at 3:34 a.m. until 5:02 a.m., when it enters the sign of Aries.

Tuesday, July 23 The fiery energy continues with a grand fire trine between the Moon-Mars and Jupiter. Feelings of impulsivity and enthusiasm are abundant. You could have a lot of irons in the fire, wanting to run from one thing to the next. If you find yourself scattered but with lots of energy to burn, do a physical activity; it will help ease the restlessness and ground you.

Expressing how you feel to the people you love comes easily when Mercury conjuncts Venus. The Moon squares Mercury and Venus inspiring you to say what’s on your mind. Moon VoC at 9:48 a.m. until 4:42 p.m., when it enters the sign of Taurus.

Thursday, July 25 Hope and optimism are in the air when Mars trines Jupiter. Focus on a goal; have faith in your ability to make it happen, and go for it! Following your dreams inspires others to act and follow their dreams.

Friday, July 26 Intensity and passion are bubbling under the surface when the Moon trines Pluto. You want connections to be serious and deep. Everything is felt more strongly. Any sexual encounters are about connecting on a deeper, more soulful level. All this power and intensity can be exhausting, so recharge your batteries with a walk in nature. Moon VoC at 11:28 p.m.

Saturday, July 27 Venus enters the sign of Leo at 8:54 p.m. She’ll be there for just over three weeks. You may feel like going out to parties with your friends or buying something that makes you feel gorgeous and confident. There’s a desire to enjoy all that life has to

offer. There can be a need to express yourself in a dramatic way. Moon enters the sign of Gemini at 1:29 a.m.

Sunday, July 28 Today is a great day to gather information, do some reading, investigating, or working on something creatively. With the VoC Moon, you may not want to start any new projects. Also, be sure of your facts if you get into a debate with someone today, and take the time to listen to what they have to say. Moon VoC at 10:24 a.m. for the rest of the day.

Monday, July 29 You may be experiencing turbulent waters with the Sun-Uranus square and the Moon in Cancer. You may feel you have to exert your will over others and this isn’t going to sit well; or the opposite, you may feel someone is trying to exert their will over you. Either way, you may feel you need to escape. Taking time out for yourself to get some air is a brilliant idea. One word of caution, pay attention to what you’re doing, whether you’re walking or driving, to avoid accidents. Moon enters the sign of Cancer at 6:31 a.m.

Tuesday, July 30 Whether something has come to an end or you’ve arrived at a new beginning, depends on your point of view, when the Moon opposes Saturn. You could be feeling alone and depressed, but this is a momentary emotion and will pass. Tomorrow is a new day. Moon VoC at 10:32 p.m.

Wednesday, July 31 Mercury starts its forward motion tonight, and as much as you may be in a hurry to see your plans progressing, it will take a while before he picks up speed. There is also another New Moon this month, this time in Leo. One aspect of the New Moon in Leo is to connect with your Inner Child. Remember what it was like to just be in the moment and play? Have fun expressing yourself! Mercury stations direct at 10:58 p.m. Moon enters the sign of Leo at 8:18 a.m. New Moon at 10:12 p.m.
