Format for Flight Play

Each team will play every other team in their flight in a nine-hole match. Each player shall receive 80% of their course handicap where they fall on the card. Each match will be played off the low ball in the group. This means that the lowest handicap player in the group will play at scratch and all other players will receive the difference between their handicap and his handicap.

Scoring Format

Each hole will be worth 1 point. At the end of each nine-hole match, there will be a total of 9 points awarded. The winning team on any hole will receive 1 point, and if the hole is halved, both teams will receive 1/2 point each. There must be a total of 9 points awarded each nine. Every hole counts, so play every hole out.

If two teams are tied at the end of the competition, the tie will be broken by using the match played between the two teams. If they are still tied, the winner will be decided by a chip-off on the putting green. If three teams are tied at the end of all matches, there will be a chip-off to determine the winner. The first-place team in each flight will receive entry into the shootout with a guaranteed cash prize and will also receive the flight winner’s trophy.

Pace of Play

There is a lot of golf to be played over the next two days. If you or your partner is out of the hole, please pick up your ball. The pace of play will be very important to maintain the schedule and is everyone’s responsibility.

Canceled Match Policy

In equity, if a team has to withdraw for any reason after flight play has begun, all matches against that team will be scored as if the match was halved, even if some of the matches have been completed.

Additional Wild Card Shootout Teams

There will be 2 additional Wild Card teams that qualify for this year’s Shootout. The first team that qualifies will be the team that scores the most points but does not win their flight. This team can come from any flight. If there is a tie, the teams will chip off to determine the winner. The second team will be the team that scores the highest point total on Saturday. If there is a tie, the teams will chip off to determine the winner.

Matches Played Against Par

Each team in a flight that is short one team will compete in a match against par. Each team member will receive his full handicap for this match. Points will be awarded in the same manner of all other matches. All putts must be holed out in the match against par.

Pari-mutuel Betting

Players may place a WIN (1st) or PLACE (2nd) bet on any team in any flight. They may purchase as many tickets as they desire. The MINIMUM ticket price will be $5.00 and must be purchased in multiples of $5.00. Example: $15.00 to WIN on Team 48 in Flight 5, and/or $5.00 to PLACE on Team 3 in Flight 2. If two teams are tied for 2nd place at the end of the competition, the tie will be broken by using the match played between the two teams. If they are still tied, the winner will be decided by the highest point total on Saturday. If they are still tied, it will go back to the highest point total on Friday. The final payout odds will be computed on the Win and Place pools, just like at the race track. Ten percent will be withdrawn from the overall pool for incidental tipping.

Calcutta Betting

Owning your team has been built into the entry fee.

Individual Flight Betting

Although not part of the CCC TDMG itinerary, individual team bets are conducted within a flight many times. If that happens, CCC recommends that if two teams are tied at the end of the competition, the tie will be broken by using the match played between the two tied teams.

FORMAT FOR GRAND SHOOTOUT

The winning teams from each Flight, along with the two wild card teams, will compete in a shootout format using a true alternate shot format. Each team will be given strokes for the shootout under the following guidelines: Each team will have a total stroke count of each player’s modified (80%) handicap. For example, team A has a modified (80%) handicap total of 6 plus 11 strokes for a combined total of 17. This combined total will then be reduced by the lowest shootout team’s 80% combined total. That result will be divided by 2 to allot team A strokes for the shootout. Strokes will be applied to each team as they occur on the scorecard. For example, assume the low team total in the shootout has an 80% combined total of 12 and, as described above, Team A has an 80% combined total of 17. Calculate the strokes for Team A in the shootout as follows: 17-12 = 5; 5 divided by 2 = 2 1/2. Team A gets 2 1/2 strokes in the shootout where those strokes may appear on the card. For any hole that has a handicap of 1 or 2, Team A gets a stroke on those holes. And if a hole in the shootout has a handicap of 3, Team A would get ½ stroke on that hole. Play is then competed as match play with strokes applied. All teams in the shootout will start on hole #1. Each team must select one player to hit the opening tee shot and play will be conducted with a true alternate shot format from that point on. Three (3) teams will be eliminated on hole #1; three (3) teams on hole #4; three (3) teams on hole #5; and one (1) team on hole #10; with the final two teams playing hole #9 for the championship. Ties on any hole will be decided by a chip-off from an area selected by the Golf Professional.

3 Teams Eliminated on Hole #1 (Stroke Index #7) $300/Team

3 Teams Eliminated on Hole #4 (Stroke Index #13) $400/Team

3 Teams Eliminated on #5 (Stroke Index #17) $500/Team

1 Team Eliminated on #10 (Stroke Index #8) $1,000/Team Runner-up Eliminated on #9 (Stroke Index #1)

Champion #9

**If two teams tie after #9, they will replay #9 to determine a winner. If they remain tied after the second time playing #9, the championship will be determined via a “closest to the pin” chip-off from a location designated by the Club Professional.**
