JUNE AT CONESTOGA

Summer is officially underway, and we’re thrilled to welcome a packed month of fun, food, fitness, and fantastic golf here at Conestoga!

Social Highlights

We’re kicking things off with a member favorite, Pizza & Pasta Night on Thursday, June 5. It’s a perfect casual night out with family and friends. Then on Sunday, June 8, we invite you to our Splash Into Summer Picnic, a rescheduled celebration that promises great food, games, music by a live DJ, and poolside fun for all ages.

Get ready for one of our signature events, Fête en Blanc on Thursday, June 19. Dress in white and enjoy an elegant evening under the stars. And for our youngest members, we’re excited to host a Kids Night Out at the Pool on Saturday, June 21, an evening just for them with supervised fun, games, and dinner. We’ll cap off the month with our spectacular Independence Day Fireworks Celebration on Saturday, June 28, a night that’s always a highlight of the summer season.

New Opportunities

We’re introducing some exciting additions this month! Join us for Shana Fit Pop-Up Workouts on June 8 and June 29, a fun and energizing way to get moving outdoors. Also new to the calendar are Mahjong Nights on June 10 and June 24. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just curious to learn, these evenings promise friendly competition and great camaraderie.

Golf Season in Full Swing

June is a marquee month on the golf calendar! We are especially excited to host our three-day Member-Guest Tournament from June 12–14, an incredible showcase of our course, our hospitality, and the friendships that make this club special.

We’ve also launched a new offering: the Ladies’ Five & Dine, now open to social members as well, making it a great way to enjoy light golf, great food, and even better company. The Senior Club Championship will be held on June 21 & 22, followed by the Women’s Member-Guest on June 25, an always-popular event celebrating the women of Conestoga.

Pool Season Picks Up

After a cool start, we’re finally seeing the sunny pool weather we’ve been waiting for! Our team is thrilled to roll out the full and expanded pool café menu, now featuring a fresh lineup of snacks, salads, sandwiches, and pizza. We’re looking forward to providing you and your family with an exceptional poolside experience all season long.

As we head into the heart of summer, I want to share a sincere message of appreciation. Our team is passionate about what we do, and we take great pride in delivering an exceptional experience to each and every member. Thank you for your continued support, energy, and engagement—it truly is a privilege to serve such a wonderful community.

Here’s to a memorable June at Conestoga!

HERE WE ARE… SUMMER IS HERE!

It was a very interesting spring, to say the least. May brought almost 10 inches of rain — I guess April showers came a month late! The rain was much needed and certainly pulled us out of drought watch/warning. We were long overdue for these drenching conditions; in fact, it has been nearly three years since we’ve had rainfall this significant. One silver lining to all that rain: my payroll is lower than last year since we weren't able to work as much.

Fortunately, we had a great Memorial Day weekend. The only drawback was the unusually cool weather. Still, we're very pleased with the course. We were able to complete aeration in a timely fashion, and those aeration holes are helping the course drain more effectively.

The rough was challenging at times, but we managed to keep it under control between rainstorms and tournaments. I do want to clarify one thing: some members believe I raised the height of cut on the rough mowers. In my 20 years at Conestoga Country Club, I have never changed the rough mower height. It has always been set at 2.5" and has remained consistent throughout the years. The weather plays a huge role in how the rough grows. As I mentioned in my last article, the two best growing months are May and September — that’s when the grass is at its thickest. Just be glad our rough isn’t 5" high like it is at Oakmont during the U.S. Open!

Cheers, and see you out on the course. Matt Turner
