Itistempting,intheeducationworld,tofocusonacademicstotheextentthatchildrenhavealimited experienceoutsideofclassroomwalls. ButiftheapexofaChristianistoLoveGodandLoveour neighbor,thenweneedtomakesurethatoureducationisnotselffocused,butisinsteadapracticein humanity

Itisnotthatacademicsisunimportant,itissimplythatwehavecreatedasub-cultureofsmallhumans whosegradeandgradesbecome“whotheyare.” Aristotlespokeextensivelyofvirtue. Andalthougha pagan,heunderstoodthatastudentwhosimplygainedknowledgehadnotreallyreceivedan education

AtTheJubileeSchooltheTrivium,whichpedagogicallymovesfromtheconcretetothephilosophical, isappliedateverylevelandineveryeldofstudy,buildingskillsindiscernment.Academicallystrong andstrugglinglearnersareintegratedintolearninggroupsbasedonmasteryofmaterialratherthanage Curriculaisatoolratherthanamaster.Wesynthesizeeldsofstudyinstorycentricorthematic lessonsbasedonerasoftimeandbuildtheimportantliterary,mathematicalandscienceskillsnecessary forinterpretingGod’screationandtheorderoftheworld Outputexpectationsarevaried,because studentgiftingisvaried.Smallclassesfosterdiscussion,speaking,andservicewhilebeinggivenspaceto takeacademicrisk-equippingthemforresponsibilityandleadershipinGod’sKingdom.

EDUCATION FOR THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

TheJubileeSchoolaimstoteachstudentsofallabilitylevelsthroughsolidChristianpedagogyand materials. Becauseweareabletotakebothconventionalanduniquelearners(eventhosediagnosed withASD)ourprogramisverydistinct.Weoerclassicalteachingasinputbutonlyexpectclassical outputbasedonthegiftingofeachindividualstudent. Ourteachingisdoneinaone-roomstyle, settingwhereweimplementthetriviumandmovefromtheconcretetothephilosophicalasthe studentsareready.

Webelievethatthosediagnosedwithalearningdisabilityaswellasthosewithdevelopmentaldelays,or trauma, arenotdenedbytheircondition TheyarerstandforemostImageBearersoftheliving God.Theseuniquelygifted,andsometimeshurtingchildrenhaveamind,abodyandasoulthathas thesameneedsanddesiresasotherchildren. Forsome,thedierenceisintheirhyper-sensoryskills whichcanoverloadtheirminds Forotherstheyneedaddedassistanceinvariousbehaviorand academicareas Becauseofthis,ourgoalistogivethesechildrenalearningenvironmentthathelps themorganizetheirsensorysystems,seethemselvesasanintegralpartofGod’sworld,andinvestthe talentGodhasgiventhem.

Wedonotusethechild’sconditionasanexcuseforsin,butwemaymakeacademicandbehavioral accommodationsforchildrenattherecommendationoftheEducationCounciluponreviewof diagnosticinformationandorcircumstances. Thisdecisionwillnotbeautomaticaspertherequestof

aparent,wewillseekprofessionaladvice,pray,andconsultwithinvestedpartiestocomeupwiththe bestdecisionforthestudentandcommunity.

CULTURAL ISSUES

TheJubileeSchoolbelievesthatallhumanlifeissacredandthatwearecreatedintheimageofGod andcalledtodefendandprotectthatlife Webelievetherearetwodistinctgenders,maleandfemale andtogethertheyreecttheimageandnatureofGodandtheBiblicalmeaningof“marriage” describedinScripture.(Gen.2:18-25).

TheJubileeSchooliscommittedtoahealthydiscussionofthisissueinawaythatvaluesallthoseof otheropinions,yetdoesnotcompromiseourvalues. OurultimategoalisChristianunitywithinthe parametersoftheApostles’CreedandthetruthofScripture.

ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY

Useofpersonalelectronicdevices(i.e.phones,smartphones,portablegamingdevices,smartwatches etc)bystudentsisprohibitedoncampus Suchdevicesmaybeputonsilentorturnedoandleftin bagsorbackpackswhileastudentisatschooloroncampus. Anyuseofphonesmustbeapprovedby theHeadofSchoolorthesecretary.

● Arstviolationofthispolicywillresultinimmediateconscationofthedevice,tobereleased toaparentorguardian

CHEATING AND PLAGIARISM

Cheatingisdenedaslookingatanother’sworkwithouttheteacher’spermission,orcommunicating withanotherduringanexamwithouttheteacher’spermission.

Plagiarismisdenedasusinganother’sworkwithoutthankingthemfortheuse

Ifeithercheatingorplagiarismisnoticed,theassignmentorexamwillimmediatelyreceivea0. Parents willbenotied. Asecondcheatingorplagiarisminfractionwillresultinaneducationcouncilreview.

Dress Code Violation

Ifthesecretary noticesadresscodeviolationhewillinformtheHeadofSchool,theHeadofSchool willnotifyparentsthroughaClassReachdresscodeviolationform After4dresscodeviolationsan ocevisitwillfollowandanemailwillfollow. Afterthe5thwithinasemesterthestudentwillbe senthome.SubsequentdresscodeviolationswillrequiretheHeadofSchooltotreattheviolationsas ocevisitsinaccordancewiththedisciplinepolicy.

MISSINGHOMEWORK

a. Anymissinghomeworkwillbeenteredasa“0”inClassReach.Afterthethird “0” or thirdpoorgrade,theparentswillbenotied.Thelateassignmentpolicyis10%grade reductiontherst day,20%reductionthesecondday,and1percentagepointforany daythereafter A standing“0”willmeantheassignmentwasneversubmitted

OFFICEVISIT

TherearevebasicbehaviorsthatwillautomaticallynecessitatedisciplinefromtheHeadofSchool(versus theteacher). Thosebehaviorsarethefollowing:

1. Blatantdisrespectshowntoanystamember. Thestamemberwillbethejudgeofwhetheror notdisrespecthasbeenshown.

2. Dishonestyinanysituationwhileatschool,includinglying,cheating,andstealing

NAMEONTHEBOARDPOLICY

Themajorityofdisciplinesituationscanandshouldbetakencareofbytheteacherwithintheclassroom.

Whenastudentbehavesinanunlovingmanner(e.g.sideconversationsorblurting)thefollowingprotocol willbefollowed:

1 Therstinfractionwillresultinanameontheboard Teacherswillfollowupwithanemailto informtheparentsofthereasonforthenameontheboard,anddetailsfromfollowingupwiththe student.Noconsequenceswillresult.

2. Thesecondinfractioninadaywillresultinanocevisit.Theadministratorwillcallparentsto informthemofthedisciplinaryactionandwillseektheparentsassistancetoavertanyfutureneed fordiscipline Consequencesmaybegiven

3. Thethirdinfractionwillresultinasecondocevisit. Parentswillbecalledimmediatelyand informedofthedetailsoftheocevisit.Consequenceswillbegiven.

Excessive Office Visits

Asnotedabove,thepurposeofthedisciplinepolicyistoshapegodlycharacterinthestudent.Ifit becomesapparenttotheHeadofSchoolthatthestudent’scharacterisnotimprovingovertime and/orisbecomingworsetothedetrimentoftheschoolculture,theHeadofSchoolwillmeetwith theparentsandtheywillcomeupwithaplantoresolvetheissue.TheHeadofSchoolwillalsomeet withtheparentsincaseswherethestudentexhibitsalackofrepentanceorlacks interestinattending TheJubileeSchool.TheHeadofSchoolmay,athisdiscretion,allowforadditionalmeetingswiththe parentsifthepreviousdisciplineplantohelpthestudentwasunsuccessful Tohelptheparents understandtheirchild’sbehavior,theymayberequiredtositwiththestudentduringapartorallof theschoolday.IftheHeadofSchooldeterminesthatthestudent’sbehavioralissuestillcannotbe correctedthroughthedisciplineplan(s)generatedbythemeeting(s)withtheparents,thenitwillbe considereda“SeriousDisciplineCase”

IftheHeadofSchoolhasdeterminedthatthestudent’swordsorbehaviorconstituteaSerious DisciplineCase,thestudentwillbesubjecttoadisciplinehearingbeforetheschoolboard.The disciplinehearingwillincludethestudent,theparent(s),theteacher(ifapplicable),theHeadof School,andschoolboardmembers.Atthispointtheschoolboardwilldeterminethenecessary courseofactionwhichmayincludesuspensionorexpulsionofthestudent.Tuitionwillnotbe reimbursedforsuspensionsorexpulsions.

Thisblockoftimereectsourcommitmenttorestoringnotonlythecontentbutthestructureof education.Ratherthanarigidclassschedulethathurriedlymovesstudentsfromonesubject-specic classtothenext,interruptinggreatdiscussionsormeaningfulprojects,welingerlongerandgodeeper throughintegrationofmaterial,allowingthestudenttimetomasterlearning.

GradesatTheJubileeSchooldonotinanywayreecttheimmeasurableworthandvalueofeachchild madeinGod’simage,butratheranaccuratereectionofthequalityofworkinagiveneldofstudy atagiventime.AtTheJubileeSchool,gradesservethreebasicpurposes:

Wehaveestablishedabalancedandobjectivegradingsystembasedonthesevalues.

INDIVIDUAL GRADES

TheJubileeSchoolwilluseauniquemethodofgradingthatensuresstudentshavetimeto“practice” beforetheyreceiveagrade. Thereforeregular“feedback”grades,or“softgrades”onnewconceptswill beinternallykeptwhilegradesthataectoverallstandingswillberecordedinoursoftwarefor transcripts.Consistentwitheducatingthewholechild, bothattitudeandeortwillbeconsidered withinourgradingsystems.

GROUP PROJECT GRADES

Groupprojectsareapartofcourseworkanditshouldbeexpectedthatgradingofthesewillnotbe individualizedbecausewebelievethatcharacterincommunityrevealstheheart: IThessalonians5:14 “Andweurgeyou,brothersandsisters,warnthosewhoareidleanddisruptive,encouragethe disheartened,helptheweak,bepatientwitheveryone.”BecauseTheJubileeSchoolcaresevenmore abouttheheartthantheacademics,groupprojectsallowteacherstoseewherecharacterworkis needed,andsincewearepreparingstudentsforlife,notjustcollege,characterinChristiancommunity isintegralto“LovingGodandLovingNeighbor.”

Becausemathproblemsareobjectivelyrightorwrong,gradingwillfollowasimplenumbercorrectout ofthenumberofproblems. Exercisesthatarephilosophicallybasedwillfollowthehumanitiesscale (seebelow)

The Jubilee School, Inc (hereinafter referred to as Jubilee) was incorporated as a Non-protcorporationintheStateofIdahoonJuly10,2017 It currentlyhas501(c)3 status.

i. TheBoardofDirectors(henceforth“theBoard”)shallinitiallyconsistofeight members, of whom four shall hold regular ocer titles: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. iii. AllmembersoftheBoardofDirectorsshallservetwo-yeartermsfromthedate oftheirelection ThereisnolimittothenumberoftermsforwhichaBoard member may stand for election. Prospective board members may be nominated byexistingmembersoftheboard,includingself-nominations.If onlyonenomineeispresentedforagivenslotontheboard,aunanimousvote oftheotherboardmembersisrequired Ifmultiplecandidatesarepresented foraposition,a2/3majorityoftheotherboardmembersisrequired

iv. Electionofocersisdistinctfrom(re-)electiontotheBoard. Once(re-)elected totheBoard,boardmembersmaystandforelectiontooneofthefourocer positions. Theseshallbetwo-yearterms,withatermlimitofthreeconsecutive terms The procedure for nominating and (re-)electing ocers shall be the sameasthatforboardmembers.

v. Byunanimousconsentoftheboard,termlimitsmaybeextendedbyoneor moretermsforanyocerreachingtheendofhisterm.

vi Ifaboardmemberhastostepdownforanyreasonduringthecourseofhis term,hewillbeencouragedtonominateasuccessor. Otherboardmembers mayalsonominatecandidates,andtheelectionprocedurewillbethesameas in(iii)above. Thereplacementboardmember’stermwillbedeemedtoendat the annual meeting closest totwoyearsfromthedateofhisaccession The sameprocedurewillbefollowedforocersthatstepdowninthecourseof theirterms.

vii. Ifaboardmemberorocerisunableorunwillingtoperformhisdutiesoris deemedtobeactinginawayprejudicialtotheinterestsoftheorganization,he mayberemovedfromocebythefollowingprocedure:a)priortoaregular meetingoftheboard,anotherboardmembermayproposehisremovalasan agendaitem;(b)ifa2/3majorityvotesforhisremoval,hewillbesuspended; (c)atthenextregularmonthlymeeting,thematterwillberevisited,andifa 2/3 majority still resolvesonhisremoval,hewillbeformallyremovedfrom oce,andareplacementsought

b. Roles

i. ThePresidentshallberesponsibleforpubliclyrepresentingtheorganization, and for overseeing correspondencewithpartnerorganizations,unlesshehas delegatedsuchcorrespondencetoanotherboardmember ThePresidentshall bechieyresponsible,inconjunctionwiththeVice-President,fordeveloping andmaintainingthestrategicvisionoftheorganization.Heshallalsobechiey responsible for overseeing and facilitating the fundraising operations of the organization

ii The Vice-President shall be responsible for assisting the President in the fulllment of all his tasks. The Vice-President shall be responsible for overseeing any who have been contracted to do paid work forJubilee,Inc. (such as webdevelopers,etc.),unlesshehasdelegatedthistoanotherboard member He shall be responsible for scheduling and convening all board meetings, both monthly and annual, and for setting the agenda for such meetings, in consultation with the Secretary. The Vice-President shall be responsible,inconjunctionwiththePresident,fordevelopingandmaintaining thestrategicvisionoftheorganization

iii The Secretary shall be responsible for maintaining copies of all formal organization documents, with the exceptionofnancialrecords. Thisshall include meetingagendasandminutes,resolutions,bylaws,recordsofformal communications with partners or recipients of funding,etc. TheSecretary shall be responsible formaintainingaGoogleAppsaccounttofacilitatethe orderlymaintenanceofsuchrecordsandtransactionofBoardbusiness. The Secretary shall be responsible for aidingthePresidentintheformulationof meetingagendasandtheschedulingofmeetings,andshallberesponsiblefor takingallmeetingminutes

iv. The Treasurer shall be responsible for maintaining copies of all nancial records, including records of day-to-day transactions, quarterly and annual reports, tax lings, etc. The Treasurer shall be responsible formaintaining bankaccounts,andshallnormallyberesponsibleforissuingandreceivingall paymentsonbehalfoftheorganization TheTreasurershallberesponsiblefor preparing and presenting to the Board quarterly and annual nancial statements, and for preparing any intermediate statements at the Board’s

request. TheTreasurershallhavechiefresponsibilityforadvisingtheBoardon thenancialfeasibilityofproposedactions. Heshallalsohaveresponsibility foracknowledgingreceiptofdonations,bothattimeofdonation,andatthe endoftheyearfortaxpurposes

v. Theboardmayatanytimevoteonthecreationofnewocerpositions(at which time the bylaws shall be amended to describe these new positions). Thesepositionswillbenotbecomeformallyactiveuntillledbyelectionsat annualmeetings,asdescribedabovein(a)iv

vi. Otherboardmemberswhodonotholdregularocerpositionsmaybegiven othertitlesandrolesattheboard’sdiscretion(thoughtheseneednotcomprise ocesforwhichtheystandforelection). Normally,suchboardmemberswill be delegated to liaise with particular partner organizations, to assist the Vice-Presidentintheevaluationandresponsetonewfundingrequests,andto assist in coordinating fundraising operations, as well as otherrolesasneeds shallarise.

c Meetings

i Ordinarily,theBoardshallmeetonceamonthtotransactimportantbusiness, whetherinperson,byphone,orinternet.

ii. Allmattersnototherwisespeciedhereinmaybedeemedtoberesolvedbya simple(50%)majoritydecisionofBoardmembers.

1 Two-thirdsoftheBoardmustbepresenttoconstituteaquorum In theabsenceofaquorum,thememberspresentmaypassprovisional resolutions,butthesemustbesubsequentlyvotedonbyotherboard members, whether by correspondence or at a follow-upmeeting,to obtain the necessary majority, before such resolutions may be considerednal,oractedupon

iii. ResolutionsmaybetentativelypassedintheintervalbetweenBoardmeetings, whether by correspondence or online voting, so long as they are formally approvedbyavoteatthenextmonthlyBoardmeeting.

iv Monthlymeetingsshouldbeprecededbyanagenda,preparedbythePresident and Secretary, and carefully recorded in minutes, to be prepared by the Secretary.

v. At least once a year, the Board shall seek to meet in person at a location convenient toitsmembers,inordertoresolvemoredicultbusiness This annualmeetingwillalsobethetimefortheelectionofocers,asdescribed above.

vi. The date of the Annual Meeting may vary according to the scheduling constraintsoftheBoardmembers,butthespacingbetweenmeetingsshouldbe keptasclosetooneyearaspossible

a. ThevastmajorityofJubilee’sfundingwillcomefromdonations,whetherfromprivate individualsorotherfoundationsandorganizations.

b Donorsmayalsoelecttomakeone-timegiftsorongoingpledgesofsupportdesignated for a particular project, event, or initiative Such donations may notbeconsidered binding ontheboardinaccordancewithInternalRevenueServicerulings,however Jubileewillgiveweighttothedonorsdesiresandwillpre-alertanysuchdonortocases which the Board in its sole discretion concludes to be out of line with Jubilee’s charitablemission

c. AnymemberoftheBoardisauthorizedtosolicitdonationsonbehalfofJubileeandto formally represent Jubilee to potential donors within the bounds of these bylaws. Moreover, the Board may delegate or contract fundraising activities to other individualsatitsdiscretion

VI. Expenditures

a. Asidefromtheinitialfoundingdonation,theBoardshallstrivetospendallgeneral undesignateddonationsinthefollowingmanner:

i Atleast80%ofreceiptswillbespentdirectlyontheworkoftheorganization, whetheritisforpurchaseofeducationalmaterials,educatorsandspecialists, etc.

ii. No more than 10% of net receipts will be spentonoverheadexpenditures, includingsuchcostsassoftware,webdevelopment,design,postage,printing, etc.

iii. Nomorethan10%ofnetreceiptswillbespentonthetravelexpensesofboard members or individuals authorized to represent the board at events or fundraising, or on the remuneration of board members or individuals employedbytheboard

b. TheallocationsprescribedaboveinVIIawillbereviewedannually,andmaybealtered attheBoard’sdiscretion,butonlybyunanimousdecision.

c. Any decisions to remunerate Board members for their work on behalf of the organizationmustbeapprovedbyadecisionof2/3ofotherBoardmembers

d. Any decisions to contract expenditures must be authorized by the decision of the BoardasawholeandmaynotbeenteredintobyindividualBoardmembersactingon theirowndiscretion.

e AnexceptiontotheaboveiswhenindividualBoardmembershavebeendelegatedto makeparticularexpendituredecisionswithingeneralparametersalreadyauthorizedby theBoard. Forinstance,ifabursaryfundhasbeenapproved,andtwoBoardmembers deputed to administer it, they may authorize the particular bursary amounts, and directtheTreasureraccordingly,withoutseekingBoardapprovalforeachindividual transaction

f. EachmemberoftheboardshallbeasignatoryonJubilee’sbankaccount.

g. The Treasurer will be responsible for maintaining receipts for and records of all Jubilee’sexpenditures.

VII Amendments

a. These bylaws may be amended at an annual meeting by a 6/8 majority of board memberspresent.
