SEK-El Castillo, SEK-Ciudalcampo y SEK-Catalunya, a la vanguardia de la educación con el programa ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ El prestigioso Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award es un completo programa de desarrollo personal enfocado al desarrollo y entrenamiento de habilidades como el liderazgo, la audacia, la autonomía, la capacidad resolutiva y el trabajo en equipo. Se creó en 1956 y se ha implantado ya en 180 países. Más de un millón de estudiantes a nivel mundial potencian sus talentos gracias a este programa. Los jóvenes que han participado en él son muy valorados por las universidades más reputadas del mundo y por las grandes compañías multinacionales. Los colegios SEK-El Castillo, SEK-Ciudalcampo y SEK-Catalunya son los tres centros de la Institución SEK que poseen este sello de calidad educativa, y las etapas de Educación Primaria y Educación Secundaria, las etapas en las que se implementa.Las actividades se llevan a cabo al aire libre, pero además el programa incluye expediciones y campamentos donde los alumnos ponen en práctica todo lo aprendido y desarrollan proyectos de servicio comunitario, comunicación, liderazgo, trabajo en equipo y contacto con la naturaleza. ■
SEK-El Castillo, SEK-Ciudalcampo and SEK-Catalunya, at the forefront of education with the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme The prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is an allround personal development scheme focused on the development and training of skills such as leadership, audacity, autonomy, capacity for resolution and teamwork. It was created in 1956 and has already been implemented in 180 countries. Over one million students worldwide enhance their talents thanks to this scheme. The young people taking part in it are highly valued by the most reputable universities in the world and by large multinational companies. SEK-El Castillo, SEK-Ciudalcampo and SEK-Catalunya are the three SEK schools that bear this seal of educational quality for Primary and Secondary students. Activities take place in the outdoors, but the scheme also includes expeditions and camps where students put into practice all they have learnt and carry out community service projects and bolster their communications, leadership and teamwork and enjoy contact with nature. ■
Jóvenes irlandeses realizan una inmersión en la cultura española en SEK-El Castillo El programa TYP (Transition Year Program) ofrece a los alumnos irlandeses de entre 15 y 16 años la oportunidad de visitar cada año el Colegio SEK-El Castillo para completar un periodo de inmersión en el español que puede durar desde tres meses a todo un año escolar. Durante este periodo de transición los alumnos irlandeses pueden dedicar su tiempo a viajar, desarrollar programas solidarios, inmersiones lingüísticas y todo un abanico de opciones que les ayudarán en su futuro. Durante el curso 2018-19, SEK-El Castillo ha contado con un total de 14 alumnos, doce chicas y dos chicos, que se han sumergido en la cultura española y en el aprendizaje del español como lengua extranjera. Además de las clases específicas de español, con una profesora a su total disposición, estos estudiantes siguen el currículo de los distintos itinerarios de cuarto de la ESO, en el que pueden elegir realizarlo completamente en español o en español e inglés. ■
Young Irish people immerse themselves in Spanish culture at SEK-El Castillo The TYP program (Transition Year Programme) offers Irish students between the ages of fifteen and sixteen the opportunity to visit SEK-El Castillo each year to complete a period of immersion in Spanish that can last from three months to a whole school year. During this transition period Irish students can devote their time to travel, solidarity programmes, language immersion and a whole range of options that will help them in their future. During the 2018-19 academic year, SEK-El Castillo has hosted a total of fourteen students, twelve girls and two boys, who have immersed themselves in Spanish culture and in learning Spanish as a foreign language. In addition to the specific Spanish classes, with a teacher of their own, these students follow the curriculum of the different ESO year four syllabuses, in which they can choose a syllabus taught completely in Spanish or in Spanish and English. ■
