since they can give your room enough air especially in those hot summer nights. However, these are not ideal for places with cold climates because they are cannot entirely block the wind from entering the room. Moreover, this type cannot completely keep off rain water. The area inside your room nearest the window might get a bit damp when it’s raining.

Windows are considered as the house’s ‘eyes’. They let you see what is going on outside your house, provide you with a properly-ventilated house by letting in fresh air, create the image of a spacious room, and allows light to enter the house. Imagine a house without windows. It is just like living inside a box! In a house, the bedroom is the place where people can relax and sleep after a long and tiring day. Because of these functions, bedrooms should be well-ventilated or well-insulated, whatever the situation requires. Fortunately, there are many different types of windows to choose from. Here are some of the types that are appropriate for your bedroom. • Double-Hung Windows. These are the traditional types and you can usually find these in old houses. There are two parts for this type—the upper outside sash and the lower inside sash. The upper sash slides down while the lower one slides up. These are very easy to clean because they are removable. Moreover, these are great windows for your child’s bedroom because you can open just the upper part while the lower part is closed. You can also control the amount of air that could enter your bedroom. They can also effectively keep rain water from entering your bedroom. • Jalousie Windows. If you live in a place where the climate is always mild and warm, it is okay to have jalousie windows for your bedroom

• Bay Windows. If you have a nice view that you can see when you lookout your bedroom, it is best to have this type of window. It adds interest to your bedroom because its appearance is unique and stylish. Moreover, this type also provides good ventilation and brings in light from multiple angles. It also makes the room appear larger because it brings in the view from the outside. • Horizontal Slider Windows. These could have one or more immovable glass panels and additional movable panels. The movable panels can be opened horizontally to allow in air. It is also ideal for blocking off cold winds and water from rain. • Casement Windows. This kind allows light and breeze to enter the bedroom. The glass panels are conveniently attached to hinges and can be opened outward fully to let in the cool breeze and warm sunshine. These are very easy to open and close and are also very easy to clean.

Establishing your own home business has its own set of challenges but can be an exciting prospect for the most part. However, you must not neglect the need for setting up a home office where you take care of most your business needs. This will enable you to treat your home business as you normally think of business. To set up a home office that makes working convenient and efficient for you, there are some essential factors that you need to put the home office together. So you’ll need to secure all the necessary equipments and furniture that help to keep your business running smoothly. Before you look into the tinier details of your home office setup stage, you need to work on the basics first. Taking care of these basic items will help you in working out the specifics later. • On which part of the house do you set up your home office? Consider the year-round conditions of that particular area in the house. Make sure that it provides a convenient place for you to attend to business and work essentials.

have decided on an area in your house to setup your home office. Communication tools such as a telephone line and fax machine are essential. When you are doing business, having contact with other business people are vital. One important reminder with your home office is to have a separate phone dedicated for business use, which is separate from your home use. In this modern world, several business professionals also utilize email communication for a more efficient communication system. Hence, you can try creating an email account if you do not already have one. The idea of having more than one medium of communication is to be able to provide the most convenient communication method for your business associates as possible. Home offices are certainly a popular trend today. If you plan on developing your own home office, it’s important to think about what your requirements are before taking on the task!

• Find a quiet place in the house. Setting up your home office away from areas that offer a lot of distraction will help you increase productivity. This is an important consideration if you have young children at home.

E-mail your design questions and photos to designers@ kohon.ca or visit our website at www.kohon.ca.

It is important for you to decide which area of the house you will be setting up your home office. The source of potential distraction is definitely one of the biggest factors that could influence your decision. Some of your other considerations to keep in mind would be if the particular space will allow enough light and air, as well as being away from the source of noise. This will enable you to provide a professional environment dedicated for work. Since you will be spending a maximum amount of your time each day in your home office, make sure it is a place you are comfortable with. If not, then you can spend a substantial amount of time in decorating your home office to make it suitable for working. Office equipment is essential in your home office in order to operate effectively. Therefore, you need to identify what equipment you need to have in your home office for your particular type of business after you

French Door: a touch of beauty Meticulously designed homes are often matched with nothing but a touch of elegance. Incorporating your home with a French door speaks of aesthetic quality both for home owners and the home itself. It adds beauty to small and large homes as the glass invites more light to penetrate into the interior of your home.

The aesthetic quality that goes with this door makes it an excellent choice in the front entryways of your home.

A French door is a work of art characterized by a single solid glass panel or multiple glass panels mounted in a frame for the interior door. Exterior French door is characterized by a double-paned glass frame specially crafted for keeping air and heat inside and weather out. The door is often made of wood materials, while others can be crafted of steel or aluminum. For enhanced door security, a French door comes with a decorative grille, which is embedded in between two panes of glass.

French door, however, is not only ideally placed in patios. It can also be placed in bedrooms or bathrooms as it gives a more inviting atmosphere when swing opened. It comes in two double panels styles: in-swing and out-swing. The In-swing French doors are stylishly hung to open inside a room. The Out-Swing French doors, on the other hand, are hung to open outside a room.

French door glass can be classified into two types, transparent and opaque. Since privacy and security is always the prime issue of having a French door installed, exterior portion is crafted with level three to level five opaque glasses. Interior door may be crafted with a combined transparent and opaque glass. And since it’s considered as a work of art, French doors are available in a wide array of design elements embedded in the glass. Either the interior and exterior door glass may be etched, beveled, textured, or it can simply be crafted smooth.

It is all up to you if you want a French door installed within or outside your home, as long as it can give your home a stylish and contemporary appeal, it will always be an excellent choice. About the Author: Written by Richard Dinae Richard Dinae is an architect, providing information and directories about home improvement Article source: http:// www.isnare.com/?aid=36 1458&ca=Home+Man agement

Gorgeous French doors have been continuously evolving as part of home designing. Its glass windows are the main attraction of a French door. What set it apart from the rest of door types are the florid panels, which comes in a wide array of designs. Few of the choices are the elaborate wood carvings, glazed glass, and even stain glass can also be subject to carvings. The latest folding and sliding French door designs appeal more to home owners and decorators. While majority uses a French door to add a touch of style at home, it is also being used as one way of customizing security features of your home. Accessories, such as door handles can also look great both in the interior and exterior home decor of your home. A French door is often used as an alternative to patio doors as it brightens the interior of your home without using too much electricity for bulbs.

ONE

CALL DOES IT ALL

When Janine Wilson of Home Life Crawford Realty tells you that with one call to her, she can take care of all your real estate needs, sit up and pay attention.

Wilson has taken years to develop every aspect of her real estate business. This year her daughter Danielle has joined her to form a new team with a synergy that other teams can not come close to.

Not only is Danielle a licensed Realtor™ within the

province of Saskatchewan and working with her mother as part of a team, Danielle is a qualified mortgage broker. Both Janine and Danielle work for Crawford Realty, but mom (Janine) is also a sales agent for Crawford homes and has started her own development company Windsor Crossing Developments. To her clients this means that Janine and Danielle have access to both the new and used housing markets regardless of the style of home her clients may be looking for. Danielle as a mortgage broker has access to all financial institutions that offer mortgages. According to her, there is a mortgage out there that has the exact terms that each client may want. It is Danielle’s job to find out what each client needs out of a mortgage and then find the best mortgage for that client. This is just the tip of the iceberg though. Danielle also has to be able to explain the mortgage and all its intricacies to each client in an understandable manner. Both Danielle and her mother, Janine do their very best to make sure everything goes smoothly. Both agents know that buying a house is one of the most stressful things you can do. Buying a house in a strange city adds to that stress. Clients need to rely on Team Wilson to not only help pick the right house in the right area, but to do all the little time consuming things that can lead to frustration and a potential dislike of the new city. Once the Wilsons have found you the house of your dreams and helped you to successfully negotiate the price and other details that go into getting an accepted offer, it is up to the Wilsons to make your life as stress and worry free as possible. The list of people that will be lined up to do the worrying for you is truly impressive.

Page 12

You will already have met the home inspector who not only told you about the current condition of the home you want to by, but provided a work sheet of the repairs that you can expect to do over the next five years or so. After that you will meet a lawyer who will handle the mortgage that Danielle set up for you as well as other legal details in the transfer of the property title to you. If there are any repairs to be done then out comes the list of trades people who the Wilson know they can rely on. Before you move in, the Wilsons also ensure that you know as much about the city and neighborhood as possible. All-Home Services by Home Life, which Crawford Realty is part of, provides each client with an information package geared to individual needs The goal of the “One Call” Team is to make sure that each client, regardless of whether they are buying or selling has a stress free experience. The Wilsons know that by taking care of everything they can, they save their clients time, money and angst. Each of those commodities carries a huge responsibility with it and the Wilsons are proud to be able to shoulder these responsibilities and help their clients become as proud of Regina as they are. Wilson is not afraid to tell everyone that success in real estate is not a part time job. It is hard work, goal setting and remembering that she is selling homes not houses. The human element of treating every client as if they were her mother, father, brother sister or best friend is a major key to her success. The fact that more than half of her business now comes from repeat customers and personal referrals is proof of that. If you are thinking of buying or selling your home now or in the near future, get in touch with the “One Call does it all” team at janinewilson.com or call Janine at 5373200, or Danielle at 536-0027. Janine and Danielle still answer their own phones, unless they are in the office for a brief period of time. FLR

The decisions you make about how to decorate rooms in your home reflect your personal style. Therefore it can be frustrating as well as challenging when you don’t have the layout or the room you need to accomplish something. Don’t settle for less though until you have explored all of your options. It is very easy to add style to your home with a microfiber sectional sofa.

ADDING STYLE WITH YOUR MICROFIBER SECTIONAL SOFA

With a sectional microfiber sofa, you can get the most out of the corners in your rooms too. You can get one that is pointed so that it slides right into that corner area. You can also get one that is rounded which will help to soften up the effect that such a room offers. This is important because you want your family room or your living room to be open and inviting to people. You want them to feel welcome rather than uncomfortable when they step into that part of your house.

You will never regret buying yourself a microfiber sectional sofa. At the same time you will be grateful you choose such a nice looking one. That is because it is going to last you for a very long time. You don’t want to have to look at something you aren’t happy with day after day. Most furniture stores out there should offer you a great selection of microfiber sectional sofas to select from. Make sure you go online too because there will be more styles to choose from that way. You will have a better chance of finding a unique color you need as well. If the microfiber sectional sofa you want is found online, then get information on where you can buy it locally or who is willing to ship it to you free of charge.

A microfiber sectional sofa can also offer you additional room for seating. You want to allow everyone to have a place when they need one. If you have a large family then that space may be taken up on a regular basis already. With a sectional sofa you get the chance to place other items in different locations of the room. For example paintings and even the TV can be seen from the various angles of this piece of furniture.

Your home is your location to make it exactly what you want. You will find that with a microfiber sectional sofa you can get the exact set up you want. Each time you walk into the room you will be pleased. Don’t invest in any other type of sofa until you look at these though. Otherwise there is a good chance you will end up regretting your choice down the road.

You definitely want your home to be as comfortable as possible. There is no question that a microfiber sofa can offer you a great place to relax. At the same time though there is no denying that they will enhance and transform the overall look for any room you choose to place them in. Some of them also come with a sofa bed in them which can give you more sleeping room too so make sure you check those out as well.

spices to the water instead of the fruit; the taste would definitely be worth a try. Regarding the recipe for standing your grilled fruit, the sky is the limit. However, whatever you do, always remember that grilling fruits requires medium heat.

Grilling meat and vegetables is a common thing, but grilling fruits is hardly as common, even though they are great to eat. Grilled fruit makes for a great dessert, and holds itself with great gusto as delicious side dishes or even appetizers. Moreover, no matter how exotic it sounds, it is pretty easy to prepare. But like all other effortless things grilling fruits too require you to fulfill few pre requisites.

Grilling fruits is especially easy because of the composition of the fruit, which mainly consists of water and sugar. Therefore, while you grill it, you reduce the water content, and the sugar converts to caramel thereby condensing the flavors. A little bit of cooking oil and water, and Voila! No sweat lost, for the perfect grill of your favorite fruit. About the Author; Written by Chris McCarthy Article source: http://www.isnare.com/?aid=158341&ca=Fo od+and+Drinks

Grilled fruits are best when they are made with firm fruits like pears, pineapples, apples, etc. These fruits retain almost original shape and quality even after cooking. Unlike tender fruits like plums, peaches and mangos they do not become squashy and soggy even on overcooking. You simply need to cut them into half, de-seed them and leave the peel on. This results in maintaining the shape of the fruit, however big fruits and citruses need to be sliced up for better heat treatment. Now coming down to the actual grilling part, firstly, make sure you have an impeccably clean grill. Also put on some oil or melted butter on the grill to keep the fruits from sticking on to it. Make sure the oil does not have an overpowering smell so that you can add your own flavor by soaking it in a combination of your favorite spices, even liquor, or both. Sprinkle some cinnamon, add some nutmeg and douse it with rum, it will surely make for a sumptuous meal as well as a bright appearance. You could marinade the fruits in some water and add the

Eighteen per cent of Canadians don’t take a lunch break at all. A balanced lifestyle is important to our well-being. Its high-time Canadians bring back the lunch hour. Make the healthy choice and use these tips during your lunch break: • Balance it out: make sure you eat a balanced lunch with vitamins, proteins, and

Origins Of The Sangria Recipe

If you are visiting Spain, be sure to try the sangria recipe at your favourite restaurant or bar. This is a traditional Spanish drink and you will find it served in most bars and restaurants. Recipes vary from place to place, so be sure to try it with a few meals in different locations. The ingredients used in the recipe can also vary according to the food that is being served. Sangria is served throughout the country in the summer. In the northern areas, it is considered a summer drink. In the eastern and southern areas of the country, the drink is served all year round. These areas have a warmer climate and tend to have mild temperatures even in the winter. The strength of the drink varies from place to place. In general, it is stronger in bars and tends to be weaker at dance clubs or discos. Origins of the Sangria Recipe Sangria originated in Spain. The word sangria is the Spanish word for bleeding. The drink gets its name from the red color of the wine used in a traditional sangria recipe. The drink is also made with white wine. This is called sangria blanco. Sangria is basically a mix of wine, juices, soda water and fruit. Any young red wine can be used in a traditional recipe. Good, quality ingredients are important in this drink. Wine is the dominant ingredient, so care is taken to use a good wine. Sangria is often served in one liter pitchers. The pitcher used should have a strainer on the lid. This strains out ice and fruit, keeping them in the pitcher and out of the glass. You can order the beverage by the glass, but it is usually served in pitchers. At parties, it is usually served in a punch bowl. Creating Your Own Sangria Recipe The typical recipe contains red wine, sliced fruit, a sweetener such as honey or sugar and a small amount to triple sec or brandy. A basic recipe is one bottle red wine; two cups clear soda, two cups orange juice, one half cup triple sec and sliced oranges. The type of fruit can vary according to your taste or with the type of food that will be served. White wine can be substituted for red, if you are making

Page 20

sangria blanco. Be sure to use a quality white wine for this variation. Whether or not carbonation is used in the recipe is another common variation of the basic recipe. With any recipe, it’s important to allow time for the liquid to blend with the fruit. This enhances the flavour. To allow time for this, mix all the ingredients except ice and soda. Adjust ingredients in the recipe to suit your tastes. Pour into a pitcher and leave in the refrigerator for several hours or over night. Add soda and ice just before serving. If desired, more fresh fruit can be added just prior to serving the beverage. For parties, pour sangria into a punch bowl. Add ice, soda and more fresh fruit. Add these ingredients just before serving. Serve the beverage just after the final ingredients are added. Try a variety of good quality red and white wines when creating this beverage. Experiment with a variety of fruits, clear sodas and fruit juices to come up with a few different recipes for different occasions. Make a note of each one and keep these notes for future reference. Try a different recipe at each party or to go with different foods you may be serving. All About Cream Cream is something that is often used in cooking. But do you know your creams? Cream is an essential ingredient in the kitchen - rich in flavor with a smooth and velvety texture. Scones wouldn’t taste quite right without a big spoonful of cream. Where would strawberries n cream be without the cream? And a dollop of thick cream on the side always completes a homemade cake. Cream is the fat component of fresh milk. Commercially, the cream is separated from the milk by centrifugal force. Often cream sold commercial has been pasteurised. Pasteurization is the process of heating the cream to kill harmful organisms like viruses, molds, yeasts, protozoa and or course bacteria. Invented by the French scientist Louis Pasteur in 1862, pasteurization does on kill all micro-organisms but reduces their number to a level unlikely to cause disease. The many varieties of cream available on the market today can leave one feeling bewildered and lost. But with a little understanding you won’t be left in the cold isle feeling glazed-eyed any longer. Cream is categorized by the amount of milk fat it contains. This percentage should be clearly stated on the label. Depending on what country you live in the cream will be call different things, but it is the fat content that is important. Half and half cream is a mixture of half cream and half milk with a fat content of between 10.5 and 18%. It is great as a lighter alternative in coffee. Light cream has a fat content of between 18 and 30%. This can be used in cooking and is fantastic in soups and curries. However please be aware that it will not whip.

quiches, pasta sauces or cocktails. Double Cream has 48% plus fat. This cream holds its shape when spooned out of the container. It best not whipped as it tends to separates easily. Thickened cream contains 35% milk fat and also contains thickening agents, such as gelatine or vegetable gum. These are added to stabilise the cream, making it easier to whip and less likely to curdle or separate. Use it whipped in ice-creams, mousses and cheesecakes or as a filling for sponges. Sour cream contains 35% to 38% milk fat. It is cream that has been subjected to a bacterial culture that produces lactic acid. This produces thicker cream with a slightly sour-tasting product. Light sour cream is produced the same way, but it contains only 10% to 18% milk fat and has a thinner consistency. It is more likely to curdle when heated. Use in dressings, casseroles, soups and sauces or on potatoes. Dips are best made with the full-fat variety. Creme fraiche contains 35% to 48% milk fat. It’s thicker and less tart than sour cream, with a slightly nutty flavour. Lactic acid has been added to fresh cream and allowed to mature under controlled conditions, making it more stable (it won’t curdle) than sour cream when heated. Whipping or pouring cream has a fat content of between 30 and 36% fat. In order for the cream to whip well it needs to contain 30 to 36% fat. So this type of cream is ideal for whipping. It has many cooking uses and is great used in gratins,

Dear Readers, I must share with you my dishwasher experience. Last week my dishwasher stopped working right in the middle of a wash. It could not even muster up enough breathe to complete the cycle. After inquiring to the manufacturer, I was told that the dishwasher has been recalled for this exact reason (it just suddenly stops working). The dishwasher was going to be fixed at no charge within three to four weeks. Well, after two days I opened up the dishwasher and the smell punched me in the face and nearly knocked me down. I poured half a bottle of vinegar onto the floor of the dishwasher and sprinkled baking soda on top. The smell is gone and I can now breathe with a smile. King vinegar prevails once again! Dear Reena, How long do flu germs live outside the body? Simon Hello Simon, According to Mayo Clinic the length of time that cold or flu germs can survive outside the body on an environmental surface, such as a doorknob, varies greatly. But the suspected range is from a few seconds to 48 hours — depending on the specific virus and the type of surface. Flu viruses tend to live longer on surfaces than cold viruses do. Also, it’s generally believed that cold and flu viruses live longer on nonporous surfaces — such as plastic, metal or wood — than they do on porous surfaces — such as fabrics, skin or paper. Although cold and flu viruses primarily spread from person-to-person contact, you can also become infected from contact with contaminated surfaces. The best way to avoid becoming infected with a cold or flu is to wash your hands frequently with soap and water or with an alcohol-based sanitizer. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Web site says the H1N1 virus can survive and infect a person for two to eight hours after being left on a surface.

join. Also ivory piano keys are off white instead of stark white. Lastly, ivory has a grain. Modern pianos have plastic keys which does not have any grain. Be careful not to mistake ivory keys with cellulose keys, cellulose also has a grain, but the cellulose grain is more even than ivory. Dear Reena, We have a very old, 102 years, Christening gown made of white cotton and lace which has been in storage for the past seven years. We now find that it has a yellow stain, probably from milk, on the front of the cotton. Because of the age of the gown we were reluctant to tackle the stain without some professional advice. Can you suggest a safe way to remove the stain without harming the fabric please? Thank you! Sharon Hello Sharon, You always want to begin with the mildest solution and use more aggressive solutions only if necessary. With this in mind, make a liquid paste of borax (or washing soda) and water. Cover the milk stain. Leave overnight and rinse in the morning. Keep me posted!

Outstanding Tips of the Week:  I don’t know what I do without nylon net; there are so many uses for it. I tuck it in where I am likely to find spiders (around doors, the space between outside walls and concrete steps). I also secure netting inside heat vents with a rubber band and put netting, between sliding windows that have drainage holes and overtop of open pipes etc. I also fold netting over the blade of my knives to prevent accidental cuts. Great to hear from you Darlene, For general cleaning on plastic or ivory keys, use vinegar and water on a soft cloth. For ivory keys, wipe with non-gel, non-bleach toothpaste on a damp cloth. Ensure that you rub gently and do not scrub. Rinse with fresh milk and buff well. Note: Over time and with repeated cleaning, the yellow on your ivory keys can be significantly reduced. Whitening your ivory piano keys takes a long time and a great deal of patience.

Rose Gardening in the Fall: The 4 Most Important Tasks of Autumn

For me, rose gardening in the fall is a little bitter-sweet! My blooms are smaller, leaves are showing signs of wear and tear and yet the rose gardening I do now will be crucial to the success of next years growth. Lets call it rose gardening insurance. The last rose show is over, the days start getting shorter and the children are back in school but as rose growers we still have work to do—the four most important tasks of fall. PICK AND CLEAN Stop fertilizing and start your clean up. From the beginning of September on, there is no need to fertilize your rose beds and pots because you do not want to encourage new shoots to develop as winter approaches. This is also the period of the highest incidence of mildew problems such as black-spot so it is time to pull away all leaves that show signs of disease and to rake the beds below to remove all traces of the black-spot or mildew spores. Yes, they overwinter so get rid of them with your garbage. Deadhead, keep the beds scrupulously clean and pick away at the damaged leaves. RE-CONSIDER YOUR SPRAY PROGRAM Continue spraying if you want clean leaves and blooms into early fall but put away your spray equipment as your rose bushes begin to go into dormancy. Leaves are beginning to curl and drop, rose hips grow darker in color and no new shoots are developing. These are the signs that your rose bush is slowly moving into the dormant stage and the the “do not disturb ‘till spring” signs are about to go up. If you want to spray with dormancy spray, usually oil and sulfur, wait until December or January when your bushes are fully asleep, otherwise store your spray in a dry, safe place and take a close look at how successful you were this season and whether you could cut down or at least be more aware of the environment. Did your plan work?

Page 28

PRUNING RE-VISITED You should have pruned your old growth roses or any that only bloom but once a year. Your climbers should be pruned to shape now and tied in to train them to grow in the right direction and shape for next season. All other rose bushes are simply cut back to about waist high to stop the wind from causing them to whip around and break off, or worse still, loosen the crown of the bush. Miniatures can be cleaned of wayward shoots or broken stems and given a short haircut. Leave the serious pruning until spring, just be prepared for the winter storms. PLANT OR RE-PLANT FOR THE NEW YEAR Now is the time to plant your bare root roses in preparation for spring growth. It is also a very good time to move roses and to re-plant them. Always plant with good, new soil with compost or manure added, but do not add nitrogen based fertilizers at this time of year. A cup of bone meal would help with root growth. Bare root roses should be soaked in warm water for eight hours before planting to re-constitute them immediately following delivery to your home. Don’t forget to mound up all your rose bushes with soil to protect the crown from winter winds and the possibility of drying out. This protective mound will be slowly removed as the air temperatures warm up in the spring. As you go into winter and your rose bushes go dormant remember that any rose gardening actions taken now will have a great effect on what happens in the spring. Even in the Pacific North-West I have had the occasional rose bloom at Christmas and if you do it should be in a clean rose bed on a bush pruned and mounded up for winter protection. Consider the four important tasks and your rose garden will thank you for it-- next year! About the Author: Written by David LeAche Article Source: http://www.isnare.com/?aid=306934&ca=Gardening

WHERE THE JOBS AND OPPORTUNITIES MEET!!!

Dear Friends ; Less than half a decade ago, Melville ventured down a path of branding itself. At that time, it was to encourage more citizens to call Melville home. Within three years the “Best Kept Secret” branding promotion was so positive that close to five hundred new citizens from all parts of the world moved to Melville and quickly bought up all the available housing units and drained the City of their abundance of empty lots. So now that the City is working hard at improving its infrastructure, we have identified another area of our community that appears to be lagging behind – jobs and business opportunities. A community like Melville cannot always wait for the giants like Canadian National (CN) and Babcock Wilcox (B & W) to lead the way on jobs for the ever increasing work force. And yet, while these large players have done exceedingly well at improving our job market, we know that there are probably more business owners out there who want to locate to a community with as much superb infrastructure and, as well, a family oriented health, education and social fabric to make daily life a delight. However, no different than the days of the gold rush, Melville knows that some encouragement needs to happen to provide balance to its thriving community. While we continue to hear positive news from CN and B&W, we also have been buoyed by the Federal announcement of 110 jobs coming to Melville to partner with the Head Office of Sask. Crop Insurance, under the Agra-Stability Banner. Of course, there is the ever increasing rumbling by Agrium, one of North America’s Potash Giants, that a new mine may be built soon very near our community. All this activity does open the door for more business options in the service industry. Food services, hotels, motels, apartments and retail trade are all opportunities that are available in our fair City. We believe, not unlike many others, that while Melville has just

Page 30

celebrated 100 years of growth, the next 100 years appear even more exciting. Please don’t be afraid to contact the City of Melville or its Economic Development Department for any information necessary to put your dreams for a prosperous business in motion.

Sincerely yours, Micheal G. W. Halyk

101 Fifth Ave. West BAILEY’S FUNERAL HOME SERVING MELVILLE & SURROUNDING AREA’S

The Bailey name has long been associated with funeral services in Melville, every since W. T. (Bill) Bailey was the community’s funeral director during the first half of the twentieth century, starting in 1914. He was later assisted by his son Ray Bailey. It was here that W. Allan Bailey, the founder and president of Bailey’s Funeral Home, was first introduced to the profession, assisting his grandfather and father. In 1983, Allan Bailey opened a Chapel in Melville, bringing the family name back to the community after an absence of about three decades. The Melville Chapel is located at 101 Fifth Avenue West. To ensure that a funeral ceremony is truly a reflection of the life lived, we appreciate the opportunity to explain the options available to you, and the services we provide. We want to ensure that you understand your choices, and have the information you need to make a decision when you are ready.

What to expect from a furnace inspection (NC)–The old adage “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it” should not apply when it comes to your household heating system. Like a car, your furnace is a running machine that needs regular tune-ups to ensure its efficiency and longevity. You wouldn’t wait more than a year to give your car an oil change, so don’t wait until your furnace breaks down to call for service.

A clean, well-adjusted heating system will save you money on fuel and will prolong furnace life. The cost of annual servicing is modest, especially when compared with the price of a new furnace. There is some maintenance that homeowners can undertake themselves, such as the cleaning and replacing of filters. To ensure safe and efficient operation of a heating system, however, homeowners should have their furnace inspected and cleaned annually by a qualified service technician. Homeowners searching for a qualified heating contractor in their area can access a user-friendly website - www. hrai.ca or toll-free at 1-877-467-HRAI.

the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Instituted of Canada (HRAI), a national trade association. Inspections performed by a licensed technician will include the following: • Safety test for carbon monoxide (CO) • Check for hazardous debris in the chimney and flue • Clean air filters and re-install • Check operation of thermostat and safety controls • Check gas pilot safety system and clean as required • Clean motor and fan • Check blower operation • Check condition, tension and alignment of fan belt, and perform required adjustments • Clean burners and set for proper combustion & ignition • Check gas piping to furnace. Investing in the proper maintenance of a home heating system is essential to ensure that it provides reliable and efficient indoor comfort when the outdoor temperature drops. - News Canada

Christmas shopping is no longer confined to the local mall or an annual catalog that happens to find it’s way into your mailbox. Thanks to advanced technology, there is literally a whole world of shopping at your fingertips. The internet has revolutionized the way people shop and, besides, what better way to do your Christmas shopping than from the comfort of your own home. No longer must we suit up and weather the harsh winter days in the hopes of checking a few names off of our Christmas list. The store aisles, as we know them, are crowded and hectic. But now, many store aisles are becoming virtual, a shopping cart is something you fill with images of a product and a checkout is something that you click on to confirm your order. Things have changed a lot in the past years and I wonder how many of us couldn’t even imagine what life would be like without the convenience of shopping on the internet. There are several tips for online Christmas shopping, which can make the experience a smooth and pleasant one. Online Christmas Shopping Tip #1: Be prepared It’s a good idea to start your shopping with a complete list. This will save you both time and money with having to go back and place a separate order later on. With most online stores, you pay a flat shipping fee. In some cases, if you spend a certain amount of money on your order, the shipping and handling fee is waived. It’s always best to get everything you want, all at once, to save on shipping. Before you commit to buying from one store, shop around and compare prices on both the product and shipping. Online Christmas Shopping Tip #2: The early bird gets the gift If you want to get the best selection, begin your holiday shopping early. Internet stores generally carry large quantities of every item, but even they can sell out. As Christmas draws near, it becomes more difficult to find the exact item that you’re looking for. There’s nothing like finding the perfect item and seeing the words, ‘Sold Out’ written under the price.

the holidays. If you need to save some time on wrapping, most online stores offer a gift wrapping service for a small fee. At some point during the ordering process, you may be asked if you would like to add gift wrap or a name tag. It’s as easy as the click of a button, which is much easier than trying to tie the perfect bow. Online Christmas Shopping Tip #5: Check Delivery Dates When placing your order, check to make sure that the item is in stock or will be delivered in time for Christmas. Many times, especially near the holidays, items will go on a backorder status. It’s not uncommon for an advanced order item to have a delivery date of January, so be sure to check the status of the items in your shopping cart, along with their expected delivery dates. Not only that, but it’s also a good idea to check on the company’s shipping policy and delivery time for in-stock items. Online Christmas Shopping Tip #6: Christmas Cards? With all the stuff going on in December it’s easy to forget to send out Christmas cards to family and friends. But if you forget to send traditional Christmas cards in time all is not lost. In fact, there are some great sites and services online that will send your christmas cards out for you (saving you precious time). You can find services that are both free and paid, and services that send both digital and tradition paper Christmas cards. About the Author: Written by John Morris For some great Christmas card related resources check out http://cards.christmashub.com Article Source: http://www.freearticles.co.za/family/holidays/6-great-onlinechristmas-shopping-tips.html

Online Christmas Shopping Tip #3: Shop Safe When ordering anything online, check product reviews if available. Always shop secured websites because you will be entering your credit card, or banking information, for payment. You don’t want your financial information accessed by anyone else, which is why all secured websites let you know how they protect your data. Online Christmas Shopping Tip #4: Wrap it up If you’re like most, there’s not a lot of extra time around Page 42

Night photos can take on a somewhat magical quality you may find lacking in normal daytime photography. Amazing night pictures certainly can attract attention. As the sun goes down, however, it becomes harder to capture images without the proper equipment and techniques. Thus, as was mentioned in Part I of this series, taking incredible nighttime photographs requires a lot of planning. When your digital camera receives less light, it cannot absorb the surroundings as well in the resulting photographs. Some pictures may turn out too dark. Others can be too blurry. Your camera requires more time to absorb enough light to create an effective picture, so any shaking of the device will result in photographs lacking sharpness. To compensate for the lack of lighting, here are several things you can do with most middle and high-end digital cameras to get the results you need. Part III of this series will continue with even more expert ideas. * You may think that professional photographers take a large amount of time to set up a shot, perform complex calculations, talk about all sorts of topics such as f-stops, shoot one photograph that accurately represents their interpretation of a particular scene, and then leave. While most of this may be true, the last part - only taking one photo - is far from it. Many, if not most, professional photographers commonly take a multitude of shots for every subject! Traditional photographers can go through rolls and rolls of film on a single shoot, and digital photographers may use gigabytes of memory.

have a particular subject you want to reproduce in digital form, don’t rely on taking ‘the one perfect shot’, but take several photographs in case problems occur with the lighting, or lack thereof. Remember, you’re shooting digitally, which means you can later throw out all the bad photos in your camera’s virtual ‘trash can’, and no one ever needs to know! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done this, especially when taking late-night shots of the Chicago cityscape in places I couldn’t bring a tripod. I may shoot hundreds of shots and only keep a few dozen. * If your digital camera has a special nighttime mode, study your manual and learn how to enable this feature. Perhaps your camera has a button or dial next to a graphic of a half-moon to signify this setting. This works well for some late-night situations. * Forget about using the flash unless you purchase a high-quality accessory flash unit. Flash shoots a burst of light out of your camera and works most effectively when your subject is within a few feet. If your subject is a long way away, your small flash unit will never reach it effectively. Nighttime photography requires a little extra work out of you and your digital camera. To prevent against mistakes and increase the chance of a spectacular shot, it may be necessary to take the same picture multiple times, adjusting your camera settings slightly to help ensure at least one picture will come out well. The digital camera manual must be studied, as many high-end cameras contain automatic features to help take better photos. And, a natural tendency most people have to use flash must be avoided. By heeding this advice, you can learn to take spectacular nighttime photos. Look forward to article III in this series in the near future! Professionals know that no matter how well everything has been factored in when setting up a shot, ‘stuff happens’. It is better to take time shooting a particular subject ten times and get one outstanding photograph than to take one or two photos that turn out blurry or dull. Most photographers perform a trick called bracketing, where they intentionally adjust their camera settings in small increments in case their calculations were not precisely correct. Heed this advice when taking photographs at night. If you

Small steps in the laundry room can help reduce your impact on the environment

(NC)—With new ‘green’ products launching all the time, a recent survey shows that Canadians are facing some confusion about how to make their laundry habits more sustainable. The Leger survey, sponsored by Tide Canada, revealed that nine in ten Canadians said it’s very important to them to use an environmentally-friendly detergent. However, when asked to identify what makes a laundry detergent “environmentallyfriendly,” most respondents (33%) chose “phosphate-free.”

“What might be surprising to consumers is that most laundry products sold in Canada are phosphate-free and have been for several years,” says Robert Pettifer, product researcher, Procter & Gamble. As environmental awareness has increased, consumers have become bombarded with green messaging, some of which is confusing. In addition to suggesting phosphate-free products, survey respondents also selected biodegradable (26%) and natural/organic (14%) to round out the top three things that make a laundry detergent more environmentally-friendly. Consumer confusion may stem from an overuse of the word “green” in product names. Almost two thirds of Canadians surveyed (64%) believe that laundry products with ‘green’ in the name are more environmentallyfriendly but there are many factors to take into account such as the size of the packaging, if the container is recyclable, how much energy is used in shipping and manufacturing, or if it is compatible with energy-saving appliances.

Page 44

According to Pettifer, when it comes to laundry behaviour, the ability to make a difference is in the hands of the consumer. “Two of the best things you can do when washing your clothes is to wash in cold water and use a high-efficiency machine,” he says. Pettifer stresses that these are small changes, like switching to compact fluorescent light bulbs or using cloth grocery bags: “The changes are easy to incorporate into our lives because they involve something you would be doing anyway,” he maintains. Canadians have embraced cold-water washing, with 82 per cent agreeing that washing in cold water can be just as effective as washing in warm or hot water. However, while 30 per cent of the respondents currently use a high-efficiency washing machine, only slightly over half are aware that they need to use a specially-formulated detergent for best results. Making the switch to cold water can save 50 per cent of the energy in every load and using a high-efficiency machine can deliver even more savings in water. “Most of the energy used to wash your clothes goes to heating the water,” says Pettifer. “Switching to cold-water washing is an easy way to make a difference while still getting great cleaning results.” - News Canada

and yes there is a difference While there should not be any confusion between a true rat rod and a hot rod there seems to be many who are getting them mixed up. Within the hot rod crowd even mentioning the word RAT in their circle is a big no no for many reasons but mostly because the hot rodder group tend to have a higher end taste than most rat rodders do in general. A ratrod in general has many qualities that are exactly opposite of what a true hotrod should have and many works in progress tend to be generalized as a rat car or rat truck for one reason or another. You can tell for the most part the subtle differences between a work in progress muscle car styled hot rod versus rat rods and it lies mainly in the details of the work. No matter which scene you might be in or thinking of joining there will always be those who dislike another style of rod just like those who have an issue with ford or chevy. In the scene many people will brand their identity to the make, model or style of their ride and those who trash talk others are mainly doing it out of fear, embarrassment or their own insecurities

Issue #45- Nov. 12/09

and nothing more. Throwing around the rat rod word in a hot rodders backyard can end up in an arguement even though we all can agree with how childish that may seem but to those who take their cars, their scene and their rods seriously, it is a big deal and you should at least be aware of what words come out of your mouth and when. You can search for both rod types whether rat or hot through any search engine and don’t forget to do an image search as well. See how many you know as a true rat or if it is a project vehicle on its way into the hot rod hall of fame. Don’t let price fool you because you can drop a decent amount in either scene depending on what frame and model you start with as well as what stage of completion the ride is in. Who is behind the wheel – your cell phone or you? By Gillian Birch

(NC)—As Canadians rely more and more on cell phones to stay connected, government agencies are switching gears to consider banning the use of cellular devices on the road. New legislation was recently introduced in Ontario mandating that drivers switch off behind the wheel. And with bans already in place in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and Quebec, the rest of Canada will not be far behind.

A study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that talking on a cell phone while driving increased the risk of motor vehicle crashes by four times. While the study easily underlines theimportance of driving safely, the bans could also help drivers save money. The cost of the insurance premium with an at-fault crash on your record could be thousands per year, depending on your previous driving record and the accident details. Add to this that fines for using your phone while driving are well over $100, and the case for not chatting while driving is clear. “The cell phone bans not only result in safer drivers, but they will help make insurance more affordable,” says Mauro Convertini insurance and claims expert for Aviva Canada. “Drivers can transition into the new laws by taking some simple precautions.”

Page 48

Convertini recommends: • Switch off: Turn off your phone before you get in the car, reducing temptation to answer a ring or message. Remember, callers will leave a message or call back if it is important. • Extra set of hands: Enlist the help of a passenger to take or make a call for you. Or, if you are expecting an important call, let someone else drive. • Pull over: If you have to make or receive a call, look for a safe opportunity to pull over and park. A highway shoulder is not a safe place. More information on safe driving and tips to lower your insurance rates can be found online at www.changeinsurance.ca or toll-free at 1-866My Aviva (692-8482). EcoDriving:

What is it and what’s in it for you?

(NC)—By changing your driving habits, even a little, you could save hundreds of dollars a year in fuel and help reduce your carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. The way to do this is to start EcoDriving, a safe way of driving that produces the lowest fuel consumption from every vehicle, regardless of vehicle size and age. Here are some tips to get you started:

• Accelerate gently - Every time you put your foot on the gas pedal, you feed fuel to your engine - the harder you apply the gas, the more fuel your engine uses and the more emissions your car produces. Pretend you have an egg or water balloon beneath your foot to keep things light; • Maintain a steady speed and stick to the speed limit - It’s tempting to speed on the highway but by reducing your speed from 120 km/hour to 100 km/hour you can lower your fuel consumption by about 20 per cent; • Anticipate traffic flow - Try to gauge the flow of traffic and keep a buffer zone between you and the drivers in front of you and drive at a consistent speed as speed fluctuations use more fuel;

Page 52

• Coast to decelerate - Coasting to a stop is like getting a free ride. When you notice that traffic ahead is slowing or stopped, remove your foot from the accelerator as soon as possible and coast to a stop — your car uses little or no fuel when coasting. • For the average driver, EcoDriving can result in a 25 per cent reduction in fuel costs or roughly $500 a year - $2,500 over five years. Not only does EcoDriving save fuel, but it also reduces maintenance costs. During a recent EcoDriving challenge, drivers reduced brake usage by over 33 per cent. By applying EcoDriving skills, drivers can save fuel, reduce maintenance costs, and reduce the impact of their driving on the environment. Creative Ways To Save On Gas I’m sure if you’re reading this article, you drive a car and chances are you’re filling up with gas unless you’ve found some miraculous way to drive your car via another way. Regardless of how you get around, everyone loves to save money and when you see gas prices consistently rising to prices you don’t like to see, you can find creative ways to save on gas. So, instead of crying the next time gas hits four dollars a gallon, you can be jumping for joy when you save money unlike your friends. Now, I’m here today to show you a few ways on how you can save on gas. Some of these tips you may want to implement and if some sound like they’d be too much work, that’s fine but remember this will all be time well spent and just think of all the money you’ll save in the future as well. Switch your oils – Studies have shown that if you switch your current oil to synthetic oil, this can help reduce your gas mileage by just a little bit. Even if it is a little bit, remember that every little mile counts. The reason why synthetic oil works so well is because it reduces the engine friction leaving you with better gas mileage. Look at window films – If you live in a southern climate, you may find yourself using the air conditioner a lot. I’m sure you know by now that the air conditioner uses more gas. This means that if you can cut back on your air conditioning habits, you can reduce your gas bill. A great way to look into saving on your air conditioning is by investing in window films. These are simple films that wrap around the window making the inside of the car about ten to twenty degrees cooler than the outside. If you can reduce the temperature inside, this will lessen the chance of using your air.

your next fill up. Remember, it’s also important that you drive responsibly and not drive to places you don’t need to go to. Plan your day accordingly and you should be as frugal as they come when it comes to gas. About the Author: Written by Tom Tessin Article source: http://www.isnare.com/?aid=248804&ca=Automotive

Secure your gas cap – This may sound really silly but every time you fill up, make sure that you secure your gas cap. A good way of making sure your gas cap is secure is by turning it until it clicks three times. If you fail to do this, it can cause gas to vaporize into the air. This will be gas wasted that you could have used. The next time you fill up, make sure you secure the cap! Lock your gas cap – This one won’t really save you on gas mileage but it can prevent theft. If you grab a gas lock for your tank, it will prevent thieves from stealing your gas. If a thieve sees a gas lock, he/she will most likely move onto the next target. To avoid something like this, simply go to your local auto parts store and look for one that fits your car model. You won’t want to wake up one morning and find your gas is all gone. These are all just a few ways you can get better gas mileage and save on

Retro Cruiser 1949 BUICK The 1949 Buick was the first all new design since the end of World War II. With the sleeker and more graceful Buick than the 1946-47s, sales soared. Most interesting was the Buick Riviera with its new "hardtop convertible" configuration. Also introduced in 1949 was Buick's "VentiPorts": four on the front fenders of Roadmaster models and three ports on the others. VentiPorts would become a Buick trademark for years to come. Taillights were moved to the top edge of the rear fenders. With the focus on design, the mechanicals remained basically the same, with modest horsepower improvements to the engines.

When Ford decided to redesign the Mustang, they opted to incorporate a retro look, much like what was done previously with the Thunderbird. Fortunately, Ford didn’t look at the ghastly Mustang II series from the 1970s for a template, instead the US automaker drew upon the second generation Mustangs of the late 1960s for their inspiration. Let’s just say that the redesigned Mustang has been nothing short of a sell out hit. Introduced as a 2005 model, the retro Mustang for 2006 offers only one change: the introduction of a Pony package which is meant to give the car a GT look and feel. Borrowing from the fastback design of the late 1960s, the 2005 model was such a hit that Ford could not keep up with production. Buyers have a choice between a 4.0L V6 and a 4.6L V8 engine to power the car. With 2+2 seating, 107 inch wheelbase, and a curb weight of just under 3500 pounds, the car cruises down the highway with 210 and 300 horses respectively. Each engine is mated with a 5 speed manual transmission and a 5 speed automatic transmission is optional for both. 4 wheel disc brakes and optional traction control [standard with the V8] help keep the Mustang under control.

Cloth bucket seats are standard with leather seats optional. All models come with tilt steering wheel, cruise control, power locks and windows, power side mirrors, and air conditioning. First year sales of the Mustang were so good that the car sold out by early Spring. In fact, the Mustang dethroned the Chrysler 300 as the hottest car on the market with more than 15,000 Mustangs sold per month. All of this production is from just one factory. Production for 2006 is certain to be tight and with little incentives available – they certainly aren’t needed – the Mustang is likely to continue to have a long waiting list of customers desiring the sporty coupe. Considering that sales across the Ford division are flat, this is good news for an automaker desperately needing a hot seller. efore you buy a trailer, it is important to choose what material you’d like the trailer to be made of. Two common options are steel trailers or aluminum trailers. If you like the idea of a lightweight, attractive, and rust free trailer, then aluminum trailers are the way to go! Admittedly, there are quality trailers made with either material. Some people choose steel because they are less expensive. However, a lower price tag does not mean you will be getting the most for your money. Never settle for a steel trailer simply because of a lower price tag. Buying a trailer is a commitment, so you need to base your decision on more than price alone. Steel trailers are usually a less expensive option, but they are certainly not better. Many people have found that steel trailers rust quite easily. After dealing with their frustrating steel trailer, they end up having to buy aluminum trailers later on anyway! They’ve now spent much more money than they would have it they had just bought aluminum trailers to begin with. Other people do not make this mistake and know the benefits of aluminum. Be careful though! Some manufacturers cut costs on their aluminum trailers and make them cheaply. Then people end up buying cheap aluminum trailers that give the industry a bad name. All trailers are not all created equal! In this case, you will most likely get what you paid for. Another benefit of high quality aluminum trailers is that they are lightweight. This can be important if your vehicle cannot support the very high weight of steel. Even though aluminum trailers are much lighter, some people still buy steel trailers. This can be a big mistake as some steel trailers end up rusting and eating away at your investment. We all want our trailer to look the best, and only aluminum trailers offer the sleek, rust free look you want. If you want to impress people with your purchase, aluminum trailers are the way to go. Nothing is more embarrassing than putting your cargo in what looks like a rusty piece of junk. You never have to worry about that with high quality aluminum trailers.

Page 70

Call Compass at 1.888.717.6655 Save up your money to get the highest quality aluminum trailers. These offer maximum strength and give you more of what you need. This is very important when you want to protect your precious cargo. High quality aluminum trailers also have a track record of longevity. There is no danger of {buying|purchasing}}} aluminum trailers only to have them fail a short time later. You can depend on aluminum trailers to get the job done and get it done right. It is important to note that you should never settle for cheap aluminum. Some manufactures will try to fool you into buying an inexpensive product. These aluminum trailers simply do not stand the test of time. Aluminum trailers are the best choice for your trailer needs. They are {durable|strong}}} to protect your cargo and your investment. They look great and will give a positive lasting impression to others. Aluminum trailers will serve your needs for years and years to come. THE OLDEST MOTORCYCLE NAMES Live On

Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson have survived the test of time and have maintained loyal legions of fans. HARLEY DAVIDSON This classic series of motorcycles has a long and storied history with a legion of fans that includes owners, motorcycle enthusiasts, old and young alike. Distinguished by its style, unique engine sound and fan loyalty, Harley Davidson motorcycles are unlike any bikes ever produced. From modest beginnings in 1901, Harley Davidson Incorporated was the brainchild of William Harley who had developed a small, powerful engine. Like many engine manufacturers of the era, these engines were intended for use with existing bicycle designs, combining motorized power with pedal power. From a small shop in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Harley and his partner, Arthur Davidson embarked on a journey that would revolutionize the world of motorized transportation. 1903 saw the introduction of its first production motorcycle. The early Harley-Davidson bikes were popular as race machines. By the end of the decade, Harley Davidson was selling a version if its bikes for use as police vehicles. Shortly thereafter, The Company introduced a 45 degree V-twin engine design that would represent a style synonymous with Harley-Davidson for years to come. The post-war years saw a rapid expansion in production, along with some ownership bumps in the road. The mid 1980s saw ownership shift from AMF to a group comprised of Harley Davidson management. The Company went public on the New York Stock Exchange in 1987. The rest, as they say, is history.

The most endearing product introduction by Royal Enfield has to be the Bullet. With a single cylinder, four stroke engine, the 1933 Bullet sported a dramatic front to rear rake making for truly classic line. World War II brought a one of a kind bike from Enfield, the Flying Flea. Complete with its own parachute and packing cage, the Flying Flea could be dropped from an aircraft along with the troops provided a means of motorized battlefield transport not previously available. The Royal Enfield line even included a version of the famous red painted Indian motorcycles, after the company acquired the brand name rights. The RE Indians were discontinued in the 1960s. Intense competition from Japanese motorcycle producers during the 1960s and 1970s meant the Royal Enfield needed bikes that could match the speed and performance of the Asian bikes. The answer was the Interceptor line of extremely fast motorcycles, with a top speed of over 105 miles per hour and able to cover the quarter mile in les than 14 seconds. Sadly, production could not keep up with demand, and the Interceptor became the last of the Enfield line to be produced in England. Royal Enfield motorcycles are still produced in India and exported worldwide, including to the United Kingdom and to the United States. The famous Bullet bikes still anchor this legendary line of motorcycles with versions which includes the 500 cubic centimeter Elektra X. About the Author: written by Mitch Endick

The big V twin engine configurations were reflected in many subsequent designs including the F Head, Flathead, Knucklehead, Panhead and Shovelhead, all exceeding 1000 cubic centimeters in displacement. The smaller Vtwin designs reflected a smaller displacement under 1000 cubic centimeters until the introduction of the Evolution and Ironhead series of engines and are found on the Sportster X series bikes. The V Rod, introduced in 2002, incorporates a liquid cooled 1130 cubic centimeter super bike engine. The VRSC models are unique in both style and performance from all of its predecessors. The 60 degree V twin engine features fuel injection and was developed with the help of Porsche. Even the Harley Davidson logo has created incredible marketing potential with after market merchandise and accessory sales accounting for up to 5 percent of the Companys revenue. The distinctive HD eagle reflects the respect Harley Davidson enjoys from competitors and motorcycle fans. ROYAL ENFIELD The pride of British manufacturing companies, Royal Enfield has established a reputation that dates back to the mid 1800s. Like many early manufacturers of personal transportation, founder George Townsend focus on producing parts for existing bicycle designs, and by 1893 was producing and selling complete bicycles under the Enfield name. It was not long before Townsend turned the name Enfield and its slogan built like a gun into household words across Great Britain.

Different Colors of Ferrets Have you always wondered about all the different colors of ferrets? Well this informative article will cover any questions you might have about this broad topic and probably many more. There so many colors of ferrets these days, how do you know which one is right for you? Well firstly, let’s start with a brief introduction to why there are so many colors of ferrets. The ferret is a small fury animal which is commonly found in homes around North America as a lovable and friendly pet. Originally there were only limited varieties and colors to choose from, but now, thanks to cross breeding between different types of ferrets, there is a vast array of colors and breeds of ferret. The variety of colors is an amazing thing for those out looking to adopt a ferret as a new member of their family. With so many different colors of ferrets available there is surely one to suit everyone’s taste, they can even match the curtains! There are basically four different colors as far as fur coloration goes. There is The Sable, (including chocolate and dark) Albino, Dark Eyed

White (DEW), and the silver, everything else you can think of should fall into one of these categories. With so many different colors of ferrets, it is common to have several colors in each ferret, this is where the color combinations come in. Some of the more intriguing patterns are the badger, the panda and cinnamon, but there are many more, each with its own desirable qualities, which makes it hard to choose just one ferret for inclusion in your family. Along with the many different colors of ferrets fur, there is also many different variations in nose coloring, there is only a small variety compared to fur but still something to think about when choosing a companion. The common colors are pink, brown, black, splotched and t-outline noses. Although this doesn’t seem like a big thing, it can make all the difference, because this is going to be something that will bring you a lot of joy and companionship in the future, so you want it to be the right one for you. So basically, with all these different colors of ferrets, you should just pick whatever suits your personality and lifestyle the best. It is totally up to the owner for the final decision, no color is better than another, everyone’s ferret is perfect in their own eyes. Happy ferret hunting! 1001A Osler St (Corner of 4th & Osler) Regina,Sk. There are many different kinds of augers used for ice fishing, and they are available at widely varying prices. A hand auger is the most basic type of ice fishing auger. Hand augers consist of a handle affixed to a screw that is typically several feet long to penetrate thick ice. It can take considerable energy and time to drill a hole in the ice with a hand auger. A hand auger, however, is far lighter and more portable than a motorized ice fishing auger. Using a hand auger to manually cut through ice many times over the course of a long day of fishing can quickly grow tiresome. This is especially true in the depths of winter, when the ice covering a lake can be several feet thick. Motorized, gas-powered augers solve this problem. They are able to quickly and easily cut clean holes in the ice, preventing exhaustion and allowing fishermen to drill more holes and stay out on the ice for more time. Motorized augers, though, are significantly heavier than hand augers and can be much more difficult to transport without motorized transportation. A fisherman will consider other factors when choosing his ice fishing auger as well. One important consideration is the size of the hole to be drilled. Some augers drill holes as small as four inches (about 10 cm.) and are ideal for fishing for panfish. Other augers drill holes as large as ten inches (about 25 cm.), which are good for catching larger fish such as pike. Smaller holes tend to be easier to drill than larger holes. Many ice fishermen will drill several holes at a time so that they can have several lines in the water at any given time.
