MATAWAN-ABERDEEN EDUCATION FOUNDATION hosted a “Paint and Party” Night at Bright Zebra Art Studio in Aberdeen on October 2, 2015. Due to the overwhelming interest, the Foundation added a second night which was held on October 9, 2015. Between both nights, there were over 80 guests on the event list, including Matawan Mayor Paul Buccellato and Aberdeen Mayor Fred Tagliarini. Attendees received a canvas, all the painting supplies, and instruction from the Studio in order to create their own masterpiece. Fruit, cheese and crackers were served. “This was our first fundraiser since taking on the various positions within the Matawan-Aberdeen Education Foundation four months ago,” said President Keiko Gendi. “All of the original members retired and they have passed the baton on to us.” The new Foundation members include Vice President Joy Walters; Treasurer Lynn Nelson; Secretary Linda Jordan; Trustee Jeanie Kelahan. The new Superintendent of Schools is Dr. Joseph G. Majka. President Gendi thought this type of fundraiser would be something different and would give mothers a fun night out. “I am very proud of the work the ladies and I have accomplished in such a short time. We are very committed to help provide the best educational experiences for our district! With the community’s help, I am sure that this will be a very rewarding year for our students as well as the Foundation.”
