“I have experienced how serious it is for people when they are denied access to adequate healthcare. In the Swiss TPH Health Care and Management course, I learned how factors such as the social background of the patient and environmental influences affect health. In addition, I appreciated the help that was offered in developing my own professional career.” Yejide Okungbaye, Diploma of Advanced Studies in Health Care and Management, Medical Doctor from Nigeria

Where Are Our Graduates Now? Many of our graduates work in different parts of the world to improve the health of local communities. The Swiss TPH alumni network is a diverse community of graduates who are making a sustainable impact on health systems worldwide, creating a truly global network of change makers. Through this network, current and former students have the opportunity to stay connected with their colleagues and the institute, fostering partnerships and collaborations. “I started working at Swiss TPH as a master’s student and was fortunate to stay with the team, first as a scientific collaborator and later as a PhD student. I particularly enjoyed working in the new laboratories on the discovery of antimalarial drugs. Collaborating with national and international partners expanded my perspective and ensured that my research creates a positive impact in countries affected by malaria.” → Annabelle Walz, MSc Infection Biology and PhD Microbiology | Postdoctoral Scientific Collaborator at Swiss TPH

“In my daily role, the most frequent question is: ‘What is the evidence or data before we make a decision?’ as a minister, you are expected to make big decisions that impact people’s lives. It is extremely important to have the best evidence and facts in hand before making decisions and approving new policies and strategies. The PhD training provides such thinking. Epidemiology in particular.” → Sabin Nsanzimana, PhD in Epidemiology | Minister of Health in Rwanda
