THE ROTATOR CUFF

Live better, feel better, be your best self.

Sharon Green, CPT (248) 730-6006 greenfit613@gmail.com

Personal trainer, group fitness, and senior fitness specialist.

The rotator cuff is an important group of muscles that often is overlooked when it comes to strengthening. Their main job is to stabilize shoulder and help with smooth, controlled motion. The best way to avoid a rotator cuff injury is:

• Strengthen your rotator cuff and postural muscles.

• Keep your thoracic spine (upper back) mobile.

• Don’t skip warm-ups or cooldowns.

• Avoid repetitive overhead activities without proper conditioning.

A beneficial exercise for the rotator cuff is the Side-Lying External Rotation with Dumbbell Exercise:

Lie on one side, place a towel roll between elbow and ribs, elbows bent to 90 degrees holding dumbbell (or water bottle) such that fist is towards the floor:

Maintain chin tuck, blades set and core set. While elbow hugs the towel roll, rotate arm towards the ceiling. SLOWLY return to start.

AIR FRYERJELLY DONUTS

INGREDIENTS: DIRECTIONS:

¾ cup milk

¼ cup sugar

2 tsp active dry yeast

2 cups all-purpose flour

3 Tbsp oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

½ cup powdered sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

½ cup jam - raspberry or other flavor

Chanukah

Linkingour^tabletoyours

Warm up the milk, put it in a bowl, and add sugar and yeast. Mix well and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then mix in the flour, oil, and vanilla extract.

On a lightly floured surface, knead the mixture to form a soft dough. Cover and let it rest for at least 2 hours, or until the dough has doubled in size.

Transfer the dough to a floured surface, roll out to around 1-inch in thickness, and cut using a 1 ½ -2 inch round cookie cutter. Place on a parchment paper lined tray, cover, and allow to rest for 40 minutes.

Preheat the air fryer to 350°. Combine the powdered sugar and cinnamon on a plate and set it aside.

Line the basket with parchment paper, add the donuts and spritz with oil. Air fry for 5 minutes, then gently turn over and cook for another 5 minutes, or until golden brown.

When done, roll the warm donuts in the sugar-cinnamon mixture, then spoon jam into a piping bag, insert a chopstick into each donut to create space for the filling and pipe the jam inside each donut.
