sophistication and demand from our clients in Satu Mare regarding data acquisition to aid decision-making is high. To meet these expectations, CJR Renewables has made available its innovative solution, including the PV SCADA system and the Power Plant Controller (PPC), ensuring

adherence to these requirements. The negotiation process flowed smoothly, even considering the need to audit the Romanian electrical grid code, leading to results that fully satisfied both parties involved. This experience further enriched our ability to operate effectively in multicultural environments.

It is with great pride that I share a significant milestone in our history: In 2025, we will take a bold step by launching our first project on African soil. Cape Verde will be the setting for our debut on the continent, with the installation of three wind

turbines for our client Vestas. For the current year, we are equally excited about expanding our footprint to Greece, marking this territory as another chapter in our journey of global growth. Additionally, we return to the Netherlands, where we

implemented our last project five years ago with Nordex. The years 2024 and 2025 are shaping up to be key periods of exploration: a way of being that defines us [WTG Installation], since our inception.

that there are eyes turned and concerned about people, and this is very important given the adversities caused by the current technological challenge.

Why do you think we were chosen for the "Best Place to Work" award?

How does this achievement influence your vision and your plans for the future in the company?

How did you feel when you found out that our company won the "Best Place to Work" award?

I felt proud to be part of this organization and to be able to enjoy this achievement.

How did you start your career at the company? (who hired you, for what, what were the tasks, etc.)

My journey at CJR Renewables began in January 2020 when I joined the Corporative QHSE Department, assuming the role of System Manager. I took on responsibilities as the head of the Integrated Management System (Quality, Safety, and Environment), closely collaborating not only with the Department Manager (Anabela Ribeiro) but also with other Departments and QHSE Managers. Essentially, the work carried out involved reviewing, adapting, and improving the entire Integrated Management System, allowing the company to have a clearer organization and more structured processes. In the same year, the company decided to invest in a platform for the digitalization of various QHSE processes, and I had the

who hold corporate positions. On the other hand, the implementation of the Integrated Management System in a transversal way is a fundamental tool in standardizing practices and procedures, so I also feel that my contribution is important in this area.

How did you overcome these challenges?

With the help of everyone and teamwork, naturally. I don't forget the message that was left at the 1st Annual Meeting I attended in February 2020: "Together we are stronger." But also with a lot of effort, dedication, and a sense of commitment, which is essential to achieve our goals.

opportunity to participate from the very beginning in the development and implementation of this platform - System Way.

What were the main challenges you faced throughout your career at the company?

I believe that one of the main challenges was the geographical dispersion of the company and the need to develop a transversal system, in different languages, with its own cultures and specificities. Additionally, after 2 months of my integration into the company (March/2020), the world, and all of us, in our professional and personal lives, faced enormous challenges (COVID19 Pandemic), which was also a milestone in my journey. "Thinking globally and acting locally" is undoubtedly a constant challenge and learning experience for those

What were the main milestones of your career at the company?

As I mentioned earlier, shortly after joining the company, many challenges arose, including adapting to a "new reality." Specifically, in the scope of my work, I highlight the development and implementation, very timely, of various tools focused on standardizing and streamlining processes:

// Transition from "Server" to "Sharepoint" - implementation of the intranet, which I had the opportunity to follow, and which allowed me to have a new approach;

// Creation of the IMS (Integrated Management System) page on the intranet, which since 2020 has been a fundamental basis of our Management System (Quality, Safety, and Environment);

Way platform - which allowed the digitalization of various processes and which since 2021, has been an essential tool for the maintenance and improvement of the Management System. Another very relevant aspect was, and continues to be, the work carried out continuously with the "Process Owners," allowing comprehensive knowledge of the organization.

How did the company support your professional growth? (What changed with the job change? What do you do now?)

Essentially, the big change lies in greater professional autonomy and focusing more on the Quality Management aspect.

What are the main skills and qualities that you believe contributed to your success in the company?

In addition to what I have already mentioned, which I consider decisive for overcoming challenges (effort, dedication, and commitment), highlighting teamwork, knowledge, proactivity, and rigor, which are also decisive characteristics for growth within the organization.

What are your short and long-term career goals at the company?

In the short term, to consolidate my role in the organization and to reciprocate the trust of the Management with my performance. In the long term, to contribute to the evolution and recognition, in line with the

company's Vision: "To be recognized as leaders of excellence in everything we do, through a focus on innovation and continuous improvement."

What advice would you give to someone starting their career at the company?

Assimilate and integrate the company's Values: Excellence, Honesty, Resilience, Ambition, Innovation, Sharing, and Commitment.

In summary, make your journey

What do you value most about working at the company?

The opportunity the company gave me to do what I love, believe in my work, and in my abilities.

System Manager 2020 Head of Corporate Quality 2023 NEWSLETTER 17

What were the main challenges you faced throughout your career in the company?

There have been some projects executed, where all of them had their challenges. There is no project without problems and challenges to solve. I think the main challenge was the increase in responsibility over the years and projects.

How did you overcome these challenges?

How did you start your career in the company? (Who hired you, for what purpose, what tasks, etc.)

I got to know the company through a friend of mine who works at CJR Renewables, José Carlos Costa, currently the construction director at NORAM. In 2016, I was quite curious about the challenges the company faced, as well as wanting to enter the renewable energy construction industry. My first attempt was for the engineering team, where I interviewed with Eng. Paulo Silva. The interview went quite well, but I wasn't chosen due to my lack of experience in the field. The company needed someone with more technical experience to tackle the challenges it had at the time. I persisted with Paula Cardoso from human resources until I had the opportunity to be

interviewed by Eng. Bruno Gata for the position of electrical site manager. The interview was quite technical, and I was quite enticed by the opportunity to manage an electrical project for a wind farm. At the moment of the interview, I felt, and it was almost guaranteed that I would join the company to try to show my worth.

At that moment, in May or June 2016, the company had four key projects: PE Sarco, PE Nazca, PE Aurora and PE Punta Sierra. The NTP of these projects had some delay, which delayed my entry into the company until October 2016. I still have in my personal inbox the emails trying to force my entry into the company and putting pressure on the HR department due to the fear of losing this challenge. Looking back, this persistence bore its respective fruits, like everything in life.

With challenges come insecurities and doubts about yourself and your abilities. Nights are spent rationalizing about challenges instead of dreams. This leads you to study and read a lot about how you should act. However, it's not all. Knowledge can help us overcome challenges, but without the support of others and knowing how to listen, we won't succeed. Ego can be our worst enemy and thinking that we can do everything by ourselves is the path to failure. Since the beginning of human existence, we have worked in community and as a team, and because of that, we have never been close to extinction. Without the support of the teams I work with and the company departments, I couldn't overcome any of the challenges proposed. I learned and keep learning a lot from all departments. Without the support of the finance department, I wouldn't know anything

about guarantee letters. Without the purchasing department, I wouldn't have reliable contacts with suppliers. Without the HR department, I couldn't have resources to do the projects. Without the engineering team, I couldn't learn more about the technical part of the projects. If I didn't listen to my leaders, I wouldn't be what I am today. Listening to leaders doesn't mean we have to be like them. They are responsible for charting our path, but how we walk it—whether by motorcycle, on foot, by car, backwards, or sideways—is defined by our personality and intuition.

What were the main milestones of your career in the company?

construction. I still have difficulty seeing iron plans, identifying the type of cuts in a plan, concluding that my civil vision is limited. However, I'm proud to distinguish different types of concrete, to know the names of the machines and the effect each one has. Know the type of resources, tools, materials I need to have to make a path or a foundation. When I was in college, I always thought about taking a course in electrical engineering and civil engineering, because that way I would surpass anyone at the technical level in construction. I'm lucky that CJR Renewables is my civil engineering school.

conservative country, we are changing that image in recent years, but we are still quite conservative. With this type of culture, Portuguese companies tend to do what is normal, what is standard and safe. This company thinks and develops completely differently. First, it is always changing to embrace new challenges. Comparing the company when I entered with the present, it's incomparable. Obviously, the values remain, but the business areas have been developing and people have been adapting to new challenges. We don't see many people in this company with more than 5 or 6 years in the same position or doing the same business. What I value most in this company is

new responses to the market and we develop as professionals. This freedom to think was one of the main factors for my growth.

What are the main skills and qualities you believe have contributed to your success in the company?

Persistence and teamwork. The success of each of us depends on our persistence to solve problems and knowing how to work as a team. Anyone who thinks that being successful is being better than others is completely wrong and won't go anywhere, not in this company or any other... The failure of someone in my team is my failure. We have to support each other, and in this way, we all grow and we all succeed. It is obvious that we are competitive and we want to be the best, but if the company is not the best at what it does, we won't have new opportunities and new positions to occupy. For the company to be the best, we have to know how to work as a team among all.

What are your short and long-term career goals in the company?

In the short term, given the new position I have, to be able to have a stable department and to work autonomously, responding to the various projects I have for this year and the next. I am getting help from other business units, but developing a department is not easy. We are talking about hiring new people, ensuring that these new

people can work as a team and accept the values that the company represents. The development of this department can be as much a failure as an example within the company. I hope that with persistence and support from everyone, I can make the new department a success.

Long term, to be able to embrace more business. The company having the confidence to pass me other types of challenges when changes occur. I know perfectly well that in 3, 4 years, market demands will be different and new challenges will arise. In college, I had a management professor who said that in the future, the average period of a worker within the company would be 2 years until moving on to the next challenge. Since this company is always changing, in 2 years I'm sure new challenges to embrace will appear. It is not necessary to change companies, because the company changes for us.

What advice would you give to someone starting their career in the company?

Never stop thinking. If you notice, we rarely see our management communicating with us, but they are always listening. Think and give

freedom to your creativity. Don't be afraid to take risks and follow your intuition. I know perfectly well that even if we are wrong, the company will value the action more than the error. Those who do not make mistakes do not grow, those who do not make mistakes do not learn. Obviously, our actions have to be measured, but they are the ones that will develop the best in you. The company gives you that freedom. Fear can absorb us, but you have the freedom to enter a meeting, discuss technically with a client and define solutions as a team. We know perfectly well that one of the objectives of working is to have a good salary and to be able to have a good quality of life, according to each of us. However, if we are working to pursue this, the company will not give it the respective value. If you pursue professional development and the ability to respond to various challenges positively, the company will give the respective recognition and from there comes the rest that we expect.

RETURN: THE PROFESSIONALS

WHO DECIDED TO RETURN TO CJR RENEWABLES

2014 was Tiago's debut at CJR Renewables after 10 years of experience elsewhere. But none like CJR Renewables. That's why he returned.

What was your professional journey? In which year did you join and in which year did you return? And what has been your growth?

My first experience with CJR was in 2014 when I joined the team in South America, on the Taltal project in Chile. After that project, I had experiences in Poland and Jamaica as a Site Manager, and in Serbia as a Project Manager, totaling 4 and a half years before my departure. Despite my departure, I always stayed in the renewable sector as an Electrical Works Manager for the Scandinavian and Central European region, leading to my return to CJR in 2022.

Motivation for the Return: What motivated your return to CJR Renewables?

I believe that as professionals, we should always be seeking new challenges and ways to grow and become better in our field, so when the opportunity arose to join the Solar & Grid structure, in this position and in this geographic area, I didn't hesitate twice.

In addition to the above, it is essential to mention some other factors that also weighed in on this decision, such as:

// The company's growth during the period I was away (four years),

which clearly showed that the path and plan set by management were working;

// Alignment with the company's culture and values;

// The fact that people I had the opportunity to work with in the past remained at CJR, people whom I recognized for their competence, quality, and value, was another factor that influenced my decision.

Perceived Changes: In what aspects do you believe CJR Renewables has positively changed and contributed to your desire to return to the company?

Observed Benefits: From your point of view, what are the main advantages of working at CJR Renewables that convinced you to return?

Working at CJR Renewables is synonymous with constant and daily challenges, in a constant search for solutions to the challenges that arise (and are proposed). Knowing that there is a healthy work environment, mutual assistance among all employees, cooperation between departments, and where everyone knows they can add value.

Confident that the future looks bright and auspicious, especially in

// The company's growth, both in terms of geographical areas of operation and the creation and growth of business areas;

// Restructuring of some departments;

// Organization and growth of the construction support structure, which is fundamental and important in the performance of our daily functions;

// New processes and work methodologies, which bring more organization and efficiency;

// The permanence of former colleagues whom I recognized for their high level of professionalism in relevant positions in the company, which is a clear sign that the company continues to recognize the value of its employees.

their operations with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

In this context, CJR Renewables is taking a significant step by implementing an ESG program.

In this context, policies targeted towards this reality have been developed, and consequently, today we observe that investment funds and banks offer more advantageous conditions to those who adhere to these principles. This situation reverberates throughout the supply chain, as is the case with CJR Renewables. It is not a distant reality on

the temporal horizon; on the contrary, these changes are already palpable in the present.

WHAT ARE THE PRACTICAL REPERCUSSIONS?

From a social perspective, the adoption of the ESG program by CJR Renewables aims to cultivate a work environment characterized by inclusion and safety, as well as to establish positive links with local communities in the areas of operation. development of the communities where they operate.

At the same time, this program promotes transparent management, business ethics, and regulatory compliance. In an era where information is abundant and customers are increasingly aware, a solid ESG strategy can differentiate CJR Renewables in the competitive renewable energy market.

Regarding the environment, the implementation of the ESG program by CJR Renewables also plays a crucial role in minimizing the environmental impact of its operations. Adoption of sustainable technologies and practices that reduce emissions, optimize resource usage, and promote recycling will be mandatory.

The implementation of the ESG program at CJR Renewables is a strategic and essential move that aligns the company with current market demands and societal expectations.

GET TO KNOW AOLIC PARK OF KOSTOLAC

Bruno Cardoso, Project Manager

A DAY IN

Kostolac project is a Wind farm of 66 MW located in Kostolac city, 80 km from Belgrade. We’re in charge of all the works related with foundations and platforms.

It’s good that we’re back for Serbian market and at the same time for a new client, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.

The critical path of the project is the supplying and installing of precast piles for all 20 foundations, with 66 precast piles each foundation.

The project is being implemented in a landfill area, with very heterogenous material that is making our work more difficult. The progress is different from what was planned, mainly because of the winter conditions, but the obstacles have been overcome due resilience and excellence of our team.

Local regulations and specifications are quite different from what we are used to work with and in the beginning it was difficult to adjust ourselves.

We started the works on site on February. We’ve prepared 10 platforms, and all preparation works on foundations for piling works, which will start on the 1st week of May.

Depending on some local documentation, we expect to finish the project in October 2024.

A DAY IN KOSTOLAC

MILOS MARINKOVIC

For me, since the beginning, when CJR invited me to this project, I knew that all my experience was going to be tested. Being with a new costumer, in a new country, with different rules and different environments. Making all of it the best challenge for me and for the team.

JOÃO LEMOS

When I arrived at the Kostolac project, the project was already in progress, namely in the platforms and road works.

Almost half a year has passed since the beginning of the project. The preparation phase started at the end of November 2023.

The beginning of the works was planned for the cluster from WTG01 to WTG07 and proceeded at a slower pace due bad weather conditions and building permits, which for reasons unknown to us, have not yet been obtained.

Given that all problems go hand in hand with the execution of the works, we reduced the slower dynamics of the execution to a minimum. We are looking forward to a new chapter of the project with pleasure, which is the construction of the foundation, where the piles are driven first, followed by the construction of the concrete slab. We have established good communication with our client "Siemens Gamesa", so

I hope it will stay that way. We will be back in a couple of months, hopefully with good news.

The non-typical project, had already been started by another company in another stage, creating additional challenges to the team and to me on the quality department. We needed to accomplish the CJR requirements, taking in consideration a project that was not from zero. Relations with the customer are daily tested, and only with a high level of professionalism and commitment, milestones are achieved and accepted, bringing great work and satisfaction to the team, and particularly to me.

Therefore, it was necessary to get involved in the project as quickly as possible, so that my presence would be useful. To do this, I had to adapt to different work methodologies and processes than previous projects in which I was involved.

Regarding technical aspects, the project is not very different from the one I was involved in the past, the only difficulty being the language barrier (spoken and written).

In conclusion, the major challenge was to get involved quickly in the project, motived by the chance to help the team using my previous experience in other projects.

A DAY IN KOSTOLAC

ESTRELA SIMÕES

Kostolac is a challenging project, especially considering it's my first project where I'm having a more direct involvement in its construction.

We have a team that supports each other daily and continuously, with the common focus of achieving, with excellence, all objectives, aiming to successfully meet all established goals.

JOÃO BOIEIRO

After rewarding experiences since 2017 at CJR, where I had the opportunity to be an integral part of various projects in countries such as Chile (Punta Sierra and Sarco) or Poland (Pomerania / Ujazd /

Korytnica / Sompolno), I have recently arrived at the Kostolac project to face another exciting challenge, this time in a different latitude, Serbia. Another culture, another language, another alphabet, in themselves, the language and the alphabet, are already a considerable challenge. I found a motivated team focused on the proposed objectives, where resilience prevails over any difficulty that may arise.

Officially, we started with the execution of works on the WIND FARM KOSTOLAC on January 9, 2024. That was the date when something new began, despite the many circumstances and challenges that we faced in the preparation of the project, all of us, as a team, gave contribution and put a lot of effort to achieve that first step towards execution of works of the project.

Due weather condition it was complicated, since we started work in winter, we faced a lot of challenges from organization, execution of work, and safety, but every

day we are getting to know each other better and better and our cohesion gets stronger, which started to manifest on the site and also in cooperation with the subcontractor and the client.

Safety on project started with a lot of documentation, which was necessary to begin the project. After providing all documents we started with the execution of works on site. Together as a team we put our effort into developing positive safety culture on the site and to be good examples to all employees who are working on the site.

Safety culture started to grow and improve from day one on the project, although we had a small misunderstanding at the beginning, but with the passing of time we started to improve safety culture and implement it on the construction site.

The first results of our efforts, we got as feedback in March from the client’s side as he awarded our employees, which shows us that we are on a good path and that we should follow and maintain. With the support of management and all involved employees on the site we believe that we will be able to finish the project without any injuries or incidents, and I am sure that everybody from Kostolac team will give their best to make it happened.

Safety first!!!

Manuel Alves TALKING WITH

Manuel feels that he has grown a lot with each project he has taken part in.

How did CJR Renewables come about?

CJR Renewables emerged from the search for something new and challenging in my professional life. Although I wasn't familiar with CJR Renewables when I saw the job opening, that wasn't a restriction because given the amount of information available on the company's communication channels and the feedback from people who already knew the company, I quickly obtained the information I needed and decided to take on the challenge.

Can you talk a bit about your current role at CJR Renewables? We'd like you to describe your main responsibilities and a typical workday.

Currently, my position is Site Assistant at the Bustelo project in Portugal. My main duties involve overseeing the phases of the ongoing project and tasks to be executed on site in order to carry out all entries in SAP, sending invoices to the finance department with the respective purchase order and consumption for payment to be made to the suppliers of the project, ensuring that all workers on site clock in, recording the site's cash flow, controlling project costs (e.g., meals, fuel, and equipment/vehicles), creating purchase requisitions, uploading comparative maps for approval, among other functions associated with my role.

A typical day? It's difficult to describe a "typical day" because there isn't a daily routine that allows me to say tomorrow I'll only be doing certain tasks. The adversities/unforeseen events that usually arise during a project require us to always be operational and have the flexibility to act in the face of adversity.

How long have you been with CJR Renewables? And how have you seen the company change and evolve during your time with us?

I've been with the company since June 6, 2022, so I'll soon complete 2 years. Despite being a short period of time, I've already noticed that the company has grown significantly and adapted to the market's needs. It's a company that cares about the well-being, development, and empowerment of its employees and tries to extract the best from each of its employees.

What was the project or achievement you were most proud of at CJR Renewables?

Every project I've been through has played an important role in my professional/personal development and growth, so it's difficult to choose one. However, I think the San Juan de Marcona Project stands out for me, being the first project. It was my first introduction to the company, the renewable energy sector, and also the first time in a Latin American country with a huge cultural difference compared to Portugal. Going through the whole adaptation process and overcoming all the difficulties/adversities that arise during a project left me with a feeling of victory and personal fulfillment.

Lastly, what do you like most about CJR Renewables?

What I like most about CJR Renewables is that you never know what tomorrow holds because there might be a new adventure soon. CJR Renewables has allowed me to develop, grow, and look to the future with optimism.

urgent tasks that need to be resolved during the day and allocate time to follow up on others, aiming to resolve them as quickly as possible. This sets the tone for my workday.

Throughout the day, as emails come into my inbox, I address them and respond if possible. If I have pending supplies related to procurement at CJR Portugal, I contact them and follow up accordingly.

For minor purchases, I obtain quotes and prepare CMAPs for approval by management. If there are unclear situations or issues that need clarification with the client on-site, I coordinate with the responsible party and work together to find a solution. Later, I visit the site to assess progress and ensure that work is being carried out according to the engineer's specifications. Finally, I attend the Kaizen meeting to discuss work progress and any important points that the whole team should be aware of. This is a typical workday for me, where unexpected situations arise that we address as they come up.
