Şimdi oturduğumuz yerden kışın en keskin tarafını yaşıyorken, birkaç saatlik mesafelerde insanların denize girip güneşlendiğini bilmek içimizi rahatlatıyor. Şu günlerde zamanı olup da nereye gideceğine ve orada ne yapacağına karar veremeyenler için harika bir dosya hazırladık. Perhaps winter is the only season made for skiing, but what of sunbathing and swimming? It is a real blessing that the seasons don’t all start at the same time around the globe. As we endure the chill of winter, the mere knowledge that people are swimming in the sea and enjoying the sunshine a few hours away is enough to warm the heart. We have prepared a file for those who have some time on their hands but can’t decide where to go or what to do. As you leaf through these pages, you’ll be tempted by the prospect of bathing in turquoise waters and the siren song of dazzlingly white slopes inviting you to ski.

NEGRIL, JAMAICA Jamaica is a great destination for those in search of sea, sunshine, and sand. Just to lie on a hammock in the sunshine,doing some light reading as the rhythms of Bob Marley echo through the air, will be enough to make this trip worth it. Of course, there’s plenty more to do if you’re in need of something more stimulating. That elusive place you always see in your daydreams? Embedded in the sea-side cliffs, the Rock House Hotel exemplifies a healthy relationship between mankind and nature. Below, rays of sunlight illuminate Jamaica’s volcanic beaches, evoking the ethereal fantasy land depicted in Robinson Crusoe.

ADELBODEN, SWITZERLAND Switzerland is, naturally, one of the first places you’ll associate with skiing. However, you’ll find everyone else has the same idea about the country – especially at this time of the year, it’s overrun by tourists looking to ski. Fortunately, the Alps are thoroughly abundant with ski resorts. Take Adelboden, for instance, which has become a prime spot for those who want to slip away from the daytrippers and enjoy skiing in solitude. Unlike the crowded St. Moritz, Adelboden caters to a free-wheeling, alternative audience. It’s also one of the ski resorts best prepared against global warming; the town is illuminated entirely by solar, hydroelectric, and wind power. The Cambrian Hotel stands ready for accommodation at the top of the hill, noted for its exquisite architecture and locally-inspired interior design.

VERACRUZ, MEXICO Perhaps this isn’t the right time of the year to visit Mexico, though that depends on your definition of the right time. Romantic tropical showers that leave you lightly soaked but still warm, then a massive sun that beams a friendly smile from the skies... If this is what you’ve had in mind, consider Veracruz, set on the Gulf Coast of Mexico. With seven million inhabitants, it’s the third most populous state of the country. Besides being one of the world’s greatest producers of sugarcane, the state is well known for its touristic activities. You’ll find a quiet, secluded getaway in Azucar, about two and a half hours from the capital. Lounging on one of the hammocks by the beachside bungalows, you might dive into a biography of Frida Kahlo, or you could sample the regional delicacies grilled on the parrilla, with no interruption except the sound of a crackling fire...
ZERMATT – MATTERHORN, İSVIÇRE

ZERMATT – MATTERHORN, SWITZERLAND Zermatt is perfect for all sorts of winter sports, set on the country’s border with Italy to the west by the skirts of the Matterhorn, the third highest peak of the Alps and one of the most photogenic mountains of the world. The region boasts some of the clearest skies in Switzerland, basking in sunlight 300 days a year. The authorities seem intent on keeping the skies clear: as vehicles running on fossil fuels have been prohibited since 1947, the locals rely entirely on electric transportation. Omnia Hotel, designed by architect Ali Tayar, is the most fashionable accommodation of the area, which provides opportunities for mountain climbing and ice climbing as well as skiing. Prized for its commanding location, the hotel is reachable by the blue Sayar-brand electric vehicles so popular in the area.
KUI BURI, TAYLAND
Kasım ayında Tayland’ın üzerine güneş daha sıcak doğmaya başlar ve tüm dünyada; tropikal, eğlenceli ve sıcak bir tatil arayan çoğu insanın tercih ettiği güneydoğu Asya’nın bu müthiş körfez ülkesini aydınlatır. KUI BURI, THAILAND The sun over Thailand intensifies in the month of November, illuminating the coastal country that attracts so many visitors each year in search of a tropical holiday packed with sunshine and fun. Fortunately, Thailand is also teeming with hidden corners of heaven far away from the eyes of the crowd. Kui Buri is just one of these sanctuaries, half an hour away from the Hua Hin district (a favorite of the Thai Royal family), in turn three hours from Bangkok. A handful of designer hotels are scattered among the pristine beaches and meticulously preserved natural environments. X2 Resort promises a sleek vision of paradise of earth within its luxury villas, which reflect the stripped-down aesthetic of architect Duangrit Bunnag. The hotel’s restaurant, 4K, specializes in gourmet fusion cuisine.

COURCHEVEL, FRANCE Courchevel is the jewel of the French Alps, a region which has recently become a hotspot for winter sports, and it is full of beauties that will keep you coming back. The luxurious resort is split into five layers by altitude (Saint Bon, Courchevel 1300, Courchevel 1550, Courchevel 1650, Courchevel 1850) and is popular throughout the year. On luxury – the Chabichou Hotel located in the upscale Courchevel 1850 district will be of interest to connoisseurs in search of a fulfilling gastronomic experience to complement the fresh air of the mountains after a day at the slopes. When double-starred Michelin chefs Michel Rochedy and Stêphane Buron aren’t hard at work in the restaurant, they teach gourmet cooking classes. GRENADA, THE CARRIBEAN SEA An island nation you’d be hard pressed to pinpoint on a map, Grenada lies in the southwest of the Carribean Sea. A dazzling range of tropical beauties embellish the island’s volcanic landscape, the perfect setting for the passionate getaway, honeymoon, or mere sanctuary against the bitter cold of the season. The nutmeg is the national symbol of the island, even appearing on its flag; the country is the world’s second largest producer of the seed after Indonesia. The Laluna is another part of the island’s iconography, a landmark structure looking out to the Carribean before the famous cliffs of Portici Beach. Designed by Gabriela Giuntoli, whose previous clients include Giorgio Armani and Sting, the building is regarded as the most exceptional structure in the West Indies. Emerald hills, crystal-clear waters and fertile lands surrounding the bulding have clearly inspired its architecture, which bears Balinese, Italian, and Carribean influences.

SOUTH TYROL, ITALY The region of South Tyrol in the north of Italy seems quite removed from the rest of the country, but it does bear some of its traits. Bolzano (Bozen), one of the largest settlements of this natural wonderland at the foot of the Alps, is famed for its vineyards and apple orchards that grow against the backdrop of the strikingly beautiful mountains which surround it. The Vigilius Mountain Resort, on top of Bolzano’s San Vigilio mountain (1500 meters) and only accessible by lift, promises a relaxing stay where you can enjoy the benefits of fresh Alpine air and mineral springs in the tranquil setting of its gardens, which overlook the Dolomites. Ski centers are only a few kilometers away, ideal for a day trip, which can be followed by a visit to one of the fine restaurants at Bolzano’s city center to sample the best of South Tyrolian cuisine – even if for a short while, you’ll feel like a local.
