Local students in Parker are working to encourage change in their community through a youth commission. It was established by the town council in 2022 to provide an opportunity for students in the community to learn about local government and to participate in democracy. The commission also advises the town on matters affecting youth in

A sophomore at VALE High School, Amara Fantl joined the youth commission when it formed and is now the chairperson. Fantl currently hopes to attend Georgetown’s Walsh School of Foreign Service and then law school as she aspires to work in government and eventually in places like Africa

and the Middle East. “I hope to bring more opportunities to underrepresented youth who haven’t gotten them before,” said Fantl. “My wish is for every youth in Parker to feel valued and heard.” Vice Chair Bella Harper is a sophomore at Legend High School and is one of the newest members of the commission.
