As a Jan. 31 deadline approaches for people to apply to serve on various boards and commissions,
Littleton’s officials are planning to adjust how these groups look and function. The city has 14 resident-run bodies that advise and help set the agenda on topics ranging from the arts to the environment. For example, the Historic Preservation Board makes recommendations on landmarks and the Planning Commission reviews developments. The proposed changes are intended to remedy inconsistencies in the structures and operations of such bodies, according to city doc-

uments. One proposed change is to combine the Arts and Culture Commission with the Fine Arts Board. In another, the Board of Adjustment would join with the Building Board of Appeals. “In both cases, their duties are related enough that it makes sense that one board can have purview over both of those,” City Manager Jim Becklenberg said.
