In a 2021 survey conducted by the Elizabeth Park and Recreation District, most respondents said they
would like to see a recreation center built in Elizabeth. However, when the issue went to vote in May 2022, residents of the EPR district rejected a tax increase for a proposed recreation center, which would have included a pool, as well as improvements to Casey Jones Park. The current board of the park and rec district believes that the community still wants and needs an indoor

pool. In the meantime, a newly built pool within the Independence subdivision might offer an opportunity for Elbert County residents to enjoy amenities like swim classes.
