Traditional dinner comes back Alternative Education Program students serve feast that began at Frontier High BY NICKY QUINBY SPECIAL TO COLORADO COMMUNITY MEDIA
At Elizabeth High School’s Thanksgiving Dinner, students from the Alternative Education Program smoothly handled every aspect of the event. They organized and planned the dinner alongside school staff. They ushered people through the doors, escorted people through the school, and prepared and served the entire meal. Upwards of 100 people attended the event on Nov. 16. When the program was based at Frontier High School, the dinner was an annual tradition until the school closed a few years ago. This year it was brought back to life at EHS. Language arts teacher Lori Horton, affectionately known as “Horty,” is passionate about the program and the dinner. This event benefits the community and is “a great educational experience for our students,” she said. With the help of Alana Wolner, SEE DINNER, P8
