Well, now is your chance to see the man who was voted by 417 magazine as the Best Local Solo Musician for the last 7 years! Art Bentley is now based out of Springfield, MO but was raised in the West Plains, MO area. Art has been playing music for crowds for just over a decade now. His music has a sound all its own. Though Art performs songs that you recognize from various artists, his talent really shines when you hear him perform his own songs. This mix of Country Music and Southern Rock is outstanding to say the least. Continued on page 3

What Does it mean to be a member of Cloud 9?

When you purchase a membership in Cloud 9 Ranch Club, Inc., you have access to a true gem of a family camping resort. However, camping is a small part of what a membership in Cloud 9 Ranch Club, Inc., really means. What most members don’t realize is they also become an owner with several thousand others of a multi-million dollar corporation. The original corporation was established in 1972 as a business developer’s dream. In 1998, the developer voluntarily turned the corporation over to its membership through a reorganization process. Cloud 9 Ranch Club, Inc. then became a member-owned, not-for-profit Missouri Corporation. Membership really means you jointly have ―ownership‖ of an undivided 1/6000th deeded interest in the property with other owners that is managed by the corporation. The corporation is run by Directors who are selected each year by a vote of the owners in an annual election. It is the duty of the Board of Directors to make corporate decisions based on the best interest of the corporation. The Board of Directors is responsible for hiring a qualified General Manager who, under corporate leadership and guidance, is responsible for staffing the facilities and maintain over 6,300 acres of pristine Ozark natural resources, as well as a full service resort designed for all ages to enjoy year-round. Ownership of a large corporation with a staff of over 80 employees during peak season is big business. We know of no other facility of its kind that offers what Cloud 9 Ranch Club, Inc. does for the price. Ordinary working families can no longer afford to take a week’s vacation like generations before us did. Last year memberships to the Ranch sold for $2,000.00. In April of 2011, the Board of Directors approved a very limited number of lifetime memberships for $500, a fraction of its worth. This reduced price is offered to generate increased revenues and at the same time offer an affordable vacation to young families who want to bring back camping and the love of the outdoors to their children. Being a not-for-profit corporation, revenues generated to run the campground are paid through an annual maintenance fee to maintain and improve the entire facility. In addition to maintenance and improvements, the corporation is responsible for paying all salaries, insurance, property taxes and operational expenses from these revenues. Remarkably, with all the costs involved in running a corporation the size of Cloud 9 Ranch Club, Inc., the current annual maintenance fee is slightly over $400, and it is pro-rated for new membership purchased for the number of months left in that year. Maintenance fees are billed in January of each year with quarterly payment option. As an owner in good standing, you have unlimited access to the Ranch property, facilities and amenities, most free to use and others having nominal charges. Your first 30 days is usage-free. After the 30 free-usage days, a small usage fee is charged to your account. Fees are set by the Board of Directors each year (2011 Usage Fee is $8.00 per day). Cloud 9 Ranch Club, Inc. is one of the largest employers in Ozark County, MO, with an operating budget of over $2,000,000. In today’s economy, the cost of operating any other business of its magnitude is much larger. Our Directors and management strive to continue to keep the operational costs affordable for all its members. It takes all of us doing our part. Come to the Ranch and enjoy it, but keep in mind that this is a business and as an owner, you are jointly responsible for its solvency and future existence.

Horseback Riding Adventure at Cloud 9 Ranch For the past several years Cloud 9 Ranch has offered a chance for you to experience an overnight trail ride. This invites the hearty adventurer to experience the Ozark Mountains from the back of a horse. Overnight package includes a 4-5 hour trail ride departing on Saturday, September 24th, a Cowboy cookout on Saturday evening, overnight campout at the Ranch stables, Cowboy breakfast on the morning of Sunday September 25th, followed by 4 hour trail ride on Sunday morning. You will be guided by truly experienced Ranch wranglers and range cooks. The adventure begins at 11:30am at the C9R stables. Cowboys and Cowgirls will be introduced to their faithful mount and the ride will begin through some of the most spectacular parts of the Ozarks. At around 5pm the group will return to the Ranch Stables where you will be able to pitch your tent. All weather tents will make your stay enjoyable no matter what Mother Nature decides to bring. The range cooks will prepare a Cowboy Cookout for the trail ride participants. The evening will include campfire stories, and perhaps a cowboy song or two. You are welcome to bring your singing voice and a guitar if you like. On Sunday morning you will start your day off with coffee (of course) and a Cowboy Breakfast that is to die for. After that it is back into the saddle for another four hour morning ride. This could be the best experience of your life‌..and certainly one you will never forget!

Name the Colt If you have not done so yet, take the time to stop by the Stables and visit the new foal. C9R needs your help in finding the perfect name for our newest edition. If you would like to submit a name for the foal you can do so at the Ranch Office. Each name submitted will be 50 cents. Proceeds for the name selection goes to the C9R Volunteer Fire Department and First Responder Programs. The name will be selected at the end of the summer.
