TAITTINGER, COMTES DE CHAMPAGNE 2014
A ‘STRONG BUY’ INVESTMENT OPTION

97 points

I am delighted to offer the latest release of a Champagne 50 index top performer, Taittinger’s Comtes de Champagne 2014. This latest release rubs shoulders with the 2012 (96 points) and 2013 (98 points), with its score right in the middle of the two; a triumverate of stellar releases. This is a STRONG BUY recommendation.
(all in bond)
6x75cl - £560
3x150cl - £750
1x300cl - £650
1x600cl - £1,800
The official release price of £595 per six bottles in bond pleasingly falls well below the Liv-Ex fair value line (see graph bottom left) but our reduced, private offer release price brings the 2014 in line with the current market value of the 2013 vintage, a 6% discount to the global release price and a head start for all Clos clients adding this fabulous asset to their portfolio.
According to Liv-Ex, Comtes de Champagne is the fourth highest traded champagne of 2025, with the 2013 seeing excellent trade. Made only in the very best vintages, Comtes de Champagne is 100% chardonnay and is aged for ten years prior to release.
The 2014 vintage release has been met with universal critical acclaim, with Antonio Galloni, Johan Castaing and James Suckling awarding 97 points. Matthew Jukes awarded 19.5/20 points. It is not so long ago that the 96-point-rated 2012 Comtes was released at £745 for 6x75, so this special offer of £560 for a 97-point 2014 is absolutely worth securing. Production levels in 2014 were substantially down on 2013 due to rigorous sorting, so inverse supply will also be exacerbated versus the generous 2013 crop.

Writing for Vinous, Antonio Galloni awarded 97 points:
“The 2014 Comtes de Champagne is pristine. In this tasting, it comes across as a mini-2008, similar in its linear personality, with just a touch more mid-palate creaminess. Readers will find a Comtes that plays in the realm of tension and energy. Citrus confit, white flowers, chalk, mint and chamomile are all finely sketched. Light tropical overtones grace the finish. What an absolute delight. The 2014 can be enjoyed now or cellared. ”.
