The CLC Education charter is a powerful document underpinned by the College Vision and values of Justice, Love, Compassion and Hope.

The CLC Education Charter outlines core beliefs and practices around how we work and it clarifies the expectations of every teacher, student and parents/carers in order for each student to realise their full potential.

The CLC Education Charter embodies five interrelated elements – excellence, wisdom, belonging, courage and responsibility. It also provides an opportunity for students to promote and embrace the elements of the Charter to equip our students for success in their future endeavours.

Students at CLC undertake a broad curriculum covering Learning Areas of the Victorian Curriculum. The curriculum in the Year 7 gives students a balanced experience of foundation subjects and offers a comprehensive and balanced selection of subjects that allows all students to excel. These subject offerings are designed to challenge learners to explore and consider deep questions, and big ideas. We look forward to working in partnership with you as together we prepare our students to realise their potential and maximise the achievement of future pathway goals.

LANGUAGES AT CATHOLIC LADIES’ COLLEGE

All students study a language to the end of Year 9 and can then elect to continue their studies through to Year 12. At the end of Year 7 students choose one language, Italian or Indonesian, to continue through to the end of Year 9.

YEAR 7 ITALIAN AND INDONESIAN

Students in Year 7 will study one semester of Italian and one semester of Indonesian. Listening, speaking, reading and writing skills are developed when learning a second language. Topics are relevant to the lives of young people both in Australia and in Indonesian or Italian speaking communities. Students will be encouraged to gain an understanding and appreciation of the cultural similarities and differences in these communities.

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is integrated into many aspects of Language courses. It can provide a medium for authentic interaction, as well as for learning vocabulary, improving pronunciation and independent and collaborative learning.

HOMEWORK

Homework will involve tasks, which aim to consolidate work introduced in class and in some cases, to provide opportunities for extension. It is also essential that students set aside regular time for learning new vocabulary and grammatical items.
