Applications for the 2026 Scholarships Program are now open. Scholarships provide valuable support for dedicated students, recognising musical potential and rewarding commitment to study and performance.
Scholarships provide students with the opportunity to pursue their musical education with greater focus, while alleviating some of the financial pressures associated with tuition and ensemble participation.
Each year, recipients are selected through a competitive process that reflects both their achievements and promise in musical development.
We invite all eligible students to apply. Detailed information regarding the application process, eligibility criteria, and assessment requirements is available from the Conservatorium office and via our website.
Applications close Monday, 17, November 2025.

Charlie Gallaher is a student in Year 6 at South Grafton Public School who began Clarinet lessons in 2022 and joined the CVCon Kids Choir in 2023. In the last year Charlie has taken up piano and saxophone as well. In 2026, Charlie will attend The Armidale School, having received a Music Scholarship.
●What first inspired you to start learning music? I like to listen to music. I started to learn the recorder with my year 3 teacher and I liked this. I then started clarinet lessons
●What’s your favourite piece you’ve learned so far?
Symphonic Overture. The state wind band played this at the Festival of Instrumental Music this year
●Do you have a favourite teacher, class, or ensemble memory?
Mr Morgan is the best teacher. The concert band is the best ensemble.
●What has been the most challenging thing you’ve learned, and how did you overcome it? The pieces for the state wind band have been the most challenging. Mr Morgan helped me to learn them.
●What do you like to do outside of music?
I like to play sport (cricket, hockey, AFL, soccer) and I go to school (South Grafton PS)
●What’s a fun fact about you that not many people know? I am the 2nd shortest person in my class.
Congratulations to all the students who recently completed HSC Music performance exams. Preparing for these performances requires not only technical skill but also resilience, creativity, and a deep love for the art form. Each student has demonstrated remarkable commitment, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements.
A special mention to Ethan Moore who has received a nomination for possible inclusion in ENCORE 2026 — a remarkable acknowledgment of his talent and dedication. Ethan has been a trombone student of the CVCon since Year 4.
ENCORE showcases exceptional HSC Music major works from across NSW, including performance, composition, and musicology.
We are delighted to celebrate the recent successes of several of our students who have been recognised at a state and national level for their musical talent.
Charlie Gallaher and Zoe Woods were selected to perform with the Junior State Wind Band, an ensemble that brings together some of the most promising young wind players from across New South Wales. Oscar Woods was chosen for the Senior State Wind Band, an outstanding achievement that reflects his skill, dedication, and commitment to music.
In addition, Oscar Woods, Toby Smidt, and Amelie Davis performed as part of the Regional Youth Orchestra (RYO) in their recent collaboration with the Australian World Orchestra, an extraordinary opportunity to perform alongside some of the country’s leading professional musicians. These experiences not only showcase the dedication of our students, but also highlight the pathways and opportunities that music education provides. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing their continued growth as musicians.
