Welcome to Term 3 at the Clarence Valley Conservatorium!

It’s hard to believe we’re already in Term 3! The year ’ s flying by, and there’s still so much great music to come.

We’re looking forward to a term full of rehearsals, performances, and those little moments that make this place so special.

Thanks for being part of it all—see you around the Con!

At the end of term 2 we said goodbye to two favourite teachers, Rob Hughes and Lois Johnston. But we are very happy to welcome back Kate Joseph who will do some singing lessons for us.

All students from Term 2 2025 have been re-enrolled for Term 3 2025, unless you have indicated otherwise.

Farewell

It is with a mixture of gratitude and sadness that we bid farewell to two members of the Clarence Valley Conservatorium team: Rob Hughes and Lois Johnston.

Rob has been a long term guitar teacher at the CVCon, commencing in 2008. Rob’s contributions have left an indelible mark on our community. Rob has seen a large number of guitar students of all levels and his friendly approach has seen some excellent results.

Lois Johnston, too, has played a short but significant role in the heart of CVCon As an accomplished vocalist and beloved teacher, Lois brought both warmth and expertise to her students. Her encouragement, patience, and deep understanding of the human voice have empowered singers of all ages to discover their unique sound and grow in confidence.

While we are sorry to see them go, we are deeply thankful for the time, energy, and care they have shared with our students and community. We wish Rob and Lois every success and happiness in their future endeavours, and they will always remain a valued part of the CVCon story.

On behalf of everyone at the Conservatorium –thank you, Rob and Lois. You will be dearly missed

Young Regional Musicians Set for European Tour in Landmark International Project

4 students from Clarence Valley Conservatorium are preparing for the opportunity of a lifetime as they embark on the 2025 Europe Tour with the Regional Youth Orchestra NSW (RYO).

Before their departure, RYO will present a Farewell Concert in Sydney, offering audiences a chance to hear the orchestra perform their tour repertoire and celebrate this historic moment for regional arts in NSW.

Tessa Darby, Casey Palmer, Toby Smidt and Oscar Woods will represent Clarence Valley Conservatorium at this exciting event.

The orchestra, comprising students aged 13–22 from towns across the state, will perform in Austria and Germany throughout July, taking part in high-profile concerts, workshops and cultural exchanges with international music institutions and ensembles.
