PREP CONCERT
The Prep school hosted a music recital where parents gathered to watch talented pupils perform many instruments. The evening quite literally started and ended on a good note with string and wind groups playing a variety of short songs. From cellos to trumpets, all of the soloist students did an amazing job. The Pre-Prep’s music concert was the first time in two years that parents and friends could come together to watch our pupils play music. The concert featured over 30 students from Reception through to Year 2 performing a wide range of pieces on piano, violin, and cello. We can’t wait to see their blossoming talent develop.

Prep School pupils sang carols and Christams songs in front of parents in December. They got to wear their favourite Christmas jumpers and were surrounded by twinkling fairy light decorations as they performed. Parents got to enjoy a hot chocolate and a minced pie or two!

ROCK POP CLUB
This year has seen rock pop club enjoy practicing their harmonising in the music school on Monday afternoons. They sing a mixture of fast and slow songs, including Lost Boy by Ruth B.
SUPER HERO WORKSHOPS
‘It’s a bird! It’s a plane! ... It’s super Claremont!’ In January, the Pre-Prep School took part in a superhero workshop. The aim of this fun activity was to introduce the children to early years acting as well as engaging them in a different form of exercise. This workshop really helped to boost their self-confidence in the process.

The Pre-Prep and Nursery School performed in The Sleepy Shepherd and the Inn-Spectors. For most of the pupils, this was their first experience of a Christmas show, so it was great to see how much they enjoyed the singing and costumes.

SUMMER PRODUCTIONS

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK
Years 3 and 4 came together to put on a spellbinding performance of Jack and the Beanstalk. It is the first time these two year groups have collaborated on a play which was a fantastic opportunity to make new friendships and work as a team. The children’s commitment and endeavour in rehearsals was clear to see on the night, as they had a great time rhyming and singing their way through this fun fairy-tale. A very special thank you to the teachers involved in producing this lovely play.

THE LION KING
During the summer term Years 5 and 6 put on an absolutely roarrrr-some production of The Lion King! All the months of rehearsals paid off as each child individually shone on the stage, which is a testament to their determination. Thank you to all the teachers and parents who helped to transform Claremont into Pride Rock. From amazing animal sculptures, to spectacular singing, acting and dancing, this production was one not to miss. We hope you all enjoyed watching it as much as the children enjoyed performing.
The Prep School art club has produced some amazing work this year. The children have enjoyed drawing and sculpting some fabulous pieces and they even got to make personalised table mats! Meanwhile in Pre-Prep and Nursery, pupils have been getting creative and learning artistic skills like perspcetive in Dib Dab art club.

TAKE ONE PICTURE EXHIBITION
Prep School pupils have been studying the 1772 painting ‘A Shipwreck in Stormy Seas’ by Claude -Joseph Vernet as part of a project ran by The National Gallery. The project focused on using just one picture to create as many interpretations of the painting as possible. This encouraged pupils to use various media to create different textures and retell the shipwreck story in their own ways. The work was later displayed at Gala Day in a fantastic exhibition for families to enjoy.

Year 6 children have been studying Andy Warhol’s work from the 1960’s. They researched pop art and even got to make their own iconic Campbell’s soup cans modelled after Warhol’s 1962 painting.

PICASSO
Pupils in the Prep School have been studying Picasso in their art lessons. They learnt about the history of his work, examined his techniques and then painted their very own colourful abstract versions.
