T
he saying in football is that games are often won and lost in the trenches. A great offensive or defensive line has the ability to take over a game, making life very uncomfortable for an opponent. This is especially true on the offensive side of the ball. If a team has a great offensive line, running backs can have wide open lanes to run through and quarterbacks can have plenty of time to throw. This has been a big part of Isabella High School’s game in recent years. A season ago, stud offensive tackle Brett Johnson led a ferocious group that helped Isabella go 9-1 in the regular season before the team went on a deep playoff run. With Johnson now graduated and headed to South Alabama to play college football, a new lineman has taken the reigns. His name is Skylar Langford. Langford, a senior, is the Mustangs’ starting left guard. He has been starting for Isabella for the last couple of years, and will try to help the team pick up where it left off last season. It will not be easy. Replicating the success of a 9-1 season is hard enough, but going on another deep playoff run like Isabella did, winning two playoff games, will
