There is a belief among many that new things are always better.
If that is the case, then fans of Jemison High School should be extremely excited.
They have a brand-new head coach in former college football coach John Therrell. But, what may make or break the Panthers season is the play of new starting quarterback Hayden Robinson.
Robinson, a senior, is the oldest player on Jemison’s roster. He has been a quarterback on the depth chart for some time, but has mainly played a role on the JHS offense in the past as a wide receiver.
With former Jemison QB James Wright moving on from the Panthers, Robinson came into summer practices ready for more, and Therrell is giving him his chance in 2021.
“Coming into this year, I’m really hoping to shock the world,” Robinson said. “I’m ready for it.”
Robinson offers a different style of play at the position than Wright. Robinson would describe himself more as a pocket passer that can move and make plays outside the pocket when needed. But, the bigarmed QB is more comfortable when all he needs to do is stand still and sling it.
There will be a learning curve for both Robinson and the rest of the Panthers offense though. Therrell
