Director's Message

What an exciting time to be a Vacaville resident. In case you have not heard, earlier this year our City Council approved a Measure M budget that included funding for several studies.

One of these studies will help to determine improvements made to Three Oaks Community Center and Georgie Duke Sports Center. The facility studies are scheduled to wrap up in the spring. Other projects we anticipate starting in the spring include the installation of an irrigation system at Pena Adobe Park, commencing the construction of a dog park at Centennial Park as well as the Brighton Landing neighborhood park. Work on the Park, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan and the Centennial Park Master Plan continues. We are truly in the midst of planning the future of parks and recreation in Vacaville, so make sure to get involved and share your thoughts and ideas with us at future public meetings.

Our winter activities will keep the whole family entertained all season long. A personalized letter from Santa makes a trip to the mailbox extra special. Have Breakfast with Santa at the McBride Senior Center or have a Magical Visit with Santa right in your own home. Children will love participating in these activities while making special memories to last a lifetime. Ice Skating at Vacaville Ice Sports is just one of the great activities available for all ages. We also offer Snowboarding in Tahoe with PAL; youth basketball leagues and instruction at Georgie Duke Sports Center; and our 6th Grade Event, Jingle Ball at the Ulatis Community Center. We offer an array of holiday camps from Hip Hop, TGIF, Holiday Art and Science Camps, to Ice Skating, Basketball, Futsal, and Volleyball.

The newest addition to the fun is our Mother Son Dance on January 26 which is a compliment to the very popular Father Daughter Dance on February 2. Want to keep dancing? Grab some tap shoes and have a great time learning a new routine with Little Tappers for ages 4-6 or sign up for the tried and true Ballet Classes that are always a hit.

Adults 50 and over have many new exciting activities and programs to try such as guided walks of the Suisun Harbor, UC Davis Arboretum or Rockville Hills. Bring the grandchildren along and make crafts together through our new Creating Art with Grandkids workshops held throughout the season. If a new skill is what’s in order, register for French, Digital Photography, and Cooking or Golf classes.

Do you hear the sleigh bells ringing? Then come on over as we celebrate the season with a Santa Breakfast! Enjoy an all you can eat pancake breakfast along with two sausage links. Your favorite beverages are included. Each child will have the chance to visit with Santa and create winter themed crafts. Children under two years eat free with a paying adult. Holiday Connection: Senior Santa The Holiday Connection Program provides gifts for seniors during the holiday season. Seniors who live at home or in residential care facilities are eligible. Most have little contact with family or friends. The Holiday Connection Program provides social contact for these seniors during the holidays.

The Program is looking for sponsors, individuals or groups, who can purchase a gift and deliver to recipient. If delivery is not possible, please make a donation in the form of a check.

Busy Bees

Mommy's Time Out

This interactive experience for parents and children combines parental support and quality time for young children. Your toddler will develop social skills through play experiences. This is a place where parents/caregivers and children play together!

Adults assist their children in activities that promote confidence and social skills while having fun. An instructor is there to serve as a guide and conduct the closing circle time activity. Children must be age appropriate by start date of class. Sibling fee $10 for ages 6-9 months. Initial registration must be made in person.

Birth certificate and copy of current immunization record required. Subsequent registrations may be completed online.

Our toddler class provides a nurturing environment in which socialization skills, cognitive skills, independence, fine and gross motor skills, and language development are learned through imaginative play, large and small group activities, story time, sensory activities, music, dance, exploration, building, finger plays and more. Children's Corner Preschool

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR CHILDREN’S CORNER PRESCHOOL Children’s Corner Preschool has been educating Vacaville’s young children for over 45 years. In a safe and positive environment, our program supports the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child. We believe a hands-on approach to learning promotes exploration, creativity and discovery. Our teachers and staff are sensitive to individual differences and developmental stages of all children and apply appropriate practices to the classroom and curriculum. Our program provides a well-rounded preschool experience and fosters a child’s natural curiosity for learning. Our curriculum is planned around monthly themes.

Registration requirements: A $50 non-refundable annual registration fee and a non-refundable first month’s tuition payment are due at the initial registration. The remaining 8 tuition installments are due by the 20th of each month from October 2018 - May 2019. You will be charged a $25 late fee after the due date. Late fees are strictly enforced. NO NEW STUDENTS WILL BE ADDED TO THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR AFTER MARCH 1ST 2019. Children must be the age required on or before September 1, 2018. INITIAL REGISTRATION MUST BE MADE IN PERSON. Our three year old class introduces a child into a classroom setting, where self-help, self-esteem, socialization, cooperation skills and academic concepts are introduced through art, music, stories, circle-time, and indoor and outdoor play.

Our four year old class develops language, writing and literacy skills with the help of the Frontline Phonics program.

Awareness of mathematical and scientific reasoning is provided through a variety of appropriate activities and creative expression is encouraged through art and music.

Children have the opportunity to play indoors/outdoors and engage in large and small group activities daily. Material fee: $15 for all 4 year old classes. Instructors shall determine participant readiness.

Youth Enrichment Activities Thank Goodness It’s Fun Club Grades 1-6

This recreational enrichment program for children in grades 1-6 provides a variety of activities in a safe setting. Participants are supervised by responsible, trained staff. Character development, socialization, and esteem building are interwoven into daily activities which include: organized games, arts and crafts, outdoor play, homework help, and other positive recreational experiences. We strive to promote health, wellness, and fun! Initial registration must be done in person. There is a non-refundable annual registration fee of $55. Registration fee is due prior to the end of the current month, any payments received after that will be assessed a $25 late fee. For more information call 449-5616.

Drop in and enjoy a fun-filled morning or afternoon at TGIF! 10-Hour Drop-in cards are a great option for families that require only a few hours of care per week. They can be used any day of the week at all sites that are not full for Before or After school care. Drop-in availability is on a first come, first served basis and drop-in attendance must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. If a drop card expires while a student is on site, you will be called to pick up your child and a late fee will be assessed.

After School Education and Safety Program (ASES) The ASES (After School Education and Safety) program is designed to provide a safe physical and emotional environment that promotes relationship building. We offer an academically rewarding environment to students after school, which results in students’ achieving success in the regular classroom. The program provides homework assistance, physical activities and outdoor play opportunities, nutritious snacks, and enrichment classes which may include science, technology, arts and crafts, gardening, team and character building, visual and performing arts, chess club, and more! This FREE program is offered every day school is in session from the time school gets out until 6:00pm. Enrollment is limited to students at Fairmont, Padan, Markham and Hemlock Elementary Schools on a first come, first served basis. Join us for some awesome fun! This 3 day camp will be filled with everything: dance, games, popular hip hop styles and choreography, arts and crafts, exercise and old/new music all while building socialization and confidence skills in a safe environment. PAL Teen Leadership Council

Open Call!

The Teen Leadership Council brings together a group of talented and conscientious teen leaders from all over Vacaville. The Council is led by TLC Executive Board Members. TLC members gain communication and public speaking skills, self-confidence, plan events, service learning, leadership experience, community service, and friends! Directly interact with high level community leaders and participate in local and national conferences.

Meetings are held every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month.

This class focuses primarily on ensemble work with group numbers and scenes in musical theatre. Practice integrating acting, singing and movement skills while preparing to perform a showcase of musical numbers, scenes and acting exercises for family and friends on the final class.

Lifeguard Certification Ages 15+

Being a lifeguard can be one of the most rewarding jobs in recreation. Lifeguards provide water safety and security measures, and are first responders in times of need. Trainees will learn adult, child, and infant CPR; water safety, water rescues, as well as first aid and emergency response procedures. Trainees will be required to pass a pre-course swimming test during the first class. Upon successful completion of the course written and skills tests, trainees will receive a 2-year American Red Cross Certification for Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR and AED. Trainees that successfully apply and receive employment with the City of Vacaville Aquatics program will receive a 50% reimbursement on fees paid.

The program grants participants the opportunity to have fun as well as learn an Olympic sport. This class provides a safe, fun, and unique way to bond with your tot. Children explore creative movement while increasing fine and gross motor skills. The emphasis is on socialization and group activity. This class also provides an opportunity for the parent/ guardian to learn how to assist their tot in the use of gymnastics equipment. Participants continue to learn about posture, flexibility and musicality, strength training and stretching techniques through various dance combinations. Ulatis Community Center 707-469-4002 An ideal location for conferences, weddings, receptions, corporate meetings, and other community functions.

This facility has rooms which can be re-configured based upon your needs, a large kitchen, and ample parking.

Three Oaks Community Center 707-469-4024 An ideal location for conferences, weddings, receptions, corporate meetings, and other community functions.

This facility has a main Assembly Hall complete with stage (64’x58’), Activity Room (36’x36’), Multi-Purpose Room (52’x52’), two meeting rooms and ample parking.

McBride Senior Center 707-469-4002 Located in historic downtown Vacaville, this is an ideal location for birthday parties, receptions, company trainings or meetings.

Walter Graham Aquatic Center 707-469-4030 Private pool rentals are offered outside regular operational hours. The area offers, two pools, two slides, splash zone, playground, BBQ and picnic area.

Facility & Park Reservations To reserve Magnolia Park picnic areas, please call 469-4024.

Magnolia Park Southtown near Vanden Rd The first phase of this park is located on the western half of the Southtown oval. The park includes three covered group picnic areas (each with three or eight tables and barbecues), play areas for children 2 to 12 years old with a custom spray play feature, and a restroom building. The park also has an unlit ballfield and full size basketball court. Permanent restrooms are available.

Andrews Park 720 E. Monte Vista Avenue and School Street Surrounded by beautiful trees, this 17 acre park is perfect for birthday parties, company picnics, and family reunions.

Located within the park is Great Wonders playground, complete with tot lot and swings. There are 2 picnic areas with seating for up to 100 and has 5 barbecues. Permanent restrooms are available.

Arlington Park Foxboro Parkway and Peabody Road This 18 acre park features two sheltered picnic areas with seating for 72, barbecues, a playground, 4 softball /baseball fields, 2 turf fields and off street parking. Permanent restrooms are available.

Lagoon Valley Park I-80/Pe単a Adobe Park Exit This 306 acre scenic park is home to Lagoon Lake, equestrian and bike trails, and excellent hiking in the great outdoors. The park also features a 30,000 square foot fenced in dog park complete with trees and water. There are several picnic areas that are great locations for family reunions and company picnics. The park is also an ideal location for sporting events, such as walkathons and cross country events. This park features the lovely Hume, Rotary, and Hospice Groves.

Pe単a Adobe Park Pe単a Adobe and I-80 Exit South of City An ideal location for family picnics, birthday parties, corporate events, festivals and school field trips. The park is located on 6.4 acres has 2 rental areas, barbecue grills, large gazebo, 2 horseshoe pits. This location is also home to the historic Pe単a Adobe and the Mowers-Goheen Museum. Permanent restrooms are available.

Registration Information

Registration is now open! Note: A “resident” is anyone living in the Vacaville City limits. A “non-resident” is a Vacaville PO Box address and anyone living outside the Vacaville City limits. There is a 15% non-resident fee. There is a 10% sibling discount for activities for children 18 and under participating in the same program. The sibling discount is taken off the lower fee. There is a $25 service charge for all returned checks.





The program is canceled by the Vacaville Community Services Department. b. The Refund/Credit Request Form is submitted prior to the program refund deadline date.

3. Refund/Credit Request Forms received after the program refund deadline date will be reviewed on a case by case basis. As a general rule, a program refund request will not be granted after the program refund deadline date unless there are extenuating circumstances and will be: a. Subject to an administration fee of $5.00 for each program $50.00 and under, and 10% of the class fee for each program over $50.00. b. Issued as a credit on customer’s family account to be used for future Community Services program registration.

4. No refunds will be issued after a program ends no exceptions.

The City of Vacaville provides assistance with youth registration fees for income eligible families through our Reduced Fee Program. Youth who meet the criteria will receive a 25% discount which can be applied towards participation in any of the recreation programs we offer at $16 or over. An application must be completed and approved prior to registration. To apply for our Reduced Fee Program, simply fill out an application at the Administration Office located at 40 Eldridge Ave., Ste 11.
