Renee Day-Roa Kidz-N-Motion Dance Instructor September 10, 1963 - March 28, 2021

Ms. Renee, as she was fondly called, taught a variety of classes, from hip hop and tap to West African dance.

Since 2012, she has been sharing her love of movement and inspiring children of all ages in Vacaville. She will be remembered for her generosity of spirit and zest for life. She will be greatly missed by all.

DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE As fall creeps in and the days grow shorter and the nights cooler, we invite you to take some time to get outside and enjoy the array of parks, trails, and open space the City of Vacaville has to offer.

We understand the value parks bring to the community, and with City Council approval of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan and funding we are excited to move forward with several park improvement projects.

Speaking of spending time outside, we are delighted to host events you know and love from previous years, along with a few new ones we are sure you will enjoy. Starting with the ever-popular Floating Pumpkin Patch happening on Saturday, October 9, at Graham Aquatic Center, kids can jump in and pick their favorite pumpkin. The adorable Howl-O-Ween and Pooch Parade returns on Saturday, October 30, where you can show off your best doggie costumes. Next, join the first Día de los Muertos celebration on Tuesday, November 2, to honor departed loved ones. Think you know Vacaville? Register for our new scavenger hunt, Tour de Vacaville, Scavenger Style, where you and four of your teammates complete missions throughout Vacaville to win fun prizes!

Looking for ways to give back locally? Well, get your running shoes on and sign up for "Run for a Reason” 5k or 10k, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the nonprofit Friends of Seniors. In addition, the Walter Graham Aquatic Center is hosting a Swim Drive on November 22 and 23, benefiting the Solano County Food Bank. Donate nonperishables and be entered to win a 10-visit swim pass!

The City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation is now accepting band submissions for the 2022 CreekWalk Concert Series, which will kick off in June and run through August.

Discover the best of what Vacaville has to offer! From getting your haircut downtown to dining out and visiting one of our local farms, this adventure is sure to fill you up! Up to 4 people on a team can complete missions within 2-week time frame.

Howl-O-Ween

All Ages Come show off your fur-baby in style at our Howl-O-Ween event, featuring our well-known Costume Contest! We have 3 categories this year: Most Creative (dog-only), Funniest Fur Ball (dog-only) and Dynamic Duo (human/dog combo). Each contestant will have 1 min. to put their best “paw” forward.

Three judges will cast the final vote and winners announced at end of event. In order to participate, your dog must be friendly, licensed, vaccinated, and leashed.

North Pole

Celebrate the season with a Santa Breakfast! Enjoy an all you can eat pancake breakfast along with two sausage links. Your favorite beverages are included. Each child will have the chance to visit with Santa and create winter themed crafts. Children under two years eat free with a paying adult. All adults must purchase a ticket. Preschool fundraiser raffle will be available.

Register early - seating is limited. Must be pre-registered, no onsite registration will be taken. Breakfast is served promptly at 10am. Serving will end at 11:30am. Don't forget your camera for some great memories!

Notes from the North Pole contain a personalized letter for your child from Santa along with North Pole news.

Complete a Santa's helper questionnaire for your child and return it to our special mailbox located at the front counters at any of our Community Centers or fill out online at cityofvacaville. com/CivicRec by Dec. 4th. Letters will be mailed by Dec. 11th in order to arrive by Christmas.

Ages 4-5 Preschool opens up for a night of fun. Send your 4-5 year old in their pajamas for the best PJ party ever! Don't forget your favorite blanket and furry stuffed friend. City of Vacaville Preschool 2021-2022 School Year City of Vacaville Preschool has been educating Vacaville’s young children for close to 50 years. In a safe and positive environment, our program supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. We believe a hands-on approach to learning promotes exploration, creativity, and discovery. Our teachers and staff are sensitive to individual differences and developmental stages of all children and apply appropriate practices to the classroom and curriculum. Our curriculum is planned around monthly themes, provides a well-rounded preschool experience, and fosters a child’s natural curiosity for learning.

Registration Requirements for the 2021-2022 School Year: All Fees are applied to both 3's and 4's registration. A $50 nonrefundable annual registration fee, $30 supply fee, and a non-refundable first month's tuition payment are due at the initial registration. The remaining 8 tuition installments are due by the 20th of each month from October 2021 - May 2022. You will be charged a $25 late fee after the due date. Late fees are strictly enforced. This is a continuous school year program. All sessions are monthly and tuition is calculated at the same monthly cost from Sept to May. NO NEW STUDENTS WILL BE ADDED TO THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR AFTER FEBRUARY 2022. Children must be the age required on or before September 1, 2021. INITIAL REGISTRATION MUST BE MADE IN PERSON. Original birth certificate and copy of current immunization record are required. For information call (707) 469-4033. Children must be completely potty trained, no pullups. Preschool for 4 Year Olds

Our three year old class will introduce your child to a classroom setting. This program teaches self-help, selfesteem, socialization, cooperation skills, and academic concepts through art, music, stories, circle-time, and indoor and outdoor play. Instructors will determine the readiness of your child to participate in the program.

Our four year old class will help your child develop language, writing, and literacy skills through the Frontline Phonics program that provides awareness of mathematical and scientific reasoning through various activities. Your child's creative expression will be encouraged through art and music. Children have daily opportunities to play indoors/outdoors and engage in large and small group activities. Instructors shall determine the readiness of your child to participate in the program.

Thank Goodness It’s Fun Club (TGIF)

Grades 1-6 (with some Kindergarten options) The TGIFun Club provides a quality recreation enrichment program for children in grades 1-6 by offering a variety of activities in a safe setting. Participants are supervised by responsible, nurturing, trained staff who offer meaningful learning opportunities that promote lifelong skills. Character development, socialization, and esteem building are interwoven into daily activities such as organized competitions (including team-building, sports, and an occasional dance-off) and homework help. Participants will take part in regular STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities along with both performing and visual arts, nature immersion, environmental education, gardening, health education/healthy eating, outdoor structured events, games, and play. Guest presenters are also part of our program. TGIF promotes health, wellness, and fun. All Parks and Recreation Department programs are nut free (no peanuts / tree nuts.)

Ages 6-12 The Future Equestrian Club is an immersive program into the world of horses without even having to have a horse! TGIFun Club 10-Hour Drop-in Hours

Grades 1-6 Drop in and enjoy a fun-filled morning or afternoon at TGIF! Drop-in hours are a great option for families that require only a few hours of care per week. They can be used any day of the week at all sites that are not full for Before or After school care. Drop-in availability is on a first come, first served basis and drop-in attendance MUST be requested at least 24 hours in advance. If the drop-in hours reach 0 while the child is at the site, additional hours must be purchased before the end of the program day. If additional hours are not purchased, a late pickup fee will be charged.

Leading Events with Teens (LET)

Grades 6-12 Leading Events with Teens (LET) is a dynamic motivational and leadership opportunity for teens in grades 6-12 who are interested in planning events and developing leadership skills.

This event planning team gives teenagers the opportunity to discover and redesign the events, activities, and programs that are offered to the community. Interested teens should complete an application at any City of Vacaville Community Center.

Esports - GGLeagues

Ages 8-18 The beauty of esports is the ability to make friends, build relationships, and connect with your community. GGLeagues provides esports leagues and infrastructure to empower communities with the goal of connecting gamers with each other to building community through gaming. You can safely play your favorite games in a competitive league or in tournaments.

Recreational leagues typically last around six weeks with a few weeks of downtime following the playoffs.

The Therapeutic Recreation (TR) program was created to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities. By focusing on ability rather than disability, we create an environment of inclusion and acceptance. The TR program will strive to remove barriers, provide accommodation, and increase independence and confidence, in a safe and supervised setting. Through the use of community resources in a therapeutic manner, individuals will receive education, skill development, and community integration.

Thunder Hawks Running Program

Ages 7-17 Our certified and experienced coaching staff works with youth athletes to develop their fitness and endurance, instruct them on the fundamentals of competitive running, educate them on the importance of proper nutrition, and inspire them to set goals and push through mental limitations. Ages 8+ The beauty of esports is the ability to make friends, build relationships, and connect with your community. Ages 5+ Reyes Kenpo Karate has been teaching self defense through the City of Vacaville since 1967. This 12-week course will instill confidence, self respect and respect for others. Students will learn mental and physical strength as well as self-discipline.

720 E. Monte Vista Avenue and School Street Surrounded by beautiful trees, this 17 acre park is perfect for birthday parties, company picnics, and family reunions. Located within the park is Great Wonders playground, complete with tot lot and swings. There are 2 reservable picnic areas, 5 barbecues and seating for up to 100. Restrooms are available.

505 Foxboro Parkway and Peabody Road This 18 acre park features two covered picnic areas with seating for 72, barbecues, a playground, 4 softball/baseball fields, open turf fields and off street parking. Restrooms are available.

Lagoon Valley Park

4627 Pena Adobe Road • I-80/Peña Adobe Park Exit This 306 acre scenic park is home to Lagoon Lake, equestrian and bike trails, and hiking in the great outdoors. The park also features a 30,000 square foot fenced dog park with trees and water. There are several picnic areas that are great locations for family reunions and company picnics. The park is also ideal for sporting events, such as walkathons and cross country events.

This park features the lovely Hume, Rotary, and Hospice Groves.

Restrooms are available.

Magnolia Park

215 Cogburn Circle • Southtown near Vanden Rd The first phase of this park is located on the western half of the Southtown oval. The park includes three covered group picnic areas with barbecues (two with three tables and one with eight tables), play areas for children 2 to 12 years old with a spray play feature. The park also has an unlit ballfield and full size basketball court. Restrooms are available.

Peña Adobe Historic Area at Lagoon Valley Park

4699 Pena Adobe Road • I-80/Peña Adobe Park Exit An ideal location for family picnics, birthday parties, corporate events, festivals and school field trips. The park provides 8 acres of mature oaks, level grass for games and play, 2 rental areas, barbecue grills, large gazebo, and 2 horseshoe pits. This location is also home to the historic Peña Adobe and the Mowers-Goheen Museum. Restrooms are available.

REFUND POLICY It is the goal of the Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department to provide you with the quality and satisfaction you expect.

1. All refund requests must be submitted using the Refund/ Credit Request Form (available at cityofvacaville. com/parksandrec under the Forms tab on the left and at all Vacaville Community Centers).

2. Full refunds will be issued if one of the following apply: a.

The program is canceled by the Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department. b. The Refund/Credit Request Form is submitted prior to the program refund deadline date.

3. Refund/Credit Request Forms received after the program refund deadline date will be reviewed on a case by case basis. As a general rule, a program refund request will not be granted after the program refund deadline date unless there are extenuating circumstances and will be: a. Subject to an administration fee of $5.00 for each program $50.00 and under, and 10% of the class fee for each program over $50.00. b. Issued as a credit on customer’s family account to be used for future Parks and Recreation program registration.

REDUCED FEE PROGRAM The City of Vacaville provides assistance with youth registration fees for income eligible families through our Reduced Fee Program.

Youth 16 and under who meet the criteria will receive a 25% discount which can be applied towards participation in any of the recreation programs we offer at $16 or over. An application must be completed and approved prior to registration. PHOTO RELEASE I understand that the City of Vacaville staff reserves the right to photograph and/or videotape facilities, activities, and program participants for potential future use. I hereby grant permission to the City of Vacaville to use my and/or my minor child’s photograph and/or video footage for City of Vacaville promotional materials and publications.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY I understand that participation in the above listed Recreational Activities/Program(s) may be of a hazardous, strenuous and/or physical nature and may result in personal injury, illness (ex: communicable disease including, but not limited to, MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19), death or property damage. Knowing the risks involved, I nevertheless voluntarily request permission for myself and/or my minor child to participate in said Recreational Activities/Program(s) and agree to assume all such risks. I hereby release, discharge and absolve the City of Vacaville and all City personnel in advance from and against any and all liability, injury or damage arising out of or in connection with my and/or my minor child’s participation in said Recreational Activities/Program(s) or failure on the part of the City and/or City personnel to comply with any obligations related to said Recreational Activities/Program(s), even though that liability, injury or damage may be caused by the City and/or City personnel.

I agree to indemnify (compensate for damages) and hold the City harmless from any loss, liability, damage, cost or expense, including litigation or attorney fees, arising out of or connected in any way with my and/or my minor child’s participation in said Recreational Activities/Program(s). I understand and agree that this Waiver of Liability is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted under California law, and that if any portion of this Waiver of Liability is invalid, the balance shall continue in full force and effect.
