Saturday, 4/16 from 10am-1pm Hop on over for an EGG-stravaganza! There will be an egg hunt, games, prizes, and fun for the whole family! All egg hunts take place at 11:30am. DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE The flowers of spring are blooming, and so are our parks! Thanks to Measure M, many of your favorite parks will be receiving improvements in the months ahead. Join our community meetings to find out what great things are in store.

Speaking of getting outside, check out our upcoming spring events.

Starting on April 9, it's time to make a splash at the Underwater Egg Hunt. Then, on April 16, bring your appetite to the McBride Center, where the Bunny Breakfast takes place. Afterward, hop on over to Andrews Park for a free egg hunt at Bunnies and Bonnets Family Fun Day. We have some new classes we think you will like including Paint with Passion for ages 6+, you will learn to paint with acrylics in a fun and rewarding way. Therapeutic Recreation also has a few new classes, including Planting with Pals and Canvas Creators, both for ages 13+, you can plant or paint to your heart's content.

At the pool, we have added adult swim lessons in a semi-private environment. Finally, for our 16+ crowd, we encourage you to get back on the field and join the new Soccer Coed League to show off your skills and maintain your health and fitness.

Vaca-Con is back and ready for action on April 2. So gear up, assemble, and get ready to be amazed at this exciting event for lovers of sci-fi, anime, comics, pop culture, and so much more! There will be informative panels, fantastic vendors, talented artists, and extravagant costumes.

City of Vacaville Preschool has been educating Vacaville’s young children for close to 50 years. In a safe and positive environment, our program supports the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child. We believe a hands-on approach to learning promotes exploration, creativity, and discovery. Our teachers and staff are sensitive to individual differences and developmental stages of all children and apply appropriate practices to the classroom and curriculum. Our curriculum is planned around monthly themes, provides a well-rounded preschool experience, and fosters a child’s natural curiosity for learning.

Registration Requirements for the 2021-2022 School Year: All Fees are applied to both 3's and 4's registration. A $50 nonrefundable annual registration fee, $30 supply fee, and a non-refundable first month's tuition payment are due at the initial registration. The remaining 8 tuition installments are due by the 20th of each month from October 2021 - May 2022. You will be charged a $25 late fee after the due date. Late fees are strictly enforced. This is a continuous school year program. All sessions are monthly and tuition is calculated at the same monthly cost from Sept to May. NO NEW STUDENTS WILL BE ADDED TO THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR AFTER FEBRUARY 2022. Children must be the age required on or before September 1, 2021. INITIAL REGISTRATION MUST BE MADE IN PERSON. Original birth certificate and copy of current immunization record are required. For information call (707) 469-4033. Children must be completely potty trained, no pullups. WE ARE PEANUT/TREE NUT FREE.

Preschool for 4 Year Olds

Our three year old class will introduce your child to a classroom setting. This program teaches self-help, selfesteem, socialization, cooperation skills, and academic concepts through art, music, stories, circle-time, and indoor and outdoor play. Instructors will determine the readiness of your child to participate in the program.

Our four year old class will help your child develop language, writing, and literacy skills through the Frontline Phonics program that provides awareness of mathematical and scientific reasoning through various activities. Your child's creative expression will be encouraged through art and music. Children have daily opportunities to play indoors/outdoors and engage in large and small group activities. Instructors shall determine the readiness of your child to participate in the program.

Thank Goodness It’s Fun Club (TGIFun) Grades 1-6 (with some Kindergarten options) The TGIFun Club provides a quality before school and after school recreation enrichment programs for children in grades 1-6 by offering a variety of activities in a safe setting. Participants are supervised by responsible, nurturing, trained staff who offer meaningful learning opportunities that promote lifelong skills. Character development, socialization, and esteem building are interwoven into daily activities such as organized competitions (including team-building, sports, and an occasional dance-off) and homework help.

Participants will take part in regular STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) activities along with both performing and visual arts, nature immersion, environmental education, gardening, health education/healthy eating, outdoor structured events, games, and play. Guest presenters are also part of our program. TGIF promotes health, wellness, and fun. All Parks and Recreation Department programs are nut free (no peanuts / tree nuts).

Water Art

Lap Swim Swimming laps is a low impact total body aerobic workout that helps burn calories and tone muscles. Kick boards and other equipment available for use. Bring your own fins, goggles, and pull buoys. Mermaid tails available to rent for $5 a tail per session.

Participants are required to circle swim when there is more than one person per lane.

Shallow Water Aerobics Shallow Water Aerobics incorporates cardio and resistance training for a full body, low impact, workout for people of all fitness levels. Aqua belts, barbells, dumbbells, and pool noodles are available on a first come, first serve basis. Pre-registration is highly encouraged as we do have a limited number of participants that can join each class.

Deep Water Aerobics Deep Water Aerobics combines a non-impact, moderate to high-intensity full body workout focusing on overall strength, endurance, and fitness to challenge all participants. Aqua belts, barbells, and pool noodles are available on a first-come-firstserve basis.

Whether you're just beginning your water fitness journey or are a returning water enthusiast, Water Art will get you moving and grooving for a solid 55 minutes. Using the resistance of the water, the instructor will lead participants through a variety of full-body fitness moves. Modifications will be provided for all levels.

Ages 15+ Being a lifeguard can be one of the most rewarding jobs in recreation. Lifeguards provide water safety and security measures, and are first responders in time of need. Trainees will learn adult, child and infant CPR; water safety, water rescues, as well as first aid and emergency response procedures. Trainees will be required to pass a pre-course swimming test during the first class. Tadpole Ages 6 mo-4 yrs Parent & Child Transition

For first-time swimmers or swimmers who aren’t comfortable in the water alone. Children will learn how to enter the pool safely, submerge their face, float, and kick with a kickboard.

Children will also be introduced to swimming freestyle and backstroke, as well as prepare to transition into a group class setting. An adult is required to be in the water with each child throughout the duration of the swim lesson.

Participants will be introduced to flip turns and butterfly.

Participants will continue refinement of all four competition strokes. Endurance, technique, and proper Individual Medley (IM) wall transitions will be emphasized.

Participants must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke 15 yards independently; breaststroke 10 yards independently.

Participants will refine freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke skills. Participants will be introduced to flip turns and butterfly. If a participant cannot swim 15 yards on the first day of class independently, they will be transferred to a swim lesson level that can meet their needs. If an appropriate level is not available, the participant will receive a partial refund. Lessons may take place in water up to 5 feet deep.

Our facility amenities include a spring floor, tumble track, bars, balance beams, and much more.

The two-hour-long party includes table and chair set-up and accommodates 20 children. Each child over 20 is an additional $10.

We provide private and semi-private lessons for participants looking to master specific complex gymnastics skills or those who would prefer one on one lessons with one of our coaches.

Lessons are only available Mondays, Fridays, and Saturday mornings. Please contact our office at (707) 449-6101 to start your registration process. Dependent on coaching availability, your gymnast may be placed on a waiting list.

You receive (6), 45 minute lessons per package.

Semi-private lessons are for two or more participants.

All private and semi-private lessons must be completed within a regular 6 week session and may not be transferred to a later session. If the lessons are not completed, they will expire and no credits or refunds will be given.

Children begin their adventure as a Climbing Caterpillar, where the focus is on the basic building blocks of gymnastics. 720 E. Monte Vista Avenue and School Street Surrounded by beautiful trees, this 17 acre park is perfect for birthday parties, company picnics, and family reunions. Located within the park is Great Wonders playground, complete with tot lot and swings. There are 2 reservable picnic areas, 5 barbecues and seating for up to 100. Restrooms are available.

Lagoon Valley Park

4627 Pena Adobe Road • I-80/Peña Adobe Park Exit This 306 acre scenic park is home to Lagoon Lake, equestrian and bike trails, and hiking in the great outdoors. The park also features a 30,000 square foot fenced dog park with trees and water. There are several picnic areas that are great locations for family reunions and company picnics. The park is also ideal for sporting events, such as walkathons and cross country events.

This park features the lovely Hume, Rotary, and Hospice Groves.

Magnolia Park

215 Cogburn Circle • Southtown near Vanden Rd The first phase of this park is located on the western half of the Southtown oval. The park includes three covered group picnic areas with barbecues (two with three tables and one with eight tables), play areas with a spray play feature for 2 to 12 year olds. The park also has an unlit ballfield and full size basketball court. Restrooms are available.

Peña Adobe Historic Area at Lagoon Valley Park

4699 Pena Adobe Road • I-80/Peña Adobe Park Exit An ideal location for family picnics, birthday parties, corporate events, festivals and school field trips. The park provides 8 acres of mature oaks, level grass for games and play, 2 rental areas, barbecue grills, large gazebo, and 2 horseshoe pits. This location is also home to the historic Peña Adobe and the Mowers-Goheen Museum. Restrooms are available.

Note: A “resident” is anyone living in the Vacaville City limits. A “non-resident” is a Vacaville PO Box address and anyone living outside the Vacaville City limits. There is a 15% non-resident fee. There is a 10% sibling discount for activities for children 18 and under participating in the same program. The sibling discount is taken off the lower fee. There is a $25 service charge for all returned checks.



REFUND POLICY It is the goal of the Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department to provide you with the quality and satisfaction you expect.

1.

All refund requests must be submitted using the Refund/ Credit Request Form (available at cityofvacaville. com/parksandrec under the Forms tab on the left and at all Vacaville Community Centers).

2.

Full refunds will be issued if one of the following apply: a. The program is canceled by the Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department. b. The Refund/Credit Request Form is submitted prior to the program refund deadline date.

3.

Refund/Credit Request Forms received after the program refund deadline date will be reviewed on a case by case basis. As a general rule, a program refund request will not be granted after the program refund deadline date unless there are extenuating circumstances and will be: a. Subject to an administration fee of $5.00 for each program $50.00 and under, and 10% of the class fee for each program over $50.00. b. Issued as a credit on customer’s family account to be used for future Parks and Recreation program registration.

RECREATION PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS Vacaville City Council approved the Youth Recreation Scholarship Program funded from Measure M sales tax revenue. The Program allows qualifying Vacaville families to receive a $1,000 credit on their CivicRec account for recreation activities and programs for children ages 17 and under. Photo Release I understand that the City of Vacaville staff reserves the right to photograph and/or videotape facilities, activities, and program participants for potential future use. I hereby grant permission to the City of Vacaville to use my and/or my minor child’s photograph and/or video footage for City of Vacaville promotional materials and publications.

Waiver of Liability I understand that participation in the above listed Recreational Activities/Program(s) may be of a hazardous, strenuous and/or physical nature and may result in personal injury, Illness (ex: communicable disease including, but not limited to, MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19), death or property damage.
