Do you hear the sleigh bells ringing? Then come on over as we celebrate the season with a Santa Breakfast! Enjoy an all you can eat pancake breakfast along with two sausage links.

Your favorite beverages are included. Each child will have the chance to visit with Santa and create winter themed crafts. Children under two years eat free with a paying adult.

All adults must purchase a ticket. Preschool fundraiser raffle will be available. Register early - seating is limited. Must be pre-registered, no onsite registration will be taken. Don't forget your camera for some great memories!

Grandparents' Day Ages 8+

Come celebrate Grandparents' Day by creating new memories with loved ones. Bring a picture of a special someone and create a frame together. Enjoy music and dancing to the hokey-pokey; light snacks and refreshments are provided at this fun event.

The Holiday Connection Program provides gifts for seniors during the holiday season. Seniors who live at home or in residential care facilities are eligible. Most have little contact with family or friends. The Holiday Connection Program provides social contact for these seniors during the holidays.

The Program is looking for sponsors, individuals or groups, who can purchase a gift and deliver to recipient. If delivery is not possible, please make a donation in the form of a check.

Director's Message

What a great summer we had! On June 29, we celebrated the opening of the new dog park at Centennial Park with a leash cutting ceremony. Thank you to all of the volunteers who contributed many hours of hard work and voters who supported Measure M to make the dog park come to life. We also were able to implement the Agents of Discovery program, a new virtual reality mobile game app that engages participants through their smart phones by having them complete missions and earn points. The free program debuted at Andrews Park and Lagoon Valley Park.

Along with the change of season we have a change of our own. Our Department has a new name, we are now the City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department. You will notice the change in our publications and social media platforms. We continue to be committed to providing programs, activities and events that promote a healthy lifestyle, community engagement and economic value.

We’ve got some fantastic new programs and events coming this fall. We will be hosting the first ever Tournament of Families on September 7 at Andrews Park. All summer long folks have been able to vote on the types of games and activities they would like included, from physical challenges to trivia, it’s going to be a good time with lots of friendly competition. With the huge success of Vaca-Con this past spring, there will be a Cosplay event on Saturday, October 12 at Andrews Park open to all ages.

New programs for the young and young at heart include You and Me Workshops and Halloween Loot Bag with Grandparents. Both workshops provide an opportunity for adults and youth to spend quality time together while having fun. Dragons Martial Arts Academy is a new program for youth, ages three to sixteen that focuses on developing life skills. A Badminton Tournament will be held on November 23 at Georgie Duke Sports Center, both singles and doubles can compete in a double elimination format.

Vacaville Gymnastics will offer Tumbling Tutus and Gymnastics & Hip Hop classes. Both classes combine dance, choreography, and gymnastics. Check out all of the amazing travel opportunities in the Trips & Tours section of the Guide. Children can experience rhythms, moves and language from around the world in our new Multicultural Music Classes. There are several new options for dance classes, making it difficult to choose just one! Don’t forget to take a peek at all of the new Intergenerational programs that include cooking, art, language classes, and golf lessons.

Finally, don’t forget the annual Thanksgiving Feast held at McBride Community Center on Thanksgiving Day, November 28. This event is a great way to give back to the community through donating and/or volunteering. If you are interested, contact McBride Community Center at 469-6660.

Mommy's Time Out

This interactive experience for parents and children combines parental support and quality time for young children. Your toddler will develop social skills through play experiences. Adults assist their children in activities that promote confidence while having fun. An instructor will serve as a guide and conduct the closing circle time activity. Children must be the age required on or before the first day of program. Sibling fee $10 for ages 6-9 months. Parent or guardian participation required.

Our toddler class provides a nurturing environment in which socialization skills, cognitive skills, independence, fine and gross motor skills, and language development are learned through imaginative play, large and small group activities, story time, sensory activities, music, dance, exploration, building, and more.

Children are not required to be potty trained. Instructors shall determine the readiness of child to participate in the program.

Get Ready for Preschool Ages 2-4

This class helps tots transition into the preschool setting.

Parents stay with their children and help them experience what it’s like to be in preschool. Youth Enrichment Activities Children's Corner Preschool 2019-2020 School Year REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN FOR CHILDREN’S CORNER PRESCHOOL

Children’s Corner Preschool has been educating Vacaville’s young children for close to 50 years. In a safe and positive environment, our program supports the social, emotional, cognitive and physical development of each child. We believe a hands-on approach to learning promotes exploration, creativity and discovery. Our teachers and staff are sensitive to individual differences and developmental stages of all children and apply appropriate practices to the classroom and curriculum. Our program provides a well-rounded preschool experience and fosters a child’s natural curiosity for learning. Our curriculum is planned around monthly themes.

Registration Requirements for the 2019-2020 School Year: A $50 non-refundable annual registration fee and a non-refundable first month’s tuition payment are due at the initial registration. The remaining 8 tuition installments are due by the 20th of each month from October 2019 - May 2020. You will be charged a $25 late fee after the due date. Late fees are strictly enforced. This is a continuous school year program. All sessions are monthly and tuition is calculated at the same monthly cost from Sept to May. NO NEW STUDENTS WILL BE ADDED TO THE CURRENT SCHOOL YEAR AFTER FEBRUARY 1ST 2020. Children must be the age required on or before September 1, 2019. INITIAL REGISTRATION MUST BE MADE IN PERSON. Our three year old class introduces children to a classroom setting, where self-help, self-esteem, socialization, cooperation skills and academic concepts are introduced through art, music, stories, circle-time, and indoor and outdoor play. Instructors shall determine participant readiness.

Our four year old class develops language, writing and literacy skills with the help of the Frontline Phonics program. Awareness of mathematical and scientific reasoning is provided through a variety of appropriate activities and creative expression is encouraged through art and music. Children have the opportunity to play indoors/outdoors and engage in large and small group activities daily. Material fee: $20 for all 4 year old classes.

Thank Goodness It’s Fun Club (TGIF) Before and After School Program for Grades 1-6

The TGIFun Club provides a quality recreation enrichment program for children in grades 1-6 by offering a variety of activities in a safe setting. Participants are supervised by responsible, nurturing, trained staff who offer meaningful learning opportunities that promote lifelong skills. Character development, socialization, and esteem building are interwoven into daily activities such as organized competitions (including team-building, sports, and an occasional Just Dance-off) and homework help. Participants will take part in regular STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities along with both performing and visual arts, nature immersion, environmental education, gardening, health education and healthy eating and outdoor structured events, games, and play. Guest presenters are also part of our program. TGIF promotes health, wellness, and fun!

Initial registration must be done in person. There is a non-refundable annual registration fee of $55. Monthly registration fee is due prior to the end of the current month, any payments received after that will be assessed a $25 late fee. TGIFun Club 10-Hour Drop-In Cards

Camp VACAtion

Drop in and enjoy a fun-filled morning or afternoon at TGIF! 10Hour Drop-in cards are a great option for families that require only a few hours of care per week. They can be used any day of the week at all sites that are not full for Before or After school care.

Drop-in availability is on a first come, first served basis and dropin attendance must be requested at least 24 hours in advance. If drop-in hours expire/run out while a student is on site, you will be called to pick up your child and a late fee will be assessed.

New memories await when you spend your holiday or Winter Break at Camp VACAtion. Homeschool Piano Class

Students are exposed to the FUNdamentals of music through song, rhyme, pitch exploration and movement activities to prepare them for music literacy. Unison singing is emphasized but choir members will also sing occasional two/three-part songs. Learn stage presence and self-confidence while singing fun Broadway style songs.

Literacy-based music instruction and vocal development help with language exploration, motor skills, and social development. Class fee includes class materials; student will be required to provide their own costumes and assist with stage decor.

This piano class is for beginning through intermediate home school students. Class includes piano technique, note reading, rhythms, theory, and orchestration. Designed to increase the comfort level of infants and toddlers in and around water. At the direction of an instructor, parents will learn techniques to teach skills such as bubble blowing, floating, and buoyancy movements utilizing toys and songs. A parent is required to be in the water with their child. Swim attire: a swim suit and swim diapers - NO DISPOSABLE DIAPERS.

Gymnastics Family Fun Nights Our facility is open for you and your family to play every first and third Friday of the month. Children 5 and under require an adult chaperone out on the floor. This is a family event, parents and guardians are required to be present at all times.

Bounce around and get your wiggles out with us. You and your little one can drop in and have fun together while staying active and fit. Come and join this exciting and very popular night time Halloween Party with the Vacaville Gymnastics staff. You will get to experience a spooky obstacle course, play games, use gymnastics equipment, eat Halloween goodies and make craft projects. This class provides a safe, fun, and unique way to bond with your tot. Children explore creative movement while increasing fine and gross motor skills. This fun and exciting series of classes is progressive and designed for children ages 3-6. Children begin their adventure as a Bouncing Bear where the focus is on the basic building blocks of gymnastics. Magnolia Park

Southtown near Vanden Rd The first phase of this park is located on the western half of the Southtown oval. The park includes three covered group picnic areas (each with three or eight tables and barbecues), play areas for children 2 to 12 years old with a spray play feature. The park also has an unlit ballfield and full size basketball court. Restrooms are available.

Andrews Park

720 E. Monte Vista Avenue and School Street Surrounded by beautiful trees, this 17 acre park is perfect for birthday parties, company picnics, and family reunions. Located within the park is Great Wonders playground, complete with tot lot and swings. There are 2 picnic areas, 5 barbecues and seating for up to 100. Restrooms are available.

Arlington Park

Foxboro Parkway and Peabody Road This 18 acre park features two covered picnic areas with seating for 72, barbecues, a playground, 4 softball/baseball fields, open turf fields and off street parking. Restrooms are available.

Lagoon Valley Park I-80/Pe単a Adobe Park Exit

This 306 acre scenic park is home to Lagoon Lake, equestrian and bike trails, and hiking in the great outdoors. The park also features a 30,000 square foot fenced dog park with trees and water. There are several picnic areas that are great locations for family reunions and company picnics. The park is also ideal for sporting events, such as walkathons and cross country events.

This park features the lovely Hume, Rotary, and Hospice Groves.

Pe単a Adobe Park

Pe単a Adobe and I-80 Exit South of City An ideal location for family picnics, birthday parties, corporate events, festivals and school field trips. The park is located on 6.4 acres, has 2 rental areas, barbecue grills, large gazebo, and 2 horseshoe pits. This location is also home to the historic Pe単a Adobe and the Mowers-Goheen Museum. A “non-resident” is a Vacaville PO Box address and anyone living outside the Vacaville City limits. There is a 15% non-resident fee. There is a 10% sibling discount for activities for children 18 and under participating in the same program. The sibling discount is taken off the lower fee. 3. Refund/Credit Request Forms received after the program refund deadline date will be reviewed on a case by case basis. As a general rule, a program refund request will not be granted after the program refund deadline date unless there are extenuating circumstances and will be: a. Subject to an administration fee of $5.00 for each program $50.00 and under, and 10% of the class fee for each program over $50.00. b. Issued as a credit on customer’s family account to be used for future Parks and Recreation program registration.

4. No refunds will be issued after a program ends no exceptions.

The City of Vacaville provides assistance with youth registration fees for income eligible families through our Reduced Fee Program. Youth who meet the criteria will receive a 25% discount which can be applied towards participation in any of the recreation programs we offer at $16 or over. An application must be completed and approved prior to registration. To apply for our Reduced Fee Program, simply fill out an application at the Administration Office located at 40 Eldridge Ave., Ste 11.

Photo Release I understand that the City of Vacaville staff reserves the right to photograph and/or videotape facilities, activities, and program participants for potential future use. I hereby grant permission to the City of Vacaville to use my and/or my minor child’s photograph and/or video footage for City of Vacaville promotional materials and publications.

Waiver of Liability I understand that participation in the above listed Recreational Activities/Program(s) may be of a hazardous, strenuous and/or physical nature and may result in personal injury, death or property damage. Knowing the risks involved, I nevertheless voluntarily request permission for myself and/or my minor child to participate in said Recreational Activities/Program(s) and agree to assume all such risks. I hereby release, discharge and absolve the City of Vacaville and all City personnel in advance from and against any and all liability, injury or damage arising out of or in connection with my and/or my minor child’s participation in said Recreational Activities/Program(s) or failure on the part of the City and/or City personnel to comply with any obligations related to said Recreational Activities/Program(s), even though that liability, injury or damage may be caused by the City and/or City personnel. I agree to indemnify (compensate for damages) and hold the City harmless from any loss, liability, damage, cost or expense, including litigation or attorney fees, arising out of or connected in any way with my and/or my minor child’s participation in said Recreational Activities/Program(s). I understand and agree that this Waiver of Liability is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted under California law, and that if any portion of this Waiver of Liability is invalid, the balance shall continue in full force and effect.

I have carefully read this Waiver or Liability and understand that it is a release of all liability and an assumption of all risk inherent in City of Vacaville Parks and Recreation Department Recreational Activities/Program(s). I am fully aware of the legal consequences of signing this document and voluntarily sign my name evidencing my acceptance of the above provisions.

If the participant is a minor child, this form must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
